G
Thank
you,
madam
chair.
I'm
sorry,
I
didn't
know
what
committee
that
one's
going
to
it
is
going
to
commerce
and
labor.
Thank
you.
A
C
Thank
you,
madam
president.
I
would
like
to
take
a
moment
to
recognize
that
today,
as
you
may
have
noticed,
as
we
were
coming
onto
floor
and
was
displayed
on
our
screen
here
on
the
floor,
and
for
those
of
you
joining
us
remotely
that
today
is
nevada
tribes
day
at
the
legislature,
and
so
we
wanted
to
take
a
bit
of
time
to
recognize
and
honor
the
accomplishments
and
the
contributions
of
our
native
populations
here
in
the
state
of
nevada.
C
C
C
The
third
arc
is
home
to
the
western
shoshone
and
extends
from
central
nevada
to
the
eastern
border
with
utah,
and
the
fourth
arc
is
home
to
the
southern
paiute
tribe
and
surrounds
the
las
vegas
area.
In
the
southern
part
of
the
state,
the
state
is
more
than
simply
an
ancient
homeland
to
tribal
groups.
It
is
home
to
the
descendants
of
nevada's
intended
indigenous
people.
The
tribal
groups
today
are
vibrant
and
alive
with
cultural
traditions,
language,
governmental
organizations
and
economic
contributions
to
our
state.
C
C
The
modern
day,
contributions
of
our
indigenous
populations
include
economic
development
on
tribal
land
that
provides
employment
opportunities,
various
projects
by
tribal
communities
that
include
renewable
energy,
installing
fiber
optics
to
expand
broadband
for
telehealth
infrastructure,
building,
a
master-planned
golf
resort,
providing
donations
to
educational
programs
for
tribal
members,
about
gaming
operations
and
laws,
and
sustaining
agricultural
cultivation
and
cattle
raising
programs
in
nevada.
We
all
benefit
from
the
ideas,
culture
and
civic
participation
of
all
of
our
fellow
citizens.
C
Today
we
recognize
the
work
of
the
nevada,
indian
commission
in
developing
a
strong
government-to-government
relationship
between
the
state
and
tribal
groups,
and
if
any
of
you
were
watching
some
of
our
pre-session
budget
hearings,
we
had
a
wonderful
presentation
from
the
nevada
indian
commission
talking
about
the
work
that
they
do
and
the
cultural
resources
that
they
provide
for
people
to
go
and
learn
about
all
of
the
amazing
contributions
that
I've
discussed
a
little
bit
about
today.
C
We
recognize
the
value
of
continuing
a
trusting
relationship
to
ensure
the
cultural
understanding
of
our
indigenous
population
and
today,
as
we
observe
nevada
tribes
day
at
the
legislature,
we
want
to
just
take
a
moment
to
recognize
and
honor
all
of
those
who
have
helped
to
make
nevada
our
home
and
with
whom.
I
hope
we
can
do
and
take
some
time
today
to
do
a
bit
of
outreach
and
learn
just
a
little
bit
about
those
indigenous
populations
that
contribute
so
much
to
the
beauty
of
our
state.
Thank
you,
madam
president,.
G
Thanks,
madam
president,
to
follow
up
on
the
majority
leader
I
actually
was
asked
by
janet
davis,
who
is
the
chairwoman
of
the
pyramid,
lake,
pirate
tribe,
to
say
hi
to
everybody,
since
they
can't
come
in
the
building,
they'd
love
to
have
been
here
on
indigenous
people's
day.
For
me,
I
represent
38
000
square
miles,
nevada,
and
in
that
I
have
the
pyramid
lake
reservation.
I
have
shers
the
walker
river
tribe.
G
In
fact,
they
call
themselves
the
the
pneumo,
which
means
in
their
language
the
people
and
this
little
license
plate
that
I'm
showing
was
actually
given
to
me
by
a
past
chairman
of
the
pyramid,
lake
tribe,
so
quick
reach
out.
G
I
just
want
to
do
that
for
for
janet
and
tell
everybody
that
they
are
thinking
of
us
and
wanted
us
to
they'd
love
to
be
here,
but
they
can't
also,
I
don't
know
if
everybody
knows
we
have
a
full-blooded,
indian,
paiute,
indian
ira,
coffee,
who
is
one
of
our
security
people
here
and
ira
is
a
very
close
friend.
G
Obviously
we
hit
it
off
from
having
the
same
first
name,
but
if
you
chan
have
a
chance
today
ought
to
just
say
hi
to
ira
and
if
you'd
like
come
to
my
office,
I
actually
had
him
make
some
genuine
indian
arrows
tipped
with
obsidian
points
even
and
he
explained
he'll
explain
to
you
the
meanings
of
the
the
colors
on
the
arrow
and
the
feathers
and
so
forth.
So
we
have
some
people
and
you
know,
having
grown
up
in
nevada
and
in
the
sparks
area.
G
One
of
my
best
friends
was
jimmy
abbey,
who
also
was
a
full-blooded
paiute
indian
and
those
of
us
who
grew
up
in
the
smaller
towns
in
nevada.
There
were
lots
and
lots
of
indian
kids
that
we
grew
up
with,
so
we've
got
a
great
personal
relationship
with
them
over
the
years
as
well.
They've
had
it.
They
obviously
have
made
a
huge
contribution
to
the
state.
G
G
It's
sad
that
that
that
is
a
an
unfortunate
heritage
that
we
we
have
and-
and
we
do
owe
them
a
great
deal
because
of
that-
and
I
am
very
proud
to
see
that
they
are
asserting
more
and
more
of
their
sovereignty
and
standing
up
for
themselves
and
their
rights,
and
even
on
situations
like
the
innovation
zones.
G
I
don't
you
know
the
indians
are
very
concerned
about
it
because
of
its
dramatic
impact
that
will
have
on
them
right
next
to
this,
so
they're
they're
very
involved
politically,
and
I
just
wanted
to
tell
all
of
us
here
to
keep
those
folks
in
mind.
While
they
may
not
be
huge
parts
of
your
constituencies,
they
are
of
mine
and
they're
an
absolute
contributor
to
everything,
that's
positive
about
the
state
of
nevada.
Thank
you,
madam
chair.
A
All
right
hearing,
none
senator
canezzaro.
C
Thank
you
matt.
Thank
you,
madam
president,
with
that
I
move
that
the
senate
stand
in
adjournment
until
the
hour
of
11
a.m.
On
thursday
february
11
2021.
