the

crux
of
what
we
do
as
a
regen
started
from
our
perspective,
working
with
farmers
and
being
farmers,
and
we
wanted
to
root
this
presentation
in
the
reality
of
what's
happening
in
our
agriculture
and
food
system.

We're
experiencing
a
global
carbon
atmospheric
carbon
spike,
we're
having
catastrophic
losses
of
biodiversity
across
the
entire
globe
and
across
all
ecosystems,
and
we're
seeing
these
increases
in
weather
patterns
that
are
affecting
ranchers
and
farmers.
As
well
as
our
coastlines
and
our
communities
in
general,
so
we
feel
right
now
that
farmers,
foresters,
conservationist
ranchers,
are
not
adequately
incentivized
for
the
ecological
stewardship
and
the
ecological
outcomes
that
come
from
that
stewardship
in
the
current
marketplace.

And
right
now,
we
feel,
like
the
existing
kit
is
expensive.
It's
very
hard
to
manage
a
project
on
the
existing
markets.
The
process
of
the
existing
markets
is
very
inefficient.
It
takes
a
lot
of
time
and
involves
a
lot
of
people.
It
involves
a
lot
of
documents
and
that
there's
a
lack
of
transparency
into
actual
farm
and
ecological
outcome
data
and
the
current
carbon
credit
marketplace.

So
the
benefits
that
we're
looking
to
address
or
the
problems
that
we're
trying
to
address
first
of
all,
lower
the
overall
costs,
we've
heard
time
and
again
that
the
existing
carbon
markets
are
too
expensive
for
the
typical
land
steward
out.
There
numbers
vary
significantly,
but
could
be.
You
know
over
a
hundred
thousand
dollars
for
a
project
that
really
depends
also
on
the
size,
but
certainly
not
something
that
is
palatable
or
or
or
applicable,
to
most
land
swords.

other
thing
is
reducing
time
to
market
so,
for
instance,
in
new
south
wales
there's
or
in
australia.
There's
a
registry
sponsored
by
the
government
called
the
emission
reduction
fund.
It
takes
literally
six
months
to
register
a
project.
We
know
that
your
time
is
super
important
and
we
try
to
respect
that
and
really
streamline
the
process.

is
certainly,
I
think,
a
high
bar
that
we
don't
necessarily
see
in
other
registries
out
there,
enabling
you
know
every
buyer,
essentially
to
really
dig
into
the
details
and
understand
how
the
monitoring
was
done,
how
the
baseline
was
measuring
the
carbon
et
cetera
trust.
So
we
have
a
similar
process
to
existing
registries,
where
we
have
a
peer
review
process
that
the
methodologies
and
the
credit
classes
will
go
through.

that's
that's
important
aspects
of
building
trust
and
then
we'll
showcase
this
in
the
next
few
slides.
But
it's
really
important
for
us
to
really
highlight
the
story
here
of
the
land
and
the
ecological
impacts,
and
to
that
end
we
really
created
a
project
page
that
is
focused
on
telling
the
story
of
the
farmer
or
the
rancher
and
and
not
just
abstracting
it
out
to
a
number
of
co2
equivalent
go
ahead.

My
dad,
so
the
goal
of
redone
network
is
to
accelerate
a
new
market
that
realigns
economic
health
with
ecological
well-being
by
providing
a
way
to
track,
verify
and
reward
regenerative
agriculture
and
conservation
at
scale.
So
this
is
ultimately
the
goal
that
we
set
forth
and
the
reason
why
we
have
developed
the
regen
registry
and
the
carbon
plus
credits,
it's
to
align
economics
and
ecology
effectively
in
a
way
that
allows
land
stewards
to
be
rewarded
for
their
good
decision-making.

Like
I
said
it's,
it's
sort
of
a
a
strong
focus
for
us
to
include
the
overall
social
and
ecological
benefits
that
the
work
is
doing
beyond
just
carbon
sequestration
and
then,
ultimately,
we
want

mostly
kept
in
your
pocket.

existing
markets
are
quite
complicated
to
put
it
lightly
and
it
ended
up
creating
this
whole
industry
of
project
developers
and
consultants,

typically
the
actual
money
left

pocket
of
the
land
steward
is
quite
slim.

monitor
soil
changes
so

you
as
ranchers,
can
get
a
sense

quantify

stock
changes
on
a
property
and
then,
in
the
case
of
your
ranch?
What
might
that
mean
for
you?

ranch
is
about,
I
think
you

hectares

ranch
that
is
2000
hectares,
we
require
a
limited
series
of
soil
samples,
because
what
we're
ultimately
doing
is
taking

20
soil
samples
for
2,
000
hectare
properties
and
we
are
taking
the
results
from
their
soil
samples
and
calibrating
them
to
the
satellites,
and
so
this
map,
that's
on
the
right
hand.

