A
If
you
could
remain
standing,
our
colleague
councillor,
Keith
eglee,
has
some
very
special
guests.
We're
gonna
sing
our
national
anthem
and
I
want
to
thank
the
tamir
choir
very
much
they
present
at
Keith
and
I
with
a
beautiful
copy
of
their
CD
soul2soul.
So
thank
you
to
me
right.
I
know
a
number
of
you
I
see
you
at
Tim
Hortons
at
Carling
wood,
all
the
time
so
nice
to
have
you
at
City,
Hall
and
councillor
egg
Lai.
If
you
could
introduce
these
great
ambassadors
for
the
city.
Thank.
D
You
very
much
mr.
mayor,
so
today
we
have
the
Tamir
neshama,
choir
and
Tamir
is
a
proud
and
caring
team
of
participants,
families,
volunteers
and
staff
dedicated
to
promoting
quality
of
life
for
persons
with
developmental
disabilities
through
opportunities
for
personal
growth
and
community
involvement.
The
Tamir
neshama,
which
means
soul
choir,
is
a
group
of
singers,
with
developmental
disabilities,
dedicated
to
celebrating
the
power
of
music
to
bring
joy,
inspire
and
unite
people
of
all
ages
and
abilities
and
I.
Think
that's
something
we
can
certainly
use
in
the
city
this
week.
So
thank
you
for
that.
D
They
are
under
the
choir
direction
of
Nigel
Harris
where's
Nigel
Thank,
You
Nigel.
The
choir
has
been
entertaining
audiences
since
2002
in
a
variety
of
settings
from
churches
and
synagogues
to
hospitals
and
special
events
in
Ottawa
such
as
world
religion
day,
the
Ottawa
tulip
festival,
the
Holocaust
Remembrance
Day
in
Parliament
Hill.
The
choir
has
also
performed
at
special
engagements
in
Montreal
Toronto
Calgary
and
Boca
Raton
Florida,
the
neshamah
choir
sings
in
a
variety
of
languages
and
performs
an
eclectic
mix
of
music
from
many
genres.

A
It's
now
an
honor
to
invite
mark
Wigmore
to
the
podium
for
this
council
city
builder
award
presentation,
shave
it
madam
mark

welcome
counselor
and
ischenko
from
capital
ward
to
join
us
for
the
presentation
it's
David
here.
He
is
I'd
also
like
to
extend
a
very
warm
welcome
to
the
family,
friends
and
associates
of
mr.
Widmore,
who
were
here
today
in
the
gallery.
A
This
award
recognizes
people
who
have
demonstrated
an
extraordinary
commitment
to
making
our
city
a
better
place
through
outstanding
volunteerism
and
exemplary
action.
I
appreciate
this
opportunity
to
recognize
marks
dedication
to
camp
miss
and
the
Ottawa
race
weekend,
and
to
thank
him
for
his
enduring
contributions.
The
preclusive,
a
name
etna
marks,
has
been
several.
A
Near
grace-filled
hosts
summer
camps
for
children
and
adults
with
developmental
disabilities
mark
has
been
a
great
help
to
the
Board
of
Directors,
particularly
with
fundraising
efforts
for
the
camp
at
Camp
me.
They
rely
on
the
revenue
from
campers
to
run
the
camp
so
the
more
money
they
raise
themselves,
the
more
additions
they
can
make
to
the
camp
and
the
lower
they
can
keep
the
registration
fees
in
the
past
several
years.
Through
marks,
fundraising
efforts
and
ideas.
A
Thousand-Dollars
himself,
this
year,
collecting
sponsors
for
the
camp
during
the
Ottawa
Reece
race
weekend,
half
marathon.
Now,
when
mark,
isn't
volunteering
and
doing
great
work
and
raising
money
for
the
camp,
you
can
usually
find
him
volunteering
with
race
weekend,
which
took
place
of
course.
Last
weekend
this
week
mark
organized
all
the
pace
bunnies
of
each
race
and
that's
a
lot
of
pace
bunnies,
because
I
was
there
for
for
that
marathon
and
he
participated
in
the
half
marathon
himself.
I'm
sorry,
the
army
weekend
was
this
year's
was
a
little
earlier.
A
This
is
the
tenth
year
mark
has
helped
out
at
race
weekend
and
he's
led
a
team
of
68
bunnies,
which
he
called
the
biggest
pace.
Bunny
team
in
Canada,
it's
my
honor
on
behalf
of
current
councillor,
David
chan
de
sheng,
co.
To
present
the
mayor
city
builder
award
to
mark
week
mark
congratulations
mark
thanks
for
the
good
work.
F
Thank
You
mayor
and
Thank
You
councillor
a
great
honor
for
me,
and
it's
a
bit
odd
this
week
receiving
a
volunteer
and
were
given
the
tornado
and
all
the
volunteers
that
are
working
hard
to
help.
The
community
come
back
together,
and
so
it's
a
bit
humbling
to
receive
this
award
in
that
context
and
that's
just
a
big
shout
out
to
everybody:
who's
who's
working
hard
across
the
city
on
behalf
of
everybody
that
was
affected
when
my
wife
heard
about
beginning
the
builders
award.
Her
first
remark
was
thank
God.
F
It
wasn't
the
painters
award
because
you're
an
awful
painter
so
and
when
I
heard
about
the
award
and
learned
to
mic,
my
kids
were
involved
in
the
nomination.
I
I
really
was
pondering
what
they
actually
said
about
me.
So
obviously
they
said
something
nice,
which
is
always
refreshing
as
a
parent
to
think
that
they
came
to
that
I
guess
I'm
here
because
of
a
canvas
school
which
is
an
awesome
camp,
important
contribution
to
the
community
and
Fozzy
Mancos
here,
and
it's
really
the
driving
force
behind
that
camp
and
I.
F
Thank
him
for
including
me
and
those
those
efforts
with
race
weekend
and
the
Pacers
and
with
army
running
the
Pacers
is
something
I've
been
doing
for
the
past
years
and
it's
an
awesome
experience.
In
the
last
couple
years,
I
I've
tried
my
passion
for
the
camp
and
my
passion
for
running
together
through
the
Scotiabank
charity
challenge
and
album
race
weekend
is
here
that
that
charity
challenge
collectively
raises
eight
hundred
thousand
dollars
a
year
for
charities
in
Ottawa
and
means
a
lot
to
the
small
charities
like
can't-miss.
F
Who
can't
really
do
those
sorts
of
events
on
their
own,
so
I
think
al
for
his
involvement
in
allowing
us
to
to
link
in
with
that
and
finally,
I'd
like
to
thank
my
wife,
who
behind-the-scene
tolerates
all
that,
including
the
multiple
sets
of
bunny
ears
that
seem
to
be
around
the
house
every
year
as
I
organized
the
Pacers.
So
thanks
again,
mayor
thanks,
Thank
You
councillor
and
I
really
appreciate
this.
Thank
you.
A
Council,
which
councillor

