the
govalfa
team
at
maker,
dao
and
I'll
be
hosting
the
call
this

delighted

two
new
delegate
teams
to
come
and
chat
to
us.
We've
got
the
london
business
school
and
blockchain
at
columbia.

going

came
together

beginning
of
the
school
year
in
september,
with
really
one
mission
in
mind
to
first
of
all,
make
the
blockchain
technology
more
accessible
to
our
peers,
as
well
as
preparing
our
peers
for
the
you
know,
opportunities
that
we
see
in
so
having
started
this
year.
We
have
been
very
active.

So
we
are
made
up
of
15
executive
members
that
meet
up
on
a
weekly
basis
to
make
sure
that
we're
really,
you
know
sticking
to
our
mission
that
we
are
aligned
across
organization.
An
organization
has
so
far
been
made
up
of
six
different
pillars.
We
have
research
trading
partnerships,
web3
labs,
as
well
as
events
and
marketing,
so
we
would
meet
up
on
a
weekly
basis,
make
sure
that
we
have
events
lined
up
because
what
we
really
have
realized
of
the
london
business
school.

The
investment
banks
and
boutique
hedge
funds
or
other
financial
institutions,
which
I
think
you
know
is,
is
a
quite
good
starting
point.
If
you
view
blockchain
through
the
you
know,
financial
technology
lens,
but
given,
even
though
we
have
this
talent
that
is
very
deep
into
finance,
I
still
find
that
we
often
have
to
pick
up
the
students
from
the
ground
level.
So
what
we've
been
doing
throughout
this
year
is
really
starting.

That
being
said,
I
think
that
the
london
business
school
is
generally
a
very
interesting
addition
to
the
maker
dow
community,
because
we
are
an
exclusive
postgraduate
school.
So
we
don't
have
any
undergrad
undergraduate
degrees,
which
really
puts
us
in
a
unique
position,
because
all
of
our
students
have
at
least
one
year
of
work
experience.

We
have
our
early
career
programs,
which
usually
average
one
to
two
years
of
work,
experience
all
the
way
up
to
the
executive
and
sloan
mba
programs,
where
you
really
have
seasoned
industry
executives
across
various
industries
that
have
decades
worth
of
experience.
So
I
think
that
makes
classroom
participation
very
interesting,
very
stimulating,
and
I
think
it's
also
a
very
good
starting
point
for
people
to
actually
take
the
plunge
into
web
3
and
into
crypto,
because
it
is
very
much
a
cross-disciplinary
disciplinary
field
where
you
need
a
base.

Understanding
of,
I
guess,
technology,
financial
markets,
as
well
as
so
technology,
financial
markets
and
politics,
a
certain
degree
as
well,
and
then
you
know,
once
you
go
go
into
the
weeds
of
dowels
and
fts.
I
think
there
are
so
many
different
nuances
that
come
into
play
that
it
really
helps
to
be
able
to.
You
know
tap
into
a
talent
base
that
is
very
diverse
in
their
experiences
and
in
their
especially
in
their
professional
careers.

just
to
recap,
you
know
we
are
we're
an
active
community
of
600
members.
I
have
with
me
here
max
as
well,
who
will
be-
who
is
the
current
vice
president
of
this
year
and
he
will
be
leading
the
club
going
into
the
next
year,
as
I
will
be
graduating
in
two
months
as
well
as
we
have
our
research
team
on
board,
whom
I
will
be
introducing.

have
so
before
our
hackathon
or
before
our
conference
in
april,
I
got
to
attend
the
harvard
blockchain
conference,
as
I'm
aware
that
quite
a
few
of
you
have
attended
that
one
as
well
as
well
as
the
columbia
lionhack,
which
I
think
was
really
a
great
great
event
so
props
to
to
jamin
and
and
the
entire
team
at
the
columbia
blockchain
club.
I
think
they
were
also
a
great
inspiration
in
our
setting
up
the
society
here.

with
that
sorted
and
out
of
the
way,
I
think
we're
really
set
up
to
be
a
long,
lasting
part
of
the
broader
lbs
community
and
going
forward.

