From YouTube: 2020-07-23 Istio Community Meeting
Description
A short meeting this time, with some community updates.
B
A
We
could
talk
about
proxy
list
things
today.
Proxy
list
is
an
interesting.
A
So
so
one
thing
I
will
say,
and
we
start
I
have
started-
recording
yeah
I'll.
Just
kick
this
meeting
off,
hey
everyone.
This
is
dan
cerulli
from
the
from
google
and
from
the
istio
steering
committee
here
today,
subbing
in
for
louis
ryan,
who
is
also
on
the
toc
and
steering
committee.
We
have
a
very
light
agenda
today.
I
will.
I
will
share
it.
As
always,
the
agenda
is
open
to
public
and
anyone
who
has.
A
Anyone
who
has
items
they'd
like
to
put
on
the
agenda
is
always
welcome
to
put
them
on.
One
thing
I
would
like
to
call
attention
to
is
the
a
change.
That's
been
a
set
of
major
changes
to
the
steering
committee
charter.
I
highly
recommend
people
go
to
the
istio
community
repo
and
check
out
pr361.
It's
by
me,
I'm
oaktowner,
because
I
live
in
oakland.
A
I
don't
know
if
my
camera's
still
on,
but
I'm
wearing
my
my
oakland
professional
soccer
shirt
right
now.
We
have
you
know
we
made
some
big
news.
Last
month
when
google
announced-
or
earlier
this
month
when
google
announced
it
was
donating
the
trademark
for
istio,
that
is
the
own,
the
name
and
the
logo.
To
the
open
usage
comment
to
administer
the
trademark.
A
We,
as
always,
remain
very
committed
not
only
to
fair
trademark
usage,
but
open
governance
and-
and
we
have
always
had
a
steering
committee
charter-
that's
been
published.
A
However,
when
we
started
the
steering
committee-
and
it
was
just
us
at
ibm-
it
was
just
us
an
ibm
on
the
steering
committee,
and
so
we've
been
thinking
for
a
while
and
actually
working
for
a
while
on
verbiage
to
update
the
charter
just
to
to
really
make
it
a
little
bit
more
mature
as
the
product
as
a
project
has
become
more
mature
and
one
of
the
big
goals.
Right
now,
in
fact,
I
would
say
the
biggest
goal
that
we
have
right
now.
A
We
have
googlers
and
ibm's
and
one
person
from
red
hat
on
the
on
the
steering
committee
and
well.
We
have
been
very
good
at
getting
contributors
to
the
project
from
many
companies
maintainers
from
the
from
the
project
of
many
companies
and
now
even
on
the
toc.
There
are
four
companies
represented.
The
steering
still
has
that
way
and
we've
decided
that
it
is
not
only
is
open
governance
important,
but
it's
very
important
to
get
a
diversity
of
opinions
on
the
steering
committee
itself.
A
A
We
write
the
code
of
conduct
so
how
we
run
the
project,
but
importantly,
you
know
how
how
the
project
presents
itself
and
we've
decided,
we
being
the
people
who
are
on
the
steering
committee
now
from
ibm
google
at
red
hat,
that
it
is
important
to
get
more
diversity
of
opinion
and
perspective
on
that
on
that
committee
and
to
that
end,
we've
I,
I
wrote
the
proposal
I
checked
in
the
pr
we
all
worked
on
this
verbiage
together
and
I'm
trying
to
come
up
with
something
that
will
guarantee
that
we
get
people
from
more
companies
on
the
on
the
steering
committee.
A
We're
really
like
fostering
this
use
of
of
the
project
as
an
ecosystem,
and
we
would
really
like
to
get
other
companies
who
have
vested
interests
in
the
success
of
the
project
to
have
a
say
in
how
the
project
is
run.
That's
essentially
what
it
comes
down
to.
So
I
encourage
you
if
you
have
not
looked
at
and
commented
on
that
pull
request.
Please
do
you'll
see
that
we
have
a
a
basically
we're
having
two
different
types
of
seats
on
the
project
on
the
steering
committee.
A
One
type
of
seat
will
be
based
on
the
amount
of
contribution
that
companies
make
to
the
project,
so
we
want
to
make
sure
that
the
companies
that
are
you
know
really
really
putting
a
lot
of
resources
into
the
project
in
terms
of
like
putting
full-time
developers,
we
want
to
make
sure
that
they
get
represented
on
the
steering
committee,
but
then
you'll
see
that
there's
also
what
we
call
community
seats
and
and
for
community
seats
we
are
going
to
introduce
an
election
and
and
that
election
is
to
allow
community
members
to
choose
other
people
to
sit
on
steering
committee.
A
These
cannot
be
from
companies
that
have
contribution
seats,
so
it
is,
it
is
going
to
be
we'll
take
the
top.
I
think
it's
three
companies
in
terms
of
contribution,
but
then,
after
that,
it's
who
the
community
feels
like
really
would
represent
themselves.
There
will
be
a
self
nomination
process
and
a
and
then
a
vote
and
our
goal.
