Okay,
good
evening,
everyone
I
am
Shamel
Palacios

before
you
as

is
my
pleasure
to
welcome
you
all
to
the
commencement
exercise
of
Goose
Creek
High
Schools
class
of
2023
today
marks
the
accumulation
of
13
years
of
hard
work,
dedication
and
growth.
While
it
hasn't
always
been
an
easy
Journey,
it
is
undeniably
been
a
journey
well
worth
it
and
we
made
it
as
I
stand
here
today.
I
am
filled
with
overwhelming
sense
of
Joy.
E
E
I
am
also
deeply
thankful
for
my
teachers,
the
supportive
Community,
my
family
and
my
incredible
friends
for
their
belief
in
me,
and
their
constant
encouragement
to
all
my
fellow

I
want
you
to
remember
that,
even
though
the
path
seems
hard
hold
on
tightly
because
your
breakthrough
is
either
here
or
on
its
way
in
closing,
I
am
thankful
for
the
remarkable
years
we
have
to
spend
together.
Let
us
all
continue
to
pursue
our
dreams
and
never
give
up
no
matter
the
obstacles
we
face.

G
G
G
G
G
So
how
do
you
bloom
in
adverse
conditions?
By
being
here
today?
You
have
already
demonstrated
that
you
have
found
a
way
you
have
persevered
through
a
pandemic
virtual
learning
and
even
those
Tick
Tock
challenges,
as
you
continue
to
Blossom
in
life.
Remember
the
following
principles:
embrace
the
challenge:
look,
no
further
than
a
diamond
to
understand
that
some
of
the
most
beautiful
things
in
this
world
emerge
from
intense
pressure
and
numerous
challenges.
G
G
And
finally,
when
the
volcano
of
Life
erupts
remember
the
beauty
from
ashes
just
as
ashes,
contain
numerous
minerals
essential
for
growth,
magnesium,
calcium,
sodium
sulfur
iron
and
zinc.
Remember
that
even
in
the
face
of
adversity,
valuable
lessons
can
be
learned
and
personal
growth
can
be
achieved.
G
H

Will
you
please
stand
to
be
recognized
at
this
time.
I
Today
is
a
big
day
for
us
graduates
for
the
parents,
siblings,
family
and
friends.
Things
will
be
different
after
we
walk
this
stage.
All
grown
up,
I've
looked
forward
to
this
day
for
as
long
as
I
can
remember
and
I'm
sure
many
of
you
have
too
well
after
everything
that
day
has
finally
come.
How
do
you
feel
first
of
all,
I'd
like
to
thank
you
all
for
being
here
today,
each
and
every
one
of
you
has
such
a
unique
story.
I
You've
all
been
through
so
much
that
has
led
you
here
to
this
moment
different
backgrounds,
different
Futures,
but
in
this
moment
you
are
all
here
celebrating
this
Milestone
together,
high
school
was
a
long
four
years
that
definitely
had
some
crazy,
unexpected
turns,
but
through
it
all,
we
made
it.
That's
not
a
small
feat.
I
High
school
was
an
experience
for
sure
it
did
have
its
moments,
some
really
great
ones,
some,
maybe
not
as
much
freshman
year,
I
felt
adjusted
to
pretty
quickly
sophomore
year.
I'm
not
gonna
lie
I,
don't
remember
all
too
well
with
all
the
online
school
most
of
the
day
is
sort
of
Blended.
Together
junior
year,
I
really
tried
to
put
myself
out
there
joining
all
sorts
of
clubs
and
taking
initiative
to
do
as
much
as
I
could
this
year,
I
was
mostly
ready
to
get
things
done.
I
I
think
the
biggest
thing
that
got
me
through
high
school
was
the
people.
We've
got
some
amazing
people
here:
talented
dancers,
singers,
writers
musicians
and
more
I'm
super
lucky
to
be
friends
with
some
of
the
kindest
funniest
and
most
supportive
people.
I
know,
though
many
of
us
will
be
going
our
separate
ways
these
next
coming
months,
I
hope
to
stay
in
touch
and
see
them.
Thrive
I
wouldn't
be
up
here
without
them,
I'd
be
lying.
If
I
said,
I
felt
ready
for
the
future.
I'm
scared
to
move
forward.
I
The
future
holds
a
lot
of
what-ifs
and
I
feel
I
can't
move,
sometimes
I
can't
breathe.
I
want
to
hope
that
things
will
fall
into
place
if
I
just
do
what
I'm
expected
to
do
and
what
seems
right,
maybe
it
will
from
here
on
out.
There
is
no
other
concrete
point
to
look
forward
to
and
feel
comfort
in
its
distant
arrival
and
I.
Think
that
is
kind
of
terrifying,
but
it
also
gives
us
the
beautiful
chance
to
grow
into
something
truly
special
I
hope
you
flourish
wherever
life
may
take.
G
G
C
Good
evening,
everyone
I
hope
the
night
has
been
treating
you
all
kindly
and
I
hope
that
the
past
year
has
as
well.
I
could
stand
up
here
forever,
thanking
all
my
biggest
influences,
my
family
and
its
entirety.
My
friends,
my
teachers,
my
counselors,
my
peers,
but
instead
I'll
present
my
accumulated
knowledge
as
a
poet
and
begin
with
a
poem
I
wrote,
I
titled
it
this
is
there
the
thing
about
people
is
they
endure
and
memories
and
lifetimes.
The
secrets
that
slept
in
your
breath
remain
in
the
roots
of
already
grown
trees.
C
C
We
wonder
where
we're
going
as
the
Earth
wears
itself
down,
maybe
to
the
end,
maybe
to
each
other
both
ways
red
and
filled
with
Boulders
immovable
nothing
matters
when
we
stand
on
Bedrock
beneath
a
cascading
waterfall,
a
cliff
hanging
above
us,
its
smells
of
sickness
and
irreparable
losses
at
once.
We
learn
that
violence
cannot
be
outran
at
silence.
It
becomes
apparent
in
classrooms
and
kitchens
car
rides
at
night.
Speeding
through
a
yellow
brakes,
torn
out,
replaced
with
goals
and
expectations.
C
C
C
There
is
only
becoming
we
don't
flourish
in
adversity,
but
through
it
we
have
always
been
buds
preparing
to
mature,
and
this
night
is
perhaps
our
first
or
second
or
fifth
or
tenth
bloom
in
our
lifetimes.
If
there
is
anything
our
class
has
proven
it's
that
nothing
can
stop
us
if
anything,
I'm,
not
quite
sure.
If
we
know
when
to
stop
I
know
that
even
without
a
pandemic,
we
would
have
made
it
to
this
Coliseum,
but
I
think
that
every
single
loss
we've
gone
through
every
painful
moment.
C
F
C
And
much
much
more
love,
I'm,
proud
to
say
that
tonight
we
all
Bloom
together
and
this
Garden
of
rejuvenating
flowers
of
knowledge
and
growth
and
passion
and
hard
work
and
talent
and
Endless
Possibilities
I
wish
you
all
kindness
and
love
in
the
future.
I
wish
you
all
happiness
and
success
come
rain
showers
or
sunny
days.
