From YouTube: Introducing new SharePoint news for email feature
Description
📺 SharePoint news for email is a new feature rolling out to Microsoft 365 customers during autumn 2023. It enables news authors to easily send their SharePoint created news articles as an email messages to their audience.
In this video, we talk about this exciting new feature in SharePoint and do a live demo of the experience. We also talk about considerations and reasoning behind the feature with the Sara Cummings, who is the product manager owning this capability.
Video also has a nice surprise cameo from one of the Sara's birds - in the end of the feature demos. Vesa is "frozen" for few seconds in the intro section, but don't worry - his waving hands are back quickly.

that's

about
we'll

been

been
using
that
internally
for
quite
a
lot.
The
birds
are
flying
over
excellent,
but
we've
been
internally
using
that
now.
Let's
talk
about
the
company
culture
a
bit
later
on
the
video
because
it
within
some
companies
they
try
to
prefer
not
to
use
emails
and
all
of
that
stuff
we'll
come
back
that
on
a
bit
later.

guess
it
is
pretty
descriptive,
but
so
when
you're
creating
news
posts,
you're
creating
pages
that
you
want
to
distribute
right,
you
want
to
share
your
news.
You
want
to
share
it
with
people
and
at
least
when
it
comes
to
the
Microsoft
company
culture.

lot
of
that
sharing
happens
in
email.
So
what
we
would
see
happen
is
someone
would
make
just
beautiful
news
posts
it's
perfect
and
then
they
go
to
send
it
out
and
it
sends
just
a
link
and
that's
sort
of
come
on.

That's
we
can
do
better,
and
so
with
this
feature,
what
we've
done,
if
you've
taken
your
pages
and
we
converted
them
to
a
format
that
will
make
them
readable
all
in
one
place,
and
you
can
go
back
to
the
page
if
you
want,
you
cannot,
if
you
want,
and
your
readers
can
see
it
all
in
your
inbox.
So
internally
it's
just
been
a
huge
success.
We
have
a
lot
of
big
fans,
which
means
we've
got
a
ton
of
testing
which
has.

It's
it's
yeah,
it's
still
in
SharePoint,
and
you
can
think
about
it.
As
you
know,
when
you
take
a
photocopy
of
like
a
page
in
a
book
you're
giving
people
access
to
that
page,
but
not
the
rest
of
the
book,
and
so
with
news
where
it's
something
that's
meant
to
be
distributed
anyway.
This
can
make
a
lot
of
sense.
It
could
just
speed
up
the
process
if
you're
offline-
and
you
already
have
this
email
downloaded.

can

we
are

a
list
that
we're
constantly
expanding.
The
good
news
is
when

the
magic

because
these
distributions
are
meant
to
be
sent
out.
We've
rolled
it
up
into
one
place

and
so
this
means

news

going
to
show
up
anywhere
news
shows
up
and
now
you
can
see.
I
have

we've
taken
all

we've
made
them

if

lot

cool

stylings
and
spacings
and
all
in
all,
we've
just
created
a
page
that
can
guarantee
is
going
to
look
good
in
email
as
well.

our

we

I
can
now
see
the
view
information.
So
this
is
exactly
what
you
get
for
a
normal
SharePoint
page,
with
the
exception
of
your
mail
reads,
are
now
rolled
up
in
page
views,
viewers
and
traffic.
We
haven't
got
dwell
time
online,
yet
it's
a
little
more
complicated,
but
we
can't
offer
this
other
data.

it
was
a
question
of
how
do
we
support
the
majority
of
pages
without
limiting
the
capabilities,
which
is
why
we
decided
to
start
with
news
on
this,
because
we
know
with
news
phases:
Pages,
they
tend
to
be
simpler.
People
are
making
them
to
be
distributed,
they're,
not
like
the
core
of
your
internet
site,
and
this
was
an
area
where
we
can
really
help.
Authors
spread
their
impact
further
without
confining
their
functionality
really
in
any
meaningful
way.

like
we're
playing
a
funny
games
dear,
where,
with
our
web
charts
we're
allowing
like
full
intranet
site
capability
for
you
to
add
to
any
page,
but
in
the
scenarios
like
a
News,
Post
you're,
not
going
to
use
that
and
so
we've.
This
is
an
experiment.
This
is
the
first
way
that
we're
trying
this
to
see
if
people
like
it
and
by
sort
of
scoping
down
capabilities
a
little
more,
if
we
can
actually
offer
more
functionality.

is
the
magic
related

creating
something
right,
an
alternative

this
point
not
yet,
but
it
is
functionality
that
we're
looking
to
add
soon
so
that
if
you
already
have
an
existing
template
that
you've
been
using
for
years
that
meets
our
criteria,
you
don't
have
to
remake
it,
but
at
least
in
the
first
launch
here.

would
would
want
to
go
is
you
would
want
to
start
with
an
email,
ready
template
that
has
these
functionalities
baked
in
and
then
you're
going
to
want
to
save
that
as
a
template.

devices
people
are
reading
them
on
and
have
greater
control
over
your
distributions,
you're
going

want
to
look
into
Viva
amplify,
so
they
are
actually
using
the
same
templates
and
a
similar
Tech
to
us
to
distribute
the
the
one
caveat.
Is
you
can
take
it
depending
on
what
endpoint
you're
going
to
and
make
little
edits
so
you're
going
to
start
off
on
something
that
looks
like
a
SharePoint
page
and
then
you
can
send
it
to
Outlook
and
you
can
send
it
to
teams
and
it's
going
to
look
good
everywhere.

that
capability
here
for
you
to
send
your
News
Post
to
email
and
it
still
shows
up
on
your
site.
But

you're
looking
to
really
cater
your
distributions
and
really
look
at
your
reach,
I
would
suggest
looking
into

always
see
the
things
that

some

gotta
release

we

it's
actually
kind

even
awkward
that
the
Microsoft
culture
is
quite
often
email
based.
That's
also
because
a
lot
of
people
are
moving
and
working
in
multiple
locations
and
have
multiple
devices,
but
the
email
is
just
one
option
to
access
the
information,
so
the
information
is
still
in
SharePoint
is
just
being
exposed
in
email
and
you
can
click
and
access
the
SharePoint
site,
and
all
of
that.
So
this
is
not
for
driving
the
email
consumption.

that's
previous
conferences
and
stuff.
When
you
talk
to
customers
they're
like
are
you
trying
to
get
people
away
from
email?
Why
would
you
send
this
to
them
in
the
email
and
we're
like
yes,
but
we
have
to
be
realistic
about
meeting
people
where
they
are
at
with
the
information
that's
useful
to
them,
and
you
know
if
you
go
into
your
email
today,
at
least
if
I
go
into
mine,
it's
tons
of
newsletters
and
distributions
and
stuff
to
read
and
I'll
be
honest
with
you,
I
I'm,
not
the
biggest
fan
of
email
I.

know
if
someone
wants
to
get
something
for
me,
send
send
me
a
message
in
teams
but
like
there's,
a
cultural
shift,
that's
happening
there,
so
we
want
to
meet
people
where
they're
at
and
bring
them
to
our
sites.
Rather
than
just
being
like
no
we're
not
going
to
support
you
there
and
yeah,
it's
just
not
practical.

Cloud
and
then
transition
forward
that
yeah
the
forceful
way
of
forcing
people
to
do
something
is
always
not
a
good
idea,
because
it
does
the
counter
reaction
on
it.
So
doing
this
way,
it
makes
perfect
sense,
