building
multilingual
power
apps
here
and
I'm
looking
forward

because
this
was
something
I
needed
to
do
several
years
ago,
and
I
took
one
pattern
to
do
it,
but
haniel
is
going
to
show
us
a
different
pattern
to
do
this
as
well.

looks
a
lot
cooler

mine
did
anyway,
then
we're
going
to
jump
into
using
environment
variables.
This
is
a
brand
new
piece
of
the
powerapps
platform
and
it
works
with
flow
as
well
and
so
chuck
and
reza
are
going
to
show
us
how
we
can
use
those
environment
variables
inside
of
powerapps
and
inside
of
flows,
because,
as
you
all
know,
when
we
build
powerapps
half
the
time,
we're
building
a
flow
to
go
along
with
it.

since
its
inception,

doing
it

little
bit
about
multilingual.

So
what's
what's
the
general
premise
of
my
solution
and
there's
a
few
things,
one
of
them
is
simple
management,
so
terminology
may
change
over
time
right
so,
for
example,
a
company
may
rebrand
itself
or
certain
aspects
of
of
what
you
have
inside
of
your
power-up.
You
want
to
you
want
to
rename
it
so
rather
than
having
to
open
up
all
of
your
power
apps
and
change
it,
it
would
be
nice
to
be
able
to
do
it
centrally
reducing
development
right.

If
you
work
for
a
multilingual
company,
do
you
want
to
rebuild
the
same
app
again
and
again
just
in
order
to
change
the
branding?
The
answer
is
no
promote
expandability.
So
again,
as
you
start,
adding
more
languages
and
I'll
show
this
to
you
today.
Ideally,
all
you
want
to
have
to
do
is
just
add
the
language
and
that's
it
nothing
more
required
abstracting
code
from
content.
This
is
really
really
important,
so
we've
got
our
techies
on
the
call
you
guys
are
building
the
solution.

be
bogged
down
with

you
update

You
know
what
let
you
forget
a
character
and
I
wanted
to
make
a
change.
The
answer
is
no.
Ideally,
technology
will
build
a
solution
and
somebody
like
communications
or
marketing
will
actually
own
the
content.
They
will
own
the
text
and
you
want
to
give
them
the
ability
to
manage
it
and
also
creating
consistency.

Sorry
for
those
who
are
dynamics,
people
or
or
database
people,
but
the
reality
is
that
a
lot
of
business
people
are
very
familiar
with
sharepoint
today,
so
I
figured
let's
use
the
the
sharepoint
lists
as
the
backend
for
for
these
languages.
So
the
way
it
works
is
there's
two
types
of
lists:
there's
what
I
call
string,
labels
and
they're,
just
single
entities
or
single
single
labels
and
then
there's
a
list
items.
So
imagine
you
have
a
really
a
radio
button.
A
drop
down
is
something
that
has
multiple
values
in
it.

And
so
what
happens?
Is
you
build
an
app
you
connect
that
to
the
lists
and
then
that
will
pull
the
data
for
you?
If
you
build
another
app,
it's
going
to
go
to
the
same
list
and
that's
how
you
start
creating
the
consistency
and
so
on
and
so
forth,
you're
building
more
apps
and
they
all
will
connect
to
the
same
one.

All

so
one
of
my
lists
is
called
my
actually,
I'm
gonna
go
with
my
strings
labels
first,
and
the
only
thing
I
need
to
identify
in
my
list
is
what
is
my
app
name
and
that
allows
me
to
do
filtering,
so
I
don't
have
to
load
all
of
my
labels
into
into
the
app
only
the
ones
I
need.
What
is
the
name
of
the
label,
so
that's
an
internal
name,
I'm
giving
my
label
and
that's
how
I'm
able
to
resolve
it
or
give
it
some
sort
of
a
default
value.

is
the
value
that
I
want
to
display
and
then
what
is
the
language
and
that's
really
important?
What
you'll
see
here
is
that
I'm
only
capturing
two
letters.
Typically,
when
you
look
up
a
language,
it
has
two
letters
for
the
language,
a
hyphen
and
then
two
letters
for
the
locale
so,
for
example,
I'm
in
canada.
So
it's
en
hyphen
ca
in
the
us.
It's
en
hyphen
us,
frankly
to
me,
english
is
english.
I
really
don't
care
about
the
locale,
so
that's
why
I'm
only
looking
at
the
language
itself.

second
list
is
the
choice
fields
very
similar.
I
have
the
app
name.
I
have
the
control
that
I
want
to
use.
Then
I
have
the
individual
labels,
the
language
that
I'm
using
and
I'm
also
adding
a
column
for
ordering,
so
it
doesn't
have
to
go
alphabetic
or
whichever
way
I
enter
them
to
the
list,
I
can
actually
define
the
order
that
I
want.

connector

app
once
you
use
that
connector
inside
of
your
power,
app,
there's
an
option
for
preferred
language,
and
all
I'm
doing
in
my
code
literally,
is
I'm
saying,
get

preferred
language.
Take
the
first
two
left
letters
which
represent
the
language
get
rid
of
the
rest.

don't
care
about
the
locale.

is
the

on

app

scenarios

users

prefer
to
have

language

the
office
365
settings,
whereas
they

browser

wanted
to
understand
how
will
this
design
work
if
we
go
and
change
the
browser
language
to
let's
say,
spanish
or
or
any
other
language.

if
you
wanted

start
using
the
browser
now,

make
certain
api
calls
to

actually
get
the
browser
language
which
you
may
have
to
start
using.