think
we're
really
looking
forward
to
being
able
to
give
our
students
here.
You

the
opportunity
to
learn
web3
in
a
very
hands-on
way
by
being
active
in
the
maker
forum
by
participating
in
a
decentralized
autonomous
organization
and
actually
seeing
what
it
means
to
be
managing.

a
treasury,
that's
worth
hundreds
of
millions,
sometimes
even
billions
worth
of
dollars,
just
really
through
clicks
on
the
computer.
I
think
that's
really
one
one
of
these
moments
that
you
don't
really
truly
understand.
I
think
the
power
of
web
three
and
two
you've
really
participated
in
these
new
forms
of
organizations
and
with
that
being
said,
I
would
like
to
just
put
a
little
spotlight.
I
guess
on
our
research
team,
which
I
think
is
is
ideally
positioned
to
be
taking
on.
You
know
the
role
of
the
maker
delegation
we
do
we
have.

beau
who's,
unfortunately
not
able
to
make
this
call,
who
has
more
than
five
years
of
experience,
working
at
jp
morgan
as
a
portfolio
manager,
and
then
we
also
have
alex
who's
been
working
in
the
australian
reserve
bank
for
a
few
years
doing
research
there,
as
well
as
leo
who's,
currently
leading
the
research
efforts
of
the
leading
web
3
venture
capital
fund
fabric
ventures.
So
without
you
know
getting
too
too
far
into
that,
I'd
rather
pass
it
on
to
alex,
as
well
as
leo,
to
introduce
themselves.

I'll

first,
yeah
hi
everyone,
I'm
glad
to
be
here.
Yeah,
like
like
clement,
said
I
spent
the
most
of
my
career
working
in
australia.
Central
bank
mostly
did
economic
research
there
with
a
focus
on
financial
stability,
so
cryptocurrencies
in
blockchain
obviously
came
up
there
as
sort
of
I
guess
what
you
call
an
emergent
risk,
something
that
wasn't
quite
risky
enough
to
focus
on
yet,
but
something
we
were
interested
in
keeping
an
eye
on.
So
I
did
a
bit
of
work
there
and
then
yeah.

I
decided
to
come
back
and
do
an
mba.
Yet
at
lbf,
taking
on
the
head
of
research
role
me
leo
and
beau
have
a
team
of
about
eight
people,
and
you
know
we
we
generally.
I
guess
our
goal
is
to
contribute
meaningfully
to
the
the
research
and
analytical
conversations
going
on
around
crypto,
so
each
person
that
we
we
have
in
our
team
sort
of
tries
to
come
up
with.

a
research
topic
and
something
they'd
like
to
explore,
and
then
they
sort
of
go
from
there
into
preparing
like
a
research,
article
or
analytical
piece
of
some
kind.
Yeah,
I'm
finishing
my
mba.
Next
year
and
finally
enough,
I'm
going
on
exchange
to
columbia
in
the
fall
so
yeah
leo
anything
for
me.

I'm
pretty
sure
that
we
have
the
like
skill
sets
to
be
able
to
contribute,
and
I
can
say
this
because
obviously
I
alone
would
have
the
necessary
skill
set,
but
us
combined
as
a
school.
We
will
definitely
be
able
to
find
a
way
to
contribute
meaningfully
to
all
of
these
proposals,
and
so
that
is
our
idea
moving
forward.

be
very
helpful
in
the
proposal
process
like
even
though
we'd
only
be
going
to
be
starting
with
a
small
amount
of
maker
and
not
as
much
like
decisive
power
in
proportion
to
our
shareholding.
But
what
we
can
offer

valuable
insight
on
the
different
projects
and
yeah.
So
that's
the
idea
and
also
like
we
want
to
like
integrate
the
research
function
at
the
lbs
blockchain
association
with
like
make
it
down
actually
go
deeper
into
all
kinds
of
research
with
you
guys
and
yeah.

a

I

wanting
to
ask,
so
I
asked
this
about
last
university
blockchain
club
that
came
to
see
us
and
I'm
going
to
ask
you
to
both
clubs
today,
I'm
quite
interested
in

making
process
within
the
the
delegate
group.
So,
for
instance,
if
you're
voting
on
a
proposal
at
make
a
dao,
how
does
your
club
come
to
that
kind
of
decision
on
what
which
way
you're
going
to
vote
is
it?

