I've
been
an
ER
nurse
for
nine
years
and
I'm
a
certified
emergency
nurse
I'm,
the
chair
of
the
workplace,
violence
committee
for
our
Texas
emergency
Nurses,
Association
and
I'm.
Also
president-elect
for
the
Golden
Triangle
emergency
Nurses
Association
workplace
violence
is
defined
as
an
act
of
aggression,
physical
assault
or
threatening
behavior
that
occurs
in
a
work
setting
causing
physical
or
emotional
harm
to
employees,
co-workers
or
managers.

Violence
against
health
care
workers
is
on
the
rise.
According
to
a
prescany
survey,
data
found
that
over
5
000
nurses
were
assaulted
in
the
second
quarter
of
2022
alone.
This
analysis
found
that
5217
nurses
assaulted
on
the
job,
which
equates
to
two
assaults:
every
hour:
57
assaults
every
day
or
1739
salts
every
month.

So
we
want
to
come
together
as
a
community
to
show
support
and
protection
for
health
care
workers.
Legislation
are
passed,
the
Texas
state
legislature,
sorry
Texas
state
legislator
in
2013,
already
making
it
a
third
degree
felony
in
Texas
to
assault
emergency
room
Personnel
while
giving
care
most
people
don't
know
that
some
of
our
employees
don't
even
know
that.

Another
incident
just
before
this,
a
patient
physically
assaulted
our
nurse
and
when
talking
with
the
nurse
they
did
not
choose
to
file
the
police
report.
They
were
not
sure
what
could
be
done
or
of
that
law.
We
also
have
had
a
patient,
threaten
the
life
of
a
nurse
practitioner
and
wait
outside
in
the
parking
lot
for
this
practitioner
to
get
off
work.
This
happened
recently
as
well.

I
am
here
so
that
these
nurses
know
that
not
only
are
they
supported,
but
they
now
will
have
the
proof
that
the
whole
city
is
behind
them.
This
whole
city
can
come
together
in
agreement
that
we
should
be
able
to
be
free
of
violence,
while
caring
for
the
citizens
of
this
community
today
can
mark
the
beginning
of
a
relationship
between
health
care
workers
and
the
leaders
in
our
community
to
show
unity
in
workplace
violence,
zero
tolerance.

to
the
emergency
room
before

know

police
officers
there,

assuming
that
they're,
probably
bringing
someone
in
from
an
arrest
but
now
I
see

need
even
more
and
again
as
I
said
as
you
approach.

operating
Hospitality

the
local
area
in
Southeast
Texas
for
over
25
years,
and
we're
also
the
original
founder
and
curator
for
last
year's
Beaumont
mural
Fest.
Next
to
me
this
is
Jay
music.
He
is
the
artist
curator
he
brings
in
a
talent
I'm.
Basically
one
that's
organized
at
a
festival
and
I
want
to
let
Jay
kind
of
tell
you
what
we're
trying
to
achieve
with
the
mural
fest
going
forward.

So
just
some
highlights
of
last
year,
you're,
probably
familiar
with
some
of
the
artworks
that
have
gone
up.
The
inaugural
Fest
I
believe
in
my
opinion,
was
a
huge
success.
We
activated
downtown
area
and
Calder
Avenue
with
lots
of
live,
painting
and
art
gallery
all
week.
Family
friendly
Festival
food
trucks.
There
were
a
lot
of
local
businesses
benefiting
from
all
this
traffic
selling
drinks
and
food
and
local
art.
I
You
can
see
there
that
the
visiting
artist
there
were
16,
not
including
myself,
as
well
as
a
couple
other
sort
of
media
people,
so
about
20
or
so
people
coming
from
all
over
the
country
to
experience
Beaumont
for
a
week
and
what
they
would
do
is
then
take
back
that
experience
of
the
hospitality
of
the
city
here
to
their
home
City.
So
in
terms
of
Tourism,
it's
really
giving
Beaumont
a
really
organic
reach
across
the
country.