served
on
for
many
years,
represents
more
than
150
library

US
and
Canada
OPL
was
recognized
with
the
honor
at
the
2018
ulc
annual
forum,
which
was
held
September
5th
to
7th
Baltimore
in
Baltimore
Maryland.
A

A
Excuse
me
offering
from
220
submissions
in
ten
categories
OPL
one
in
the
category
of
collections
that
demonstrate
the
value
and
impact
of
Public
Library
Service
for
being
the
first
public
library
in
Canada
and
one
of
the
first
in
north
america
to
introduce
an
express
ebook
service
with
express
ebook
loans.
Customers
can
borrow
the
latest
and
most
popular
english-language
ebooks
for
a
loan
period
of
seven
days.
This
new,
offering
excuse-me
gives
customers
a
quick
and
easy
way
to
access
popular
best-selling
works
of
fiction
and
nonfiction
right
at
their
fingertips
that
nouvelle
FFA's.
So.
C
A
Shorter
loan
period
and
non
reservable
status,
Express
items
help
OPL
optimize
its
collection.
The
best
part
is
that
OPL
customers
have
access
to
their
favorite
titles
more
quickly.
In
addition,
the
Express
ebooks
option
is
easy
to
use
and
compatible
with
most
devices.
Again
my
sincere
congratulations
to
councilor
tyranny,
the
chair
of
the
board
Danielle
McDonald
and
the
project
team
of
Laura,
Matt,
Amy
and
Monique
for
this
prestigious
recognition,
I'll
call
in

or

A
G
F
G
G
Award
on
behalf
of
the
Ottawa
Public
Library-
and
this
is
a
very
meaningful
award,
as
we
were
up
against,
as
the
mayor
has
mentioned,
the
best
library
systems
in
Canada
in
the
US,
and
we
were
the
only
Canadian
Library
to
receive
an
innovator
award
in
2018,
and
this
award
is
truly
about
the
great
staff
on
opie
ELLs
content,
Services
team-
who
you
see
here
today?
They
they
deserve
all
the
recognition
and
the
credit.
This
is
their
hard
work.
G
This
award
is
key
because
it
underscores
both
the
importance
of
customer
service
to
our
library
system
and
fostering
innovation
through
staff
initiative
and
perseverance
staff
had
been
looking
for
a
technical
solution
to
this
customer
inequity
for
some
time,
and
the
good
news
is
that
they
did
not
give
up
on
their
great
idea,
even
when
it
did
not
look
so
promising.

who
have
also

us
here
today.

C
A
Have
raised
more
than
six
million
dollars
for
the
United
Way
since
2001
when
it
was
designated
the
city's
corporate
charity
of
choice?
Over
the
past
five
years
alone,
city
employees
have
raised
more
than
two
million
dollars
for
local
people
in
need
that
have
changed
the
lives
of
more
than
5,000
of
our
fellow
citizens.
During
the
2017
campaign
city
employees
raised
two
hundred
and
eighty
thousand
nine
hundred
and
twenty
seven
dollars,
and
this
year
our
goal
is
to
help
1,000
local
people
by
raising
a
total
of
three
hundred
thousand
dollars.

Youth

and
many
others.
A
few

include
the
Boys

Girls

WorldSkills
employment
center
and
the
distressed
center
of
the
Ottawa
region.
The
United
Way
continuously
fosters
partnership
between
business
government
and
community
at
AZ
law
at
large
and
we're
very
fortunate
in
Ottawa
to
have
a
United
Way
song
trade
to
help
identify
where
support
is
needed,
the
most
in
our
community
in
determining
how
to
invest
our
donations
in
ways
that
produce
the
greatest
results.
I
now
ask
Carroll
ganyo.
C
Thank
you
good
morning,
everyone
first
I'd
like
to
acknowledge
that
it's
been
a
difficult
few
days
for
many
and
that
all
of
you
sitting
around
this
table
I
know
have
been
working
24/7.
So
thank
you
and
thank
you
to
the
first
responders.
We
also
have
been
very
active
on
the
ground,
our
connecting
with
frontline
agencies,
and
we
are
looking
at
the
the
weeks
and
months
to
come,
because
that's
what
United
Way
is
all
about.
It's
a
365
day
organization.
C
We
can
coordinate
our
efforts
and
invest
where
they're
needed
the
most,
and
we
could
not
do
that
unless
we
had
this
this
partnership,
that's
long-standing
I'm,
going
to
invite
all
of
you
to
look
for
an
announcement
that
will
be
made
later
today
around
our
efforts,
the
in
a
coming
weeks
and
months
and
I
invite
all
of
you
to
consider
those
who
less
fortunate
who
are
still
struggling
and
who
will
be
struggling
for
the
weeks
and
months
to
come.
Thank
you
very
much
for
your
time.
A
So,
thank
you.