do
is
take
these
soil
sample
results
from
your
traditional
university
laboratory,
and
we
utilize
them
to
use
machine
learning

out
what

traditional
project
development
is
done

the
carbon
credit
market

require

project

project
registration
is
fairly
straightforward.
We
ask
lanswords
initially
to
fill
up
a
simple
intake
form.
It
shouldn't
take
you
more
than
a
few
minutes
just
to
get
a
better
sense
of
the
land
and
what
you're
working
on
and
the
fit
to
our
credit,
assuming
there's
a
fit.
The
next
stage
would
be
sorry
for
the
background
noise
street
cleaning.
The
next
stage
would
be
filling
out
a
project
plan
and
there's
a
fair
set
of
questions
there.

ultimately,
I,
if
not
in
one
sitting,
probably
you-
can
complete
it
in
two
and
shouldn't
take
more
than
a
couple
hours
maximum
once

is
submitted,
we
review
it.
If
everything
is
in
order,

we
sign

contract

we,
the
project
begins.
The
next
step
position
is
essentially
conducting
the
monitoring
so
creating
the
baseline
and
there's
a
schedule
stipulated
in
both
the
program
guide
and
the
credit
class
around
verifications.

Generally,
the
credits
are
certainly
in
the
case
of
carbon
plus
grasslands
or
what's
called
exposed,
meaning
they're
issued
after
the
verification
is
done,
of
the
actual
verification
that
is
of
the
actual
carbon
sequestration,
and

ownership
is
tracked
initially
on
our
registry
software,
that
is,
for
those
techies
out.
There
is
centralized,
but
in
a
few
months,
when
we
launch
our
blockchain,
then
it
will
be
tracked
also
on
the
decentralized
blockchain
side,
the
monitoring
and
the
verification.

So
during
the
project
and
the
crediting
term
varies
between
different
credit
classes.
In
this
case
it
will
be
10
years
and
we
require
six
monitoring
rounds
and
those
monitoring
rounds,
as
sarah
mentioned,
are
conducted
using
a
minimal
amount
of
soil
samples
collected
on
the
ground
which
are
coupled
with
remote
sensing
analysis
and
the
verification
is
needed,
as
mentioned
only
if
there's
a
very
significant,
I
might
say
almost
abnormal
sequestration
rate
that
we
just
want
to
provide
additional
assurances
to
buyers.

in
this
case
is
connected
from
collected
from
sentinel
and
the
soil
samples
collected
on
the
ground.

future.
We
will

to
leverage
whatever
technology
is
available
out
there
to
really
cut
costs,
including
iot,

ecosystem
is
a
whole

need

monitor

acknowledge

what's

credit

need
carbon

they're
dealing
with
their
greenhouse
gas

we
feel
it's

very
narrow
lens

just
look
at
carbon.

want

look
at
the
entire
ecological
interactions

property

be

say
these

what

monitor

modern

quantify

ecological
benefits

going
to
couple

carbon
plus
credits
are

design

center,

it's
what
carbon
credit
buyers
need,

ecological
indicators

first

plus
credit
is
focused
on
carbon
sequestration
in
the
soil
and
then
it
the
ecological
co-benefits
that
we
showed
you
on
the
project
page
we're
looking
at
ecosystem
health.
We
were
using

australian
national
animal
welfare
guidelines
and
then
we
utilized
the
soil
sample
results
to
create
determinants
of
soil
health
indicators.

in
our
case,
we
issued
our
first
vintage
to
wilmot
farm
in
new
south
wales
that
you
saw
on
the
project
page
and,
in
their
case,
they're
a
really
like
gold,
star
great
example
of
what
a
rancher
can
do.
They've
increased

soil,
organic
carbon
percentage
on
their
property
to
4.5,
which
is
a
relatively
high
soil,
organic
carbon
percentage
for
a
rotational
grazing
project,
and
we
are
now
issuing
the
largest
vintage
of
carbon
credits
related
to
an
agriculture
project
in
australia
for
wilmot's
farm.

registry
invites
other
individuals
to
join
us

this
journey
of
saying
what
should
ecologically
focused
agriculturally
driven
carbon
credits
look
like,
and
we
believe
that
we're
not
the
only
you
know,
organization
that
can
design

credits

and
ecology.

want
to
invite
a
community
of
carbon
credit
designers
to
join
us
and
to
figure
out
how
to
measure

monitor

package
together
ecological
outcomes

marketplace

companies

comfortable

good

put
together

credit

methodology
and
there's
different
ways
to
do
that.

peer
review

incorporating
that
feedback
making
upgrades

everything

issues

publishing

honest

sequestered
on
a
property,
the
higher
number
of
credits
can
issued
and
the
more
likely
that
it
is
a
financially
positive
situation
for
a
farmer
to
do
a
carbon
credit
project.

good
example
I
can
give
is
15
credit
price
one
and
a
half
percent
carbon
sequestration
free
per
year
over
the
10
year
time
period
and
2000
hectare.
In
that
case,
the
net
income
that
a
farmer
could
earn
is
about
200
to
250
000
over
the
life
of
that
project,
and
we
have
for
those
who
are
interested
in
the
economic
outcomes
of
this.
We
do
have
some
project
performas
that
show
the
inputs
and
outputs
of
the
process
that
we
can
share
after
this.

