From YouTube: Our Mobile App - Christofer Zorn
A
Well,
good
morning,
everybody
I'd
like
to
thank
the
organizers
for
quahog
us
for
having
given
me
the
chance
to
present.
Today
I'm
a
little
disappointed.
I
wasn't
being
able
to
be
there
in
person,
but
I
hope
everyone
is
doing
well
and
staying
safe
and
I
can't
wait
to
see
you
guys
next
next
year
at
the
conference
again,
my
name
is
christopher
and
I'm
the
coordinator
of
technology
at
the
ajax
public
library,
just
quickly
about
ajax
ajax,
is
located
in
ontario
canada
about
45
minutes
east
of
toronto.
A
It's
a
quick
1400
mile
drive
northeast
of
mckinney
through
michigan,
just
a
bit
of
history
on
ajax
ajax
dates
back
to
1941.
When
it
began
creating
supplies
for
the
allies
in
world
war
ii,
the
name
was
chosen
to
honor
one
of
the
three
ships
that
engaged
the
german
battleship.
A
Our
library
has
three
locations,
not
including
our
online
presence
and
serves
a
population
of
about
125
thousand
people.
Our
collection
is
at
about
180
000
items
in
11,
different
languages.
Languages,
sorry,
which
is
very
neat.
A
So
again,
thank
you
again
for
choosing
to
attend
my
talk
today.
I'm
very
excited
to
give
it
I'd
like
to
go
over
just
our
mobile
app
I'll,
be
touching
a
bit
on
the
how
and
the
why
of
the
app
and
doing
a
quick,
walkthrough
and
showing,
I
guess,
maybe
bragging
a
little
bit
but
showing
a
little
bit
about
the
stats
that
we've
seen
so
far.
A
A
One
of
our
migration
decisions
that
we
made
was
to
cut
the
app
because
of,
I
guess,
poor
interpretation
of
the
stats
at
the
time,
and
I
will
own
that
the
google
store
and
the
ipad
or
the
apple
store
showed
that
we
had
very
low
installation
an
uptake,
and
there
was
nobody
ever
really
asked
about
the
app
and
there
were
times
when
I
may
have
not
updated
it
intentionally
to
see.
If
someone
asked
and
no
one
did
so,
we
made
the
assumption
that
losing
the
app
would
be
would
be
okay.
A
A
A
A
The
first
versions
relied
heavily
on
sip
connection
smoke
and
mirrors.
Searching
was
done
through
a
plug-in
and
access
to
report.
The
return
results
had
little
to
no
relevance
to
the
search
term
and
it
returned
only
the
first
50
results
due
to
poor
search
speeds.
We
were,
I
think,
I
go
over
this
in
a
stat
later,
but
we
we're
seeing
search
speeds
return
in
like
12
to
15
seconds,
which
feels
like
an
eternity
when
you're
you're
hoping
to
get
it
back.
A
The
original
version
placed
whole.
I'm
sorry
in
the
original
version.
Placing
holds
was
possible,
but
it
showed
basic
account
information.
The
app
the
first
version
of
the
app
was
good,
but
it
was
not
great.
A
A
Initially
the
cover
heart
was
hit,
cover,
art
was
hit
or
miss,
and
some
of
it
was
borrowed
from
synthetics,
I'm
hoping
it
was
done
legitimately
movie
cover
art
was
pulled
from
a
third
party
source
search,
results
were
slow
and
the
early
version,
I'm
sorry
the
search
results
were
slow
on
the
early
version
of
the
app.
As
I
had
alluded
to
and
many
times
returning
results
in
five
to
ten
seconds.
A
Enter
aspen
version,
1.5
of
our
app
was
released
in
march
2021,
so
after
almost
a
full
year
after
we
went
live
and
it
aspenized
the
app
we
were
able
to
lean
heavily
on
the
api
calls
to
bridge
the
gap
between
the
ap
app
and
the
ils.
A
A
A
A
The
patron
was
greeted
with
a
login
screen
when
they
need
to
authenticate
with
their
barcode
and
their
pin
number,
which
I
will
do
now
and
the
first
time
I
tried
this.
It
crashed.
So
I'm
hoping
it
does
not.
A
A
A
A
A
A
I'm
just
going
to
back
up
here
again
and
down
here.
We
have
what
we
call
our
quick
searches.
These
are
cultivated
once
a
week
or
so
and
provide
different
search
topics.
We
try
to
be
kind
of
tongue-in-cheek
with
some
of
them
and
cute,
but
the
varying
success
of
how
they
work
and
again,
once
you
click
on
an
item
from
here,
you're
brought
to
the
same
place
a
hold
screen
where
you
can
see
what
the
title
is
place,
a
whole
hold
location,
see
if
I
can
grab
one
that
has
more
than
one
hold
type.
A
A
This
discreet,
this
barcode
will
actually
work
at
both
our
checkout
locations
and
on
our
self-check
machines.
A
The
account
tab
again
through
the
use
of
aspen
has
given
seen
the
most
growth
in
our
latest
version
beyond
showing
what
items
a
patron
has
out
and
allowing
them
to
renew
the
app.
