details
about
what's
included
here

we

announced

feature.

alerts,
so

combine

two
features
to
create
you
know
better
experiences
and
allow
your
users
to
send
better
emails.
So
let's
get
started
so
part
one
event
based
event
day.

those

haven't
heard
is
something
that
my
team
has
been
working
on
a
lot
in
the
last
year,
or
so
it's
basically
a
technology
that
enables
you
to
launch
an
add-in
automatically
subscribe
to
events.
You
know
so,
while
the
user
is
composing
an
email,
your
adding
can
actually
launch
in
specific
aspects
of
it
without
any
user
inputs.
So
this
is
different
from
the
model
that
we
have
today.

Well,
that
I
wouldn't
say
today,
but
we
used
to
have
you
know,
task
panes,
where
you
click
on
the
button,
and
you
know
the
tasking
pops
and
then
only
when
the
dustbin
is
active,
your
audience
can
interact
with
outlook.
In
this
case,
you
can
launch
your
ad
in
automatically
with
certain
events,
so,
basically
at
build
earlier
in
the
year,
we
announced
the
ga
of
a
few
events,
but
now
we
are
announcing
the
ga
of
more
of
them,
so
you
can.

You
can
build
more
richer
solutions
and,
by
the
way,
eric
later
in
the
call
is
going
to
show
you
a
very
real
and
very
cool
scenario
that
is
using
all
this.
These
capabilities
so
basically
event-based
audience
again
completely
new
way
to
interact
with
outlook
audience
that
they
require
no
user
inputs
to
be
activated.
They
will
basically,
your
adding,
will
activate
where
certain
events
happen.

They
are
ui
less
in
operation,
so
the
adding
is
launched
via
event
short.
There
are
short
running.
There
should
be
support
supposed
to
be
short
running
well.
This
is
an
intent
that
they
know
that
the
feature
has
we
don't
want
to
be
to
having
another
and
running
permanently
on
the
background
as
we
used
to
have
in
bsto,
because
that
does
something
really
great
the
experience
a
little
bit
in
outlook.

you
will
be
able
to
use
this
add-ins,
which,
basically,
if
you
install
the
latest
version
of
outlook
you
will,
you
should
be
able
to
do
it
in
the
monthly
channels
right.
So
the
we
added
a
recipient's
change
event
every
time
you
change
recipients
and
see
in
the
2
cc
or
bcc
when
you're
sending
an
email,
you
can
trigger
an
event
and
you
can
handle
an
event
actually,
every
time
you
attach
documents
into
emails
and
appointments,
and
you
know
you
can
also
trigger
an
event.

subscribe
to
an
appointment,
change
or
a
recurrence
change
event.
It's
useful.
You
know
to
to
to
update
your
backends
with
with
new
times
and
stuff,
and
then
we
also
have
an
info
bar
dismissed.
So
one
of
the
ways
that
you
can
interact
in
this
new
world,
with
with
with
your
users,
is
by
showing
notification
bars
in
outlook
and
those
can
be
dismissed.

the
idea
is
that
you
can
have
a
property
back,
that
you
can
have
access
for
the
lifetime
of
the
composition
so
that
you
can
store
state
across
multiple
events
right
so
and
make
your
audience
more
efficient.
So
let's
talk
about
enough
talking.
Let's
talk
about
the
demo
here,
so
one
of
our
closest
partners
are
handling
are
using
this
technology
on
the
online
signature
email
signatures.
You
know,
for
example,
when
you're
sending
an
email
to
external
or
internal
users.

so
the
idea
here
is
that
I
create
a
new
email,
I'm
going
to
switch
gears
to
outlook
and
then,
as
you
can
see,
I
created
a
new
email
and
you
I
added
a
signature
here.
So
this
is
the
uncomposed
event
that
we
shipped
long
time
ago
right.
But
now,
in
addition
to
that,
if,
if
I
add
an
email
to
someone
who
is
internal,
you
know
the
the
internal
signature
remains
here,
but
as
soon
as
I

external
address

as

recipient,

to

if

manifest,

xml
file

defines
how
your
add-in
is
going
to
behave
within
outlook.
So
basically,
you
just
need
to
add
a
runtimes
element
indicating
that
your
add-in
is
going
to
be
having
launch
event
extension
points,
which
means
your
your
adding
is
going
to
be
running
kind
of
in
the
background.

certain
events,
that's
why
you
use
the
runtimes
element
here
indicating
what
are
the
files
that
you're
adding
that
has
having
the
event
handlers
of
your
add-in
and
then
after
you
declare
that
you
know
we
have
this
new
extension
point
that
we
call
launch
event
and
within
launch
event.
We
have
basically
here's
where
you
subscribe
to
the
events
you
need.
In
this
case,
I
am
subscribing
to
all
the
events
that
are
available,
so
I'm
only
using
one
of
them
by
the

interesting

that
users
actually
really
appreciate

we
help
them.

