Alvin Settles dedicated a life of service to the people of Beaufort, and taught children how to swim at the pool on Greene Street. Beaufort County dedicated and renamed the pool in his honor.

This Military Appreciation day event celebrates active-duty servicemembers, veterans and retired military members. Food, family fun, and a warm welcome are the hallmarks of Military Appreciation Day.
This year’s event will be held outdoors at Naval Heritage Park in Port Royal, adjacent to the Naval Hospital, on Saturday, November 19 from 1pm to 3pm.
This annual event is the business community’s opportunity to show appreciation for the men and women in uniform at our region’s military installations and thank them for their service to our country and to our community.