Next

please
there's
just
some
stills

artists

Puerto
Rico
and
Michigan
Henry
Smith
on
the
bottom
right
who's
a
born
and
raised
in
Beaumont
he's
now
in
La
having
a
successful
art
career.
He
came
back
into
that
beautiful
piece.
We
had
artists
from
Taiwan
from
Houston
from
South
America,
just
to
name
a
few,
and
to
give
you
some
examples.
I
know
some
people
might
have
been
a
little
unaware
of.
I
You
know
how
murals
can
work
in
terms
of
Commerce
and
also
in
terms
of
just
improving
the
quality
of
life
for
for
a
city,
so
Flint
public
art
projects
when
I've
been
involved
with
since
2017
a
couple
years
after
they
started
it's
a
grant-funded
operation.
They
get
some
funding
from
the
University
there,
as
well
as
some
Municipal
funding,
but
it
really
seeks
to
improve
the
public
safety
and
the
quality
of
life
for
every
all
the
residents
of
Flint.
Everybody
probably
knows
about
the
Water
Crisis.
I
Everybody
knows
that
the
Auto
industry
left
and
kind
of
left
Flint
high
and
dry.
So
what
the
mural
Fest
is
actually
trying
to
do
as
a
culture
shift.
It's
trying
to
show
people
that
Flint
has
a
lot
more
potential
for
things
like
Health,
Care,
Tech,
arts
and
culture.
It's
not
this
place
where
the
water
is
brown
and
there's
no
jobs
right.
I
Murals
help
to
do
that
very
visibly,
very
affordably
and
in
a
quick
and
permanent
way,
some
successful
outcomes
that
they
have
proven
or
reduce
blight,
improve
safety
relationships
with
the
police
and
the
communities
increase
the
property
values.
My
friend
and
organizer
of
the
festival
actually
bought
his
home
in
your
downtown
Flint
for
thirty
thousand
dollars,
I
want
to
say
10
years
ago.
It's
now
on
the
market
for
more
than
two
hundred
thousand
dollars.
I
So
that's
a
huge
increase
in
terms
of
property
value,
a
very
direct
correlation
with
the
Arts
that
they're
bringing
through
the
mural
Festival
next
slide.
Please
Wynwood,
I,
don't
know
if
anybody's
been
in
Miami,
it's
a
big
party
on
South
Beach,
but
a
lot
of
what
a
lot
of
people
don't
know
about.
Winwood
area
is
that
they've
used
street
art
pretty
transparently
to
just
improve
the
value
of
the
property
there
and
improve
the
the
quality
of
life.
I
So
there's
one
particular
developer
who
says
when
you
involve
culture
in
the
Arts,
you
get
the
most
bang
for
your
buck
right,
so
kind
of
bringing
the
murals
and
graffiti
to
a
higher
level
right,
there's
a
little
bit
of
illegal
graffiti,
around
Beaumont,
not
too
bad
of
a
problem.
That's
a
good
thing!
You
probably
high
school
kids,
you
know
doing
dumb
stuff,
but
we
can
kind
of
elevate.
This
art
form.
I
That's
that's
who
I
was
actually
believe
it
or
not.
20
years
ago,
I
was
that
dumb
kid
doing
the
graffiti
in
the
alley
so
to
give
the
kids
potential
to
give
them
mentorship
to
give
them
something
to
reach
towards
all
these
artists
from
all
over
the
country
getting
to
come
in
getting
paid
to
do
this
work
wow,
you
know,
I
want
to
do
that.
So
it's
another
Avenue
that
a
lot
of
people
don't
consider
so
increased
platforms
for
public
art,
like
it
says,
opportunities
for
artists
and
businesses
alike.
I
have
been
to
Winwood.
I
I
Little
clip
of
you
know
some
of
the
scenes
from
Winwood
and
okay.
We
can
skip
that
one
yeah.
Thank

