From YouTube: ONNX Foundation WG - LF AI intro meeting 20190911
Description
Meeting recorded by Jim Spohrer (IBM) on September 11, 2019. This is intro meeting with Linux AI (LF AI) Foundation: Mike Dolan and Ibrahim Haddad.
A
Hi
everyone-
this
is
Jim
Spore
I'm,
a
co-chair
of
the
Onyx
in
a
foundation
working
group
along
with
Ryan
Loney,
who
may
be
joining
us
shortly.
He's
my
co-chair
wenching
to
from
future
way
is
also
part
of
this
onyx
community
working
group
I
do
have
on
the
call
with
us
and
I'll
ask
them
to
introduce
themselves
and
just
a.
B
A
A
That
will
be
next
to
give
a
you
know,
a
brief
history
of
the
mission
of
the
nonprofit
foundation,
the
ability
of
processes
and
foundation
to
provide
a
vendor-neutral
home
for
onyx
IP
in
assets
that
what
is
the
process,
the
ability
and
process
for
the
onyx
community
to
continue
to
be
self
governed,
I
have
to
say,
I've
gone
to
I.
Guess
two
years
now:
onyx
community
meetings,
the
steering
committee
includes
Microsoft
Facebook,
Amazon,
Intel
and
NVIDIA.
It's
a
very
well-run
community.
The
community
meetings
are
always
work
very
well
attended.
A
One
hundred
hundred
and
fifty
people,
the
last
one
was
Nvidia
lots
of
informative
talks.
Just
a
very,
very
well-run
community,
so
I
think
the
ability
of
the
home
nonprofit
foundation
to
allow
the
insect's
community
to
continue
to
self-govern
is
a
important
point
for
the
community
and
I
think
we
have
some
time
there's
a
few
additional
QAS
that
the
community
is
asked
about.
A
Where
is
there
already
onyx
adoption
or
future
potential
synergies
within
the
Foundation's
projects
and
how
does
the
foundation
see
the
alignment
with
the
onyx
community,
core
values
of
speed,
transparency
and
openness?
So
without
further
ado,
I
will
ask
Abraham
and
Mike
if
you
could
introduce
yourself
and
then
I
know,
you've
prepared
a
brief
presentation,
I
think
I
think
actually
most
of
the
questions.
I
just
read
you
answer
in
your
brief
presentation,
so
that
would
be
fantastic.
A
A
And
I'd
like
to
own
a
working
Linux
Foundation
on
the
setup
information
of
the
projects
that
we
host
I
work
on
the
governance,
structures
and
intellectual
property
matters
around
various
projects
and
help
get
them
started
off.
I
also
run
our
legal
programs
and
run
our
legal
team
at
the
LF.
So
I
didn't
follow
to
a
lot
of
your
organization's,
various
attorneys
on
various
various
topics,
great
thanks
for
making
the
time
so
Abraham.
A
C
A
B
A
C
Today,
so
just
actually
few
minutes
ago,
I
was
actually
going
through
the
arm.
The
onyx
website
just
saying
to
go
the
active
community
there
and
what
was
really
interesting
is
to
find
that
there
are
actually
six
members
of
the
onyx
community
highlighted
on
your
website
that
are
actually
on
the
board
of
the
excavation
and
actually
four
of
these
four
members
are
actually
members
of
LSA
I
and
on
the
board
of
P
of
them
on
the
board
of
les
AI.
So
this
is
actually
a
great
start
for
us.
C
So
we've
put
we
put
down
three
different,
slides
or
four
slides
that
we
walkthrough
likens
myself
and
cover
the
different
points
that
are
just
raised.
So
as
you're
very
familiar
with
explanation.
We
are
set
up
at
the
foundation
of
foundation,
so
we
have
multiple
of
what
we
call
umbrella
foundations.
C
That's
because
what
we
aim
for
is
have
a
governance
structure
that
works
for
the
projects
we
host,
so
you
can
see
how
they
know
that
we
actually
link
to
your
governance
and,
typically,
if
it's
given
government
works
for
a
given
projects,
we
just
all
of
it
and
if
a
given
project
and
come
of
them
come
to
us
without
any
governance,
we
work
with
them
on
documenting
governance
that
we
would
like
to
set
up,
and
we
continue
with
that.
So
there's
the
Vino
forcing
function
in
terms
of
what
governments
should
be
set
for
any
given
project.
