Next week, Philadelphia's City Council members will step out of council chambers to lead a day-long conference to benefit the community. The conference is designed to give those with dreams of becoming an entrepreneur, the knowledge and tools to take those dreams to the next level. City Council, President, Darrell Clarke, joins us this morning to talk about the how to make it in America economic empowerment conference and what we're going to find out for this year coming up. So last year's conference big success what's new this year, what's the same from last year, well,.

We've moved the location because we actually ran out of space on the first conference. We did it at CCP. This year's one of the at the convention center we've learned from some of the things that we need to improve on. So we've expanded the list of quote-unquote entrepreneurs that we'll be giving the presentations quite excited about that.

One of the things that we've done this year is that we will probably have around 150 to 200 schoolchildren, juniors and seniors Wow, get an early store at high school, get an early start in determining whether or not you would like to get into business. So we expect a full complement of individuals that will come and talk about the opportunities that are presented.

I like to talk about the fact that the things have changed I mean in the old days back when I was coming up to your parents, hole you go to school, you know, get a good job retire, get a pension based on a global economy and the enhancement of technology. Things have changed so no longer can you have a secure future? If you take that track? Sometimes you end up working in a job that you hate that is clearly below your skill set.

So we say if you have an idea, if you have an interest in doing something different come to the conference, talk about starting your own business, where you can actually be the boss and you can actually and will have people there. That will really be really be in a position to give you some really good advice. Tell.

Us about some of the entrepreneurs who are participating at presenting and obviously have touched on, high schoolers, who will be coming. Who else are you targeting to a tempest conference? Well,.

You know my staff says we need to target the Millennials, so we're doing that too, but if some of the older people want to come come the reality is, is that people have found themselves to be in a position where they may want to change their direction in life, to create a sustaining lifestyle for them and their families and I think this is a golden opportunity. We will have people there that will be able to talk about hospitality, retail, to talk about restaurants, of.

Hire tech is like clearly the most sustainable opportunity out there and we actually have people talking about real estate opportunities. The city of Philadelphia I think we have probably 15 16 cranes up at this point in time, because it is a virgin market. So those individuals are individuals that actually made it people that, at some point in their life, made the decision that I'm going to start a business or I'm going to enhance my business, and these individuals will be there to talk about the nuances. Well, also, what I have people from the government?

Because, as you know, the bureaucracy of government could be.

Similar challenging so.

We're gonna have people to talk to you about how you work your way. Through the process, we will have people to talk about access to capital. The start outs require capital, so they'll be there to talk about the possibilities and the opportunities so I'm I'm excited all.
