A
B
A
homestead
exemption
is
an
opportunity,
for
you
can
actually
reduce
your
possible
taxes
and
you
receive
from
the
city.
The
homestead
exemption
currently
is
at
what's
thirty
thousand
dollars.
When
we
had
a
city
council
of
the
session,
we
increased
it
to
forty
thousand
dollars
and
then
that's
the
real
money
that
can
impact
your
ability
to
take
home
dollars
in
your
home.
B
So
when
you
have
a
house
that
value
at
a
hundred
thousand
dollars,
now
you,
if
you
plop
in
a
homestead
exemption,
that's
forty
thousand
dollars
off
your
property
value,
which
brings
me
down
to
sixty
thousand
dollars,
and
so
you're
only
be
taxed
and
sixty
thousand
dollars.
If
your
house
was
valued
at
$100,000,
but.
B
You
have
to
apply,
and
unfortunately,
there
are
30%
of
the
eligible
people
in
the
city
of
Philadelphia
have
not
applied
for
the
homestead
exemption.
So
that's
why
it's
so
important
to
get
the
word
out.
Let
people
know
you
can
apply
for
a
homestead
exemption,
especially
considering
this
whole
property,
except
an
assessment
issue
that
life
you
have
raised
this
past
spring
and.
A
Addition
to
that,
let's
talk
a
little
bit
about
some
of
the
things
that
will
be
happening
over
the
summer
months
with
the
school
district
in
terms
of
lead
remediation.
You
say
this
is
really
important:
I'm,
not
just
for
the
the
health
of
the
children
that
attend
school
in
Philadelphia,
but
for
the
workers
and
the
teachers
in
these
buildings
as
well.
Absolutely.
B
Governor
wolf
just
recently
announced
about
7.6
million
dollars
from
the
Commonwealth
to
go
to
the
school
district
to
deal
with
LED
remediation
at
40
schools
throughout
the
city
of
Philadelphia.
In
addition,
the
school
district
is
adding
another
I
believe
eight
million
dollars
to
that
so
they're
going
to
focus
on
40
40
schools
throughout
the
city
of
Philadelphia,
in
the
school
district
and
as
much
remediation
done
before
all
this
27th.
When
the
kids
come
back
to
school
and.
B
What
is
it
very
important
issue
for
me
personally?
I
have
a
son,
that's
in
the
school
district,
in
fact
my
mother
taught
in
the
school
district
for
about
31
years
and
it's
an
issue
that
I've
been
really
focused
on
when
I
first
got
in
City
Council
when
I
first
got
in
the
city
council
and
there
we
had
hearings
about
issues
about
the
physical
environment
of
schools
and
impacts,
not
just
students,
teachers,
but
people
that
work
in
the
schools
and
so
I've
been
working
with
Penn
environment
and
filip
Federation
teachers.
A
B
Addition
to
that
point,
what
we're
trying
to
do
is
trying
to
provide
Ischl
dollars
to
the
school
district
and
kind
of
leverage,
some
more
capital
dollars
to
help
them
address
issues,
not
just
let
and
asbestos.
But
you
know
our
schools
are
very
old,
and
so
we
can
increase
the
rideshare
about
that
50
cents
that
can
leverage
possibly
up
to
maybe
a
hundred
million
dollars
in
capital
dollars
for
the
school
district.
So
we
can
really
affect
and
impact
our
aging
school
buildings
thanks.