Eight
years
going
strong
is
the
shine
mural
Fest
in
St
Pete
Florida
again
there.
You
know
it's
a
festival,
that's
activating
through
technology
they're
using
QR
codes
and
plaques
performances.
They
also
have
art
nights
and
workshops.
I
They
collaborate
with
schools
on
mural
projects,
where
there's
a
lead
artist
and
the
school
kids
get
to
contribute
to
making
the
piece
neighborhood
beautifications,
and
not
only
all
that
Community
stuff,
but
again,
there's
Commerce
there
there's
the
slingshot.
You
know
those
those
cars
and
there's
brands
that
are
coming
in
and
wanting
to
collaborate
with
this
event,
because
it
highlights
the
product
that
they're
selling
right
just
like
a
building
owner
downtown.
It
can
highlight
the
building
that
you're
trying
to
rent
out
right.
It
can
make
it
look
more
beautiful.
I
Now
we
still
have
a
lot
of
question
marks
to
be
determined
in
terms
of
sites
funding
Etc,
but
these
are
people
who
are
passionate
about
doing
work
for
the
community
they're
willing
to
come
to
Beaumont
for
a
a
fraction
of
the
price
that
they
should
command
on
Commercial
mural
work
just
to
help
out
the
the
project
that
we're
trying
to
you
know
get
off
the
ground
next
slide,
and
just
so
we
can
kind
of
scroll
through
some
of
these
kind
of
kind
of
quickly
I'm,
not

She
actually
did
the
mural
on.

Right
with
the
Beautiful
Things,
yes,
she
she
did
that
last
year,
actually
not
as
a
part
of
the
festival
but
around
the
same
time
period.
So
we
got
to
chat
and
she
said
hey,
if
you
do
this
again
next
year,
I'd
love
to
be
a
part.
You
know
so
she's.
You
know
basically
volunteered
to
be
on
the
roster.
At
this
point
we
can
scroll
through
just
some
samples.

the
Bronx.
Originally
she's
been
painting
almost
30
years.
You
can
see
his
pop
art
style

iconic.

This
is
all
aerosol
spray
paint
by
the
way,
yeah
very
talented
artist,
Lauren
Ys
Lauren
has
done
work,
I
think
for
Yale
University
as
well
as
so
many
other
very
high
profile.
I
She's
got
a
deep
narrative
to
to
her
work
and
underrepresented
communities
often
are
somehow
metaphorically
involved
in
the
imagery
lots
of
fishbone
St
Louis
the
whole
sides
of
buildings
that
she
can
transform
into
very
Whimsical
fun,
colorful
icons,
her
parents
were
mirrorless
and
she's
been
doing
it
her
whole
life,
so
I'm
just
an
example
of
the
scale
of
the
work,
the
quality
of
the
work
and
as
data
one
of
the
best
portrait
artists
that
I've
ever
met.
He
can
render
these
one
and
two
story
portraits
like
a
photo
also
done
with
spray
paint.
I
And
on
that
note
too,
and
I
can
get
to
a
little
bit
later,
but
with
another
thing
I
can
bring,
is
is
discounted
very
wholesale
if
not
donated
paints.
There's
spray
paint.
Brands
are
specific
to
artwork,
but
it's
not
what
you're
getting
at
Home,
Depot
and
Lowe's.
This
is
paint
that's
going
to
be
more
vibrant.
It's
going
to
last
longer.
I

