we

unifying
our
code
base
to
simplify
things
for
customers
and
ourselves

increase
engineering
velocity.
It

essentially
going
to
be
over
code
in
a
native
stream.

will
not
be
supported,
so
we
are
actively
working
to
bring
web
add-ins
capabilities
at
par
with
com.
Add-Ins
and
we've
been
doing
that
for
a
while
now,
so
that
partners
can
support
different
scenarios
with
the
web
add-ins
advantages
and
till
the
time
we
are
able
to
bridge
the
platform
gaps.
You'll
have
the
ability
to
use
the
old
client
where
you
have
com
add-ins.

the
time,
between
july
and
october,
to
do
full
and
thorough
testing
for
all
the
partners
where
they
can
test
out
their
scenarios
with

existing
add-ins.

ideal
scenario,
they
should
work
as
expected,

before
one
outlook
goes
live
fully
in
october,
2022,
where
web
add-ins
are
fully
functional.

be

actually

working

the
harmony
team

improve

platforms

that
they
have
similar
capabilities

Smart
alerts
feature
just
a
little
bit
about
smart
alerts
to
start
off,
so
it
is
an
event-based
activation
feature
that
allows
your
add-in
to
run
some
logic
after
a
user
selects
send
from
an
outlook
message
or
an
appointment.
So
this
feature
is
activated
by
the
on
message:
send
and
the
on
appointments
and
events.

start
off
again
with
a
little
bit
about
the
sample.
So,
like
I
mentioned
this
demo
we'll
be
covering
is
one
where
the
add-in
checks,
whether
required
color
categories
are
applied
to
a
new
message
or
appointment,
that's
being
sent,
and
what
dictates
these
required.
Color
categories
are
some
specific
keywords
that
the
add-in
looks
for
in
the
message
or
appointment,
subject
or
body.

messages
do
use
the
soft
block,
send
mode
option
and
the
block
option
is
what
drives
the
appointments
so
I'll
go
into
a
little
bit
more
detail
about
these
send
mode
options
in
the
next
slide.
But
before
I
go
to
the
next
slide,
I
do
want
to
leave
you
this
link
to
the
sample
that
we
will
be
demoing.
We
would
love
for
everyone
to
take
a
look
test,
the
sample
around
and
just
to
get
a
little
bit
or
just
get
to
know
the
the
feature
a
little
bit
more.

a
few
key
parts
of
the
manifest
that's
specific
to
event
based
activation
add-ins
and
smart
alerts
in
general,
so
these
add-ins
do
use
the
launch
events
element
in
the
manifest
and
within
the
launch
events
element.
You
do
have
the
launch
event
element
that
you
can
declare
within
this
element.
There
are
three
attributes
that
you'd
like
to
specify
the
first
one
being
type,
and
this
is
where
you
declare
the
event
that
activates
your
add-in.
So
in
the
case
of
smart
alerts,
it
would
be
on
message
send
and
on
appointments
and
events.

Then
you
have
the
function
name
attribute,
which
is
where
you
would
declare
your
event
handler.
So
those
would
be
your
javascript
functions
that
would
be
running
the
logic
of
your
add-in
and,
lastly,
you
have
the
send
mode
attribute,
and
this
is
what
determines
the
add-ins
behavior
when
its
logic
or
condition
isn't
being
met
by
the
item
that's
being
sent.
So
the
send
mode
option
comes
in
three
flavors:
you
have
prompt
user,
soft
block
and
block
with
prompt
user.

And,
lastly,
we
have
the
block
send
mode
option,
and
this
is
also
known
as
the
hard
block
option
just
to
differentiate
it
from
the
soft
block
option,
and
this
is
used
when
you
want
an
add-in
condition
to
be
met
and
it
is
meant-
and
it
is
mandatory
to
be
met
before
an
item
can
be
sent
and
before
we
go
to
the
demo.
I
also
wanted
to
highlight
a
few
things
within
the
javascript
file.

Specifically,
with
the
event
handler
functions,
so
first
within
the
your
javascript
file,
you
will
want
to
call
the
office.actions.associate
method
in
order
to
register
the
event
handlers.
So
what
this
does
is
it
maps?
The
function
name
attribute
that
you
specified
in
the
manifest
with
the
javascript
function.
Name
that'll
handle
the
logic
of
your
add-in
and,
within
the
event
handler,
you
will
also
need
to
call
the
event
completed
method
so
as
to
indicate
handler
code
completion,
and
this
is
what
determines
whether
the
item
can
be
sent.

If
the
item
that's
being
sent,
meets
the
add-in
conditions,
so,
in
the
event
that
the
item
being
sent
doesn't
meet
the
add-in
condition.
This
event
completed
method
also
allows
you
to
surface
that
smart
alerts,
dialog
where
you
can
add
a
message
or
an
error
for
the
user,
so
that
they
know
what
next
steps
to
take
in
order
to
meet
that
add-in
condition.

