This community call demo is taken from the SharePoint Developer Monthly community on 13th of August 2019. In this video, Julie Turner (Sympraxis Consulting) is covering the architecture and functionality of the Microsoft 365 Learning Pathways, which is a free tool from Microsoft to help to drive adoption of Microsoft 365 experiences with end users.

so
I'm
gonna
do
a
Microsoft,
365
learning
pathways
architectural
overview
and
do
a
demo
as
well.
My
name
is
Julie
Turner
from
some
practice
consulting
and
so
to
start
with.
Let's,
let
me
just
define
what
what
it
is
so
Microsoft
365
learning
pathways
was
formerly
known
as
custom
learning
for
office
365
and
it's
a
customizable,
on-demand
training
solution
designed
to
help
you
increase
the
usage
and
adoption
of
the
Microsoft
365
services
in
your
tenant.
A
So
currently
Microsoft
365,
learning
pathways
is
in
preview.
It's
been
out
for
about
six
months
at
this
point,
and
so
I
wanted
to
just
give
you
an
overview
of
what
the
architecture
of
the
solution
looks
like.
So
you
start
with
discussing
what
you
have
in
your
own
tenant.
So
in
your
tenant,
you'll
have
ten
an
app
catalog
and
a
tended
app.
A
Catalog
is
a
site
collection
where
you
can
deploy
SharePoint
framework
solutions,
so
you
will
have
the
Microsoft
365
learning
pathways
solution
deployed
into
your
app
catalog
and
there
will
be
a
few
tenant
app
properties
that
are
configured
that
basically
tell
the
solution
where
your
master,
Microsoft,
365
learning
pathway
site
is
so
in
addition
to
deploying
the
solution.
You'll
have
a
site
collection,
that'll,
be
your
master
site
collection
and
there
is
also
an
app
property
that
points
to
where
the
content
is
coming
from.
A
And
then
you
can
place
that
viewer
web
part
because
it'll
be
available
in
the
App
Catalog
or
excuse
me.
The
web
part
catalog
you'll
be
able
to
put
that
viewer
web
part
in
any
other
site
collection
in
your
tenant,
and
it
will
know
what
content
it
has
available
to
it,
based
on
what
you've
set
up
and
configured
in
your
admin
site
collection.

So
the
first
is
the
custom
configu
list
which
caches
that
manifest.json
file,
that
comes
from
the
github
pages
library
and
merges
it
with
any
customizations
that
you
made
and
that
basically
provides
best
performance
that
we
can
for
the
viewer
web
part,
so
that
the
viewer
web
parts
will
oh
really
really
fast,
especially
if
you
have
more
than
one
on
a
page.
Also,
it's
the
list
where
the
sub
any
customized
subcategories
that
you
create
are
cached,
and
that
is
later
than
reemerged
with
the
manifest
file.

There's
then
a
custom
playlist
list
that
has
the
JSON
data
for
each
one
item
list:
item
for
each
custom,
playlist
that
you've
created
but
and
then
the
same
thing
with
assets.
So
if
you
create
any
pages
that
you're
gonna
use
in
your
playlist,
that
is
your
custom
content.
Each
item
in
the
custom
assets
list
will
have
a
JSON
package
that
defines
that
asset,
and
so
now,
let's
do
a
demo.

starting
with
looking
at
where
the
documentation
is.
If
you
go
to
Doc's
up
Microsoft
comm
and
you
look
up
learning
pathways,
you
can
get
right
to
the
documentation
that
we
have
on
learning
pathways,
beta
preview
out
on
the
site
and
it'll
direct
you
to
how
to
provision
and
set
up
learning
pathways
in
your
tenant.
The
first
way
is
to
provision
it
in
the
recommended
ways
to
provision
it
using
the
sharepoint
online
provisioning
service.

So
if
you
come
to
the
provisioning,
sharepoint
PNP
comm
and
you
scroll
down
to
this
solution
section
here
and
you
go
to
Microsoft
365
learning
pathways,
it
all
gives
you
a
wizard
that
walks
you
through
step
by
step,
to
provide
the
information
that
it
needs
to
add
this
solution
into
your
tenant
and
what
that
does
is
create
the
site
collection
for
you,
installs,
the
web
part
into
your
tenant.
App
catalog
creates
those
tenant
app
properties.

mentioned
when
we
were
looking
at
the
architecture
and
creates
a
some
pages
in
that
site:
collection
that
help
you
get
started,
creating
a
learning
learning
center
in
your
tenant.
The
other
method
is
to
go
to
our
github
repo
and
follow
the
instructions
for
manual
deployment
and
you'll,
find
all
the
information
about
that
here.
In
the
github
repo
and
in
the
web
part
folder
you'll
see
the
readme
that
talks
about
how
to
go
through
and
do
the
manual
deployment.

