Okay, well welcome everyone yet again to the kohai acquisitions user group meeting. We've got about nine people here this morning or afternoon, depending on where you're checking in from and our agenda was pretty light.

There is now a link to the co-hosts by US special interest groups that was shared in the agenda email for this meeting and has anyone gotten a chance to hop over there and check it out.

mmm Suspect not yet no hands getting raised, so that's just to bring a little bit more awareness. We've also got our Koha acquisitions user group listed on the community site. So when you get the chance to let your colleagues know to go check out the acquisitions group on call us, let's see if we can recruit more members, I see that few people haven't checked it out yet. But you can definitely do that. Anytime and I'll have the link to the chat room.

So I personally, don't have a bug to discuss specific to acquisitions, so I'd like to open it up to the group. Does it even have some bugs that they want to talk about or enhancements or acquisitions questions, so we can work together and maybe tackle of you.

So Jeannie shares I'm curious to know if anyone is using purchase suggestions. Does anyone have purchased suggestions, anecdotes or maybe we could respond in the comment, the chat, if you're using it and what do you think of it so.

I, don't we don't use acquisitions, but that's the only piece of it we do use so I can't actually jump in and contribute on that we have purchased suggestions turned on, so we let our our patrons put in purchase, suggestions and then we're a consortium. So the library directors at each library are expected to go in and manage the purchase suggestions on a regular basis, just to say yes or no we're gonna buy that or not so.

Yeah, if you have specific questions, I can answer how we handle things, but, like I said, we don't use the rest of acquisition so at at the point of purchase. After that, we don't really follow through with anything beyond that. In the acquisitions module wool will add the hold for the patron manually and then just go on from there.

And I have another thing: I have tried to encourage my libraries to to also use the staff side of purchase sessions where you can pull up the patron and place a purchase suggestion on their behalf, just to keep track of things in Koha better. But we don't have a lot of use on this. The staff initiated patron purchase suggestion front. Most of our our purchase suggestions do come directly from the patrons from the OPAC, so.

Hi, this is Daphne here from interleaf and we have one of our libraries, particularly actually Institute of Technology, and they use purchase suggestions for their entire acquisitions workflow, and so they have set up a few views just to suit that requirement and they're. Also em they've sponsored a couple of enhancements with PT Avesta, so they're being tested at moment. So I might have more to report at the next meeting.

Oh excellent and as Marjorie points out, if you haven't taken a look at your person suggestions in a while, you might want to go check up on them in the staff trying to see. What's all been suggestion, Genie does that satisfy some of your curiosity on that and we can definitely talk about it for a bit. I do think it's one of the fun customer service modules and, if you're not using the rest of acquisitions, that functions pretty well as a standalone tool.

Nice, so Jeannie is fine tuning the library's workflow there, any other acquisitions questions specific to budgets, funds, vendors, anything that's been asked or come up in conversation since our last meeting.

Okay, Holly is sharing in the chat. Some of our libraries that she supports are curious about this bug. There's not much movement on it recently and it is bug one four, zero, three eight. So let's take a look at that one together.

The bug is, make it possible to record the date the order was placed sent to the vendor.

And I'd say it's one of those vintage bugs from 2015 originally.

I'm a little curious if anyone's, tried or observed this recently so since it hasn't had much movement on it in a while it'd, be cool to confirm and update it. That's this specific date setting is still not available via the acquisitions module link and that might get some new attention on it from the developers and the rest of the community.

Is it a point of concern for curiosity to anyone else.

At this particularly becomes an issue if you are using EDI being hot, what happens is when you create the basket it assumed that the date you created the basket applies to every item in the basket and that's when the order and all the items are actually ordered. But if you hold some of them over, then you just don't have an accurate thing and I think that's why people want it in Ireland anyway,.

So I'd say at least for this bag if anyone's got some time to play around and comment on, it confirm that they're still observing it in your local koha system. You could definitely start talking about this one and confirm this is so an uncomfortable limitation.

For kind of the sake of recapping, as you seem to do each week, if you are curious about what's a hot new bug where the oldest one Excel about acquisitions, you can go over to the component acquisitions and take a look at what I'll be currently open unresolved to bugs are in the system, and they do use worked all this to newest, so I'm a little curious. What's currently at the top of the list, it doesn't hurt you occasionally familiarize yourself with these things, see if it's coming up in your system, it's just the support.

Wanna tell us a little bit more about your experiences with Jason.

Sure we, we do add, record sicko. ha We just do the monthly updates, so they um they gave us an FTP site to go to and they they create different mark files of what's popular. So they do like a top 100 top 500 and maybe the whole thing I. Don't know we just do top 500 in each category because we didn't want to overwhelm like because when you bring in your records to go hot, it flows those results to the top.

So we didn't want to overwhelm our physical collection, but once a month we delete out the old records and then put in the new records from the FTP site. I'd love to see that more automated for sure, like some of the other services and I know, there's work being done on that, but that's how we currently handle them and.

I will confirm, there's work being on done on scene, API, integration between Koha and hoopla. I- just don't have specifics, but it's brought up fairly often.

Well, I do have a question for the group and since about a meeting or two ago, we've agreed to use the co hot positions, let's serve the general Kohala listserv and whichever other ones. We particularly like to make sure that we're sending these questions out and also needing dates, notifications and agendas has that been working for everyone. Are you getting notified in a timely matter, or do you feel like there's more ways?

We can improve the communication just to make sure everyone's aware about positions and talking about it and it's getting the kind of spotlight and attention it deserves to keep this special interest group rolling forward.

What else could you do to promote a group good.

Question I'd love to brainstorm on that we I'm speaking a little out of turn that inner, Rhonda and I think a few other collaborators will be talking at the Kohath on in April. So looking forward to that, one and also I think it's never too early to start talking about Kauai u.s. conference and who's going to be there to stump for acquisitions, since the voting is now open and available for a Kauai US conference, at least two.

So if you remember of Kauai, you asked- and you haven't voted yet remember- to do so- which place you'd like to go for the conference and use that as an opportunity to stop for the bugs were interested in the enhancements and also attract more people to think critically about how items get into their system.

Okay, cool yeah, I, didn't notice the other day, I'm on that committee for co-author, and you guys are have ten minutes on how I get started with acquisition and Rhonda's also put one in that's just join the acquisitions groups. I think those are good ways to promote and I know that we're planning on doing little, like bumpers, between videos and stuff and to promote some of what we have to offer so that'll be good.

I'd say the same goes for the kohai International Conference. My folks don't recognize any names that are coming out of New, Zealand right now or southern hemisphere and I apologize. If you are, you do wave your hand, genie says vote for McKinney, especially if you're in Texas so bleep in Jason, correct me: it's McKinney in Texas. She go in California Madison in Alabama zero.