A
You
all
know
last
Friday
many
communities
in
the
West
and
South
End
of
Ottawa
were
hit
by
severe
weather
events,
including
two
tornadoes.
This
severe
weather
affected
literally
tens
of
thousands
of
residents
across
our
city,
causing
significant
damage
to
homes,
infrastructure
and
trees
and
leaving
hydro
customers
without
power
done
Robin,
Craig,
Henry,
Arlington,

Hunt,
Club,
Riverside
and
Green
borough
have
all
been
affected
following
more
than
350
early
assessments
by
Building
Code
services
across
the
affected
areas,
I'm
told
that
30
homes
in
done
Robin
will
likely
require
complete
demolition.
A
20
others
are
in
critical
condition
and
that
will
require
further
inspections
to
determine
if
they
can
be
repaired
in
the
PN
and
Ottawa
South.
Another
55
homes
have
been
deemed
unsafe
to
occupy.
There
are
more
than
100
families
that
are
currently
without
a
home
following
a
path
of
destruction
that
occurred
in
just
a
few
moments.
My
thoughts
and
our
collective
thoughts,
of
course,
are
with
them
and
with
all
the
other
residents
who
have
been
affected
in
some
way
by
these
storms.
I
also
want
to
wish
the
residents
injured.
A
Have
been
visiting
these
neighborhoods
to
meet
with
residents
and
crews
and
it
is
heartbreaking
to
see
the
devastation
that
has
been
suffered.
That
said,
we're
grateful
that,
despite
the
significant
damage
witness
throughout
the
region,
there
were
no
fatalities.
Some
significant
damage
was
also
suffered
by
our
neighbors
and

in

A
Brockington
and

for
their
presence
on
the
ground
and
their
role
in
providing
comfort
to
residents
and
moral
support
to
our
crews.
These
were
the
counselors
whose
wards
were
most
adversely
affected,
but
I
also
want
to
thank
all
other
counselors
whose
wards
may
not
have
been
affected
with
significant
damage,
but
whose
communities
lost
power
for
their
hard
work
in
delivering
food
and
comfort
and
information
to
their
residents,
particularly
the
vulnerable
residents
and
seniors
who
were
in

