City Council President Darrell L. Clarke (5th District) and Sheriff Jewell Williams have come together on an imitative to ensure that every gun in the City of Philadelphia is stored safely, either in a lock-box or with a trigger locking mechanism. The goals are to keep guns out of the hands of children and to reduce overall instances of gun violence.

10,000
Americans
are
the
victims
of
gun
violence
in
the
city
of
Philadelphia.
We
want
to
stem
the
tide
of
gun
violence.
We
are
working
on
the
initiative,
along
with
the
sheriff's
department,
to
ensure
that
every
gun
in
the
city
of
Philadelphia
is
placed
in
a
safe
environment,
either
in
a
lock
box
or
a
trigger
lock.
It's
placed
on
that
gun.
Nothing
is
more
tragic
than
a
young
person
getting
access
to
a
weapon,
unfortunately,
not
only
in
the
city
of
Philadelphia,
but
across
the
nation.
This
is
happening
far
too
many
time.