She
also
does
a
lot
of
workshops
with
kids,
the
youth
they
can
cut
stencils
and
help
her
paint
them
in
Rex
Hamilton.
You
see
some
brand
collaborations
here
too.
A
lot
of
this
work
is
client-based
commission
work,
maybe
some
festivals,
you
can
see
the
12-story
apartment
he
just
painted
in
France
and
the
Facebook
offices
and
Tim
Curry
he's
Tim
Curry.
This
is
pretty
cool.
His
dad
was
born
in
Vidor
and
he
taught
at
Bastrop
ISD
and
he
taught
Johnny
and
Edgar
a
winner
or
he
taught
one
of
them
and
I.
I
Don't
know
if
y'all
know
who
they
are:
they're
old
musicians
right
from
Beaumont,
so
Tim
when
I
told
Tim
I
was
like
hey.
Would
you
want
to
come
and
paint
because
he
does
a
lot
of
school
work
too
School
murals,
he
says
yeah,
oh
and
I
got
this
great
story
for
it.
I'd
love
to
paint
Johnny
and
Edgar
Winter
I
was
like
well,
and
then
he
told
me
this
whole
thing
so
to
have
a
local
connection
is
pretty
cool.
I
You
know
he
hasn't
been
back
in
a
while,
but
it'd
be
good
for
him
to
reconnect
and
again
he's
world
renowned.
He
flies
the
world
museums
he's
doing.
Museum
shows
and
he
was
big
in
the
punk
rock
scene
as
well
as
the
skate
scene.
So
he's
kind
of
this
like
living
legend,
folk
artist,
that
is
willing
able
to
come.
You
know
back
to
Beaumont
and
put
up
some
really
iconic
work.
I
I
I,
don't
know
what
the
population
Beaumont
is,
but
I
think
that's
a
little
even
bigger
than
the
whole
whole
of
the
city.
So
Not
only
would
Beaumont
know
about.
What's
going
on
when
these
artists
post
to
their
you
know,
media
accounts
and
whatnot
Beaumont
is
getting
this
huge
blast
across
the
world
really
and
then
all
those
sponsors
and
all
those
businesses
are
able
to
get
that
same
advertising.
So
I,
don't
know
how
you
quantify
that,
but
I
think
that's
could
be
pretty.
I
I
Studio,
overhead
Etc,
so
a
500
square
foot
mural
might
be
priced
at
anywhere
from
ten
to
fifty
dollars
a
square
foot,
that's
kind
of
industry
standard
which
covers
all
that,
and
you
can
see
here
that
the
Beaumont
mural,
which
was
done
for
much
less
than
that
last
year,
should
have
been.
You
know
a
10
or
12
000
mural
and
some
people
might
not
think.
Well.
That's
a
lot
for
a
mural
but
again
you're
rolling
into
those
things.
This
mural
will
last
10
to
15
years
right
with
painting
with
good
quality
paint.
I
It's
going
to
give
that
business
signage.
It's
going
to
give
the
business
advertising
and
marketing
opportunities.
These
are
all
things
that
are
quantifiable
on
many
levels
right,
so
the
mural
yeah
maybe
only
happens
once,
but
it's
here
for
a
long
time,
as
opposed
to
an
event
that
only
happens.
You
know
a
day
or
a
weekend,
and
then
you
know
people
forget
about
it
and
they
leave
downtown.
You
know
so
last
year's
budget
I,
don't
know
if
you
may
want
to
jump
in
on
this
one,
but
I
didn't
handle
a
whole
lot
of
this.

Basically,
I
wanted
Jay
to
at
least
give
you
guys
an
idea
what
talent
we're
bringing
to
one.
These
aren't
people
that
you
can
pick
up.
The
phone
call
have
them
come
out
unless
you're
paying
them
what
they're,
charging
or
they're
only
coming
out
to
a
festival
due
to
the
fact
they
have
a
working
relationship
with
Jay.
So
the
budget
that
you
guys
see
all
the
artists
last
year
they
only
made
2500.

Like
I
said
we
both
grew
up.
Probably
not
the
best
kids
came
from
I
grew
up
in
Houston
I've
been
in
Beaumont,
like
I,
said
20
plus
years
now,
and
we
wanted
to
have
an
imprint
on
something
that
we
can
change
and
also
I
know.
The
city
has
been
really
heavy
on
wanting
to
develop
something
in
downtown
and
I
wanted
to
know
if
downtown
Baltimore
was
a
viable
for
continued
progress
and
last
year
was
kind
of
my
proof
of
concept
to
people
that
something
different
will
work.

I
know
there
was
some
controversy
that
surrounded
it
with
the
local
artists,
which
we
we
are
addressing
this
year,
but
Beaumont
doesn't
have
a
whole
lot
of
mirrors.
There
may
be
two
or
three
on
hand.
That's
capability
of
doing
what
you
guys
see
and
for
those
artists
to
come
in
Jay
was
basically
calling
in
a
favor.
Jay
himself
came
down.

So
from
what
you
can
see.
I'll
be
honest
between
what
I
raised
last
year
and
when,
with
the
help
that
I
got
from
Outsource,
we
probably
funded
how
I
funded
personally
half
the
festival
last
year.
This
Festival
isn't
for
me
to
come
in
here
to
try
to
make
a
profit
I've
gotten
a
lot
from
the
city
of
Beaumont
for
the
last
20
some
years,
I've
been
here.