Buildings.
A
We
know
that
this
is
a
stressful
time
too,
for
everyone,
especially
those
whose
homes
have
been
damaged
or
destroyed,
and
also
our
first
responders,
another
city
staff
who
have
been
working
around
the
clock
since
Friday
night
to
provide
first
aid
support,
restore
power
and
clean
up.
The
debris
left
behind.
This
truly
has
been
a
team
Ottawa
approach,
but
we
also
know
that
Ottawa
is
resilient,
not
reveal
a
2-0
suit,
come
on
our.
A
To
make
it
through
the
spring
flooding
in
2017
and
the
ice
storm
in
1998
will
also
get
through
this
storm
in
the
days
and
weeks
and
months
together.
I
want
to
take
this
opportunity
to
thank
our
entire
community
for
the
way
you
have
responded
to
this
emergency.
Most
importantly,
I
want
to
thank
and
recognize
the
tremendous
work.
Our
first
responders
paramedics,
police
officers,
firefighters,
including
our
very
dedicated,
volunteer,
firefighters,
many
of
whom
were
on
the
site
in
done
Robin
very
quickly.
A
Manager,
Steve
Cadillac,
is
our
general
manager
of
emergency
services,
Tony
Demonte
police,
chief
Chuck
Bordeaux
fire
chief
Kim
ayat,
paramedic,
chief
Miles,
Cassidy,
Pierre,
Poirier
manager
of
emergency
security
and
emergency
management,
dr.
vera
HS
and
the
entire
senior
leadership
team
for
coordinating
an
outstanding
response
from
city
services
also
with
us,
along
with
those
individuals,
I've
mentioned,
is
one
of
the
first
constables
that
was
on
the
site,
Sammi
Troost
Tina,
who
was
with
us,
and
you
can
only
imagine,
coming
in
to
done
Robin
as
one
of
the
first
police
officers.
A
His
skill
was
put
to
the
test
to
bring
stability
and
security
to
the
site.
I
also
want
to
thank
Brice
Conrad
who's
here
with
us
today
and
his
extraordinary
team
at
hydro,
Ottawa
Brice,
you
and
your
entire
team
made
us
feel
very,
very
proud,
and
we
thank
you
for
the
tremendous
work
those
men
and
women
did
on
some
under
some
very,
very
difficult
circumstances.
Bravo
and
please
pass
along
our
sincere
thanks.
A
They
have
literally
been
working
around
the
clock
since
Friday
evening
to
restore
power
to
the
hundreds
of
thousands
who
were
left
in
the
dark
by
the
storm
I'm
pleased
to
report.
At
this
time
there
are
only
41
homes
that
remain
without
power
and
we
hope
to
have
these
restored
by
the
end
of
today.
Once
these
41
are
back
on,
the
grid
power
will
have
been
restored
to
every
home
where
it
was
safe.
A
I
also
want
to
take
a
moment
to
sincerely
thank
the
City
of
Ottawa
emergency
operations
team
who
mobilized
very
quickly
to
coordinate
response
efforts,
including
setting
up
welcome
centers,
to
provide
emergency
shelters
to
all
affected
neighborhoods
and
a
big
shoutout
goes
to
our
many
community
partners
who
have
stepped
up
to
help
once
again,
the
Red
Cross,
the
Ottawa
Food
Bank
local
food
banks
and
the
Salvation
Army,
who
have
been
feeding
those
without
power
for
days.
I
can't
forget
to
the
tremendous
donations
that
have
come
in,
namely
from
the
Sens
foundation.
A
Canadian
Tire
Rogers,
CN,
Rail
and
uber,
who
have
all
given
generously
to
support
the
efforts
of
the
Red
Cross
and
to
the
small
businesses
that
provided
pizza,
sandwiches
and
coffee.
Your
gestures
made
a
big
difference
for
those
in
need.
Finally,
I
want
to
thank
our
residents
for
their
generosity
over
the
last
five
days:
j'avais
MLC
since
a
mono
resident.
Finally,.
A
He's
I've
heard
so
many
stories
of
people
opening
their
doors
and
homes
to
neighbors
and
to
complete
strangers
to
ensure
everyone
had
access
to
food
and
shelter.
Let
me
just
tell
you
one
story
that
Elie
is
familiar
with
because
he
was
with
me
at
the
time,
as
I
was
traveling
to
Don,
Robb
and
I've
lost
track
of
the
days
now.
I
think
it
was
two
days
ago
with
the
Governor
General
she
mentioned.
She
was
talking
about
her
interest
in
sport
and
I
said
one
of
the
people
who
has
been
adversely
affected.
A
It
was
Todd
Nicholson
who
received
the
order
of
Ottawa.
He
was
the
chef
de
mission
for
our
Paralympic
team.
He
a
Paralympian
gold,
medalist
and
his
home
was
destroyed
and
she
said
I
know
Todd
and
she
sent
him
a
text
and,
as
it
happens,
when
we
went
into
the
neighborhood
that
was
I
think
on
porcupine.
A
If
I'm
not
mistaken,
Eli
we
saw
Todd
in
his
driveway,
so
we
pulled
over
got
out
and
the
Governor
General
gave
him
a
big
hug
and
his
wife
Emily
was
there
and
his
son
and
they
brought
us
inside
his
home
and
the
entire
roof
had
been
ripped
off.
It
was
unbelievable.
The
sight
the
the
bedroom
was
thrust
into
the
the
living
room
and
Emily
and
Todd
told
me
this
story
about
well.
A
First
of
all,
Todd's
brother
lives
in
kin
burn
and
his
house
was
ravaged
by
the
tornado
as
well,
and
Emily
was
telling
me
the
story
of
they
were
missing
their
goldfish,
their
son's
goldfish
and
they
came
in
after
all
of
the
fire
and
police
could
give
them
permission
and
they
found
the
goldfish
bowl
intact.
With
the
goldfish
and
the
goldfish.
His
name
was
happy
still
there,
but
Emily
said
it
was
spitting
out
little
pieces
of
insulation
that
had
fallen
into
the
bowl,
but
the
ball
remained
intact.
A
They
cleaned
out
the
bowl
and
there
now
I
think
renaming
the
goldfish
happy-go-lucky,
because
that
was
one
lucky
goldfish,
but
we
all
know
that
many
people
still
need
help
and
many
are
offering
to
donate
funds
to
those
affected
or
offering
to
volunteer
their
their
time
to
those
in
need.
Please
consider
donating
to
the
Red
Cross
local
food
banks
in
the
Ottawa
Food
Bank
and
the
Salvation
Army.
You
know
this
is
why
I'm
so
proud
to
be
mayor
of
this
city
because
of
the
kindness
and
solidarity
of
our
residents.
A
They
are
the
ones
who
really
make
Ottawa
great
city
to
live
in,
but
we
know
our
work
is
far
from
done.
We've
established
a
vulnerable
persons,
Task
Force,
which
is
providing
water
food
and
support
at
15
buildings,
predominantly
occupied
by
seniors
and
I,
know
counselor,
leaper
and
and
councillor
Taylor,
who
have
a
number
of
senior
citizens
where
we're
helping
on
that
outreach
along
with
councilor
McKenney,
of
course,
who
has
a
lot
of
och
properties
in
her
building
and
councillor
flurry.
A
As
chair
of
och,
you
worked
hard
to
ensure
that
food
got
to
these
people
who
did
not
have
access
to
go
out.
Perhaps
an
elevator
was
down
ongoing.
Wellness
checks
are
being
performed
by
fire
services,
Ottawa
Public
Health
and
the
Ottawa
search
and
rescue
volunteer
group,
and
they
have
so
far
connected
with
more
than
3000
households.
A
Residents
who
are
still
in
need
of
food,
water
or
shelter
should
call
3-1-1
enhance
service
still
is
available,
and
today,
with
the
support
of
affected
councillors,
I
will
be
bringing
forward
a
motion
to
waive
fees
for
demolition
and
building
permits,
as
well
as
other
permits
related
to
the
damage
caused
by
the
tornadoes
and
the
storm
and
I.
Thank
our
general
manager,
Steve
Willis
for
his
quick
response
to
that
request
that
I
brought
forward
and
councillor
Brockington
also
raised
the
issue
yesterday
at
the
Planning
Committee.
A
The
waiver
of
these
permits
will
save
our
impacted
families
between
five
hundred
and