can
take
that
question,
so
we
have
a
like
a
group
of
six
people,
so
that's
going
to
be
the
president
clemens
vice
president
max
the
three
heads
of
research
alongside
carlos
who
is
managing
our
treasury.
So
we
are
going
to
actually
be
the
representative
delegate
who
is
voting
on
the
proposals
but
like
depending
from
proposal
to
proposal.

will
be
seeking
guidance
from
experts
in
the
field,
and
I
mean
I'm
sure
that,
like
there,
there
will
be
a
lot
of
proposals
that
are
going
to
be
outside
of
our
bandwidth.
So
we
do
not
want
to
have
like
600
people
voting
on
to
a
proposal
because
otherwise
it
just
does
not
like.
There
is
too
many
different
kinds
of
voices
in
the
picture
and
we
want
to
have
like.

it

was
wondering
if
you
I
would
be
willing
to
take
a
moment
to
talk
about
kind
of
the
top
point
for
your
your
delegate
platform.
You
should
bring
in

entrepreneurial
perspective
to
the
maker
protocol.
I
was
curious
if
you
would
take
a
few
moments
just
to
say
like
what
that
looks
like
from
you
and
what
some
areas
you
think
we
could
engage
in
better
with
regards
to
that.

guess
regarding
and
the
entrepreneurial
spirit
at
lbs.
I
think
it's
great
great
to
see
really
that
you
know
as
a
business
school
we
what
lbs
really
accelerates
that
is
giving
people
a
platform.
So
there's
really
a
lot
of
programs
at
lbs
that
really
cater
towards
this
demographic.
So
we
have,
for
example,
a
class
called
new
managers
development
where
you
develop
a
bench
over
10
weeks,
presented
to
a
crowd
of
lds
investors,
and
you
generally
have
a
seasoned
amount.

You
have
a
student
body,
that's
quite
seasoned
across
different
industries,
that's
specifically
coming
to
lvs,
launch
and
expenditure,
so
I
think,
having
you
know,
seen
also
how
other
universities
operate,
how
the
student
bodies
of
different
universities
are
made
up
of.
I
think,
having
this
entrepreneurial
aspect
and
perspective
really
puts
different
ideas
or
helps
give
you
a
different
perspective
on
certain
topics,
especially
once
you
go
very
research
heavy.
I
think
a
lot
of
researchers
tend
to
get
lost
within
you
know
the
small
little
details,
technicalities
and
they
tend
to
obsess
over.

You
know
some
technical
solutions
and
problems,
something
that
I've
especially
seen
as
I
was
attending.
You
know
the
hackathon
at
lbs
and
then
one
month
later,
I
was
in
hackathon
of
columbia,
which
was
almost
exclusively
computer
science
students.
So
I
think
you
know
there
there
is
that
healthy
balance
that
we
can
provide
through
our
entrepreneurial
community.
To
you
know
very
research
and
detailed
oriented
questions.

don't
thank
you,
because
kind
of
what
came
to
my
mind
is
kind
of
interesting.
Is
our
our
core
unit
operating
model
right,
our
basic
model
for
for
funding
units
funding
teams
in
the
now
ends
up
being
very
entrepreneurial
right?
You
can
propose
anything
you
want
and
our
owners
just
have
to
prove
it.
So
I
don't
know
I
I
definitely
see
a
lot
of
potential
for
bringing
that
mindset
and
and
helping
us
shape
our
our
core
unit
across.

guess,
among
you,
know
the
forum,
and
that's
also,
I
guess
one
of
the
main
main
purposes
of
this
club
is
just
to
draw
a
path
where
there's
none,
because
a
lot
of
these
students,
like
I
said
they're,
used
to
structure
they're
used
to
knowing,
if
I
go
into
consulting.
This
is
my
career
in
two
years,
four
years
and
five
years
right
same
thing
for
finance.
I
think
this
is
something
that
we
need
to
work
towards
in
crypto,
and
I
think
especially
maker
now
being
around
for
so
long
already.