There's
some
way
for
me
to
give
back
that,
knowing
that
I
want
to
be
involved,
my
kids
are
being
raised
in
Vermont
I
want
to
see
things
change
in
my
life
and
being
able
to
be
a
part
of
the
downtown
committee
seeing
that
what
the
end
goal
is
for
downtown.
This
is
the
perfect
Gateway
between
the
city
in
the
private
sector
to
come
together,
put
on
something:
that's
not
going
to
just
benefit
the
private
sector,
but
also
the
city
yourself.

There's
no
other
festival
or
thing
you
can
do
that
can
create
a
lasting
impact
like
public
art,
Mardi,
Gras,
New,
Year's
party,
Christmas
party,
all
the
stuff
that
events
that's
being
thrown
like
they
say
once
the
weekend's
over.
No
one
thinks
about
it.
So
since
mural
Fest
has
happened
last
year
there
has
been
four
new
additional
murals.
That's
gone
up
in
downtown
pay
for
by
the
private
sector.

We
also
have
individuals,
that's
locally,
develop
a
business
around
the
Mill
Trail.
So
now,
there's
Australian
military,
where
we
publicize,
where
you
can
see
all
the
murals
and
I
personally
am
just
we're.
Looking
for
two
things:
one
I'm
looking
for
City
support
on
the
closure,
all
the
streets
that
we
need
and
I'm
looking
for
funding
to
help
for
the
local
order.
Section
I
am
trying
to
we're
working
on
getting
sponsors
in
for
the
guests,
that's
arriving,
but
we
have
Tatiana's
I'm,
not
sure.

If
anybody's
familiar
who
Arness
is
she's,
one
of
the
local
artists,
that's
very,
very
fairly
popular
everybody
lives
here,
she's
going
to
be
spearheading
the
local
artist
side
in
the
open
casting
for
local
artists
here,
Subaru
the
art
director
she's,
also
on
board
of
helping
and
she's
reaching
out.
She
us
has
an
open
call.
That's
put
out
now.
Sue
has
brought
a
to
me
her
problems
before
she's
had
three
Commission
murals
that
she
sent
out
for
public
calls
in
Southeast
Texas.

Not
only
did
the
individuals
last
year
who
wanted
who
had
a
problem
with
us
bringing
the
outside
artists.
Not
only
did
they
not
even
attempt
to
submit
a
submission,
they
wouldn't
even
want
to
get
involved,
but
now
it's
only
when
someone's
bringing
down
a
festival
and
it's
outside
artist
coming
in
not
all
of
a
sudden
we're
the
bad
guys
I'm
just
trying
to
provide
something
to
give
it
a
jump
starter.
It
was
never
about
taking
opportunities
away
from
local
artists.

It's
about
opening
up
new
opportunities
where

painting
and
leave

develop

the
next
few

do
community
outreach
programs
and
basically

to
uplift.

that
neighborhood

on
and
that's
coming
directly
from
an
outside
sponsor
who
Exxon
has
been
here
hundreds
of

we
also
have
large
Nationwide
sponsors.

already
looking

come

board

some
help
from
the
city
as
far
as

help
get
the
local
artists,
what
they

Festival
going

like
I

funding

festival

profit

the

asked

Council,

updates

that,
so
we've
gone
through
a
process
over
the
last
more
than
several
weeks,
putting
together
an
organizational
structure
that
I
think
that
will
work
well
for
the
for
the
City
of
Beaumont.
So
if
thank

for
your
slides,
you
know
organizational
structure.

basically
provides
a
representation
of
relationships,
functions
of
the
organization,
people
and
then,
and
also
it.
It
includes
the
flow
of
date,
flow
of
data
responsibility
and
Reporting
over
that
four-month
period.

visited
most
of
the
Departments
most
of
the
divisions
firsthand
to
be
able
to
get
there
and
okay.

to

realize

challenges
associated

been
a

topic
for
us,
we're
doing
some
things

we
speak.

had

meeting
with
the
school
board
with
a
joint
school
boards
and
city
council,
but
what
we
want
to
do
is
you

we
want
to
put
together
High
performing
team.
You

ability

put
that
together
and
Champion
the
organization,

organizational
culture

hear
me
speak
of
culture
many
times
whenever
I
speak
and
we
are
working
on
that
culture.