two
thousand
dollars
in
their
efforts
to
rebuild
their
homes.
It
is
our
hope
that
this
will
help
those
residents
and
families
who
have
lost
so
much
during
this
difficult
time
again.
I
want
to
sincerely
thank
all
our
eyes
residents
for
coming
together
in
such
a
phenomenal
way
during
such
a
difficult
time.
Let's
continue
to
work
together
over
the
coming
weeks
and
months
and
our
community
reap
as
our
community
rebuilds
from
this
disaster
continue
the
Bokova.
Let's.
A
A
J
I
You
mayor
for
the
privilege
and
honor
to
introduce
this
motion
last
Friday
many
lives
in
our
communities
changed
forever.
Most
of
us
got
that
annoying
sound
on
her
phone,
an
emergency
alert.
How
many
of
us
reacted?
How
many
of
us
thought
we
would
actually
see
a
tornado
I'm
telling
you
right
now
after
Friday
all
of
Ottawa.
In
fact,
all
of
Eastern
Ontario
will
pay
attention
when
we
hear
that
alert
the
two
tornadoes
that
touchdown
now
we
know
there
were
more
than
that.
I
think.
I
There's
six
confirmed
that
touchdown
in
Ottawa
cause
unbelievable
devastation
houses,
flattened
cars
tossed
around
like
toys
and
trees,
uprooted
from
the
ground,
and
while
the
wind
whipped,
causing
power
failures.
Unlike
anything,
we
have
seen
since
the
ice
storm
of
98.
The
real
news
story
was
what
happened
next.
I
Never
in
my
life
have
I
been
prouder,
my
city
out
in
bar
Haven,
over
three
days,
starting
less
than
12
hours
after
the
storm,
Lisa
McLeod
Minister
of
every
people,
thing
Daryl,
Bartra
and
and
the
Daryl's
as
we
like
to
say
and
I
fed
people
hot
meals,
six
in
total,
total
of
almost
10,000
people.
Thousands
of
people
pass
through
Larkin
Park
and
they
passed
through
for
the
hot
meal,
but
also
for
the
companionship
in
their
time
of
need
out
and
done.
I
Robin
an
emergency
shelter
was
established
at
West,
Carlton,
High,
School
and
within
mere
minutes
of
opening
volunteers,
began
to
show
up
for
help
and
still
are
not
caring
what
they
had
to
do
just
ready
to
do
anything,
and
so
it
continued
over
the
weekend.
So
many
stories
of
people
helping
people.
What
touched
me
the
most
was
hearing
from
seniors
who
were
alone
in
their
homes.
They
were
lonely.
I
We
really
were
the
heart
of
the
community,
and
today,
just
five
days
later,
we
are
in
the
recover
and
rebuild
phase
a
city
counselors.
We
have
been
out
in
the
communities
we
have
seen
the
devastation
from
which
people
NAR
need
to
start
to
rebuild
their
lives,
the
cost
the
time
the
effort
and
that
this
will
take
seems
insurmountable,
but
I
have
seen
what
the
community
can
do
and
I
know.
I
As
a
city,
we
will
continue
to
support
our
neighbors
as
a
council,
we
have
the
opportunity
to
make
that
task
just
a
little
less,
financially
burdensome
burdensome.
With
this
motion
today,
the
mayor
and
I
are
requesting
your
approval
to
waive
many
of
the
city
fees
that
will
come
in
the
BRE
building
face
with
your
support.
Everything
from
demolition
fees
to
building
permit
fees
will
be
waived
for
those
impacted
by
the
storm.
It
is
our
hope
that
this
will
help
those
who
could
use
a
hand
right
now
as
they
rebuild
after
the
storm.
Thank
you.
Mr.
I
D
I
mean
ooh
to
speak
to
this.
It's
it's
interesting.
I
was
being
interviewed
on
CFRA
when
it
was
just
announced
that
this
motion
was
coming
forward
and
the
announcer
said.
What
will
you
be
saying
at
the
debate
and
I
said?
Well
there
better,
not
be
any
debate
this
this,
this
better
passed
unanimously
and
I-
think
it
will
today,
but
I
I
do
want
to
take
this.
This
quick
opportunity,
along
the
lines
of
of
the
wonderful
choir
that
we
heard
from
I,
think
they
could
have
sung
what
a
wonderful
City,
because
white
counts
were
harder.
D
What
I
have
seen
in
my
community
is
absolutely
astounding
to
me
the
number
of
people
that
have
come
out
and
helped
the
businesses,
the
churches,
the
partnership
that
we've
built
with
the
Salvation
Army
to
serve
hot
meals
in
manner
Dale
and
Tanglewood
in
Arlington,
woods,
Craig
Henry,
just
the
the
number
of
people
that
just
have
called
and
emailed
and
said
I
can
do
this.
I
can
offer.
D
Now
in
my
community,
and
I
understand
that
we're
still
working
hard
at
that,
we
hope
to
have
that
resolved
by
the
end
of
the
day.
So
thanks
very
much
to
to
hydro
and
now
now
we
start
the
next
stage,
which
is
the
rebuild
stage,
and
the
houses
are
going
to
be
easy.
The
trees
are
going
to
be
much
harder
in
arlington
woods.
We
we
had
trees
there
that
were
in
excess
of
100
years
old,
beautiful
trees
that
have
come
down,
hundreds
of
them
that
will
come
down
and
so
I
hope.
Soon.
D
When
the
dust
settles,
we
can
start
having
discussions
about
how
we
rebuild
the
forest
in
that
area.
How
we
get
the
replanting
done,
and
so
people
can
once
again
quite
clearly
quite
emphatically
call
it
Arlington
woods
and
I
look
forward
to
seeing
your
staff
in
the
mayor's
support
in
this
and
again,
thank
you
very
much
to
all
my
residents
for
being
patient
for
being
resilient
and
pitching
in
Thank.
K
Thank
you,
Thank
You,
mr.
mayor,
and
thank
you
for
your
leadership
and
also
for
your
support
to
right
across
the
city,
I'd
like
to
begin
by
saying
it's
great
we're
waiving
the
fees
of
those
here
and
that's
a
welcome
in
news,
but
what
we
heard
time
and
time
again
from
our
resident.
They
need
that
process
to
be
expedited.
K
That's
underestimation,
we
have
almost
every
emergency
vehicle
available
was
on
hand
to
support
and
help
the
community
emergency
responder
went
door
to
door
three
times
checking
and
that
was
hit
area
three
times
to
make
sure
nobody
left
behind.
No
one
had
to
get
to
or
someone
under
the
rubble
in
in
the
basement.
I
know
the
mayor
and
I
were
talking
to
one
of
looks
like
a
civilian,
but
he
was
a
volunteer
firefighter.
K
He
get
the
call
he
work
in
Canada,
he
show
up
at
the
scene
and
he
was
taking
notes
for
for
the
fire
department
who's
going
on
tour
to
check
on
resident
and
the
mayor
to
ask
him.
So
where
do
you
live
because
I
live
behind
the
mall
with
the
most
hit
area
we
call
it
is.
That
is
the
a
area
which
is
the
most
effective
and
he
said
so
have
a
check
on
your
house.
Are
you
there?
K
I
said
no
I
haven't
I
just
came
to
work
here
immediately
and
yesterday,
I
found
out
when
I
saw
him.
He
had
one
of
those
people
who
lost
his
home
permanently.
This
is
the
people
we
can
talk
about
it
forever,
but
we
are
strong.
We
are
resilient.
We
all
all
day
above
but
I,
think
at
some
point,
I
have
to
say
we
had
enough.
We
had
a
flood
here
and
half
ago
now
we
have
a
tornado
and
God
forbid
them,
so
we
had
enough,
but
we
need
your
support
not
just
for
today.
K
We
had
inspector
Rob,
Bernier
and
Chief
Jim
Andrews
from
the
emergency
responder
and
the
paramedic,
and
they
got
a
standing
ovation.
Folks.
These
got
a
standing
ovation
from
people
who
lost
at
home.
That's
how
much
they
appreciate
the
service.
We
do.
Our
public
works.
Folks,
I
cannot
say
enough
about
them.
They
went
out
in
the
rain
opening
debris,
opening
the
ditches,
making
sure
on
culvert
our
function
and
removing.
K
K
Yes,
tomorrow,
the
dignitary
and
all
these
folks
will
go
home,
but