A
There
is
to
get
other
people
who
are
really
passionate
about
the
project
and
want
to
steer
it
in
the
right
direction,
whether
they
are
from
contributors,
whether
they're
from
users
would
be
would
be
more
than
welcome
up
there.
So
please
take
a
look
at
that
pr
in
in
the
steering
committee
charter.
A
It
is
yeah,
you
know,
as
I
said,
we've
always
been
committed
to
open
governance,
we're
really
trying
to
open
it
up
and
we're
really
trying
to
make
sure
that
the
the
companies
and
the
people
who
who
really
care
about
the
success
of
the
of
the
project
are
getting
represented
at
that
level.
Again,
the
steering
committee
does
not
set
the
technical
agenda
for
the
project.
That's
the
toc.
The
toc
is
a
you
know.
A
We
have
a
progression
from
you
know,
contributor
to
maintainer
to
working
group
lead
it's
a
toc
that
exists,
but
where
we
want
to
get
it
for
people
who
have
a
say
in
how
the
project
is
run.
So
take
a
look
at
that
and
comment
on
that.
Pr.
If
you're
interested,
we
will,
I
hope,
get
that
hammered
out.
The
existing
steering
committee
members
will
will
vote
on
it
sometime
soon
and
then
we
would
schedule
an
election
very
quickly
to
elect
some
community
numbers
so
check
that
out.
A
I
see
that
our
our
tpm
schwetta
did
put
the
1.7
status
in
here,
although
she
is
not
up
here
to
give
the
update,
I
am
woefully
under
qualified
to
give
this
update,
but
as
always,
the
this
dock
is
open
and
people
can
look
at
it.
Work
for
1.7
is,
as
you
can
see,
well
underway
and
as
always,
there's
a
lot
on
it.
So
if
you
are
contributing
to
1.7.
Thank
you
very
much.
A
I
already
do
hear
people
talking
about
what's
going
to
go
into
1.8,
but
as
you
can
see,
there
is
there's
a
lot
going
on
in
1.7
right
now.
Does
anyone
have
any
updates
from
the
any
contributors
here
have
anything
in
particular
that
they'd
like
to
call
attention
to.
A
Okay,
it
doesn't
seem
so
I
would
like
to
check
out
the
august
5th
cncf
webcast
on
debugging
with
istio
someone
put
this
on
the
agenda.
B
Yeah,
hey
dan,
it
was
me
yeah,
it's
near
edge
and
john
are
doing
that.
One
in
a
couple
weeks
here
should
be
a
good
one.
A
A
An
all-star,
that's
an
all-star
cast
right
there
right,
yeah,
so
niraj
and
john
are
two.
Two
working
group
leads.
A
A
Yeah,
that's
great,
you
know
what
the
other
thing
I
will
do.
I
will
put
that
on
the
istio
community
calendar.
I
think
craig
actually.
A
I
can
peek
over
there.
He
does
have
right
access
over
there.
It
is
on
there.
Yes,
as
always
the
you
know
back
when
meetups
existed
in
the
world,
we
did.
We
did
try
to
make
sure
all
those,
the
local
events
and
internet
events
are
on
the
community
calendar,
so
craig
box,
so
new
to
that
cool,
I
probably
will
try
and
and
check
that
out.
Okay.
Well,
that's,
as
I
said,
a
very
light
agenda
today.
So
now
is
typically.
A
When
we
open
the
floor
to
questions,
we
don't
necessarily
have
all
of
the
all
of
the
the
technical
people
here
can
who
can
take
them
on?
Sometimes
we
do.
Sometimes
we
don't.
If
you
do
have
questions.
This
is
a
perfectly
good
time
to
to
ask
them,
and
if
we
don't
have
someone
here
on
the
call
who
can
answer
it,
we
can
often
direct
you
to
the
right
people
or
the
right
working
group
to
take
that
on.
A
So
I
I
will
open
the
floor
and
if
anyone
has
any
questions,
they
can
speak
up
and
if
they
don't,
I
guess
we
can
all
get
back
to
work.
So
does
anyone
have
any.
A
Okay,
well,
it
seems
like
it's
a
light
summer
month
and
and
people
are
off
out
and
about
we
have
releases
coming
up.
So
I
have
plenty
of
stuff
on
my
plate
yeah.
So
I
guess
we
will
wrap
this
up
I'll,
just
say
one
more
time
in
the
istio
community.
Rico
do
look
at
that
pull
request.
A
We've
been
through
a
bunch
of
revisions,
don't
feel
the
need
to
comment,
but
if
you
see
anything
very
important,
let
us
know
and
do
think
about
for
your
companies
if
you
think
that
or
or
yourselves,
if
you'd
like
to
get
a
seat,
you'd
earn
one
weekly
meeting
hope
for
sitting
on
the
steering
committee
and
you
would
get
a
voice
for
for
how
the
project
markets
itself
and
how
we
run
the
project.
A
So
so
I
I
think
we're
gonna
be
able
to
work
out
the
details
on
this
and
yeah.
I
look
forward
to
getting
some
some
new
people
on
that
steering
committee.
So
all
right
with
that,
I
will
stop
this
recording
and
thank
everybody.