C
It's
the
project's
decision
on
this,
so
it's
completely
open
to
the
project
and
as
part
of
the
Foundation's
setup,
we
provide
an
easier
home
AR,
and
that
applies
to
all
the
projects
we
have,
including
all
the
projects
we
on
board
it
on
NSA,
I
terms
of
trademark
ownership
or
the
domain.
Any
social
accounts
that
the
project
has.
So
even
all
these
accounts,
including
the
tape
marks,
are
actually
transferred
to
the
foundation
to
be
managed
as
part
of
the
foundation
assets
away
from
the
control
of
anything
go
entity.
C
C
Okay,
so
I'm
going
forward
so
Alice
AI
is
one
of
the
other
umbrella
foundations
under
the
Linux
Foundation
and
the
effort
was
started,
kicked
off
early
in
2018.
It
was
actually
announced
end
of
March
of
2018
with
the
goal
to
become
the
home
of
open
source
AI
projects
seeking
sustainability
of
long-term
in
utero
home,
seeing
a
place
where
a
lot
of
companies
can
come
in
and
work
together
under
under
fair
and
mutual
governance.
C
And
today
we
are
17
or
18
members,
and
you
know
welcome,
welcoming
Jim
again
from
IBM
who
just
recently
join
us
about
a
month
ago
and
five
different
projects,
and
we
have
a
number
of
activities
that
are
going
with
a
different
amount
of
synergy
with
the
onyx
community
and
I
will
touch
on
that
as
well.
So
in
terms
of
what
we're
doing
in
relation
to
onyx-
and
that
was
one
of
the
questions-
our
Jim
actually
ends
up
at
the
beginning
of
the
call.
C
So
every
single
member,
if
you
go
to
every
single
number
in
LSA
I
at
the
company-
and
you
know
we
have
while
we're
actually
on
the
call
they
are
actually
on
our
board.
So
she
asked
why
we
are
excellent.
Ok,
all
the
companies
ever
NSA
I.
You
will
have
a
hundred
percent,
yes
vote
on
on
the
support
of
having
onyx
as
part
of
FAI.
They
are
active
with
within
the
project.
C
So
so
there's
a
lot
of
intersection,
not
just
in
terms
of
membership,
but
also
in
interest
and
in
collaboration
with
onyx
at
the
project,
not
just
at
a
standalone
organization
in
that
sense,
in
terms
of
day-to-day
operation
and
I
wish
Alex
from
Alex
circulation
or
what
was
here
because
he
would
be
a
great
witnesses.
Oh
you.
A
C
Problem,
so
so
one
of
the
things
that
we
we
pride
ourselves
with
is
a
complete
separation
between
the
foundation,
governance
and
the
funding
governance
and
the
technical
project
governance.
So
we
absolutely
do
not
interfere
in
any
kind
of
day-to-day
project
operations.
The
only
time
actually
the
project's
hear
from
us
is
basically
how
can
I
help
you?
What
can
I
do
for
you
we're
doing
opposed
to
doing
that.
Also,
basically,
it's
going
to
provide
different
opportunities
for
the
projects,
and
this
is
basically
when
the
project
here
directly
from
once.
C
Otherwise,
you
know,
of
course,
at
any
point
of
time,
if
they
need
any
help
or
support
they
come
to
us,
but
a
third
of
the
others
Reno
entanglement
in
terms
of
how
the
foundation
is
managed
and
how
the
staff
work
there
versus
how
the
technical
project
is
managed.
Technical
projects
are
managed
by
detecting
the
on
technical
community
under
their
own
governance,
and
there
is
absolutely
no
interference
with
back
and,
as
I
mentioned,
we
are
super
excited
to
have
the
opportunity
about
this.
C
I
think
I
talked
to
several
people,
including
people
on
this
call
about
onyx
and
holding
in
the
LFA
I
or
even
their
RF,
and
we
even
invited
onyx
community
members.
They
spoke
to
our
community
towards
the
end
of
last
year
with
Mathieu
time,
and
you
know
we're
extremely
eager
to
not
just
to
host
onyx
but
to
provide
you
know
whatever
support
and
help
and
take
collaboration
opportunities
across
our
projects
with
the
Oryx
community
out
numbers
and
the
project
itself.
C
So
in
terms
of
hosting
requirements
and
process.
So
we've
gone
through
the
checklist
last
night.
On
the
left-hand
side,
you
can
see
the
project
requirements
to
host
as
an
incubation
project,
so
the
first
one
is
to
be
for
the
project
to
have
in
art
I
oversaw
slices,
which
is
applicable
in
the
onyx
case.