Isn't
the
ideal
position
to
have
really
the
knowledge
and
expertise
to
help
us
shape
this
path.
I
think
what
we
really
want
to
work
on
with
eu
as
well
beyond
the
delegation
is
to
find
you
know
a
realistic
and
meaningful
way
and
how
to
integrate
new
talent
into
this
ecosystem
and
pretty
much
create
a
talent
funnel
for
maker
dao,
but
also
for
other
web
3
companies.

I
mentioned
from
day
one,
it
was
our
goal
to
become
a
delegate,
especially
to
work
with
a16z
with
their
delegate
program
and
we've
actually
been
in
touch
with
porter
smith.
Since
october
onwards,
we've
had
literally
the
contract
the
delegation
contract
in
our
email
since
october,
and
we
weren't
able
to
actually
execute
on
that,
because
we
were
waiting
on
receiving
the
society
status
from
university,
receiving
the
bank
account
and
now
without
all
being
sorted.

guess
I
could
ask
some
fun
philosophy
questions,
so
a
big
debate
was
always
for
firm
maker.
Is
this
kind
of
a
trade-off
between
like
preparing
for
growth
right
and
distributing
back
to
to
token
holders?
So
I
was
wondering
kind
of
where
you,
as
an
organization
felt
on
on
that
timeline
of
like
all
right.
Should
we
be
prioritizing
growth
or
returning
value
to
two
mkr
holders.

mean,
maybe
before
passing
on,
I
think,
to
the
experts
on
the
call.
Actually,
you
know
the
ones
that
we'll
be
seeing
overseeing
this.
This
delegation,
I
think,
is
worthy
to
note
that
it
seems,
like
you
know,
maker
dow
has
made
the
right
choice
in
choosing
you
know
stability
over
rapid
growth,
especially
with
the
recent
tara
luna
debacle.

So
I'd
say
that
definitely
like
that
aggressive
growth
strategy
increasing
the
capital
surplus
buffer
being
able
to
invest
in
more
riskier
projects.
I
think
that
is
the
best
way
to
go,
and
that
is
a
brilliant
strategy
that
has
been
outlined
already
so
yeah.
I
might
be
a
little
biased
because
luca
is
a
close
friend
and
also
because
like
having
looking
into
it
at
that
point,
I
definitely
think
that
that
is
the
right
way
to
go.

duty
bound

good
alpha
member
to
point
out
that
that
strategy
hasn't
yet
been
approved
by
maker
governance.
But
I
guess
that
gives
us
an
indication
about
which
way
is
the
delegate

vote

it

vote
and
that's
still
quite
an
interesting
insight.

one

big
topics

discussion
that
we

at
maker
is
kind
of
the
burn
mechanism.

kind

ties
in
what
you've
been
discussing
with
the
growth
strategy
kind
of
as
delegates.
Do
you
come
down
on
on
the
growth
only
side
of
the
fence,
or
do
you
do?
You
have
some
kind
of
some
sympathy
to
the
viewpoint
where
we
should
burn
a
little
bit
as
we
go
along
to
to
kind
of
keep
that
that
ball
rolling
as
it
were,.

so
honestly,
I
think
that
I
would
I
mean,
like
I
can't
speak
for
the
entire
school,
but
I
think
the
strategy
would
be
to
stop
burning
for
a
while
to
be
able
to
have
a
big
surplus
buffer.
Now,
we've
seen

we've

like
we've
seen
currency
issuers
explode
over
the
last
few
days,
just
because,
like
they
were
not
able
to
create
a
reserves
necessary
to
be
able
to
sustain
their
explosive
growth.

really
think
that,

increasing
the
surplus
buffer
by
halting
the
burning
for
a
bit
and
actually
yeah,
so
I
think
that
might
be
the
best
way
to
go
and
it
will
also
like
it
will
also
mimic
the
banking
system
in

sense

banks
usually
keep
10
to
15
percent
of
the
currency
that
they've
issued
like
that
that
total
currency
as
a
surplus
buffer,
so
that
they
can
prevent
this
problem
from
taking
place.

management

of
governance
tools
are
you
guys
using

quantitative
tools?

going
to
help
you
determine
what
any
of
the
stability
fees
should
be
for
the
collateral
types
and
the
maker
protocol.

approach

determine

be

set

think

should
be
betting
on

you
see
as
the

I

wanted
to
say
that.

that's
a
really
fake
question
that
you
got

let
me
break
it
down
in
part,
so
I
mean
like
we're
already
seeing
crypto
winter
beginning
with
financial
times
and
others
actually
sending
out
news
articles
about
crypto
dying,
and
I
see
where
you're
coming
from
so
us
as
a
club.

