Mr
sergeant
of
arms
by
the
members
in
the
chamber
and
closed
doors
out
here
by
declaring
the
house

of
the
112th
general
assembly
of
the
state
of
tennessee
now
in
session
with
members,
please
stand
with
the
visitors
in
the
gallery.
Please
stand
to
remain
standing
through
the
pledge
of
allegiance
representative
white
will
serve
as
chaplain
of
the
day.
Representative
white.
You
are
recognized.
B
Mr
speaker,
good
morning,
members
and
welcome
before
we
go
to
our
father
in
prayer
just
wanted
to
share
just
a
few
words
with
you.
I
want
to
bring
our
attention
back
to
a
part
of
the
scriptures.
That
is
probably
we
hear
more
about
than
anything
else,
and
the
reason
why
is
because
every
time
you
go
to
a
wedding,
you
hear
first
corinthians
13
right,
love
is
kind,
love
is
patient,
and
so
we
hear
that
all
the
time,
and
so
in
the
scriptures
paul
when
he
said
that
guess
what
he
wasn't
performing
the
wedding
ceremony.
B
He
was
talking
about
the
hard
facts
of
everyday
life.
If
we
want
to
be
christ-like,
let
me
just
remind
us.
The
word
says:
love
is
patient
when
I'm
sitting
in
committee,
when
I'm
at
home,
when
I'm
in
any
kind
of
meeting
where
I'm
in
here
paul
says
this
is
not
a
wedding.
I'm
talking
to
you
about
this
is
love
is
patient
and
it's
kind
love
is
not
jealous
or
boastful
or
proud
or
rude.
B
B
B
A
A
D
E
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Mr
speaker,
I
rise
today
and
honor
a
lion
of
the
judiciary.
You
have
a
house
joint
resolution
on
our
calendar
number
four
judge.
Barbara
haynes
died
last
week
and
I
want
to
tell
the
members
and
those
that
can
hear
my
voice.
What
this
lady
meant
to
me.
She
was
the
first
woman
elected
county-wide
in
davidson
county.
I
believe
in
1982.
E
She
started
out
as
the
city
judge
in
guiltsville
she
became
a
judge
in
the
general
session
courts
and
then
finally,
she
was
elected
as
circuit
court
judge
on
the
bench
here
in
davidson
county
and
if
you
knew
barbara
haynes,
you
left
there
almost
on
fire.
Just
like
her
red
hair,
you
couldn't
walk
into
her
courtroom
without
being
ready.
She
would
may
I
saw
her.
There
was
one
fella
at
one
point
when
I
was
in
her
courtroom
chewing
gum.
E
She
stopped
the
proceedings
made
that
young
lawyer
spit
his
gum
out
and
said
now.
I
can
hear
you.
You
did
not
walk
into
her
courtroom
without
being
prepared.
Her
knowledge,
her
dedication
to
women's
rights,
her
dedication
to
the
community
is
second
to
none.
I
will
tell
you
a
quick
story,
you
didn't
say
no
to
judge
barbara
haynes.
Mr
speaker,
we
created
leadership
gillettsville
four
five
years
ago
she
was
a
founding
member
of
leadership
gillettsville
and
she
came
to
my
office
and
said
johnny.
E
E
She
told
me
I
was
going
to
be
part
of
leadership
pillsbull
because
she
knew
how
important
communities
are.
So
as
we
rise
today
and
remember
her
and
you
may
know,
mandy,
it's
mandy
young's
mom
senator
joe
haines,
who
served
in
the
senate
across
the
hallway
for
years
and
years
in
district
20
was
her
husband.
E
F
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
of
course,
wandering
the
halls.
Are
our
interns
and
I'm
impressed
with
the
young
people
that
come
to
nashville
to
spend
time
with
us
who
are
going
to
be
maybe
our
country's
next
leaders?
But,
mr
speaker,
I
want
to
introduce
my
intern
rebecca
edwards.
If
you
will
rise
she's
in
the
gallery,
she
goes
to
austin
peay,
state
university
and
her
major
is
political
science.
Please
make
her
welcome.
G
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Today
I
rise
to
honor
a
young
man
by
the
name
of
nathaniel
bone.
Many
of
you
know
his
father,
my
assistant
david
bone.
G
G
H
H
I
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
I'd
like
to
recognize
my
intern
over
here
jack
wu,
who
is
a
student
at
the
university
of
tennessee,
and
I
thank
you,
jack
for
being
interested
and
applying
for
this
internship.
My
daughter
was
an
intern
many
many
years
ago
through
ut
and
we're
making
leaders
today
and
I'm
proud
that
we
have
young
people
that
are
very
interested
in
what
we're
doing
here
and
and
hope
to
see
these
young
people
sitting
in
our
seats
someday
so
welcome
jack,
and
thank
you
for
all
that
you're
doing.
J
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
mr
speaker,
I'd
like
to
welcome
my
interns.
Wherever
they
are
there,
they
are
charlene
brown
from
tennessee
state
university,
who's,
studying
political
science
and
shamar
nash
from
university
of
memphis,
studying
interdisciplinary,
yes,
okay,
with
a
focus
on
social
sciences
and
african-american
history
make
them
feel
welcome.
K
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
I
rise
today
to
recognize
william
riley.
William,
is
an
intern
and
works
with
both
chairman
zachary
and
myself
and
william
is
a
senior
at
the
university
of
tennessee
majoring
in
psychology
and
political
science
he's
4.4.0
gpo
and
he's
been
on
the
dean's
list,
six
out
of
six
semesters,
william
riley.