C
So
you
have
four
sponsors
who
are
on
the
board
and
on
the
onyx,
not
to
mention
everybody
else
in
LFA
I
was,
you
know
very
supportive
and
could
be
volunteering
to
be
the
sponsor
of
being
in
the
project,
and
it
definitely
fits
within
our
mission
scope
of
supporting
the
open
source,
AI
ecosystem
with
that
that
has
been
the
case
really
since
the
inception
I
haven't
you
know
I
even
before
joining
us
AI
and
the
acceleration
just
sitting
on
the
peripherals
and
being
interacting
at
the
Samsung
person,
I've
heard
of
efforts
to
try
to
bring
in
onyx.
C
So
there's
this
desire
of
you
know
the
project
fits.
What
we
want
to
do,
there's
a
lot
of
intersections
with
our
projects.
Number
four
is
allowing
you
to
ownership
of
assets
such
as
stay
mark
domain,
name,
social
accounts,
github
account,
and
so
on.
So
on
this
one
we
have
a
basic
agreement
which
is
a
transfer
of
the
trademark
from
the
owner
of
the
trademark
to
the
LF
and
also
a
assigning
the
accounts
to
the
acceleration.
So
basically
we
become
admin
on
these
various
accounts.
So
this
is
open.
C
Number
five
is
to
have
the
governance
structure
that
is
documented
and
people
can
see
it
and
provide
feedback
on
it,
and
this
is
done
so
in
terms
of
requirements.
There's
just
one
open
item
which
is
basically
signing
the
agreement
with
the
owners
of
the
trademark
and
ensuring
that
there's
a
Linux
Foundation
admin
on
that
counts.
C
As
for
process,
it
is
extremely
simple
at
this
point
just
because
onyx
have
been
already
presented,
our
members
of
our
technical
communities,
aware
of
it
that
actually
a
lot
of
our
communities
already
involved
in
onyx
in
the
dye
capacity
as
members
of
both
LFA
I
and
onyx
community,
other
members
of
our
community
are
engaged
with
onyx
as
a
user,
basically
as
adopters,
so
the
process
typically
is
includes
inviting
the
project
to
come
in
and
do
a
presentation,
but
all
of
that
has
been
done.
C
So
what
you
can
see
on
the
screen
is
kind
of
an
expedited
process
which
will
basically
agood
preparing
a
short
proposal.
So
we
have
a
template.
It's
about
a
page
to
two
pages
that
we
fill
out.
We
share
to
our
technical
community
and
then
we
present
we
will
have
I
get
from
the
onyx
community
to
come.
In
present,
the
proposal
to
the
FAI
community
as
part
of
the
Technical
Advisory
Council
bi-weekly
meetings
and
I
know
Jim
a
tendency,
Okies
and
then
on
the
call,
the
Technical
Advisory
Committee.
A
A
Guess
that
would
be
Microsoft
and
Facebook
are
the
owners
of
the
assets
I
believe
so
so
that
would
be
working
directly
with
them
and
their
lawyers
for
the
for
this
part
right,
sometimes
Facebook
filed
the
trademark
for
onyx
I've
worked
with
Facebook,
quite
often
on
transfers
for
projects,
okay,
that
we've
been
doing
with
them.
So
we
have
a
template
that
works
for
them,
works
for
us
and
so
I.
Don't
think
there
would
be
any
issues
there.
Okay,
great,
like.
A
Know
we
can
get
to
the
next
steps,
but
we're
we're
organizing
for
a
vote
inside
the
onyx
community
and
that's
going
to
take
a
couple
weeks,
because
we
still
also
have
to
talk
to
the
Apache
foundation.
We
will
talk
to
the
clips
foundation
and
we
just
want
to
do
a
couple
iterations
to
make
sure
the
community
has
the
information
before
they
vote
and
then
they
vote
so
yeah
I
think
we
would
like
to
you
know
tentatively,
and
you
know,
pending
the
approval
of
the
onyx
board.
You
know
we
would
like
to
forget
that
day.
A
C
Yeah
I
think
that
this
is
a
LifeFlight,
so
we're
so
the
deck
which
I
shared
this
gym
has
a
lot
of
other
information,
but
we
wanted
to
make
sure
there
is
enough
time
for
Q&A
and
I'm
just
going
to
stop
here
and
open
it
for
more
shows,
please
great.
B
A
It's
either
one
of
us
can
inches
no
requirement
to
join
the
Linux
Foundation
to
participate
in
any
of
our
projects
that
LFA
had
projects
or
others.
So
you
know
what
to
participate
in
any
project.
Go
ahead.