alerts

handling
the

event

capability

block
the

of
the
email

you
can
provide
either
suggestions
or
you
can
actually
enforce
something.

you

you
will
be
able
to
say
something
along
the
lines
of
you're
not
going
to
be
able
to
send
the
email.
Unless
you
do
other
tasks
not
like
any
scenarios
like,
for
example,
classification
or
other
types
of
of
important
processes,

halt,

block
the
user
from
actually
sending
the
email

So
this
is
no

a
feature

similar

downsides

them
in
the

design
aspects

recommend

guys

that
this
should
be
fast,

operations,

halt
the
send

email

time.

if
you're
adding
it's
going
to
be
taking,
I
think
it's
more
than
five
seconds
right
now.

that

the
telemetry
we're
getting,

need
more
time
or
not,
but
if
the
admin
is
kind

slow
but
we're
gonna,
we
have
a
long
running
operation.

But
that
was
had
that
huge
downside
that
if
the
add-in,
for
whatever
reason
wasn't
available,
then
the
user
was
not
able
to
send
emails,
because
it
was
that
important
when,
by
the
time
we
shipped
this,
that
you
know
with
some
customers
like
it's:
okay,
that
the
user
cannot
send
emails
if
the
admin
is
not
available.
But
we
know
that
that's.
You
know
that's
kind
of
kind
of
very
heavy-handed.

But
now
we,
if
the
admin
is
not
available,
we
are
going
to
allow
the
user
to
send
the
email
and
but
we
will
notify
them
no
way.
This
is
experience
that
they
want
to
provide.
If
the
ad
is
unavailable,
we
will
tell
the
user
and
then
it's
up
to
the
user,
to
basically
try
it
later
or
to
send
it
anyway
send
the
email.
This
is.
This
is
a
one-time
warranty
that
we're
gonna
send
okay

that's
basically
about
one
more
thing.

we
think
that
it's
a
combination
of
both
features
that
I
mentioned
here-
event-based
add-ins
pro
smart
alerts.

one
recommendation
that
we
have
is
don't
leave

you're

be
analyzing
attachments,
because
we
have
an
attachment
change
event,
as
you
will
see
later
with
eric's
demo,

really
don't
want
you
to
be
kind
of
if
you
need
to
encrypt
them.
For
instance,
that's
an
expensive
operation.

If
you
leave
all
those
expensive
operations
until
the
end,
it's
going
to
be
a
bad
experience,
because
it's
going
to
take
time
and
then
you
know
the
sand
is
going
to
be
halted
for
for
maybe
too
many
seconds
right.
So
what
we
are
recommending
is
use
event-based,
for
example,
in
the
attachment
scenario
to
pre-do
some
as
much
pre-processing
as
you
can.
So
if
you
need
to
encrypt
the
attachments,
you
do
it
using
the
attachment
change
event
and
you
are
kind
of
in
the
background
processing
those
attachments.

So
when
the
time
the
send
comes,
you
basically
already
did
this
pre-processing
and
then
the
at
the
you're
doing
the
final
stages
at
the
time
of
sentence,
the
final
details,
sort
of
saying
before
actually
allowing
the
user
to
send
the
email
right.
So
we
recommend
you
to
use
those
two
technologies
to
provide
the
optimal
experiences
all
right,
and
with
that
I
would
like
to
switch
gears
and
switch
to
eric.

do

would
like
to
know
if
there
are
any

has
never
existed
for
a
reason
and
the

main
reason
is
because
that
is
very
expensive.

if
you
are
handling
an
event
every
time
that
every

the
user
is,

down

keep

events

could

damage
the
experience
of
outlook
in
a
big
way.

so
we

don't
usually
allow

those
events
to
happen,
but

another

entire

analyze

one
of
the

benefits

smart
alerts
is
that
we're
going
to
allow
these
add-ins

for
something
like
25
years
and
building
office,
or
out
like
adams,
for
over
20,
which
is
kind
of
crazy,
but
we're
going
to
start
it
off
today,
with
a
song
that
I
wrote
for
everybody
called
about
office
add-ins
and,
let's
make
sure
you
turn
up
your
volume.
This
is
going
to
be
a
rocking
tune,
all

now

talk
about
the
code
sample
that
I
wrote
for
the
that's
been
published
to
the
office
dev
pnp
repo,
that's
currently
live.
It
has
been
for
a
couple
of
weeks
now
and
feel
free
to
fork
it

a
look.
This
is
what
I'm
going
to
be
talking
about
today.
The
sample
basically
showcases
how
to
use
event
based
activation
in
outlook
when
the
user,
composes
an
email
or
an
appointment
or
meeting
request.

talk
a
little
bit
more
about
an
overview
of
of
events
that
juan
covered
it
fairly
well.
But
I
want
to
reiterate
some
of
the
important
things
that
we
have
to
consider
and
historically,
we've
had
you
know:
com
add-ins,
with
visual
studio
tools
for
office,
the
everything's
always
been
available
to
us
right.
Every
single
event
outlook
is
always
running
and
now
we've
for
a
few
years,
we've
had
that
on
send
event
we're,
but
the
user
you
know,
still
has
to
do
some
interaction
with
the
thing.