Thank
you
for
being
with
us
members
give
him
a
round
of
applause.
L
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
and
I
I
very
much
appreciated
the
eloquent
words
that
my
fellow
member
from
sumner
county
had
for
judge
barbara
haynes,
who
is
such
a
a
huge
figure
in
our
county's
history.
I
just
had
a
personal
anecdote.
I
wanted
to
share
that
most
of
you,
as
elected
officials,
will
appreciate.
L
L
I
had
a
huge
event
and,
as
often
happens
when
you're
not
favored,
it
was
not
well
attended
by
elected
and
powerful
people.
The
the
only
elected
official
that
showed
up
to
the
event
was
judge
haynes
and
when
one
of
my
somewhat
startled
campaign,
people
asked
her
why
she
had
come
out
to
this
event.
L
She
said
I
thought
it
was
the
right
thing
to
do
so.
Needless
to
say,
that's
always
stuck
with
me,
and
I
mention
it
because
one
of
her
legacies
in
this
county
is
that
judge.
Haynes
was
always
involved
in
encouraging
people,
particularly
young
people,
to
get
involved
in
politics,
and
there
are
countless
council,
people,
judges
and
other
important
officials,
not
just
in
nashville
but
throughout
the
state
that
were
encouraged
by
her
very
early
on
sometimes
as
school
children.
So
that's
just
with
all
the
other
things
that
she
did.
M
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
I
have
with
me
today
two
of
the
finest
women
from
district
77,
and
I
just
happen
to
be
married
to
one
of
them
up
here
to
my
right,
christy
and
then
right
to
her
left
is
joanne
maupin,
and
then
we
have
they're
our
kids
chloe
on
the
right,
jack
c,
camille,
hadley
and
cara.
So
you
all
make
them
feel
welcome.
D
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
If
you
look
up
in
here
to
the
left
of
the
gallery,
I'd
like
to
introduce
to
you
today,
my
intern
miss
sherry
sampson.
She
is
president
attending
the
tennessee
state
university
and
I'm
so
proud
to
have
her,
and
this
makes
about
her
third
career.
So
everyone
please
give
her
a
round
of
applause.
N
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
I've
got
an
item
on
the
consent
calendar.
It's
house
joint
resolution,
714.,
it
recognizes
memorializes,
alice,
chapman
alice
was
the
managing
partner
at
mcneely,
piggett
and
fox,
and
she
passed
away
suddenly
in
no
last
november,
from
a
brain
aneurysm
leaving
behind
a
husband,
two
young
children.
N
N
She
sponsored
my
wife's
admittance
into
the
downtown
rotary,
but
there
were
countless
people
and
lives
that
she
touched
in
the
public
relations
field
and
in
nashville.
So
I
just
want
to
recognize,
alice
and
think
about
her
family,
and
I
appreciate
your
support
for
the
resolution
on
her
behalf.
Thank
you.

F
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
you
should
have
received
an
email
about
this
if
you're
on
the
health
committee
bill,
but
the
health
committee
will
not
be
meeting
this
afternoon.
Thank
you.
H
K
I
Thank
you,
mr
speaker
and
members
today
at
11
o'clock,
the
instruction
education
full
committee
will
meet
and
we
have
mark
harbison
coming
to
us
from
west
tennessee.
He
will
be
talking
about
blue
oval
city
and
the
future
education
needs
that
our
state
is
going
to
have
to
take
care
of.
So
please
come
join
us.
P
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
members.
Unfortunately,
for
the
last
two
years,
because
of
covet
one
of
the
very
favorite
things
that
you
get
to
do
is
the
capital
music
jam
you're
getting
shocked
to
know
that
you're
sitting
close
to
people
who
are
actually
musicians?
I
see
my
friend
representative
curcio.
He
is
a
savage
violin
player.
P
You
might
just
get
to
hear
him
play
and
I
see
my
friend
representative,
terry
lynn,
weaver
who's,
obviously
one
of
the
best
singers
in
all
of
tennessee
you're
going
to
get
her
seen.
So
I
want
you
to
know
that
february,
22nd
from
5
30
to
7
30
at
the
war
memorial
for
your
listening
pleasure
you're,
going
to
get
to
hear
your
colleagues
and
your
staff
and
your
friends
get
up
in
the
war
memorial
and
straight
out
jam.
P
You
need
to
be
there
and
if
you
want
to
be
a
part
of
the
music
with
leader
camper,
because
she's
got
a
situation
going
on
with
her
group,
then
you
need
to
go,
see
her
and
see
nathan
poss.
He
will
make
sure
that
you
get
put
on
the
list
and
if
we
ask
real
nicely,
maybe
we'll
even
get
the
speaker
to
sing
who
knows
february
22
war
memorial
make
sure
you
see
nathan
poss.
If
you
want
to
be
a
part
of
the
music.
A
That
would
not
be
pleasurable,
but
I
appreciate
the
invite
anyone
else
seeking
under
announcements
represent
parkinson.
Q
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Just
a
quick
reminder.
Ties
returns
the
biggest
event
for
interns
in
the
tennessee
legislature.
Please,
if
you
have
any
ties,
bring
them
by
419.
We
gladly
accept
them.
Thank
you
to
all
of
the
members
and
others
who
have
donated
ties.
We
got
a
great
crop
this
year,
we're
looking
forward
to
it.
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Thank.
