A
We
record
the
minutes
for
legal
purposes,
and
this
is
the
only
way
to
pick
up
audio
I'd
like
to
say
good
afternoon
to
our
other
commissioners,
and
I
don't
see
well,
we
have
someone
in
the
audience
and
thank
you
very
much
for
coming
out
this
afternoon
like
to
welcome
you
all.
The
historic
preservation
commission
is
a
nine-member
board
appointed
by
the
city
council
and
serves
on
a
voluntary
basis
without
compensation.
A
Brian
brian
mann,
yes-
and
we
also
have
with
us
this
afternoon-
two
members
from
our
staff
would
just
like
to
ask
them
to
introduce
themselves
also,
and
I
will
start
with
my
right
again-
an
audience
left.
A
A
I
want
to
start
from
the
very
top
with
our
committees
and
we
want
to
start
with
our
sign
committee
and
let's
get
a
report
on
that
from
our
sign
committee.
C
Our
deadline
was
march,
the
first
and
we
have
five
applications
that
were,
with
the
help
of
the
staff
very
well
done,
and
so
we,
you
will
see
enclosed
recommendations
for
five
signs
there.
You
actually
have
an
image
there.
C
The
historic
neighborhoods
are
well
represented
and
we
looked
at
some
people
wanted
a
family
historic
name
put
on
there,
others
it
was
more
appropriate
just
to
have
the
historic
district
they
were
located
in
and
I
believe
the
staff
probably
produced
the
dates
of
construction
for
the
most
part
to
go
on
the
signs
as
well.
So
that's
all
I
have
except
two.
C
Okay,
okay,
did
I
nominate
do
we
need
to
do
that.
E
Just
yeah,
you
can
ask
them
to
approve
this.
The
slate
okay.
C
Right
I
nominate
that
we
approve
for
the
new
signs,
these
five
properties
that
you
find
enclosed
in
your
handout,
addresses
names
and
date
of
construction
on
there.
D
B
C
D
E
B
E
A
A
second
okay,
I'll,
second,
that
all
right
any
on
readiness,
I'm
sorry
go
ready.
It's.
C
A
Yeah
right,
I.
A
E
We
move
on,
we
had
discussed
once
we
when
we
relaunched
this
program,
making
it
committee
work
so
that
we
didn't
spend
a
whole
lot
of
time
here.
E
E
So
I
am
proposing
you
all
have
a
handout
for
a
meeting
schedule
with
the
changes
that
city
council
made
to
the
city
code.
We
can
now
meet
on
a
quarterly
basis
and
we're
going
to
have
to
reintegrate
discussion
about
signs
into
a
regular
meeting.
E
That's
my
recommendation
because
I
I'm
we're
not
getting
good
submissions
from
the
applicants,
I'm
preparing
I'm
doing
the
historical
research
for
what
is
getting
done,
but
the
committee's
not
meeting-
and
I
can't
I
mean
this-
this
is
y'all's
program,
so
either
you
want
it
or
you
don't
and
I
don't
care
either
way
other
than
you
know.
If
I
don't
need
to
do
the
work,
that's
one
less
thing.
I
have
to
do.
A
E
Does
that
mean
like
we
normally
would
have,
although
back
in
the
the
olden
days,
the
applicant
would
show
up
at
the
meeting
every
month
and
we're
trying
to
consolidate
how
we're
ordering
and
purchasing
things
that
you,
you
would
get
the
application
information
in
your
packet
and
you
would
all
discuss
and
decide
at
a
meeting
and
then
we
would
hand
those
out
at
the
next
meeting.
F
Well,
as
one
of
the
members
who
concurred-
I
maybe
I
didn't
understand
the
process
I
if
they
had,
you
had
wanted
us
to
get
together.
That
was
what
we
were
supposed
to
do.
Then.
I
must
take
some
life
for
that,
because
I
didn't.
I
didn't
understand
that
when
it
was
sent
to
me,
I
was
asked.
I
thought
that
I
was
going
to
concur
or
not
concur
and
that's
what
I
did
if
it
was
more
to
the
process,
then
I'm
certainly
open
to
doing
that.
Yeah.
C
F
C
And
I
think
that
was
the
way
to
do
it
was
to
handle
it
like
with
to
put
the
two
dates
on
it,
but
maybe
when
we
get
a
lot
more
too,
hopefully,
when
we
get
more
than
five
who
are
wanting
a
new
historic
sign,
but
we
can
just
be.
That
would
be
our
process
next
time
for
sure.
E
Well,
I
have
to
be
honest,
I
think
the
cover
memo
that
went
with
the
packets
mentioned
getting
together
if
I
needed
to
facilitate
a
meeting
set
up
a
zoom
meeting
for
you
all
to
discuss.
I
would
be
glad
to
do
that
and
I
sent
an
email
to
follow
up
asking
if
you
all
needed,
help
setting
up
a
meeting
or
zoom
meeting
to
facilitate
the
discussion,
and
I
got
no
response.
E
And
that
tells
me
that
you
don't
really
care,
and
maybe
you
do,
but
it
doesn't
look
like
it,
and
this
is
not
my
program.