The
technical
communities
are
completely
open,
they're
out
a
github,
usually
or
you
know
out
on
some
sort
of
get
server
or
repo.
There's
communication
tools,
the
communities
you
can
sign
up
to
mailing
list
for
the
technical
communities
and
everything
you
know.
A
B
C
Absolutely
so
we
actually
have
our
within
the
LFA
I.
We
have
a
committee
that
you
call
the
Outreach
Committee,
and
this
is
basically
focused
on
Artesia
activity,
marketing,
PR
communication
and
every
year.
I'll
give
you
an
example
of
this
year,
and
next
year
looks
it's
not
the
same
looks
actually
more.
We
actually
have
at
the
beginning
of
this
year.
Until
now,
we've
in
every
exhalation
event,
the
Leadership
Summit
open
source
summit.
C
We
have
actually
a
two
or
three-day
track
that
you
call
LFA,
I
or
LS
opening
I
track,
which
is
focused
on
talks
that
we
create
in
within
the
open
source,
AI
domain
and
starting
the
open
source
EU
summit
open
source
summit
in
in
end
of
October.
We
actually
are
spinning
off
and
hosting
our
own
LFA
I
co-located
summit.
That
would
be
three
days,
I.
Think
on
this
one.
We
have
19
or
20
different
talks
from
many
companies
here,
including
Google,
Microsoft
IBM
and
many
others
who
are
also
active
in
the
Onyx
community.
C
So
we
have
our
starting
end
of
this
year,
going
into
next
year
we're
going
to
have
our
own
summit
that
will
be
co-located
with
open
source
summit
in
in
China
in
US
and
grid-view.
We
also
have
what
we
call
LS
AI
base
or
LFA
I
developer
days,
and
we
consistently
have-
and
we've
been
doing
this
in
2018
as
well,
three
of
them,
so
we
have
an
event
per
day
in
u.s..
C
We
have
one
in
in
China
and
we
also
have
one
in
Europe
and
I'm
actually
headed
to
one
in
Europe
tomorrow,
and
in
addition
to
that,
you
also
have
a
lot
of
support
to
to
our
project
in
terms
of
announcement
for
new
releases
explaining.
What's
what's
what's
new,
we
are
now
doing
it's
not
published
yet,
but
we're
doing
Q&A
sessions
with
different
maintainer
support
project
trying
to
promote
them
and
promote
the
project.
We
also
support
our
projects
and
publishing
papers.
A
C
At
a
technical
level-
and
we
support
our
members
with
their
activities
in
terms
of
deploying
the
solutions
and
using
these
projects
within
their
commercial
solutions
and
products,
so
we
do
really
a
lot
of
work
in
you
know,
under
the
umbrella
of
marketing,
which
cover
press
releases
announcement
for
the
project
we
help
with
websites
with
logo
designs
with
papers
with
booth.
We
have
elephant
I,
put
on
almost
every
other
Linux
Foundation
event,
where
we
show
cases
on
demos
of
the
different
projects
and
so
on.
So
there's
a
lot
of
efforts
actually
go
into
that
space.
A
David,
no
I'm
good,
good,
all
right,
fantastic,
great
I,
think
so
as
if
I
meant
to
say
also
just
a
reminder
like
Ibrahim
we
we
didn't
hear
you
have
included
a
number
of
slides
about
El,
FAI
and
also
Zbornak,
send
it
and
I'll
just
offer.
If
anybody
has
any
questions
offline
or
something
that
you
know,
we
didn't
cover,
if
they're
giving
the
recording
we'd
be
happy
to
jump
on
a
call
or
anything
over
email,
the
greater
that's
great
yeah,
so
Ryan's
uploading
these
recordings
to
the
onyx
community.
A
So
our
our
next
step
is
well,
should
we
still
have
to
talk
to
the
Apache
foundation
and
build
the
education
material
for
the
community
about
each
of
the
options
and
then
have
a
have
our
votes
and,
and
then
the
steering
committee
ultimately
of
course
decides
after
they
say
what
the
you
know.
The
community
is
where
the
community
is
most
interested,
we'll
be
in
touch
and
I
really
appreciate
you
taking
the
time
even
ham
and
mike
has
been
really
great,
concise
information
so
and
well
presented
so
really
appreciate
it
and
we'll
circle
back.
A
C
So
these
slides
will
get
a
lot
more
information
on
FBI.
Everybody
would
like
to
browse
that
and,
as
Mike
mentioned,
what
Michael
and
my
email
are
on
the
cover
page.
So
please
free
to
reach
out
if
there
are
any
further
follow-up.
Okay,.