is
also
where
you
would
get
the
updated,
SP,
pkg
file
and
so
back
on
the
root
page.
Here
you
can
see
that
there
is
updating
solution,
instructions,
it
tells
you
what
the
current
release
version
is.
So
you
can
compare
that
to
what
version
is
in
your
tenant
when
you
first
deploy,
and
you
can
then
see
the
step
by
step
process
of
how
to
go
about
updating
the
solution
in
your
tenant
and
it's
super
simple.
You
just
have
to
have
the
right
permissions
to
do
it
so
that
that
is
the
one
caveat.

This
is
also
the
place
where,
if
you
have
any
questions
or
issues
using
learning
pathways,
once
you
get
it
deployed,
you
would
come
in
here.
You
need
to
have
a
github
account
and
you
would
sign
in
and
then
you
can
submit
an
issue
into
this
repository
and
I
will
try
to
get
back
respond
to
it
as
soon
as
I,
possibly
can
or
someone
else
depending
on
the
type
of
question.

If
you
have
any
issues
using
the
provisioning
service,
they
have
a
separate,
SPF,
Docs
area,
where
you
would
submit
your
issues
with
provisioning,
so
once
you've
provisioned
the
site
collection,
then
you
get
that
site
collection
in
your
tenant
and
here's
an
example
of
one
where
it
creates
this
banner
with
some
menu
nav
menu.
And
then
you
would
come
right
to
the
Microsoft
learning
administration,
and
that
takes
you
to
the
custom
learning
admin
page,
which
is
a
app
part
page.

That
has
the
learning
pathways
administration
web
part
on
it,
and
you
can
see
here
that
you
have
the
ability
to
review
all
the
categories
and
sub-categories
and
playlists
that
are
available
from
the
manifest
file
that
I
talked
about
and
show
and
hide
the
ones
that
you
want
or
don't
want
to
see.
So
you
can
simply
click
on
the
hide
button
and
that
will
hide
that
that
playlist
from
the
viewer
web
part
later,
you
can
also
hide
subcategories
and
go
through.

Do
that
as
your
heart's
content,
you
can
also
go
through
the
technology
area
and
if,
for
instance,
you're
not
using
PSTN
calling
you
can
hide
those
technologies
in
here
and
that
will
hide
all
content.
That's
been
marked
with
the
technology
PSTN
calling.
The
other
thing
that
you
can
do
in
here
is
add
your
own
custom,
SAP
subcategories.
At
this
time.

We
don't
allow
you
to
add
top-level
categories,
but
you
kind
of
add
your
own
subcategory
in
any
one
of
these
four
categories
that
exist,
so
you
create
a
new
subcategory,
you
give
it
a
name,
and
then
you
save
it,
and
that
creates
that
new
category
that
you
can
then
add
your
own
playlist
into
so
I
can
add
a
custom
playlist
into
this
category.
At
war,
I
can
go
and
add
a
custom
playlist
into
an
existing
category.
So
if
I
create
this
playlist.

You
can
add
here
or
if
you
already
have
a
page,
that's
configured
the
way
you
want
to
whether
it
be
in
this
site,
collection
or
any
other
site
collection.
You
can
just
click
the
enter
URL
and
paste
the
URL
to
that
page.
It's
got
to
be
in
this
tenant,
but
you
can
paste
it
in
there.
So
I'm
gonna
just
create
the
asset
page,
and
so
you
can
see
it
created
in
the
site
page
as
a
PMP
demo
file
based
on
the
title
here
and
then
I.
A
Can
click
open
page
will
well
open
that
page
in
a
new
window
and
we'll
go
back
to
that
later,
because
I'll
need
it
for
something
else.
But
I
can
edit
this
page
and
add
any
kind
of
content.
I
could
add
stream
videos,
I
could
add.
You
know
just
text
and
pictures
and
images
and
power,
bi
and
and
anything
else
I
might
need
to
add
to
to
create
a
good
asset
for
my
custom
playlist,
and
so
then
I'm
just
gonna
go
back
over
here
and
set
that
some
more
information
and
I'm
gonna
save
the
asset.