I
mean
this
is
an
hpc
program
and
I've
said
before
I
am
not
the
hpc,
so
you
all
need
to
decide
what
it
is.
You
do
want
to
do
and
what
you
don't
want
to
do,
and
I
know
it's
hard
with
only
having
six
members-
and
I
don't
know
we,
I
we
have
tried
everything
under
the
sun
to
try
to
get
the
three
council
districts
to.
A
Well,
chris,
let
us
let
me
say
how
much
we
appreciate
what
you
are
doing
and
have
done,
and
I'd
like
to
get
some
feedback
from
our
other
commissioners.
So
we
can
move
forward
with
velocity.
F
E
You
know
if
this
is
certainly
a
these
are.
This
is
a
set
schedule
of
things
that
could
be
discussed
at
regular
intervals.
B
I
think
this
is
the
sign
thing
is
one
thing
right
and
then
the
meetings
is
another,
but
I
think
one
of
the
central
questions
about
the
meeting
schedules.
How
much
time
are
folks
willing
to
commit?
I
don't
say
that
in
a
positive
or
negative
ways
is
how
much
time
are
you
actually
able
to
commit,
and
if
it's
quarterly
it's
correlated
or
if
not
it's
monthly,
whatever
you
know
is
essentially
what
we're
seeing
yeah.
How
much
time
do
we
as
individuals
want
to
commit.
A
F
A
F
Which
which
are
leaving
it
up
to
the
somebody
else
to
do
it,
I
would
like
to
see
if
we
can
make
it
work
before
changing
and
take
responsibility
if
it
a
word.
B
A
Okay,
to
ensure
that
we
just
don't
make
this
a
protracted
discussion,
can
we
agree
that
we
will
continue
to
meet
on
a
monthly
basis
and
if
we
don't
have
any
business,
we
just
won't
meet
that
particular
month.
G
G
And
then,
if
we
were
to
go
to
meeting
quarterly,
perhaps
though
it
may
have
already
been
proposed,
but
perhaps
on
those
off
months
could
be
when
committees
meet,
you
know
kind
of
like
the
way
congress
does
or
something
you
know
they
have
a
day
when
they
have
a
full
meeting
in
congress.
Other
days
they
have
a
committee
meetings
and
that
way
you
can
at
least
once
a
month
block
off
time
to
conduct
hpc
business
and
it
might
not
be
the
full
body,
but
it
could
be.
Committees
would
get
together.
E
A
E
If
I
make
mr
wong
your
comment
about
trying
to
make
it
work,
so
is
that
a
suggestion
to
retain
the
the
fall
committee
review
on
signs,
in
addition
to
not
not
going
to
a
quarterly
schedule,
but
keep
the
meetings
the
same,
but
also
make
sure
kick
that
process
to
a
committee?
Is
that
what
you're
saying.
E
F
B
Okay,
so
for
that
discussion,
so
let
me
just
be
clear:
the
committees
are
staying
the
same
or
are
we
switching
out
to
the
fall
structure
where
it's
me,
dr
bailey
and
mrs.
B
D
D
B
A
Right
in,
in
other
words,
if
I
could
paraphrase
what
you're
saying
we
want
to
increase
our
visibility
and
our
assessment,
you
know
we're.
B
I'm
just
basically
reiterating
your
proposal
of
meeting
monthly
unless
we
have
no
business
and
then
not
meeting.
I
think
that's
a
good
idea.
I
agree
with
it.
F
A
C
E
E
A
E
Brantley
lions
marche
johnson
when
she's
new,
so
she
made
and
audrey
graham,
are
the
three
vacancies
we
have.
E
A
C
B
E
E
E
We
definitely
need
that
support
if
you're
going
to
do
anything
in
the
community
beyond
handing
out
signs.
G
B
E
B
B
C
A
A
C
E
Especially
since
the
qualification
for
this
board
is
a
resident
of
historic
district,
which
is
not
for
arb,
not
that's,
just
meaning
that
you
don't
necessarily
have
to
have
a
particular
skill.
You
can
also
just
be
a
resident
of
the
district
to
be
on
hpc.
C
A
D
E
E
E
If
you
want
to,
if
you
want
decide,
you
want
some
neighborhood
representation
or
whatever
we
do
have
a.
I
do
have
a
list
that
I
compiled
for
last
year
and
obviously
we
didn't
do
a
whole
lot
of
things
last
year,
so
we
do,
we
do
have
a
list
that
we
can
target,
but
we'll
also
put
it
out
there
just
generally
to
the
neighborhoods
is
kind
of
our
may
is
historic
preservation
month.
So
that
would
be
our
may
announcement.
C
Well,
I
think
we
had
good
participation
we
had
about
I'm
trying
to
think
we
had
capped
it
at
30,
but
we
had
oh,
we.
C
And
we
had
a
few
little
extras
and
then
we
also
were
approached
by
the
city
of
fairhope,
the
city
of
hoover
and
the
city
of.
