Description
Philadelphia City Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown (At Large) makes remarks about Planned Parenthood during the Stated Meeting of City Council held on October 1, 2015.
A
Popular
lastly,
mr.
president
I
joined
the
many
who
were
struck
this
week
with
the
Congressional
hearings
on
Planned
Parenthood.
Now
for
the
record,
Planned
Parenthood
is
an
organization
as
98
years
old,
just
didn't,
show
up,
and
it's
the
nation's
leading
provider
of
high
quality,
affordable
health
care
not
just
for
women,
but
for
men
and
young
people,
and
it's
the
nation's
leading
provider
of
sex
education.
Now
I
was
pleased
to
watch
the
president
susilo
Richards,
who
was
not
at
all
rattled
by
the
curveball
questionings
and,
quite
frankly,
the
misleading
non-factual
false
data.
A
She
was
professional,
intelligent
poised
and
she
came
armed
with
the
facts
and
we
know
when
you
had
the
facts.
They
tend
to
be
the
game,
changer
and
debates
for
all
the
hoopla
and
the
distractions
presented
by
a
few
of
the
congressional
members
who
want
to
make
Planned
Parenthood
was
it's
not.
Here
are
a
few
of
the
facts
that
are
compelling
in
this
debate
number
one.
According
to
USA
Today,
two-thirds
of
those
surveyed.
Sixty-Five
percent
say
that
funding
should
continue
from
this
ninety
eight
year
old
group,
sixty-five
percent
twenty-nine
percent
say
it
should
be
cut
off.
A
But
the
fact
that's
more
compelling
for
me
is
that
when
you
look
at
the
totality
of
the
services,
they
provide
only
three
percent
go
towards
abortion
services.
Three
percent
of
their
budget,
eleven
percent
goes
towards
wit,
services,
family
practice,
services
for
families
and
men
and
women
who
are
not
able
to
afford
those
services.
So
too
often,
when
we
hear
the
debate
and
to
those
who
think
planned,
parenthood
is
a
non
stop.
Abortion
shock
I
would
advise
them
to
do
what
we
all
need
to
do
and
what
congressional
members
need
to
do
check
their
source.