So,
like
I
was
saying
back
in
the
architecture
section
this.
When
you
come
to
the
admin
web
part,
the
admin
web
part
doesn't
do
any
cat,
it
doesn't
look
at
the
cache
it
basically
every
single
time
you
load
this
page.
It
goes
to
the
github,
repo
and
downloads,
all
three
manifest
files,
so
it
has
the
most
recent
version
of
it,
merges
it
with
any
customizations
that
you've
done
and
and
then
updates
the
files
in
the
list
on
this
site
collection,
the
cached
files
that
the
viewer
uses.

So
if
you
know
that
new
content
has
been
released
and
an
update
has
been
made-
and
you
don't
want
to
wait
the
24
hours
for
it
to
show
up
by
default
when
the
cache
expires,
you
can
just
come
to
the
admin
page
and
it
will
reload
it
and
thereby
fix
everything,
and
that's
also
sometimes
a
way
to
quickly
fix
if
you've
deleted
a
playlist
incorrectly
or
you
had
some
sort
of
issue.
It's
really
fast
and
easy
to
come
over
here
and
just
reload
the
the
cache
so
that
it's
corrected.

now,
if
I
go
to
the
viewer
web
part
I
just
want
to
show
you
know
what
this
looks
like
by
default.
So
we
get
all
of
this
content
here
and
since
I
haven't
refreshed
since
I
hit
some
stuff,
everything
is
going
to
be
showing
so
I'll
refresh
the
viewer
page
to
reload
the
the
cache
from
the
from
reload
the
content
from
the
cache,
and
then
we
can
navigate
around
so
I
am
starting
with
at
the
home
I.

Have
the
ability
to
search
I
have
ability
to
get
a
link
to
the
page
and
I
have
an
ability
to
see
content
on
the
playlist
but
I'm
an
admin
which
I
am
and
I
click.
This
I
just
get
the
playlist
administration
which
takes
me
back
to
the
custom
learning
admin
page,
but
if
I'm
in
a
playlist.
So
if
I
can
go
into
first
days,
I
can
see
my
custom
playlist.

That
I,
created
and
I
can
see
the
out-of-the-box
playlist
so
that
playlist
loads
and
when
I
look
at
the
burger
menu
I
can
navigate
to
any
one
of
the
assets
in
this
playlist
directly
or
I
can
navigate
back
and
forth
using
the
arrows.
I
can
also
get
a
direct
link
right
to
this
asset
in
this
playlist.
By
clicking
this
and
then
copying
this
link
and
then
I
can
send
that
link
off
to
anybody
else.
Like
hey
I
found
this
thing
that
tells
you
how
to
share
and
collaborate.
Maybe
this
will
help
you.

The
other
thing
you
can
do
from
the
web
part
is
do
a
search.
So
if
I
was
in
here
and
I
searched
for,
let's
say
Excel
similar
to
looking
for
assets,
this
searches,
all
those
same
fields
and
I-
can
see
all
my
assets
and
then
go
directly
to
any
one
of
these
assets.
So
I
can
go
right
to
adding
a
chart
title
so
that
I
can
watch
the
quick
video
on
adding
a
chart.

Title
and
I
can
also
navigate
back
up
the
breadcrumbs
like
this,
so
that
shows
us
all
of
the
features
of
the
web
part,
but
I
did
say
that
you
can
and
this
webpart
to
any
page
in
through
out
your
tenant.
So
if
I
come
back
to
that,
PMP
demo
page
I'm
going
to
use
this
as
an
example
page
and
I
and
refresh
it
so
I
can
there
we
go
and
I
can
see
the
edit
button
now.

So,
if
I
cook
this
in
edit
mode
and
click
the
Add
button,
I
can
see
that
I
have
the
Microsoft,
365
learning
pathways
web
part,
and
so
I
can
put
that
on
the
page
and
by
default
it
shows
up
exactly
the
way
it
did
on
the
custom
learning
viewer
page.
But
we
now
have
some
things
that
we
can
do
some
customizations.
We
can
do
there.
What
part
has
two
moats?

So
in
that
case,
you
might
want
to
be
in
content
only
mode
and
then
specifically
say:
hey
I
want
to
show
a
particular
subcategory,
for
instance,
and
I
want
to
show
the
first
days
category
and
then,
when
you
apply
that
you
can
see
that
it
limits
the
web
part
right
down
to
the
content
that
you
want
to
show
your
users
without
all
the
navigation.
So
when
I
save
this,
that's
how
the
web
part
will
look
right
in
the
page,
okay
and
because
I'm
an
admin
I
still
have
the
burger
menu.

is

industry
opened
online,
but
then
also
enhance
that
existing
life,
software
and
content.

can
actually
add
your
company's
specific
content
on
top
of
it,
so
the

material
which
is
coming
from
Microsoft.