though
some
of
those
resin
have
no
home,
so
I'm
asking
you
to
to
keep
that
in
mind
when
somebody
need
a
demolition
permit
when
he
need
a
building
permit.
If
we
can
expedite
their
service,
that's
that's
the
only
request
I
have
from
you
and
for
the
volunteers.
They
keep
saying.
Oh
I
want
to
help,
but
I
can
help.
We
have
over
450
skill
volunteers.
K
Today
on-site
we
have
to
make
room
for
those
folks
with
heavy
machinery
and
and
skilled
workers,
so
they
can
climb
roofs
and
do
the
proper
job.
We
can't
have
all
the
volunteer
because
the
site
is
not
secured.
Yet
you
can
step
on
broken
glasses
or
nails
or
other
would
keep
in
all
those
names
and
we
will
reach
out
to
the
volunteer.
But
I
want
to
thank
you
and
behalf
all
my
resident
and
all
the
folks
who's
the
every
day.
We
cannot
thank
you
enough
to
all
the
city
on
all
the
city
staff
Thank
You.
Great.
J
Thank
You
mr.
mayor
and
I
would
first
like
to
thank
our
senior
leadership,
team
city
staff,
emergency
services
and,
of
course,
hydro
Ottawa
for
their
tremendous
and
ongoing
efforts
to
assist
residents
affected
by
Friday's
storm
I'd
also
like
to
acknowledge
and
thank
all
of
the
volunteers
who
have
donated
their
time,
opened
their
homes
and
served
hundreds
of
hot
meals
to
entire
neighborhoods.
J
It's
amazing
to
see
community
come
together
in
times
like
these
and
I
have
to
say,
like
all
of
us,
I'm
so
proud
of
this
city
I'm
also
very
impressed
with
the
cleanup
efforts
that
have
occurred
to
date.
The
destruction
in
many
of
the
neighborhoods
that
I
represent
so
case
green
borough
and
how
car
park
is
shocking,
but
I
think
it's
also
remarkable
that
nobody
lost
their
lives
in
in
this
storm.
J
And
you
know
I've
been
out
in
the
neighborhood
for
the
last
number
of
days
since,
since
this
storm
talking
to
people
and
I've
heard
so
many
stories
of
people
cheating
death
when
fellow
I
was
talking
to
he.
His
wife
and
son
went
to
a
gunk
one
perk
for
the
weekend
and
he
was
building
a
new
fence.
He
had
it
all
finished,
he
just
had
to
stain
it
and
he
stayed
home
for
the
weekend
to
stain
his
fence,
and
so
he
was
in
his
house
when
the
tornado
hit
and
he
heard
a
noise.
J
Winds
is
Adam
and
he
can't
get
out
and
he
said,
I
felt
like
I'm
gonna
die
here
and
he
said
he
couldn't
open
the
door
to
the
bathroom
to
get
out
because
it
was
the
wind
was
so
strong
and
he
said
he
just
all
of
his
might
hit
just
rip
that
door
open
because
he
knew
he
wasn't
going
to
survive.
If
he
didn't-
and
he
said
he
walked
out
in
the
hall.
J
The
roof
had
blown
off
his
house
and
he
felt
like
he
was
in
a
snow
globe,
because
there
was
just
insulation
everywhere
and
he
said
I
realized.
Then
I
got
to
get
to
the
basement
or
I'm.
Not
going
to
survive
and
he
did
and
he
survived
and
after
you
know,
one
minute
or
whatever
it
was
the
storm
had
blown
through.
He
went
out
to
survey.
The
damage
had
no
roof.
J
The
tree
on
his
front
yard
was
on
his
car,
and
his
brand-new
fence
was
gone
and
all
he
could
think
is
how
fortunate
he
was
and
I
think
that's
what
we've
all
heard
from
everybody
like
and
community,
came
together
and
they're
all
out,
helping
each
other
and
even
in
the
face
of
such
destruction.
This
community
came
together
in
the
most
magnificent
way
and
it
tells
us
what
a
great
city
we
live
in
and
I
I
think
as
we
move
forward
not
today,
but
perhaps
for
another
day.
J
I
know
Environment
Canada
was
kind
of
slow
to
to
notice
some
neighborhoods
that
had
at
ornate
tornado
touched
down
like
like
Green
borough,
and
so
it
was
hard
to
get
the
attention
because
other
neighborhoods
were
so
affected,
but
especially
seniors
like
social
media
was
really
really
good
at
pushing
out
messages.
But
a
lot
of
seniors
felt.
Maybe
the
communication
could
have
been
different
and
because
Environment
Canada
hadn't
confirmed
that
a
tornado
touched
down.
J
Maybe
we
didn't
do
quickly
enough
there
often
enough,
and
so
maybe
it's
a
direction
to
staff,
but
at
some
point
I,
obviously
busy
now
and
you're
doing
great
job
cleaning
up
and
I
appreciate.
But
at
some
point
in
the
future,
if
we
could
talk
to
the
affected
neighborhoods
and
and
learn
the
lessons
and
hear
their
feedback
I
think
that
would
be
useful
in
this
process.
So
of
course
I
support
the
motion
and
again
I.
Thank
everyone
for
your
tremendous
efforts.
Thanks.
L
L
And
you
know
there
were
areas
within
the
city
that
were
harder
hit,
but
within
River
Ward,
particularly
the
The
Hunt
Club
neighborhood
saw
significant
damage
as
well,
particularly
to
the
quarry
co-op
and
a
number
of
streets
and
communities
east
of
the
coop
west
of
the
airport,
Parkway
very
grateful
to
Parks
and
Rec,
who
had
the
Hunt
Club
Riverside
Park,
Community
Center
opened
Friday
night.
The
staff
at
the
center
were
fantastic
and
working
with
staff
got
the
canterbury
community
association
opened
up
and
we
had
14
members
of
my
community
staying
the
night
there
as
a
shelter.
L
There
were
a
number
of
homes
that
were
damaged
and
with
that
ruse
and
again,
not
as
perhaps
as
as
bad
as
done,
Robin
or
parts
of
Nepean,
but
certainly
this
part
of
River
Ward
as
well
I'm,
just
very,
very
grateful.
It's,
as
other
speakers
have
said,
that
the
team
spirit
and
the
strong
community
spirit
that
exists
in
the
city
and
within
our
communities
is
as
Bar,
None
great
thing
to
see
and
I
do
concur.
I
will
not
be
speaking
at
length
about
a
post-mortem,
but
I
do
think.
L
There
are
some
good
discussions
that
need
to
happen
that
later
on
and
improve
for
for
future
events,
I
do
have
one
question
only
related
to
the
motion
that
I'd
seek
clarification
on
and
that's
regarding
tree
removal.
If
there
are
trees
on
private
property
that
are
damaged
and
need
to
come
down,
will
there
be
fees
charged
to
homeowners
to
remove
those
trees,
or
will
those
fees
be
waived
and
part
of
this
motion.
M
Mr.
mayor,
just
consulting
with
mr.
Wylie,
we
don't
generally
charge
fees
for
the
removal
of
trees
on
on
private
property
unless
they're
under
the
distinctive
tree
permit
category,
and
if
that's
the
instance
since
counsel,
will
gladly
recommend
adding
that
as
a
friendly
amendment
to
the
motion
that
distinctive
tree
permits
also
be
fees,
be
waived.
I
would.
A
Sorry,
you
want
to
write
that
out
for
me
and
just
give
to
the
clerk,
so
we
can
update
the
memo
or
opt
information:
okay,
okay,
Thank,
You
counselor.
Does
anyone
else
wish
to
speak
to
the
motion,
we'll
just
wait
for
just
a
moment,
so
I
think
people
understood
what
councilor
Brockington
was
suggesting
and
agreeable
to
that
on
the
trees.
L
L
A
You
know
you're
not
telling
us
to
do
one.
Okay,
all
right.
It's
just
the
fees
associated
with
taking
down
a
tree
as
opposed
to
you
know
where
I
think
I
mentioned
a
mr.
Cadillac,
just
one
of
the
things
that
we've
got
to
do,
particularly
in
Harlan
Arlington
woods
where
there's
so
many
trees,
damage
we're,
not
gonna,
go
get,
get
a
slide
rule
out
and
start
to
figure
out.
Is
that
a
city
tree
or
a
public
tree
on
the
front
lawn
and
we'll
just
take
them
all,
but
we're
not
going
into
people's
backyards?
M
A
A
Thank
you