But
now
we
have
an
ultra
efficient
javascript
engine
that
basically
fires
as
soon
as
your
event
is
activated,
and
it
has
a
limited
lifetime
and
a
built-in
expiration
mechanism,
so
to
speak.
So
it's
kind
of
like
quantum
fluctuations,
they
kind
of
constantly
pop
up
and
wink
out
of
existence
at
the
whim
of
the
developer.
Whenever
you
need
it
now,
you're
probably
wondering
if
these
events
just
fire
for
a
limited
duration.

How
do
you
manage
state
and
juan
talked
about
how
there's
that
new
session
data
property
bank
that
we
can
leverage
that
lives
at
the
session
level?
So
for
as
long
as
that
item
that
you're
composing
is
living,
it's
in
memory
and
very
efficient
and
your
data
can
be
accessible
for
that
particular
event.
So,
and
it
also
doesn't
have
some
of
the
size
restrictions
that
you
may
come
across
when
you're
using
roaming
settings.

Your
code
is
not
going
to
finish
before
that
quota
is
exceeded
so
and
then
your
your
your
ad
in
the
shutdown,
but
now
we
have
the
on
message:
attachments
change
and
on
appointment,
attachments,
changed
events
that
will
quantum
entangle
itself
right
when
you
need
it
right
for
as
long
as
you
need
it
up
to
about
500
seconds,
I
believe
is
the
amount,
that's
well
sorry,
five
minutes,
and
but
you
don't
want
your
code
to
be
running
that
long.
So
now
we
have,
you
know
some
good
scenarios
for
handling
these
particular
problems.

if
you
want
to
take
advantage
of
these,
there's
been
some
updates,
since
I
wrote
this
deck
on
the
availability
of
it's
now
in
the
1.11
requirement
set
and
it's
released
general
availability
at
the
time.
I
wrote
this
that
you
had
to
be
in
the
targeted
release
channel,
but
I
believe
from
what
I've
learned
it
is
now
in
monthly
release
and
in
the
future,
it'll
be
in
semi-annual
release.

So
if
you
want
to
take
advantage
of
these
and
you're,
not
in
that
particular
release
channel,
you
may
have
to
adjust
your
beta
library
references
as
necessary
and
you
could
always
install
the
types,
the
type
definition
files
for
for,
for
typescript
and
and
and
whatnot
and
in
your
developer
environment
now
for
outlook
for
windows.
You're
gonna
have
to
also
configure
the
registry,
if
you're
not
in
an
appropriate
channel,
so
there's
a
minimum
required
bill,
but
certainly
go
back
to
the
configure.

And
I'm
going
to
fire
up
a
new
email
and
I'm
simply
going
to
add
an
attachment
that
I've
added
before
and
what
this
code
is
doing.
Is
it's
taking
that
first
attachment
and
it's
encrypting
it
right
away,
but
it's
also
adding
it
as
an
additional
copy
so
that
the
developer
can
see
that
something
where
the
user
can
see
that
something
is
happening.
And
then
it's
taken
that
encrypted
copy
and
then
decrypting
it
again
and
adding
it
as
a
third
attachment,
and
you
notice
that
the
information
bar
updated
itself
as
the
flow
completed.
There's.

can
also
hook
into
the
recipient
on
appointment,
attendees
changed
event
and
I'm
going
to
go
ahead
and
pick
adele
vance
here
nancy
devoe
was
not
available.
I
think
she
left
and
started
a
startup
so
as
you'll
see,
another
information
bar
is
it
popped
up
gives
it
gives
you
a
tally
of
the
num
of
the
users
that
have
been
added
as
required
or
optional
recipients.

it's
even
picking
up,
if
I
add
distribution
lists
so
as
a
little
warning
of
user,
hey
you're,
adding
a
distribution
list,
please
make
sure
that
you're
adding
the
correct
one,
and
you
can
add
more
if
you
like,
engineering
and
it'll
increment
that
count
and
as
you
remove
recipients,
the
counts
can
decrease
as
well.
Until
you
have
nothing
and
all
the
information
bars
will
get
removed
for
that
one
for
some
reason.

processes

type

attachment

sure

it's
a