I
can
add
sarah
kind
of
jumped
right
into
the
financial
aspects
which
you
will
not
hear
from
any
other
registry.
If
you
speak
with
vera,
for
instance,
they
just
are
not
aware
of
the
cost,
because
that's
not
their
focus,
they're
just
managing
the
program
and
the
cost
can
be
quite
substantial
from
a
technical
standpoint.

And
so
we
we've
done
our
best
to
create
a
performer.
That
will
inform
that,
taking
into
account
the
monitoring
and
the
verification
and
the
overall
costs
of
running
a
project,
and
this
is
sort
of
our
first
attempt.
You
know
dipping
our
toes
in
the
water
here
and
and
hopefully
reducing
the
cost
significantly
and
and
other
credits
we.

might
continue
to
innovate
and
see
how
we
can
reduce
the
costs
even
further
and
then
the
last
comment
I
would
make
we
do
support
for
those
of
you
who
have
smaller
projects
or
smaller
farms
or
ranches
to
create,
what's
called
an
aggregate
project.
So
you
apply
with
multiple
of
your
let's
say:
neighbors
and
so
long
as
it's
in
the
same
bio
region.
We
can
register
one
aggregate
project
and
obviously
that
creates
economies
of
scale
and
and
enables.

You
very
well
answered
so
on
a
couple:
I'm
going
to
tie
these
two
questions
together.
What
happens
if
a
farmer
rancher
changes
management
practices
during
the
10-year
methodology,
definition
period,
question
and
then
somewhat
related,
but
maybe
you
could
just
tag
on
what
happens
with
fire,
something
how
might
carbon
credits
work
in
landscapes
affected
by
fire,
either
historically
prevalent
fire
regimes
or
larger,
more
catastrophic
fires,
exacerbated
by
fire
suppression
and
climate
change.
So
I
think
both
of
those
kind
of
beg,
a
question
of
what
happens.

I
could
take
that
so
we
require
that
the
land
management
activities
be
approved,
as
stipulated
in
the
credit
class
or
in
the
program
guide,
and
our
hope
is
you
know
that
will
continue
throughout
the
crediting
term.
But
you
know
realities
can
be
different
and
we
acknowledge
that
we
basically
monitor
the
outcome.
I
should
say-
and
not
the
practice
in
this
case,
and
so
you
are
free
to
change
your
practice
that
you
know
hopefully
will
not
have
a
negative
impact
on
the
ground.

So
the
contract
certainly
stipulates
that
you
cannot
do
take
on
activities
that
are
directly
going
to
reverse
any
carbon
sequestration,
but
with
that
said,
any
other
activity,
it's
your
prerogative
and
you're
able
to
manage
it
and
we're
measuring
the
outcomes.
So,
ultimately
we
care
less
about
the
day-to-day.
How
you
know
the
the
cows
are
shifting
between
the
paddocks,
for
instance,
now
regarding
fires,
we'll
have
to
to
be
honest,
see
how
that
evolves.
The
property
in
wilmette
actually
has
not
surprisingly
gone
through
fires.
C
Recently,
it
did
not
affect
our
ability
to
measure
using
sentinel
2
imagery.
We
do
try
to
conduct
the
monitoring
in
the
same
exact
timing
in
the
seasons
where
the
soil
is
more
bare
and
we
can
get
more
reflections
if,
in
that
exact
timing,
there
you
know
are
fires.
We
might
need
to
adjust
the
monitoring
timing,
and
so
we
kind
of
will
have
to
be
a
little
bit
more
pragmatic
and
if,
in
one
year
you
know,
there's
fires,
then
we
skip
that
year
and
do
it
in
the
following
year.

Ultimately,
we're
measuring
the
change
so
the
the
we
we
certainly
understand,
there's
natural
fluctuations
in
carbon-
and
this
could
be
whether
there
is
fires
or
or
without
fires,
and
the
the
ability
of
nature
to
recover
and
be
resilient
is
taken
into
account
here
and
and
over
the
crediting
term.
Our
hope
is
that
that
and
any
potential
loss
will
be
reversed
in
subsequent
years.

One
of
the
future
project
or
methodology
upgrades
we're
planning
on
doing
is
also
doing
what's
called
dynamic
baseline,
which
will
actually
take
into
account
any
such
reversals
based
on
fires
and
droughts,
extreme
weather
patterns.
Essentially
so
the
landscape
is
not
penalized,
essentially
for
no
fault
of
theirs.