So
we
will
start
with
by
creating
a
meeting,
invite
and,
of
course,
we'll
put
in
some
specific
keywords
in
there,
so
that
the
add-in
can
be
triggered
and
it'll
check
to
see
whether
we
have
applied
specific
color
categories
related
to
these
keywords.
So
for
this
demo
the
keywords
in
question
are
sales
expense
reports
and
performance
reviews.

once
we
click
send
because
we
haven't
added
any
categories:
you'll
see
the
smart
alerts,
dialog,
just
letting
us
know
that
hey.
You
should
add
this
to
your
appointment
and
you'll
notice
that
the
only
option
available
to
the
user
is
the
don't
send
option,
because
we
did
employ
that
block
or
hard
block
option
for
the
appointment.

to
add
those
categories,
and
so
you'll
see
that
those
categories
have
now
been
added
to
the
invite,
and
so
once
we
click
send
that
invite
goes
through
and
the
appointment
appears
on
the
calendar.

blazer
add-in
is

development

dot-net
and
do

just

office
development
part
is
interrupt
using
the
office
javascript
interop
to
interact
with
with
the
office
host
in
this
case
word
and
excel.

the

task
pane
is
still
development
developed
in
blazer,
so
it's

c-sharp

blazer
markup,
and
in
this
case
you
see
a
table
created
and
a
bubble
chart.

depends

the
extensions

you
have
installed
in
your
studio.
How
long
it
will
take
to
load

that's
free

projects

That's
basically
the
the
task
pane
that's
hosted
in
in
excel,
and
we
have
a
manifest
project
to
be
able
to
run
the
project
from
f5

start
it
automatically.

task,
pane,
for
instance,
or
you
go
back
to
your
database
engine,
to
collect
your
data
and
do
so.
You
do
the
things
with
the
data
there
by
doing
so,
you're
able
to
do
that
in
c,
sharp
and
not
so
much
in
in
javascript
anymore.

your
main
development
efforts
can
be
done
in
c-sharp
and
that
that's
basically
the
the
main
benefit
of
this
as
a
net
developer,
I'm
basically
a
net
developer.
You
recognize
much
more
of
the
things
that
that
you
see
in

the
blazer
environment
that
you
recognize
from
asp.net
coding
that
you've
been
doing
already
over
years
and
yeah.

that's
basically
the
benefit
of
this.

there
a
way
to
create
spell
checking
add-ins
we're
currently
trying
to
create
some
spell
checkers
for
small
languages,
not
supported
officially
by
microsoft?
It's
a
way
to
include
them
via
office.js
on
all
platforms
and
applications,
so
yeah,
this
kind
of
depends
on
what
you're
trying
to
do.

For
example,
you
can't
like
integrate
with
a
built-in
spell
checker.
So,
like
you
can't
be
like
adding
the
red
wavy
lines
like
as
someone's
typing,
but
you
can
read
content
from
a
document
spell
check
it
and
then
write
it
back
in
with
corrections
like
you.
Can
do
that
in
excel
and
word
powerpoint,
you
can
create
one
add-in.
There
is
a
way
to
create
a
manifest
that
supports
loading.
Your
add-in
into
all
three
and
I
put
a
link
here
to
an
article
that
talks
about
how
you
can
configure
your
manifest
specify
office
applications
api
requirements.

can
also
take
a
look
at
the
script
lab
manifest,
which
supports
multiple
hosts.
You
do
have
to
create
a
separate
one
for
outlook,
though
you
can't
create
one
that
does
like
all
four
hosts,
so
you
have
to
at
least
create
two,
but
you
know
it's
that's
a
pretty
big
question.
So,

designed
to

interact
with
ranges

token
because
these
types

applications

basically
finding
or
analyzing
text
with
a
smart
engine
and
then
returning
exactly
what
positions
within
a
document
are
need
to
be
replaced
with
potential
better
options.
So
I
think
in
word
we
have
most
of
the
capabilities
that
you
need
for
this.

know

search
and
replace
content
with
formats
and
stuff,
but
the
part
that
we
don't
have
is
the
kind
of
continuous
kind
of
sniffing
of
text
knowledge
the
kind
of
the
key
press
event.
So
you
can
actually
constantly
be
in
the
background,
checking
this
right.
So
usually
it's
trigger
distributing
a
one
shot,
and
then
you
analyze
return
a
list
of
improvements
and
replay,
potentially
replace
them
check
out
the
grammarly
add-in.

Actually
grammarly
is,
I
would
say,
the
biggest
spell
checker
having
ever
created
and
they
have
a
web.
Add-In
version
only
works
in
word
for
the
web,
so
check
that
out.
I
think
they
did
a
great
job
of
of
doing
a
spell
checker
with
the
capabilities
we
have
today,
and
you
should
be
able
to
do
something
very
similar.

these
are
not
on
our
roadmap,
but
we'd
love

them.
