A
First,
item
on
our
agenda
is
Senator:
Meredith
is
before
us
is
Senate
Bill
42,
which
has
a
committee
sub
that
was
distributed
last
night
Senator
Meredith
the
floor
is
yours
thanks.
A
C
Meredith
well,
thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
appear
before
your
committee
today
and
accommodate
my
schedule
greatly
appreciated.
This
is
truly
one
of
those
simple
little
bills
that
we
hear
so
much
about.
But
you
may
remember.
During
the
2022
legislative
session
we
passed
Senate
Bill
68,
which
called
for
analyzing
100
percent
of
prescription
benefit
claims
of
our
state
and
employee
health
plan,
an
interesting
enough.
That's
about
20
percent
of
the
claims
under
that
insurance
and
just
to
share
some
quick
statistics
with
you.
C
This
summer
we
had
a
a
contract,
a
government
contract
review
for
a
half,
a
million
dollars
which
is
anticipated
payments
going
to
be
made
to
this
company
who's
going
to
do
the
the
audits.
So
if
you
do
the
math
on
this
I
think
they
get
30.
33
percent
they're
projecting
potential
1.5
million
dollars
in
savings
for
the
state
at
no
cost.
The
state
and
I
think
they're
being
very
conservative
in
the
projections.
C
On
the
other
side,
you
look
at
the
the
other
inpatient
specifically
and
we're
spending
two
382
million
dollars
in
2021
on
inpatient
health
care
for
state
employees
and
again
I'll
share
with
you
very
briefly
that,
according
to
estimates,
80
percent
of
U.S
medical
bills
contain
some
kind
of
error
and
with
another
80
percent,
there's
about
25
to
30
percent
that
have
an
overcharge.
C
You
know
more
specifically
for
over
ten
thousand
dollars
in
inpatient
bill.
There's
projected
a
one
one
thousand
three
hundred
dollar
overcharge,
so
you
do
the
math
very
quickly
on
this
382
million
in
charges
here,
potential
savings
are
multi
me
and
if
we
do
this,
so
I
propose
when
we
do
the
same
thing
with
medical
claims
that
we
did
with
prescription.
Drug
claims
is
that
we
direct
the
cabinet
to
do
an
RFP
to
hire
a
firm
on
a
continuity
basis
to
do
100
audited
medical
claims.
That's.