We
truly
believe
that,
like
digital
assets
are
the
future
and
blockchain
is
basically
the
technology
that
enforces
those
digital
assets
right
so
when
it
comes
to
make
it
out,
we
perceive
maker
doubt
to
be
like
somewhat
of
a
central
bank
like
figured
in
decentralized
finance,
so
how
we
perceive
it
is
basically
looking
at
it
from
and
a
currency
issuer
perspective,
but
also
looking
at
it
from
a
lender
perspective
and
yeah.
So
we
actually
see
it
as
a
bank
right
like
a
decentralized
bank
but
yeah.

So
that's
how
our
perception
is
about
the
crypto
ecosystem.
Now
we
think
that
each
of
the
things
that
are
around
till
now,
whether
it
be
a
tower
whether
it
be
an
nfp,
whether
it
be
tokens
everything
here
is
here
to
stay.
So,
for
example,
like
non-functional
tokens
actually
give
us
the
means
to
like
have
ownership
to
digital
assets
like,
for
example,
now
art
like
the
little
art
has
these
same
properties
as
real
eye
and
like
that
is
one
of
the
focus
areas
of
my
research
and
actually
trying
to
evaluate
it
a
lot.

But
now
we
can
actually
see
comparisons
between
the
little
art
and
real
art
right.
So
similarly,
what
I
think
moving
forward
each
part
of
the
ecosystem
that
is
here
right
now.
It's
here
to
stay
and
if
crypto
winter
is
coming,
but
like
honestly
like
follow
us
like
they're
long-term
investors
in
crypto,
we're
long-term
believers,
and
we
are
here
because
we
think
that
cryptocurrencies
and
rental
assets
are
going
to
be
the
future.

that's
because,
like
we
don't
believe
in
having
centralized
intermediaries
to
form
connections
between
us,
we
we
believe
in
being
able
to
form
direct
connections
ourselves
and
being
able
to
like,
for
example,
even
if
you
look
at
it
within
a
doubt,
what
happens
like
we
believe
in
actually
being
part
in
in
being
involved
in,
like
every
voting
process.
That's
happening
within
the
organization,
so
yeah,
as
mentioned
in
the
comments
like
spring,
is
always
coming
since
it's
winter,
but
yeah.

broadly,
my
colleagues

big

started

organization
at
columbia
and

numbers

things

people

and

go

revolving
meetings

events

we

on
an
annual
basis.

have
two
really
big
events
that
we

we
hold
one
is
a
speaker
conference
called
ledger
fest,
and
we
try

hold

in
the
fall
roughly
around
october
and
last

we
have
two
research
groups
monday

friday.
So
previously
the
monday
meeting
was
led
by
professor
tim
roughgarden,
but
he's
taking

leave
of
absence

research

step
in
on
on

monday
meeting
and
then
on
fridays
we
have
a
current
student
who
helped
build
the
zk
game
dark
forest
and

reading
groups

speaker

workshop
per
week
and

we're
also

student
organization,

think

to

demographics

cs
majors

do
have
our

degens

demographics

our
governance

past
columbia
blockchain,
we
currently

a
delegation
in
uniswap,
dydx
and
compound,
and
that
was
typically
run

just
two

or
three
students
and
we're
really
trying
to
grow

governance
department,

governance
is

of
a
slept
on
opportunity,
for

guess,
students
that
maybe

perhaps
lacking
in
experience

expertise
or
capital,

learn

all
experimentation
and
the
best
way

learn,

fire

going

we're

goals

a
centralized
autonomous
organization

what
we're
trying
to
do
is

to
expand
our
governance
harm
and
use
it

education
opportunity.

more

oversee
all
our
different

onboard

have

voting
on
their