It's
going
to
be
somewhat
different
than
it's
been

past,
because
the
people
are
different,
the
leadership's
different.
So
we
have
to
work
together
and

manage
that
culture,
growth
and
development,
as
we
go
through
customer
service,
continue

hear

the

it's
one
of
the
priorities
that
we're
working
on
customer
service
as
a
matter
of
fact
we're
getting
ready
to
do
customer
service
training
for
every
employee
of
the
City
of
Beaumont.

mandatory
that
they
attend

customer
service
training,
no
matter
what
position
that
they
work
in,
so
we're
working
through
those
processes
as
we
speak,
but
unable
to
do
that
too.
We've
got
to
have
competitive
salaries.
You
know
competitive
salaries,
you
needed
to
compete
for
top
talent.
You
know
competitive
sellers
can
be
salary,
but
it
can
also
be
benefits.
High
value
benefits
things
that
are
important
to
people.
Sometimes
it's
not
always
dollars,
that's
other
thing,
but
then
some
people
just
want
to
come
and
live
with
you
all.
They
want
they
like
your
location.

been
designated
as
a
lifetime,
member
of
the
Texas
City
Advantage
Association
and
the
international
City
men's
association
and
a
distinguished
member
so
I'm
in
touch
with,
what's
going

only
state

also
International
Trends
and
what's
happening
there
as
far
as
assistant
city
manager,
system,
I've,
implemented
the
systems
before
when
I
got
the
beauty
of
that
there
were
no
assistant
city
managers.
We
put
that
in
place
and
thrived
as
a
society
thrived
really
well.

were
able
to
do
some
things
and
do
some
projects
such
as
we
got
two
Bond
ratings
improvements.
We
were
able
to
do
that
because
we
had
the
right
structure
when
Bond
rating
companies
come
into
town.
They
look
at
your
structure.
They
look
at
your
ability
to
pay
debt,
they
look
at
your
reserves
and
we've
got
to
be
able
to
show
that
we
have
strong
management
team
at
at
a
large
part
of
your
bond
rating.

We
went
out
for
two
Bond
issues,
large
Bond
issues,
and
because
we
got
an
improved
bond
rate
and
that
we
were
able
to
save
millions
of
dollars
and
on
projects
you
know
infrastructure
projects.
We
built
the
municipal
complex
there
with
the
police
departments
and
based
upon
those
in
Pro
Bond
ratings.
We
were
able
to
save
dollars
to
not
only
that
the
projects
came
in
a
couple
of
million
dollars
on
the
budget,
so
physically
responsible,
physically
conservative,
and
able
to
put
things
in
place
to
do
that.

We
of
course,
increased
fund
reserves
and
Lufkin
and
Beauty.
So
so
that
really
works
and,
of
course,
the
Personnel
numbers.
You
know
if
you're
in
a
small
town,
but
an
increased
Personnel
by
70
percent.
With
this,
with
this
organizational
structure
is
the
line,
organizational
structure,
it
answers
from
the
top
down.
Basically,
of
course,
information
flows
up,
but
it
worked
really
well
in
the
city,
the
200
growth
rate
and
creating
departments,
including
the
police
department.

the

the

the

the

the

projects

people
who

work
don't

time
to
spend
on

we've
been
assigned
someone
to
those
special
projects,

currently
working
on
a
film
friendly
application

will
bring

major
film

your
company,
which
brings
in
hundreds
of
people
who
live,
work
and
play
or
stay
in
your
hotels
and
eat
there.
We're
working
on
Grant
applications
for
the
new
infrastructure
grants
with
that,
and
also
the
youth
Council
they're
spending
a
lot
of
time
with
the
youth
youth
Council.

see
the
executive
assistance
up
in
the
city,
manager's
office,
of
course
there's
one
that
works
with
constituent
services
that
supports
you
as
a
council
full-time
in
that
position,
and
then
that
we
want
to
support
myself
and
the
mayor
and
the
office
up
there

before
we
start.
If
you
look
at
the
bottom
there's
as
a
bit
of
a
key
for
color
coding
and
the
gold
I
think
it's
gold,
it's
basically
a
department.