First
of
all,
in
the
methodology
itself,
there
is
a
quantification
of
the
uncertainty
and
based
on
the
that
quantification,
a
deduction
is
made
in
the
estimation
of
the
carbon
stock.
So
we
try
to
be
really
conservative
so
just
to
go
a
little
bit
more
into
the
details.
The
correlations
between
the
soil,
organic
carbon
percentage
in
the
soil
samples
and
the
remote
sensing.
We
hope
that
it's
above
80
percent,
but
if
it's
below
that,
then
we
essentially
take
a
discount
that
we
apply
to
the
carbon
stock.

So
that's
one
thing
related
to
the
uncertainty
estimation,
but
ultimately
we
get
a
number-
let's
say:
10
000
credits
for
a
certain
monitoring
round.
We
take
20
of
that
and
we
put
it
into
a
buffer
pool
that
buffer
pool
is
intended
exactly
to
accommodate
any
changes
in
whether
it's
from
fires,
droughts,
management,
financial,
all
of
the
risks
entailed
with
you
know,
running
a
project
over.
You
know
the
duration
of
the
crediting
term,
and
this
is
standard
practice
in
all
registries
and
we
followed
suit
with
that.

That
is
why
we
have
the
dedicated
permanence
reversal
buffer,
which
is
that
additional
five
percent
at
the
end
of
the
permanence
period,
which
is
25
years,
we
do
a
another
monitoring
round
and
based
on
the
monitoring
round.
We
reconcile
the
any
changes
in
the
in
the
carbon
and
if
there
are
any
deductions
or
reversals,
then
we
we
take
them
off
from
the
reversal
buffer
with
the
buffer
pool.
The
same
happens
at
the
end
of
the
project,
so
20
is
allocated
to
the
buffer
pool.

As
I
mentioned
at
the
end
of
the
crediting
term,
we
reconcile
we
do
an
end
of
project
measurement.
If
there
has
been,
unfortunately
a
deduction,
a
reversal
of
the
carbon
below
the
last
recorded
carbon
stock
level,
then
we
use
that
buffer
pool
to
account
for
that
and
we
retire
credits
from
the
buffer
pool.
So
that
way,
you're
not
penalized
and
the
buyer
can
get
assurance
that
what
was
actually
issued
is
indeed
legitimate.

there
was
a
there's,
a
couple
of
questions
related
to
if
you're
operating
on
partially
leased
land
do
you
need
to
access
agreements
with
a
landowner
and
then
similarly
does
this
have
to
be
only
on
deeded
land

can
it
include
lease
land
or
does
that
depend
on
the
individual
lessor?
Just
any
quick
response
to
that.

Yeah,
maybe
I'll
take
this
one
if
you're
leasing
land
and
you
do
not
own
it.
This
process
would
require
some
type
of
written
approval
from
the
landowner.
Leasing
does
not
prohibit
somebody
from
being
paid
for
the
benefits
of
their
land
management
practices,
but
the
landowner
has
to
be
aware
of
giving
away
those
rights
to
the
person
running
the
project
or
provided
the
opportunity
to
decide
if
they
want
to
partner
on
that
project.

add
that
to
support
partnership
opportunities,
we're
actually
built
into
the
registry,
the
ability
to
define
multiple
accounts
that
are
eligible
for
any
credit
issuance
and
the
breakdown
of
those
of
the
ownership
of
those
credits.
So,
for
instance,
if
the
landowner-
and
you
agree
to
have
a
50
50
split,
we
can
define
that
create
accounts
for
both
of
you
guys
and
for
every
credit
issuance.
We
allocate
accordingly

the
credits.

those

consumers

stringent
requirements
about
certifications
and
such
and
so
smaller
businesses
might
end
up
picking
up
the
slack
if
you
will
in
terms
of
their
interest
and
and
these
credits,
just
another
comment
in
terms
of
the

broader
market.

that's
sort
of
taking
a
step
back
at
the
broader
sort
of
theory
of
change
of
our
system,
because
we
really
are
building
here
not
only
a
program
that
we've
kind

diving

stack

sensing

twelve
dollars,

fifteen
dollars,

twenty

It
really
can
vary
as
low

companies
to

much
higher
price
per
credit.
If
it's
an
individual
offsetting
their
carbon
or
a
small
company

wants
to
invest
in
the
impacts,

over
time

there

model
on

platform.

than

market

internalized

there

flexibility

setting
the

functionality

the

carbon

from
cheap
grazing
and
vineyards.

we
have
a
history
of
partnering
with
entities
with
the
programs
like
this
that
already
reach
farmers
to
say
what
can
we
do
together?

team

is
funded
by

foundation

research
from
the
usda
and
there

looking
at
is
ag
tech
interoperability.
