Description
What are the challenges as a bank to deploy a new API platform?
HSBC's Jen Goodison and Gareth Ainsworth join JFrog's Baruch Sadogursky to discuss at Kong Summit 2022.
Learn by HSBC chose Kong to help them enhance the power of APIs, and how the neural network of APIs allows HSBC to release faster, more security, increase control, consolidate APIs, and better serve their clients internationally.

Hello
and
welcome
back
to
Indianapolis,
2022
and
I
have
two
very
a
student
guests
with
me
today
from
HSBC
Bank,
Jen
and
Gareth.
We
just
stepped
out
of
state
of
the
keynote's
dimension
of
the
summit
when
they
spoke
about
what.
B
So
we
needed
to
speak
about
the
challenges
that
we
have
as
a
bank
in
deploying
a
new
API
platform,
and
we
didn't
really
want
to
talk
about
the
technology.
Other
people
can
do
that
better
than
we
can,
but
we
were
to
talk
about
when
the
organizational
challenges
how
complicated
we
could
be,
how
the
different
parts
of
the
bank
were
working
together.
To
make
this
a
successful
all.
C
So
I
think
the
reason
why
why
come
and
why
HSBC
is
because
we
saw
it
as
an
opportunity
to
actually
help
us
derive
a
simplification
agenda
to
the
bank,
we're
sorry
as
an
opportunity
to
stop
the
proliferation
of
Technology.
We've
got
a
lot
of
apis.
Actually,
we
don't
know
how
many
apis
we
have
so
there's
a
number
of
reasons
why
we
would
choose
they've
got
electron
and
it
was
a
very
easy
reason
why
the
problem
will
survives
which,
what
what
is
this
reason
I
think
it
gives
us
the
opportunity
to
discover
what
we
didn't
know.
C
A
C
A
C
Exactly
we
are
sang
here
behind
the
steps
together,
but
in
reality
we're
a
million
miles
apart
in
how
we
work
at
the
back.
Of
course,
we've
used
con.
We've
used
the
summary
as
an
example
to
bring
our
organizations
together,
even
though
we're
part
of
the
same
organization
and
I
think
Kong
gives
us
the
ability
that
lens
on
our
technology
and
that
consummational
level
not
transformational
capability.
It's
very
difficult
to
see
with
a.
A
Large
Bank,
like
ours,
I
think
this
is
this
is
extraordinary
I
mean
I,
don't
know
how
many
of
our
of
our
audience
kind
of
realized
that
how
important
and
it
and
kind
of
news
product
of
API
Gateway
is
to
the
pace
of
innovation
in
larger
Enterprise
organizations.
It's
not
intuitive
to
think
about
it.
This
way
I
mean
it's
just
an
API
Gateway.
How
important
can
it
be?
And
what
do
you
say
it's
it's!
It's
really
transformational
and
eye-opening
yeah,
it's
systemic!
So.
C
Everything
we
do
everything
we
do
for
our
customers
everywhere
talks
through
one
of
those
apis
to
something
else.
It
really
is
that
I
think
genuine
said
it
great.
It
really
is
that
you're
the
left
hand
of
the
neural
network,
I'm
the
right
hand,
and
we
don't
interact.
We
don't
talk
something
like
wrong
coming
in
to
help
us.
It
really
enables
us
to
discover
to
simplify
to
modernize
in
a
very
unique
way.
B
Yeah
we
have
the
same
problems
that
most
of
the
people
here
have
it's
a
different
scale,
but
it's
the
same
set
of
problems.
I.
Think,
like
you
say
there
are
some
people
who've
come
up
to
us
afterwards
and
gone
whoa.
I
mean
the
size
of
your
life,
but
we
are
tackling
the
same
things.
We're
just
doing
it
in
probably
a
much
bigger
scale.
Yeah.
B
We've
had
some
great
conversations
while
we've
been
here
with
people
who
are
tackling
the
same
problems,
maybe
slightly
ahead
of
us
or
maybe
slightly
behind
us,
and
it's
been
fantastic.
It's
been
fantastic
to
see
that
everyone
else
is
sort
of
having
the
same
challenges,
but
also
it's
been
great
to
hear
from
them
how
they
solve
them.
Yeah,
and
then
you
know
it's
it's
a
great
community
of
people,
I
think
yeah.
C
A
Yeah,
no,
that's
that's
a
good
idea,
like
kind
of
an
Enterprise
level,
collaboration
yeah,
what
the
developer
democracy
team
is
doing,
go
on
the
one
day,
engineering
level
when
they
learn
from
each
other
and
share
them
yeah.
Maybe
there
is
like
a
need
for
the
same
forum
for
a
business
and
Enterprise
yeah.
C
Exactly
yeah
I
think
the
same
way
that
there
is
there
is
that
Forum,
where
we
need
for
people
like
Aggie
and
Marco
and
Reza
in
front
of
our
business.
They
would.
They
would
really
land
a
message
with
our
business
yeah.
We
try
this
every
day
and
we
fail
sometimes,
but
if
you
can
fully
see
the
power
of
data,
the
information,
the
opportunities
you
can
get
from
your
apis,
there's
no
better
people
to
demonstrate
it
than
the
guys
that
create
the
product.
Yeah
well,.