a

some
sort

premium
connection

all
running
the
the
basic
sharepoint
connectors,
so
there's
nothing,
nothing
special
about
it
and
you're
using
the
office
365
connection
to
get
the
language.

marketing

in
and
I

we

purchased

company

add
support
for
them
into
the

to
do
is
go
get
the
labels
and
tell
you
know,
tell
whoever
is
using
the
app.
You
can
now
start
loading
it
in
german
and
then
the
information
is
going
to
appear
for
you.

that

language
changes

behavior

for

team

what
you're
seeing

is
an
example
of
where
this
application
starts.

installed

to

is

custom
for

apps
canvas,
apps

to

the

scenarios

require

lot

code
and

the

functionality

built

before

showcase
how
we
can
leverage
environment
variables
in
the
context
of
flows.
However,
I
will
also
show
you
how
we
can
leverage
those
environment
variables
in
apps.
I
know
chuck
showed
that,
but
I
plan
to
cover
the
new
data
source
environment
variables,
option
so
to
start
using
environment
variables,
and
there
were
a
lot
of
questions
in
chat.
Do
I
need
solutions?
The
answer
is
yes,
you
do
need
solutions.

Solutions
is
a
premium
feature.
The
answer
is,
no
solutions
are
not
premium
as
long
as
you
have
a
database
created
in
your
environment,
which
requires
capacity.
If
you
have
that
in
that
case,
all
you
need
to
use
solutions
is
access
to
that
environment.
If
you
have
the
access,
you
can
start
building
solutions.
You
do
not
need
premium
licensing,
it's
a
misconception.

so
right
here
in
my
default
environment,
I
have
gone
ahead
and
in
the
interest
of
time
already
pre-created
a
solution
called
help
desk
and
the
way
you
create
a
solution
is
just
go
to
new
solution.
Give
it
a
name,
select
a
publisher,
a
version
number
and
just
create
it,
and
that's
exactly
what
I
did.
It's
just
a
shell
for
adding
components
for
folks
who
are
new
to
solutions.

Now
anyone
here
who's
worked
with
sharepoint
needs
to
understand
that
sharepoint
is
not
environment.
Specific
sharepoint
is
tenant
specific.
So
when
I
build
a
sharepoint
site
that
site
is
going
to
go
in
my
tenant,
it
does
not
sit
in
an
environment
so
many
times
we
come
across
scenarios
and
specifically
application
life
cycle
management.
You
want
to
build
something
for
test
or
in
dev,
move
it
to
test
and
then
move
it
to
production.

Now
we
have
environments
in
the
power
platform
which
which
gives
us
those
capabilities.
However,
the
issue
with
sharepoint
as
a
data
sources
sharepoint
is
not
environment
specific.
So
what
we
end
up
doing
typically,
is
we
create
these
multiple
sharepoint
sites?
Like
I
have
done
right
here,
I
have
a
sharepoint
site
and
check
the
url
service
desk
test
and,
as
part
of
this
site,
I
have
a
list
called
tickets,
in
which
I
have
some
columns
that
I
have
just
added.

I
also
have
another
sharepoint
site
called
desk.
This
is
acting
like
my
production,
sharepoint
site
that
I
have
created
now
when
I
create
apps
and
when
I
create
flows
and
when
I
point
to
those
sharepoint
sites
when
I
move
across
environments,
what
I
have
to
do
is
when
I
move
from
dev
to
test
or
prod.
I
have
to
go
back
and
create
all
the
connections.

I
have
to
move
the
pointer
of
my
sharepoint
site
from
my
test
site
to
my
production
site
and
that's
a
lot
of
work
that
you
got
to
do
after
you
have
deployed
your
solution.
So

the

variables
related
to
data
sources,
and
this
only
works
with
sharepoint
today.

going

and
read
it
in
your
apps

the

connection

to
new

and
this

list
out
all
my
sharepoint
sites
and
I'll
quickly
pick
my
test
site

and
just
like
that.
It
just
creates
an
environment
variable
that
is
associated
with
my
test
sharepoint
site
and
this
environment
variable
is
being
packaged
as
part
of
this
solution.
So
you
see
solutions,
help
desk,
here's
my
variable
now.

we
can
use
these
in
apps
and
flows,
chuck
showed
you
how
you
can
read
them
in
apps
and
it
was
quite
complex.
You
saw
that
right.
He
wrote
that
formula
for
filter
and
look
at
those
tables
and
grab
that
information.
There's
a
lot
of
work
to
do
in
flows.
The
power
automated
team
has
made
it
extremely
simple,
so
I'll
go
to
new

create
a
flow,

the
key

and

will

If

package

solution-

move
it
from
one
environment
to
another,

can
then
repoint
these
environment
variables
to
my
production,
sharepoint
site
and
all
my
apps.
All
my
flows
that
are
pointing
to
those
environment
variables
will
automatically
transform
themselves
to
that
new
data
source.
That's
the
power
of
these
variables,
the
environment
variables
that
I
leveraged
in
my
flow.

was
squaring
the
data.

data
was
tables
in
power
apps.
That
requires
premium
licensing.
That
means
through
flows.
I
can
get
it
for
free,
but
through
apps
I
have
to
pay

premium
cost

How
do
I
avoid
that?
Well,
I
have
a
trick.
You
can
trigger
a
flow
from
powerapps,
so
why
not
call
flow
from
powerapps
grab
all
the
environment
variable
values
and
send
it
back
to
powerapps,
so
you
don't
have
to
pay
the
licensing
cost
anyways
so
in
in
powerapps.

when

exporting
solutions
with
environment
variables,
specifically

data
source

it
from
the