with
the

is
basically

new
department

create

divisions.

of
the
things
that
was
a
little
ambiguous
to
me

was

bit

deal

more
with
maintenance
grounds
and
Parks
maintenance
with
the
city
and
Highway,
and
meeting
Mike
Highway

media
and
maintenance
I'm
sorry
there.
So
there
was
a
discussion
in
which
we
went
back
and
looked
at
the
the
some
of
the
minutes.

processes
out
there
that
we
can
put
in
place
to
really
accelerate
the

success
of
this
organization.

on

was
evaluated

talked
about
the
beautification

recreation
activities
again
communication.
It
was
set
up
as
a
division
in
the
past
year.
I
didn't

think
I
missed
it.
In

last
discussion,
communication
was
set
up
as
a
division,
we're
proposing
to
make
it.

send

to

part
of
our

special
transportation
services.
It
provides
Mobility
to
those
seniors
which
is
also
high
for
our
community,
that
population
that
does
not
have
a
vehicle

cannot
operate
a
vehicle
because

disabilities.
So
we
provide
that
Mobility.
We
connect
them
to
school,
we
connect
them
to
Medical
Services
and
for
the
day-to-day,
like
grocery
shopping
and
also
Leisure.
So
our
commitment,

commitment,

to
continue
to
increase
those
numbers
and
make
sure
that
we
bring
the
much
needed
funding
we're
going
to
continue
to
apply
to
other
opportunities

in

need
for
public
transportation

people
that

have

way

alternative

originally

Beaumont.

retired

fire
service
in
Portsmouth
Virginia,
a
city
very
much
similar

Beaumont
Portsmouth,

small
Port
City
that
was
booming
at
one
time,
did
exceptionally
well
post-war
and
then
suddenly,
in
the
late
70s
and
into
the
80s
80s
started
to
dwindle
businesses,
close
people
moved
away.
We
went
from
130
000
down
to
90
000
when
I
left,
Portsmouth
I've
gone
back
to
visit.

Things
have
changed,
there's
been
what
the
mayor
calls
there:
a
Renaissance,
not
a
rehabilitation,
not
any
of
these
other
things,
but
a
Renaissance
they've
got
businesses
coming
back
in.
They
have
the
art
that
we
saw

by

young
men.
That
said,
they
want
to
come
here
and
make
changes
in
our
city.

building

downtown
since
1955
those

years
here

Southeast
Texas

that
building.

wouldn't
need
the
utilization
of
that
parking
on
the
Magnolia
side,
which
is
next
to
the
skate
park.

door

it,
if
there
needed
to
be
some
kind
of
a
long-term
ground
lease
for
parking
between
that
facility
and
the
the
Great
Lawn
we
would,
we
would
probably
be
the
least
invasive
tenant
for
that
building
or
owner

building,

our
access
would
come
from
our
own
parking
lot,
which
is
excess
accessible
from
155
MLK.
So
it's
in
the
back
of
our
parking
lot.
That
back
wall
is
the
property
line.

would
build
dock
doors
and
everything

we
wouldn't
have
anything
on
the
back
side
of
that
building.

would

kind

clutter,

of
other

We
talked
about
the
bond
rating
during

budget
period,

I'm
not
hearing
a
lot

what's
being
done
for
the
citizens.

example,
the
children.
There
was
a

street
in
Amelia,
it
was
surface,
looked
good,
but
who's
planning
sidewalks.

kids
are
walking
in
the
street
over
by
Beaumont
united.
We
gave
them
accolades
for
being
good
in
basketball,
but
those
kids
don't
have
sidewalks
in
front
of
Beaumont
United
or
going
to
the
library
who's.
Looking
at
that
in
planning
for
the
city,
you
know
our
children
or
our
investment,
they
don't
need
to
be
standing
in
the
street
waiting
for
their
bus
for
their
parents.

mention
the
city's
Charter
says
that
you're
responsible
for
sidewalks
and
streets
and
on

the
ordinance

of

was

city
is

was

to

passed
away
recently,
and
we're
really

miss
him.

suffering
from
cancer

while

he

so
dedicated
that
he
would

take
chemotherapy
in
Houston

drive
back
to

just

would
be

remember
that
