D
Mighty
god,
we
are
grateful
for
the
hope
of
better
days,
even
this
year
as
the
war
against
this
pandemic.
Slowly
turns
a
corner,
we're
so
thankful
for
all
who've
dedicated
themselves
to
helping
others
from
the
researchers
who
created
the
vaccines
to
the
doctors,
nurses
and
all
front-line
workers,
treating
those
impacted
by
covid
and
protecting
those
spared.
Thus
far,
we
ask
you
to
guide
this
body
and
the
people
of
our
state
so
that
together
we
might
help
those
whose
lives
have
been
profoundly
impacted
by
this
disease.
D
Please
help
those
attempting
to
restore
their
livelihoods
and
businesses
or
to
obtain
a
job
again
refresh
the
souls
of
those
who
labor
unnoticed,
especially
caregivers,
encourage
those
who
have
been
isolated
and
lonely.
This
past
year,
especially,
are
elderly
and
continue
to
comfort
the
nearly
5
200
nevada
families,
who've
lost
a
loved
one
during
this
pandemic,
and
we
ask
for
your
guidance
direction
and
wisdom
for
the
senate
today,
as
they
do
their
part
to
lead
our
state
out
of
this
pandemic.

F
Thank
you,
madam
president.
I
wanted
to
acknowledge
that
today
is
equal
pay
day.
This
is
the
day
of
the
year
of
2021
that
if
women
had
continued
to
work
in
the
year
2020,
we
would
have
finally
earned
the
same
amount
of
money
over
the
course
of
that
year.
As
our
male
counterparts
and
here
in
nevada,
women
aren't
just
83
percent
of
what
their
white
male
counterparts
do,
and
women
of
color,
specifically
black
and
brown
women
earn
even
less
black.
F
Women
earn
just
65
compared
to
white
men
and
latino
women
earn
only
54
percent
thanks
to
legislation
enacted
by
previous
nevada
legislatures
nevada's.
Women
are
better
off
than
women
across
the
country
and
more
broadly,
but
there's
still
a
lot
of
work
to
be
done.
At
the
current
rate,
the
gender
pay
gap
nationally
will
not
be
closed
until
2044..
F
So
I
just
wanted
to
take
pause
today
to
recognize
equal
pay
day
and
let
us
take
the
time
to
listen
to
stories
from
women
across
nevada
and
understand
that
we
have
the
ability
to
make
a
change
for
them
and
for
our
daughters
and
for
our
future,
and
I
hope
that
we
will
all
keep
this
in
mind.
As
we
continue
with
the
important
business
of
this
chamber
today
and
always
thank
you.
C
Thank
you,
madam
president,
and
I
thank
my
colleague
from
cine
district
9
for
recognizing
that
today
is
in
fact
equal
pay
day,
and
I
just
wanted
to
add
a
little
bit
to
that.
To
give
a
little
bit
of
perspective
in
terms
of
numbers
that
we're
talking
about,
which
is
that
today,
a
woman
who
is
just
starting
out
will
earn
approximately
four
hundred
and
six
thousand
seven
hundred
and
sixty
dollars
less
over
a
forty
year
career
compared
to
her
male
counterparts
and
for
women
of
color.
The
inequity
is
even
more
pronounced.
C
I
know
we
had
some
time
yesterday
to
discuss
some
things
that
touched
on
this
and
certainly
are
happy
that
we
were
able
to
pass
an
equal
pay
bill
last
legislative
session.
But
this
is
something
that
still
exists
today
and
is
important
to
note
that
as
of
today,
this
is
when
a
woman
who
is
working
full
time
will
earn
the
same
amount
as
her
male
counterpart.
So
on
equal
pay
day.
