A
Here,
thank
you.
Let
the
record
reflect
there
are
21
senators
standing.
I
mean
well
they're,
not
standing
present.
Let
can
we
please
stand
for
the
invocation
by
reverend
nick
emery
of
hope,
crossing
community
church
in
carson
city.
C
Let's
pray
together,
father
god.
Thank
you.
For
this
day,
I
recognize
that
many
aspects
of
our
life
are
affected
in
some
way
by
the
officials
we
elect
to
govern
our
cities,
states
and
nation.
These
leaders
carry
a
lot
of
responsibilities
and
they
need
strength
and
wisdom
every
day.
So
please
give
them
strength,
give
them
wisdom
and
guide
them
and
their
decisions
surround
them
with
people
from
all
walks
of
life
and
many
backgrounds
bring
them
people
of
high
moral
character
and
spiritual
maturity
among
the
many
voices
which
cry
out
to
them
every
day.
C
We
boldly
pray
that
you
would
bind
their
hearts
together
in
ways
that
they
would
never
have
imagined
give
each
one
of
them
strength
to
reach
out
to
those
across
the
island
to
work
together
this
year.
We
ask
these
things,
great
god,
with
open
minds
to
your
holy
word
and
hearts
that
trust
in
you
hold
bless
and
encourage
these
women
and
men
and
bless
our
great
state.
We
pray,
amen.
A
Thank
you,
you
may
be
seated
order
business
number
three
reading
and
approval
of
the
journal
by
pre-previous
order
of
the
senate.
The
reading
of
the
journal
is
dispensed
with
and
the
president
and
secretary
are
authorized
to
make
the
necessary
corrections
and
additions,
order,
business,
number,
nine
motions,
resolutions
and
notices,
senator
cannazzaro.
D
B
A
D
Thank
you,
madam
president.
I
did
want
to
take
just
a
moment
to
recognize
cyrian,
who
was
part
of
our
capital
press
corps
here,
and
certainly
a
legend
in
the
world
of
journalism
and
wanted
to
take
a
moment
just
to
honor
his
life
and
his
career.
D
He
was
a
proud
nevadan
who
dedicated
his
life
to
fair
and
straightforward
reporting.
After
serving
in
the
navy
during
the
korean
war,
mr
ryan
attended
the
university
of
nevada's
school
of
journalism,
launching
him
into
a
career
spanning
six
decades
in
1960.
Mr
ryan
was
hired
by
the
united
press
inter
international
for
its
capital
bureau
in
carson
city
and
held
this
post
until
1990.
When
the
wire
service
went
out
of
business,
he
was
then
hired
by
former
governor
michael
callahan,
the
publisher
of
the
las
vegas
sun,
to
become
the
sun's
capital
bureau.
Chief.
D
that
career
spanned
nearly
60
years,
encompassing
30,
regular
and
23
special
legislative
sessions.
Think
of
it,
he
interviewed
13
nevada
governors
from
grant
sawyer
to
brian
sandoval
from
a
legislative
perspective,
that
length
of
service
translates
to
10,
different
senate
majority,
floor
leaders
and
22
individual
assembly
speakers.
So
I
was
the
picture
of
what
most
people
think
of
when
they
visualize
a
journalist,
a
hard-nosed
reporter
asking
tough
questions,
taking
detailed
notes.
Pursuing
leaders
in
agency
heads
for
comments
and
chasing
down
leads
for
his
stories.
D
We
all
recognize
that
the
fourth
estate
is
vital
to
having
an
informed
electorate
with
an
accountable
government
and
cyrian
was
the
embodiment
of
that
principle.
He
was
the
journalist
journalist,
the
reporters
reporter
and
his
colleagues
recognized
his
talent
years
ago
and
inducted
him
into
the
nevada
press
association's
hall
of
fame.
D
D
I
think
it's
a
testament
to
his
character
and
his
commitment
to
excellence
when
one
of
the
first
governors
he
interviewed
later
hired
him
as
a
lead
reporter
and
brian
sandoval.
The
last
governor.
He
interviewed
with
called
him
quote
a
wonderful
man
who
was
uncompromisingly
true
to
all
the
tenants
of
his
profession.
D
I
know
many
of
you
here
knew
sai
and
we
will
miss
him
dearly,
although
his
legacy
for
asking
tough
but
fair
questions
will
long
be
remembered
on
a
lighter
note,
in
honor
of
sir
ryan,
for
today
at
least,
we
should
all
try
not
to
avoid
jeff
dornan.
When
he's
trying
to
get
you
for
a
comment
for
a
story.
A
Thank
you.
You
have
heard
the
motion.
All
those
in
favor
signify
by
saying
yay
oppose,
nay
motion
carries
senate
is
adjourned.
God
bless
sir.
