With the events taking place in Ukraine, the original Town Hall slated for February 25th, 2022 was postponed. Instead, NEAR Foundation CEO, Marieke Flament, and Illia Polosukhin, NEAR Protocol Co-Founder, and members of the community, take a moment to address the latest events and growing concerns for the citizens of Ukraine and the global NEAR community.

In the ecosystem, and at the NEAR Foundation our long term goal is to create an inclusive, healthy, self-sustainable, fully decentralized ecosystem with billions of users.

Given the terrible events unfolding in ukraine, we are repurposing today's town hall. We still believe it is important to communicate so ilia and myself are here, but this will be a short message over the last 36 hours. Our focus has been on our community and our people.

As you know, nir is a very global community, with deep roots in ukraine and in russia. As a foundation, we have a team. We have team members living in ukraine as a community. We have a well-established local ukrainian hub with over 50 members, and many of our community members have friends and family from ukraine and from russia.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by the situation and with their families. The technology is neutral, but we are not as a community first ecosystem. We are concerned about the safety of our community and we are continuously monitoring the situation very closely.

If you have any questions, if you want to engage us, you can reach us on support that near that foundation. If you want to donate, please be mindful of where you donate. We are putting together a list of trusted humanitarian, focused resources, and the near foundation will be standing up, an effort leveraging the new technology more on. That will come as soon as possible and again, if you want to help us, please reach out, we will continue to communicate with you over the coming days and weeks in the ecosystem and at the near foundation.

It is especially important in light of events like this to build a more open world. The new foundation is here to support you. We are here for the community and we will continue building together.

Hi everyone, it's definitely a train times, and uh I appreciate everyone who's watching this right now um we have kind of very unfortunate and scary situation right now happening just for context. My family is still in carcass, which is right now being bombed and there are tanks around it. There's a ton of people, kind of hiding each other's in metro in basements, just trying to kind of wait over this and nothing will happen.

The kind of beyond that I mean most of the major cities in ukraine were attacked with kind of explosions, waking up people- and uh you know that continued into this night as well- and so you know this is this is definitely not very not about you know. Any kind of I would say propaganda that the russian government is trying to use it. It's a clear.

Clear attack to actually capture to capture the country, and so I hope like- and I know that a lot kind of our community is you know, obviously very big in russia as well. I know that all of the people in our community don't support this, um and I know it's dangerous as well to protest people getting arrested right now. It would be like for us, as kind of as a global community and a community that values. You know, people's freedom, values ability for people to actually decide on.

What's going on, we should all figure out how we can prevent this from happening.

How we can not, let you know a single person or small minority to be there kind of lead of distraction in the world um if you're working with people from ukraine, if you are, if you are kind of in in communication or anything I mean I understand that they are overwhelmed, but if, if they're in ukraine, they probably try to save their life, if they're outside of ukraine, they probably won't worry about life of their friends and family, so it gives them time to make sure they are have.

They have the time and the the things they need to to carry over. um We will we'll post places to donate to uh to classes that will be funding, medical and food and shelter uh for people.

um Just bunch of people trying to get out of the country for kind of some of the teams is trying to set up a way to get out if you're in ukraine. Right now, you can message me directly. We can, we can add it to our community coordination around that um yeah. It's I mean, I'm I'm sure that we're gonna go through this there's, no there's no other way there, like the the people, have prevailed over and over again any journey or any um kind of attack of humanity.

It will cost us will cost everyone, and so I kind of only I want us to also commit to um then invest into the building of ukraine as this kind of gets over, and um you know empower people who want who kind of right now defending this country, that there will be future that they're defending.