It
also
shows
items
that
they
have
on
hold
so
looking
quickly
here,
customizes
it
with
my
name.
The
barcode
is
important
as
well
for
us
what
they
have
out
and
what
they
have
on
hold.
A
I
accidentally
clicked
the
wrong
button
in
quahog
this
morning,
so
I
can't
show
you
that
this
one
was
grossly
overdue,
but
it
will
list
my
items
in
right
now.
It
lists
the
items
it
will
highlight
the
ones
in
yellow
that
are
due
within
the
next
week
and
then
this
one
you
would
have
seen
had
I
not
clicked
the
wrong
button
that
it
was
red
because
it
was
approaching
within.
I
think
it's
three
days
of
due
or
overdue,
so
it
appeared
there.
A
One
of
the
coolest
features
we've
seen.
Is
this
renew
all
button?
It's
given
again
a
chance
to
renew
everything
at
once,
which
is
a
kind
of
a
neat
thing.
Otherwise
you
can
click
here
and
renew
the
book
individually
and
provided
the
there
are
no
holds
or
the
other
things
that
prevent
a
hold
for
a
research
from
happening.
It
will
continue.
A
A
It's
basically
ways
to
contact
us
through
in
keeping
up
with
news
and
programs
and
opportunities
to
download
our
newsletter
to
see
it
in
real
time
as
it's
as
it's
published.
A
So
I'm
just
gonna
slip
back
to
my
presentation.
Apparently
from
the
beginning
there
we
go
installation.
Initially,
growth
was
slow,
but
it
was
aided
by
a
push
on
both
our
website
and
our
email
publication
for
us
here.
The
covid
declines
were
very
real.
We
were
closed
for,
I
believe
we
closed
march
in
of
2020
and
we
we
remained
closed
until
late
summer.
A
So
we
we
did
see
some
usage
stats.
Obviously
we
saw
some
useful
stats
drop,
but
the
app
kind
of
kept
us
afloat
for
a
little
bit.
We
were
tracking,
although
we
tracked
both
searching
and
holds.
A
For
circulation
for
the
most
parts,
our
hold
of
trended
positively,
as
we've
emerged
from
covid
renewal
data,
has
ebbed
and
flowed
with
the
severity
of
the
coveted
lockdowns.
When
we
first,
when
we
first
went,
we
were
just
pushing
people's
renewal
dates
forward,
so
they
didn't
have
to
worry
about
them.
But
now
that
we've
moved
back
in,
you
can
see
that
we've
seen
steady
growth
in
both
the
number
of
holds
placed
and
renewals
over
time.
A
So,
where
are
we
now?
We're
constantly
striving
to
make
the
app
faster
and
more
relevant,
we're
hoping
to
add
some
new
functionality
coming
up
this
year,
which
would
allow
staff
cultivated
lists
in
either
aspen
or
koha
to
appear
we're
I'm
going
to
work
on
enhancing
the
security
features,
one
of
the
really
cool
features
that
almost
made
it
into
this
most
recent
version
was
the
ability
to
scan
the
upc
of
a
book
to
search.
A
I
had
it
working,
but
there
was
a
thing
with
apple
that
I
couldn't
make
it
work
there
there's
a
permissions
issue
that
I
have
to
work
through,
so
it
didn't
make
it,
but
it's
it
should
be
in
the
next
version
and
I'm
looking
to
search
the
sort,
sorry
sort
the
search
results
within
the
app
to
provide
better
usage
for
and
better
interaction
for
the
people.
A
There
are
a
lot
of
other
opportunities.
However,
I
hope
to
see
usage
skyrocket
once
we
we're
post-covered
time.
A
So
I
moved
through
this
much
faster
than
I
thought
I
would,
but
thank
you
for
attending
the
session
versions
of
the
app
are
available
online.
If
you're,
an
aspen
library,
you
can
speak
directly
to
aspen,
as
they,
I
believe,
are
rolling
it
out
shortly
as
well.
B
So,
like
I
said,
there's
a
five
or
six
second
delay
between
zoom
and
and
youtube.
So
let
me
I'm
going
to
push
you
over
to
a
different
screen
here
and.
B
There
is
a
question
here
from
christopher
brannan.
He
asks
have
you
considered,
allowing
patrons
to
check
out
items
in
their
hand
with
their
app.
A
A
B
Right,
okay.
Does
that
answer
your
question
there,
christopher
the
other
christopher.
A
The
app
does
play
nicely.
I
forgot
to
mention
this
too.
The
app
plays
very
nicely
with
overdrive,
we're
still
working
on
making
it
play
nicely
with
hoopla
and
other
third-party
systems.
I
believe
the
systems,
I'm
not
sure
if
it's
a
canadian
thing
the
systems
we
have
up
here
differ
from
your
guys.
Just
a
little
bit
I
mean
we
don't
have
some
of
the
breadth
of
the
ones
you
guys
do
so
hoopla
is
hopefully
coming
but
overdrive.
It
plays
very
nicely
with.