including
those
originally
arising.
Sorry,
sorry,
thank
you.
I
apologize
I
had
it
written
down
here
and
I.
Couldn't
read
my
writing.
As
always,
city
manager,
Cadillac
Asst
we'd,
ask
you
to
wrap
up
on
the.
B
Shayne
Thank,
You,
mayor
and
I
do
I
didn't
want
an
opportunist
feat,
because
it's
it's
an
opportune
time,
we're
not
there.
Yet
we
still
have
a
long
way
to
go,
but
I
think
it's.
It's
opportune
for
me
to
emphasize
a
couple
things
in
terms
of
the
city's
commitment
to
oh
councilman
to
our
community
and
I'd
like
to
also
acknowledge
some
of
the
work
for
maybe
a
different
different
perspective.
B
You
know
I've
been
doing
this
for
I've
been
involved
in
major
emergencies
in
incidents
in
this
city
for
almost
over
30
years
and
I
can't
think
of
anything.
That's
happened
in
this
city
that
I've
been
involved
in
in
some
capacity
back
to
the
80s
and
which
says
probably
a
lot
about
a
lot
above
me,
but
one
thing:
I
have
recognized
over
all
these
incidents.
That
is
that
each
one
is
very
unique
requires
flexibility
and
adaptability
and
adjustments
regardless
what
our
plans
are.
B
B
I
think
we
need
really
need
to
put
an
emphasis
on
people
that
they
need
to
be
ready
for
that
seventy-two
hours
without
power,
and
it's
something
that
we
really
want
to
emphasize,
because
that
helps
everybody
when
people
can
be
self-sufficient
for
a
while
done.
Robin
Craig,
Henry,
Arlington,
woods,
Hunt,
Club,
Riverside
green
borough
were
were
hit
so
hard
for
those
three
tornadoes
that
such
down
and
then
we
wake
up
on
Saturday
morning
with
170,000
people
without
power.
That's
a
situation.
B
We
walked
into
an
Emergency
Operations
Center
on
Saturday
morning,
after
dealing
with
it
on
Friday
night.
I
think
that
I
response
by
our
firefighters,
paramedics
and
police
were
was
world-class
by
any
standard
by
anything
I've
ever
seen
over
my
30
years
of
Emergency,
Management
and
response,
but,
however,
after
emergency
responders,
respond
and
deal
with
what
they
have
to
deal
with.
Work
ought
work
collectively,
left
and
I
say
that
collectively,
all
of
us,
a
community
included
with
the
aftermath
of
a
significant
deterioration
and
destruction
of
people's
property
and
their
lives
are
upended
and
this
affected.
B
And
this
is
a
time
where
I
think
the
city,
the
province
community
organizations.
Volunteers
really
need
to
step
up
our
efforts
to
help
these
affected
communities
and
get
them
back
on
our
feet
and
I've
always
used
the
tagline
one
city.
One
team,
because
I
want
to
assure
council
on
a
community
that
the
senior
leadership
team
or
we've
had
this
discussion
and
our
briefing
yesterday.
B
We
are
not
taking
our
foot
off
the
gas
until
we
collectively
get
through
this
most
difficult
phase
of
the
recovery,
because
this
is
actually
the
hardest
part
for
people
right
now,
I'm,
proud
of
the
city
staff.
We've
been
working
tirelessly
non-stop
since
last
Friday
night
to
respond
to
the
needs
of
the
community
and,
as
many
of
them
tell
me,
they
are
part
of
those
communities
they
belong
in.
This
community
live
here,
they're
committed
and
dedicated
every
department
of
service
that
you
see
represented
this
front
table
hasn't
involved
every
group.
B
Every
everybody
had
somebody
engaged
in
this
response.
I
want
to
end
by
thanking
our
dedicated
staff
and
acknowledge
how
much
they
care
about
their
community
and
how
much
commitment
they
bring
to
the
job.
Our
emergency
management,
team
and
I
think
he
had
to
leave
led
by
Pierre.
Pori
have
been
remarkable
in
dealing
with
multiple
competing
priorities.
As
you
can
imagine,
the
power
outage
really
complicated
things.
170,000
people
without
power
really
complicated
our
response.
It
was
a
very
unique
situation
for
us.
B
I
can't
recall
having
that
kind
of
an
incident
to
deal
with
before
and
just
anticipating
and
mobilizing
the
resources
needed
by
the
community
was
an
incredible
logistical
task
and
the
brains
of
the
operation
are
in
that
little
room
down
at
the
other
end
of
the
building,
where
we
coordinate
basically
every
service,
that's
delivered
in
the
community
and
received
thousands
of
requests
to
respond.
Our
Public
Information,
a
media
relations
team,
yes,
communications
when
we
lose
power,
is
a
very
difficult
thing.
My
cell
phone
on
Friday
night
was
not
working.
B
I
couldn't
get
a
signal
I
had
to
leave
my
house
and
drive
into
town
till
I
found
a
couple
bars,
so
I
could
communicate
with
her

