four
years

really
quick
and
the
reason
I
invited
Tom
down
is
two
proclamations
in
a
row.
I
would
not
have
been
where
I
am
today
without
both
of
these
two
gentlemen.
Here
they
were
here
with
me
from
the
beginning
from
when
my
wife
died
to
the
pandemic
to
the
Hurricanes.
The
three
of
us
have
been
together
all
the
time,
sometimes
more
than
they
care
to
be,
but
we've
been
to
get
an
awful
lot
along
the
way.

appreciate
everything
they've
done
to
make
this
town
a
success
that
they
are
William

Hawkins
was
originally
from
Hartford
Connecticut
and
earned
a
bachelor
of
degree
from
Providence,
College
and
a
master's
degree
from
Yale
University.
It's
interesting
when
skip
wants
to
get
his
goat.
He
says
he
went
to
Princeton
and
then
David
went
to
Yale,
that's
how
he
gets
there.

staff

core
group

staff
of
this
island

really

we're
able

move
a
lot
faster,
a
lot
smarter

much
more
deliberation

we
have
a
keen
staff
that
can
help
frame
a
situation
and
then
have
it
perk
up
to
a
point
where
we
can
make
a
good
decision.

very
instrumental
in
reaching
out
Beyond
Hilton
Head
I'm
delighted
to
see
two
Mayors
are
here
with
our
Mayors
from
Beaufort
I've
left
an
excuse
me
in
hardyville.

thanks,
certainly
he's

followed

a

do
you
improve
upon
an
island
community
that
consistently
is
ranked
number
one
in
the
country?
That's
the
challenge,
however,
I'm,
confident
that
Glenn,
Tammy,
Alex
and
David
will
lead
a
new
Council
to
establishing
policy
that
is
up
to
that
challenge,
I'm
equally
as
confident
in
Mark
and
Josh,
leading
a
very,
very
talented
staff
in
the
implementation
and
execution
of
that
policy.

she's
just
walking
away
it's
very
interesting

the
success
of
this

of
our
biggest
achievements
been
our
intergovernmental
work

towns
around
us,

with
Bluffton
and
hardyville
in
Bluffton.

our

leading

as
mayor,
but
with
the
respect

know

likenesses,
because

we

four
unique
towns:
you're

resort,
five
unique
towns
Beaufort,
you

historical
Port,
Royal
up
and
coming
Bluffton
I
think
is
a
true
small
town.

poor,
we
didn't
have
couldn't

the
whole
ball,
I
had
to
teach
the
guy
about
half
ball
and
the
first
lunch
we
had
with
them.
I
will
tell
you
one
thing
that
my
first
poster
in
my
bedroom
in
Philadelphia
that
row
homes
were
smaller
than
this
room
and
I
had
one
poster
the
1950
Phillies
Whiz
Kids,
but
they
were
swept
in
the
world
series
by
the
New.
York
Yankees
and
I
have
hated
them
ever
since,
but
in
spite
of
that,
I
I
did
when
mayor
McCann
was
sworn
in.

the
Secretary
of
soloco,
something
that
a
small
group
of
us
got
together
and
and
brought
this
idea
of
regionalization
bill
has
invited
me
a
couple
of
times
on
some
prospects
and
and
I
I
really
thank

including
hardyville
in
in
the
scope
of
of
this
region.
So
they
say
that
politics,
you
know,
makes
for
strange
bedfellows
and
that's
probably
true.
We
all
know
that,
but
politics
also
has
made
some
very
good
friends
and
thank
you
for
being
our
friend.

done
something

what
he

doing

he

trying

find
out

positions
of
counsel

a
controversial
issue,

he
found
out
that
we
were
all
over
the
place
took
it
off

agenda
referred

committee,
got
things
done
correctly.
That
is
leadership
rather
than
promoting
Warfare
up
here,
which
has
happened
in
the
past.
It
hasn't
happened
in
the
last
four
years.

leadership

wisdom
and
experience
