update
for
region
Network
for
August
14th
I've
got
some
exciting
updates
for
everyone
in
the
community.
It's
been
a
couple
weeks
since
my
last
update
I
am
now
living
in
Denver.
That's
where
I'm
calling
in
from
and
I've
got
a
few
things
I
want
to
share
with
you
and
I've
got
a
special
guest
I
want
to
call
them
pull
into
the
call.
First
of
all,
we're
running
our
incentivised
test
net
on
the
for
a
regen
ledger.
A
Right
now
we
have
35
validators
that
are
working
on
their
test
net
and
contributing
to
making
sure
that
proposals
work
well
and
updating
the
code
and
all
that
it
takes.
If
there's
a
if
there
are
any
volunteers
out
there.
That
would
like
to
join
that
make
sure
to
hit
us
up
on

and
we
can
get
you
rolled
in
we'd
love
to
have
you
join
another
big
news
from
the
fundraising
front.

techstars,

sustainability
program
with
the
Nature
Conservancy,
and
so
at
this
point,
I'd
love
to
invite
in
August
Ritter,
who
is
helping,
coordinate
this
program,
he's
the
text
Nature
Conservancy
program
manager
that
interfaces
with
tech
stars.
You
know
our
team
is
getting
a
lot
out
of
this
program.
It's
something
just
being
three
weeks
in
now.
I
can't
even
imagine
where
we'll
be
at
14
weeks,
but
just
just
for
everyone
on
this
call.

Certainly
so,
maybe
just
for
folks
who
may
not
know
in
the
Nature
Conservancy's
one
largest
conservation
organizations
in
the
world,
we're
really
set
on
trying
to
tackle
some
of
the
biggest
problems
that
are
facing.
You
know,
Humanity
in
nature,
I
mean
the
21st
sentry,
and
so,
as
we
look
at
those
problems,
we
kind
of
recognize
that
we
need
a
shift
in
mindset.

We
need
to
really
think
about
the
solutions
that
we
bring
forward
to
the
global
community
and
how
scalable
those
solutions
are
right
and,
as
we
kind
of
look
around
at
other
industries,
we
recognize
that
we're
not
seeing
the
level
of
technological
disruption
or
technological
advancement
in
conservation
that
you're,
seeing
in
so
many
other
industries.
It's
just
frankly
flipping
these
other
industries
upside
down.
So
TNC
has
asked
ourselves.
You
know
as
one
little
world's
largest
contour
conservation
organisations
do.
We
have
a
responsibility
in
helping
cultivate
and
catalyze
more
technology
development
for
conservation.

So
that's
what
this
accelerator
is
all
about.
Its
partnership
with
techstars
figured
out.
How
do
we
find
the
best
entrepreneurs
sort
of
building
technology
to
solve
the
same
problems
we
care
about?
And
how
do
we
work
with
those
entrepreneurs
to
solve
those
problems?
So
that's
really
kind
of
the
perspective
we
come
at
this
in.

my

I'm,
not
the
expert
on
the
Nature
Conservancy,
but
I
understand
that
over
the
years
they
have
been
pretty
flexible
in
terms
of
shifting
their
strategy
like
from
what
I
understand,
nature
conservancy
arted
out
as
an
organization
that
raised
money
to
be
just
a
basically
purchased
land
and
then
just
put
it
into
conservation.

So
that
I
think
we
have
gone
through
several
kind
of
iterations
right
since
our
founding
in
1951,
and
you
can
see
these
kind
of
moments,
these
pivotal
moments
throughout
our
history,
where
we've
asked
ourselves,
you
know
what's
the
highest
and
best
use
of
our
team
and
we
have
shifted
a
bit
and
so
right
now.
You
know
we're
really
focusing
on
these.
These
global
environmental
problems
and
we're
working
with
corporations
or
working
with
governments.
Now
we're
working
with
technology
entrepreneurs
to
bring
solutions
to
the
forefront,
yeah.

Awesome
I
mean
this
makes
so
much
sense.
There's
been
so
much
technological
innovation
in
the
last
10
years.
You
know
whether
it's
remote
sensing
technology
blockchain
solutions
for
trust
and
transparency.
We
have
10
companies
here
that
are
each
bringing
really
incredible
solutions
so
kudos
to
the
Nature
Conservancy
for
jumping
onboard
I
hope
we
can
10x
in
fact
well.

Implementing
their
solutions
at
scale,
solving
and
critical
pain
points,
if
you
will,
at
a
level
that's
meaningful,
but
but
frankly,
one
of
the
objectives
here
is
much
bigger
than
just
these
10
companies
with
companies.
From
last
year,
it's
wrinkly
about
inspiring
the
next
generation
of
technologists
entrepreneurs.

You
know
one
of
my
favorite
quotes
comes
from
one
of
Facebook's
early
employees
who
said
that
the
best
minds
of
my
generation
are
focused
on
making
people
click
ads
right.
We
need
more
technologists
that
are
actually
using
their
talents,
their
skills,
their
resources
to
solve
problems
that
matter,
and
so
we're
hoping
that
you
know
through
this
accelerator
through
kind
of
promoting
these
examples
of
people
like
yourselves,
that
are
building
companies
that
solve
problems
and
matter,
you're
kind
of
paving
the
way
for
the
next
generation
right.

that
I
love,
it
I
think
there's
a
lot
a
lot
to
the
next
generation.
The
way
that
they're
thinking
the
way
that
their
approach
to
the
world,
the
way
that
their
values
are
aligned
with
the
way
that
they're
spending
money,
yeah
I'm,
excited
to
see
what
unfolds
in
our
lifetimes
yeah.
What's
in
front
of
us,
so
I
keep
hearing
that
it's
harder
to
get
into
tech
stars
than
it
is
to
get
into
Harvard.
You
know
it
was
a
huge
honor
for
a
region
Network
to
get
accepted
into
this
program.

Trying
to
build
the
business
case
for
ecosystem
service
right
so
trying
to
convince
governments
and
companies
on
that
they
should
be
investing
in
nature
and
as
a
solution
to
the
problems
that
were
that
we're
facing
right
right
and
then
the
good
news
is
we've
seen
government's.
We've
seen.
Corporations
come
around
to
this
recognition
that
ecosystem
services
are
important,
maybe
not
so
much
because
of
our
phenomenal
messaging
I.
Think
it's
more
so
due
to
the
fact
that
they've
seen
as
these
ecosystems
have
been
degraded
so
have
these
critical
services
that
then
provided.

To
people
by
you
know
for
free
from
by
nature,
and
so
you
know,
we've
seen
our
you
know,
partners
whether
they're
in
kind
of
banking
sector,
or
you
know
fortune
500
companies
or
other
NGOs
that
have
been
interested
in
figuring
out
ways
to
invest
in
come.
The
land
managers
that
are
that
are
managing
the
land
that
produced
these
ecosystem
services
and
really
trying
to
figure
out
how
to
incentivize
those
land
managers.
We've
seen
them
struggle
right.

Doing
that
and
they've
struggled
because
it's
really
difficult
to
kind
of
you
know
manage
relationships
at
scale
with
a
big
of
land
managers.
We've
seen
it's
difficult
to
kind
of
contract
with
all
of
these
different
land
managers,
and
then
we've
seen
that
it's
difficult
to
kind
of,
monitor
and
verify
in
a
cost-effective
basis
with
what
you
want
to
happen.
What
you're
paying
for
to
happen
is
actually
happening
on
the
ground
right
and
so
along
comes
region
network
to
building
a
platform
to
help
kind
of
decrease.
