Hello, my name is michaela barrett, I'm a pm on the microsoft lists product. Over the last few months, the team has been working very hard to deliver the best inline editing experience our inline editing. Experience is now called grid view for folks who have been using this for a while. This grid view is an evolution of the quick edit mode. We have multiple new features, new editors and functionality to provide the most accessible and efficient editing view I'm going to demo.

Some of the highlight features of this grid view I'm creating an employee, onboarding checklist for my team. Whenever a new hire joins, I want my team to be able to share this list and help the new employee complete all their necessary onboarding requirements.

To do this, I used the employee, onboarding template and added one of my first items on the checklist already. This first item is to sign the offer letter. I have many additional items that I need to add to do this quickly. I'm going to edit in grid view.

Editing in grid view allows me to quickly edit line to create a second item. I can move through the fields easily. The next item on the checklist is to prep for their introduction to the team.

As I fill out this list item, you will see our new field editors for the description, I'm leveraging our new rich text editor in line. I have the description copied, so I'm going to go ahead and paste it here. With this new editor, I can highlight what's most important and I can bold go into the more options and I can highlight or add additional rich text editing that we're all familiar with. When I save this you'll see it appear exactly as it looks in the editor.

Now, when is this intro to the team required? It needs to be completed by week. Two inside of this choice field you'll see a bunch of different improvements to this choice. Editor. The first one I want to highlight is that you can actually go ahead and filter down your options, so I can find my week option right there, but, as you noticed, I wanted week two, and so when I was typing that week, I actually have the ability to add week two as an option directly within this editor in line, so we've now added it.

The employee can mark off. If this item has been completed or not with the yes no column, we have a new, yes, no editor, where it's a simple check box where you can check or uncheck whether or not it's completed for the exact date. When this item needs to be completed, we have a date field. That's using our new calendar picker.

This needs to be completed by the first week two weeks, so I can go down and select the 12th and we see the date appear.

Lastly, to add a mentor I'm going to type in mark cashman and you'll see that he renders as a people pill. This is our new people editor and our new rendering, where it shows the profile picture and the pill.

Now for this item, for the introduction to the team, there's actually two mentors and as you noticed, I could only add one. So I could go in and actually edit this column directly within my grid view. So, while I'm in line editing, I can adjust the schema as I need.

Underneath this more options, I have the ability to allow multiple selections and what we're seeing here is the very familiar person or group column type. So I can go ahead and hit save, and now I can go into the editor and add both the mentors that I need.

So I add myself and again we see that pill, rendering happening which looks beautiful now. Editing existing columns is not the only schema that you can adjust within the grid. You can go through and actually add new columns directly within this rich. This inline editing or you can go through and actually adjust any of the column settings. For example, formatting hiding this column, pinning to the filters pane or showing and hiding additional columns.

While editing mistakes can happen, I'm super excited to demo a new feature that will allow you and your team to edit with confidence inside the grid view. This feature is undo redo. When a mistake is made, you can simply undo to revert your data back to where it was before.

For example, if I accidentally go through this choice, field and click after 30 days, and then I accidentally delete it, I can click undo and it'll. Take me back to the first mistake, or I can hit undo again, to bring me back to where I was before this works across all of the field editors.

So for date, if I accidentally change this date to the 27th, and I forgot that the 25th is what it was again, I can hit undo now my personal favorite for a mistake that I make all the time is when I select all the text and accidentally hit delete, and then I forget what the text was and if I didn't have it saved someplace else, I can never find it again now you can simply hit undo and it brings that field back to where it was before.

You started editing and if you wanted to undo your undo, you can simply click the redo button. I don't want to do that, so I'm going to bring it back one of the fastest ways I edit. My data is by using only the keyboard.

We've made the keyboarding experience consistent so that it's easy to navigate and fully accessible, as you can tell my focus right now is in the grid. If I bring my focus outside when I tab through you'll notice that we've added a tab stop on the entire grid itself, this makes it easier to navigate up and down the entire page. When I hit enter, I will go into the editor and be able to start tabbing between my different cells or using my arrow keys.

One of the biggest changes we've made is that enter will consistently open up the field. Editor and escape will close it tab will navigate you through. So when I enter it opens and when I hit escape it leaves- and this works for all of the field editors- to provide that consistent experience across the product. Now this inline editing experience is something you would like to always use. In this view, I'm super excited to share that you can now save any view in inline editing. I can go up and rename my view.

I actually already have one called grid, so I'm going to go ahead and save this view as grid inline, editing or just grids. Fine, and I can hit save and now whenever this view is loaded, it will always appear in the inline editing mode and you won't have to click edit in grid view.

Since this view is what I'll be using the most, I can continue and set this, as my default view, so set view as default, and this means that whenever anyone loads this list, this will be the first view that they land on with this in-line editing experience before I knew about this awesome list template I had written down my work items and descriptions, so I can now easily copy and paste them into my list.

I have them copied, so I can go ahead and paste them here and we'll see the different work items and descriptions get loaded and I even had filled out when one of these needed to be completed by and we'll see them save now. Actually, the rest of the items I copy and pasted also need to be completed by week, one. So I can drag to fill to easily bulk edit, all of my different content, and then I can go through.

None of these are completed the date when this one needs to be completed is that first week, so that's gonna be the fifth and that date's actually the same all the way through so I'll, drag to film, and then this one is lincoln.

And then again I can keep filling this out with mark.

And then I can actually just drag to phil, as he is the owner for the last two.

Within this new view, we have a new layout as well to help you view your data in a uniform structure with all of these different descriptions. I've added you'll notice that the row height is different between each of them. So if I go into this drop down I'll see a fixed height layout, and so when I click this you'll notice that it brings the text and the row sizes to the same width and it starts wrapping the text now.

If I expand this and say I even drag this one out even more when I start scrolling horizontally, you'll notice that this first column actually sticks so that I can always have a little bit of context of where I am in this list.