B
Cool
there's
another
question
here
from
rebecca
court.
I
hope
I'm
pronouncing
that
right.
If
not
I'm
sorry
rebecca
how
many
accounts
can
you
manage
in
your
app?
Can
you
have
more
than
one
one
card
in
there
for
like
a
family,
can
you
put
like
five
different
family
members.
A
I'm
hoping
yes
at
some
point
right
right
now.
We
don't
have
that
functionality,
because
it's
not
it
wasn't
instrumental
in
getting
the
app
up
and
running,
which
was
the
which
was
the
goal
initially,
I
believe,
if
it
wasn't
rebecca,
somebody
mentioned
that
in
the
aspen
meeting
as
well-
and
I
took
note
of
it
and
it's
it's
on
the
list
of
things
to
look
at
it's
just
not
right
at
the
top
of
the
list.
At
this
very
moment,
it's
it's.
B
A
Yeah
at
the
start
it
was
like.
I
said
it
was
very
much
learning
on
the
fly
to
the
point
where
we
were
kind
of
throwing
the
app
up
to
the
app
store,
and
once
I
got
the
email
that
was
published,
I
was
flying
to
an
ipad
to
see
if
it
worked.
Otherwise,
I
would
pull.
A
We
learned
a
lot
like.
I
said
we
learned
a
lot
about
test
flight.
We
learned
a
lot
about
how
to
test
it
properly.
I
could
test
it
on
the
my
iphone,
I'm
sorry,
my
android
phone
and
it
worked
and
then
all
of
a
sudden
I
would
get
messages
from
internal
staff.
Members
about
the
ipads
or
their
apple
devices
were
breaking
because
I
didn't
see
the
error
messages
so
again,
very
much
learning
on
the
fly
I
enjoy.
I'm
appreciative
of
the
rope
I
was
given
by
my
management
team
here
to
do
that,
but.
B
Okay,
christopher
brandon
says
blasted
rfid
and
then
it
sounds
like
we
did
answer
you
did
answer
his
question:
victor's,
ninga
and
again.
I
hope
I'm
pronouncing
that
correctly
and
if
not
victor
I
apologize.
Can
you
provide
a
link
to
the
github
repo.
A
100
sorry,
thank
you,
christopher
and
rebecca
for
your
questions
as
well,
and
victor
I
will
happily
send.
Is
there
if.
B
B
So
mark
is
asking
or
he's
I
don't
know
if
it's
a
question
so
much
as
a
comment
he's
saying
we're
talking
with
fe
technologies
about
way
to
do
checkout
within
the
app
and
have
it
desensitize
the
checkout
gates.
So
it
sounds
like
mark
is
working
on
this
with
you.
There.
A
You
know
we're.
A
That's
another
one
of
those
things
that's
on
the
it's
closer
to
the
top
of
the
list
than
the
multiple
cards
push.
Notifications
are
something
that
is
on
the
horizon.
A
So
the
issue
we
ran
across
with
the
access
to
the
camera
on
the
ios
device
push
notifications
might
become
an
issue
because
we're
not
developing
in
native
swift,
so
there
I
will
have
to
do
a
little
bit
of
digging.
But
yes,
push.
Notifications
is
something
that
was
asked
for
almost
immediately
after
we
pushed
out
the
app
but
yep,
that's
okay,
hopefully
on
the
horizon.
B
Let's
see
there's
another,
I
don't
know
if
this
is
a
comment
or
question,
let
me
read
it
it's
another
one
from
mark.
Oh
and
it
sounds
like
do.
We
have
a
question
from
somebody
in
the
audience
in
mckinney.
C
Well,
this
is
mark.
I
I
mark
nope
from
water
solutions-
hey
chris
yeah,
so
there
were
just
some
questions
that
I'm
happy
to
answer
too
about
where
bywater's
version
of
the
app
is
too
so
yeah
like
we're
we're
iterating
with
christopher
on
this
a
lot
too
so
we'll
we'll
definitely
be
working
on
some
of
those
there's
notifications
as
well.
B
Yeah,
okay
and
I'm
seeing.
B
Well
victor
says:
I
pronounced
his
name
right,
so
I'm
I'm
glad
about
that.
I
don't
remember
how
I
pronounced
it.
So
don't
ask
me
to
do
it
again.
A
There
are
two
versions,
essentially
two
versions
of
the
app
one
does
involve
the
most
recent
one
does
involve
aspen.
There
is
the
github
one
does
not
okay,
so
it
is.
B
B
All
right
and
I'm
not
seeing
any
new
questions
on
youtube,
live
I'm
seeing
a
couple
of
other
comments,
so
any
other
questions
from
anybody,
either
at
mckinney
or
or
in
youtube.
B
Excellent,
let
me
go
over
and
put
that
in
the
door.
B
And
everybody
seems
to
they
they're
saying:
got
it
on
youtube,
so
I'm
hoping
that's
in
response
to
the
link.
I
just
put
there
all
right
thanks
a
lot
awesome.
B
Yeah,
I
think
it
looks
like
a
really
cool
app.
I'm
interested
to
take
a
take.