Brice
is
here:
I

to

him.
B
He
was
an
incredible
partner.
He
kept
in
us
informed
what
phone
would
respond
to
everything
we
needed.
It
was
actually
a
miraculous
what
they
did
over
this
weekend.
I've,
never
seen
that
before
I,
don't
think
I
think
this
is
I'm.
Gonna
nominate,
Brice
for
key
to
the
city.
At
one
point,
mr.
mayor,
the
province
of
Ontario
premier,
Ford's
visit
Minister,
McLeod,
Minister,
full
of
$10.00
area
MVPs
and
all
the
other
dignitaries
that
have
come,
but
especially
the
province
has
been
in
contact
with
us
regularly
asking.
How
can
they
help?
B
What
can
we
do
for
you
and
they're
being
very
sincere
about
it,
we're
creating
a
list
of
things
and
we're
going
to
ask
them
to
help
us
with
and
so
far
the
things
we've
asked
for.
They've
been
supportive
and
immediately
have
given
it
to
us.
The
volunteers
have
been
amazing
and
generous
with
their
time,
expertise
in
and
donations,
Red
Cross
Salvation,
Army,
nonprofits,
community
health
and
resource
centers,
Ottawa
food
banks
and
local
food
banks.
B
As
a
mayor
said,
incredible
partnerships
and
they
come
through
every
time
to
help
feed
people
and
deal
with
all
the
other
issues
that
a
councillors
were
dealing
with
in
their
communities.
When
people
didn't
have
power
and
were
struggling
to
get
warm
food
and
to
deal
with
things
and
finally-
and
if
this
is
a
very
important
point-
and
you
often
don't
get
thanked
and
I'm
very
sincere
about
this-
I
want
to
thank
the
mayor
and
councillors
we're
in
that
room.
We're
trying
to
get
information
from
the
field
from
her
from
our
command
post.
B
We
have
a
decentralized
response
and
it
all
centers
back
to
the
Emergency
Operations
Center.
The
only
way
we
get
what's
really
happening
on
the
ground
is
why
the
counselors,
who
are
calling
in
and
giving
us
information
about
what
they're
hearing?
What
are
the
emerging
needs?
What
are
the
immediate
needs?
They
they
need
to
have
and
communicating
our
messages
out
to
the
community,
and
that
was
the
most
helpful
thing
that
our
councils
were
able
to
tell
people
what
was
going
on
and
supplement
our
communications
efforts
in
a
huge
way.
B
It's
critical
to
our
success
and
sometimes
yeah
we're
a
little
cranky
on
the
phone
and
they're
a
little
cranky
and
the
other
end.
But
the
the
fact
is
that
information
is
invaluable
to
our
ability
to
prioritize
a
thousands
of
requests
that
come
in
and
I
want
to.
Thank
all
of
you,
mr.
mayor
and
all
of
your
council,
for
the
support
you've,
given
the
staff
and
the
feedback
you've
given
us,
so
that
we're
able
to
respond
to
your
needs.
Thank
you
very
much.
Thank.
A
To
make
sure
we
got
as
much
information
out
to
the
public
and
will
have
an
opportunity
to
do
a
review
and
and
how
we
can
you
know
see
if
we
see
what
areas
need
some
work,
but
I
think
your
assessment
of
this
being
a
great
example
of
everyone
pulling
together
as
part
of
one
team
breaking
down
the
silos
and
just
getting
to
the
to
solve
the
problems
hour
by
hour.
So
thank
you,

We
just
have
a
carry

number
five,
which
is
the
council,
approved
the
addition
of
12
full-time
equivalent
to
the
building
code
service
in
a
scheme
of
what's
happening
with
the

Is
that
number
is
gonna,
be
sufficient
or
I'm?
Not
I
know
it's
too
early

So.
M
Mr.
mayor
I'll
try
to
be
brief,
but
just
to
explain
this
is
an
extraordinary
situation
and
in
this
extraordinary
situation
we
are
taking
staff
off
of
day
responsibilities
to
focus
on
emergency
response
on
Monday
I
emailed
every
major
builder
in
this
city
and
asked
them
for
their
patience,
because
their
permits
will
not
be
processed
as
quickly
as
they
would
otherwise
do,
because
our
our
focus
on
the
emergency
response
and
I
do
ask
the
general
public
individual
people
who
have
not
in
affected
areas
who
are
just
doing
home
renovations
to
be
patient
with
us.

It's

to

on
October

I've
had
a

of
conversations

and

harder.
This
is
a
change
in
the
typology
that
council
should
be
weighing
in
on.
Therefore,
next
week,
I'll
be
bringing
forward
the
motion
that
you

on
the

before
you.
That
would
put
a
