AID:Tech will present a case study of using Hyperledger Fabric in Tanzania, alongside the Dutch NGO PharmAccess. In this presentation, Nicola will describe the use of Hyperledger Composer to rapidly define a business-network, and how it has been integrated in a microservice architecture.

Nicola will also present the business and social implications of holding a shared record of medical history, and how this helps empower the local Tanzanian women.

Welcome everyone- and thank you for being here so today, I, will talk about our work at attack and what we did using hyper ledger and what we develop our use case, especially focusing on the use cases Earthcare so where we monitor, has care of women in tanzania during her during their pregnancy, so I'm, Nichola, I'm, blockchain, developer at attack I've been working on hyper ledger for one year and a half now and I, mostly focus on the development of the of the applications. Also I submitted some contribution to the hyper ledger.

A code base, in particular into a composer I'm here with the Sascha such as CTO and chief data scientist of attack, is, is working to make sure that the infrastructure and the application is a stable and robust and well designed. Sascha is the mind behind the the hand, charts that we deployed did that we develop and open source to deploy hyper ledger fabric into a kubernetes and together we worked on we're maintaining those charts and we submitted improvements to the codebase. We also collaborated.

We run a webinar on the linux foundation showing how to use those hands art and to deploy fabric on kubernetes, and we will run to a workshop during this conference on Friday and on Saturday again showing how to deploy hyper ledger fabric into kubernetes using those help charts. So let me introduce a bit about attack. The vision of a tech is to bring social and financial inclusion to under today under served.

We aim to help to reach the goal. All the sustainable development goals that were set by the UN to take a social and economic challenges like poverty, health and education, environment and so on. What we do at attack is a different project, not only the healthcare we have this different use. Cases like had one of the nation. We can provide end-to-end traceability of the donations and where we have this platform to do that. Also.

Another important use case is the remittance this one. This is especially linked to a Development Goal, the ten point, a ten point which wants to aims to lower down the remittances fees down to three percent. So we can help to reach that goal, and we can also provide traceability to the remittances and, of course, try to keep the fees lowers as possible. Then we another thing that we can provide is the distribution and the monitoring on the of welfare again in form of a digital entitlements. Then we provide the aid traceability.

This was in Lebanon in the first pilot. Rather, the remittances one was in Serbia, where we run approach it with the UNDP and then finally, the health care, which is the one that we will talk in a moment. This was a project in Tanzania to monitor the health care of the pregnant women. So the common thing of those use cases is that we want to design a solution based on a real problem and we want to understand exactly what's the issue there. That's why? For the project in Tanzania, we worked with the farm.

Acess farm axis is a Dutch NGO, who already has a lot of experience in providing transparency and healthcare services using new technologies. So with firm axis, we work together to define the requirements of the project. As you can see, this was we were in Tanzania. This was a remote clinic where plane where women could get services during their pregnancy, so this system in place was a paper-based system.

Basically, the women had a leaflet that they could use to get access to that service for free, so they had the paper lifted leaflet and the midwives at these books, big books, that they had to fill with all the drugs and analysis that were provided to the end to the women, our solution and, of course, and giving this paper-based system the NGO, the Health, Service and other actors that were needed to get access to those data to monitor and so on.

They could actually see the status of the patient and the clinic itself after month after the data were collected. So this was a very long time and our solution with our solution. We provided the real-time transparency on those data and, of course, this improved a lot the feedback and also how they could react to immediate need for the clinic the clinic or for specific patients.

Also, we provide a digital identity for the patients for the women, either in a form of a badge like this or of a sticker, a sticker to be added on the leaflet in a way that we cannot distract in any way or change the way they used. That leaflet, because we found again looking to the actual requirements working with the guys that are that actually know what the problem was. We found that that was a critical requirement to maintain for the women, their user experience.

I should say that to get access to that to the to the services and the project run for six months. It was a great success and we also had the first baby on the blockchain, and this was featured in Forbes and also another and on the press. So let me just talk about the development process to define this solution. We use hyper ledger fabric and hyper ledger composer in a CD CI pipeline and we'll average. Our deployment using the hand charts on kubernetes the benefit of using a hyper laser.

A composer was to make sure that we can actually prototype and change have a fast way to change and adapt, and the flexibility of composer was very helpful at the beginning to draft our data and make sure that we can adapt. Given the requirement that we had from from the testing itself.

Also, we made sure that everything was properly tested and that could fit on the CDC. I and I will average our helm charts. So we develop an EM charts for deploying fabric, so we have different than CA appear in order and another one for composer.

So they are completely open source. If you want to try them or suggest and improvements or make your improvements feel free to download and do your try and also we will. We will run the workshop just to remind you on Friday and Saturday.
