Last
session,
my
colleague
from
district
one
brought
a
very
comprehensive
improvement
bill
to
our
sexual
assault
policy
in
sb
368,
and
we
also
passed
ap
176
the
sexual
assault
victims
bill
of
rights.
We
found
that
here
well
into
the
21st
century.
We
still
had
to
take
action
to
empower
victim
survivors
to
be
supported,
informed
and
in
charge
of
many
aspects
of
the
response
to
assaults
they
suffered.
E
I
am
proud
to
co-sponsor
this
legislation
and
appreciate
the
hard
work
of
the
assistant
majority
leader
in
carrying
this
bill.
This
session,
I
have
also
introduced
sb
364,
which,
which
requires
training
for
hospital
and
er
staff,
who
will
encounter
victim
survivors
and
requires
that
emergency
contraceptives
be
provided
upon
request.
E
I've
also
worked
with
students
from
nevada
campuses
to
bring
sb
347,
which
seeks
to
empower
students
to
work
with
enchi
institutions
to
improve
sexual
assault
response
processes
and
improve
campus
safety
in
relationship
to
sexual
assault.
This
is
important
work.
The
us
justice
department
estimates
that
less
than
five
percent
of
campus
sexual
assaults
are
reported
to
campus
or
community
law
enforcement,
that
is
a
barrier
to
the
health
and
safety
of
victim
survivors
and
their
ability
to
pursue
an
education.
E
I
urge
us
all
to
be
active
supporters
of
the
legislation
we
receive
this
session
that
makes
policy
and
funding
changes
showing
we
stand
against
sexual
violence
in
the
state
of
nevada
and
in
the
nevada
state
senate.
I
appreciate
everybody's
time
today
and
all
the
people
who
have
come
out
in
support
of
these
important
policies
that
combat
sexual
violence
and
sexual
assault
in
the
state
of
nevada,
and
I
look
forward
to
the
work
that
we
will
continue
to
do
together.
F
F
What
the
convention
was
was
a
culmination
of
about
30
years
of
work
for
the
united
nations,
and
it
was
not
only
about
violence,
but
it
was
about
opportunity.
It
was
about
equality,
so
I
lift
up
the
convention
on
the
elimination
of
all
forms
of
discrimination,
also
known
as
also
known
as
sedon.
Thank
you.
A
All
right,
senator
canozzaro.
D
D
Birthday
and,
madam
president,
I
am
proud
today
to
also
have
managed
to
find
a
pair
of
denim
that
I
could
wear
today,
but
I'm
proud
to
do
so,
because
I
do
think
that
sexual
violence
is
absolutely
one
of
one
of
the
toughest
things
that
I
think
we
as
a
society
deal
with,
and
you
know
having
to
have
those
conversations
with
young
women
about
making
sure
that
they
protect
themselves.
D
D
If
you're
out
with
friends,
those
kinds
of
conversations
are
tough
and
sexual
violence,
more
often
than
not
goes
unreported,
and
yet
the
victims
often
live
in
silence
and
in
shame,
having
felt
either
partially
responsible
or
guilty
for
what
happened
and
unable
to
function
without
thinking
of
it
on
a
regular
basis,
and
so
I
think
anything
we
can
do
to
bring
awareness
to
that
cause
and
to
let
people
know
that
this
is
one
not
an
acceptable
thing
in
our
communities,
but
two
that
victims
are
seen
and
heard
and
known
that.
D
This
is
something
that,
when
we,
when
we
invest
appropriate
resources
in
can
really
give
help
to
them.
I
think
is
important,
so
I'm
very
proud
to
be
wearing
denim
to
give
some
appearance
and
recognition
for
those
those
victims
and
I'm
proud
of
the
work
that
this
body
has
done
over
the
time
that
I
have
been
here
to
help
elevate
that
recognize
it
and
address
it.
