Councilman Derek Green (At Large) reminds Philadelphians who own and live in their own properties to apply for the Homestead Exemption to reduce the taxable portion of their homes' assessment by up to 30%.

residence
you're
eligible
for
significant
real
estate
tax
savings
under
the
homestead
exemption
program,
the
homestead
exemption
reduces
the
taxable
portion
of
your
homes
assessment

$30,000,
regardless
of
your
age
or
income,
and
maybe
more
in
the
future
once
approved.
The
exemption
remains
on
your
property
each
year,

or