E
C
Hpc
equivalent
zoomed
on
the
lectures,
so
they
attended
the
four
lectures
and
so
that
that
was
really
very
imp.
I
mean
that
was
pretty
cool
that
they
wanted
to.
You
know,
so
it
went
really
well
and
I
think
we
had
good
attendance
for
the
most
part.
The
whole
time.
E
We
did
but
it's
another
situation
where
it
was
well
received
by
the
public
and
not
very
well
supported
by
the
hpc
carol
and
dallas
came
to
all
the
classes.
E
I
should
not
have
had
to
have
brought
bags
and
t-shirts
to
any
of
you
tonight,
but
I
did
so.
We
did
not
have
full
participation.
I
did
not
put
a
budget
request
in
for
next
year
to
do
this.
I'd
suggested
before
it
may
need
to
be
in
every
other
year
thing
anyway,
but
I've
also
told
landmarks
if
they'd
like
to
take
it
over.
They
are
welcome
to
do
so
because,
again,
I'm
not
the
hpc.
E
So
this
isn't
really
up
for
discussion
for
next
year,
because
we'll
I'll
be
looking
at
what
we
need
to
do
for
board
training
with
that
clg
certification
anyway-
and
there
are
only
so
many
things
I
can
get
done
so,
but
it's
it's
been.
E
It's
been
incredibly
well
received
and
I
think
they're,
the
landmarks
is
going
to
put
them
up
the
first
four
classes
up
on
youtube
at
some
point
this
summer,
but
we
have
questions
from
people
saying
I
told
my
neighbor
about
it.
Are
you
going
to
do
this
next
year,
and
I
said
I
hope
not
so
there
is
interest
in
in
having
this
so.
C
C
So
there's
there's
kind
of
there's
a
kind
of
a
catch-22
in
there.
You
know
what
do
we
keep
doing
and
then
what
new
do
we
add
as
well,
but
because
they're,
all
the
different
factions
that
we
do
have
are
very
popular
and
very
well
received.
I
think.
E
And
one
of
the
things
we
talked
about
before
is
alternating
with
some
sort
of
thematic
class.
You
know
that
maybe
you
have
a
six-week
offering
where
you
look
at
church
architecture
in
downtown,
montgomery,
historic
churches
in
downtown
montgomery,
where
you
visit
a
different
building
each
week
and
talk
about
the
architecture
and
the
history,
and
that's
just
an
example,
but
where
you
could
have
a
more
thematic
approach
to
of
what's
being
offered.
A
Let
me
just
ask:
are
we
making
a
list
of
our
repeat
attendees,
so
we
know
who's
coming
from
one
year
to
the
next
who's,
repeating.
E
E
We
have
one
sandra
came
to
both
sandra
nickel
was
in
the
first
class,
and
she
came
to
the
second
one.
A
C
E
You
know
we
sent
out
the
curriculum
and
it
hadn't
changed
significantly
from
the
previous
year.
So
most
of
those
folks
wouldn't
have
really
been
interested
in
coming
back.
I
don't
think
the
the
main
difference
was
that
we
had
that
tour
on
goldweight,
which
was
we
got
to
go
into
all
of
the
buildings
which
was
nice.
I
think
everybody
enjoyed
that,
but
that
was
really
the
only
a.
A
B
We've
since
assembled
a
little
exhibit
case
in
the
montgomery
county
archives,
highlighting
the
project
and
kind
of
explained
to
people
what
we're
doing
and
why
so
it's
in
our
lobby,
you
just
can
come
check
it
out
whenever
it's
not
it's
not
huge,
but
it's,
I
think
pretty
well
done
and
pretty
interesting,
so
you
should
stop
by
and
see
it
101
south
lawrence
street.
Thank
you.
You.
B
Archives,
lobby
carol.
That's
a
brilliant
question:
we
have
a
separate
entrance
to
the
county.
B
F
Commissioner,
hambury
don't
leave
before
you
and
I
can
talk.
There
are
some
records
of
deceased
civil
rights
attorney.
B
A
A
Okay,
all
right,
we
have
one
guest
in
our
audience
this
afternoon.
If
you
like
to
say
a
few
words,
please
approach
a
microphone.
You.
D
I
just
want
to
say
good
evening,
I'm
down
here
on
valerie
smithley
with
tours
of
montgomery,
and
I
have
an
interest
in
the
preservation
of
our
historical
sites
here
in
montgomery,
so
I'm
interested
in
knowing
what
you
all
are
doing
and
if
there's
anything
that
I
can
do
to
assist
you
all
on
any
committees
or
anything
of
that
nature
feel
free
to
get
in
touch
with
me.
B
C
D
A
A
D
D
But
I
have
enjoyed
it,
but
I
loved
that
class
I
loved
every
week
that
I
came.
It
was
just
really
wonderful
to
be
there
and
I
learned
a
lot
and
and
christy
and
carol
did
an
excellent
job
pulling
that
together
and
I
would
come
back
again
probably
for
the
same
stuff,
but
I
will
come
back
if
the
definitely
the
agenda
changes.
Some.
