A
My
name
is
Elle
Duncan
and
I
work
at
ESPN
and
I'm
gonna
leave
here
and
go
straight
to
sports
center,
but
it
was
so
important
for
me
to
be
here
to
mark
this
momentous
day
in
the
city
of
Boston
and
I,
told
everybody
before
we
come
out
here
that
the
wind
would
be
a
problem
right
and
sometimes
the
wind
blows
in
a
way
that
makes
you
look
like
Beyonce,
and
sometimes
the
wind
blows
like
this,
and
you
look
crazy,
so
there'll
be
a
lot
of
that
happening.
A
I,
don't
know
if
any
of
you
know,
but
I
used
to
live
in
Boston
a
few
years
back,
I
worked
at
neston
and
I
covered
the
Celtic
Shadow
Brad,
Stevens,
hey
and
the
Red
Sox,
and
the
Bruins
and
the
Patriots
fans,
okay,
I
assumed
and
one
of
the
things
that
always
stood
out
to
me
about
Boston
is
the
history
and
you
all
know
the
history
of
sports
in
Boston,
but
I
think
that's
less
familiar
to
people
is
the
history
of
female
sports
of
women's
sports.
A
In
Boston
it
was
the
advocacy
of
Boston
institutions
that
helped
push
Title
IX
forward
over
50
years
ago.
It
was
here
that
Catherine
Switzer
in
1967
boldly
and
brazenly
decided
to
be
the
first
woman
to
run
the
Boston
Marathon.
It
was
here
where
bu
became
among
the
first
colleges
in
the
country
to
put
a
women's
rowing
program.
A
Ear
Boston
is
the
home
of
so
many
amazing
leaders
and
Visionaries
in
the
fight
for
women's
equity,
in
particular,
in
sports
and
now
I
get
to
be
a
humble
participant
in
the
celebration
of
what
is
going
to
be
the
next
great
franchise
here
in
the
city
of
Boston,
the
Boston
Unity
soccer
club.
Let's
go
and
because
it
is
such
a
momentum
occasion
we're
going
to
get
the
program
started
with
someone.
You
know
very
well
to
officially
welcome
this
new
franchise
from
the
national
women's
soccer
league.
B
I
am
so
excited
to
see
everyone
out
here
today
to
finally
be
at
this
moment
with
superstars,
here
Trailblazers
and
a
number
of
different
fronts
from
journalism
to
every
franchise
in
our
city,
representing
every
bit
of
the
devotion
and
fanaticism
that
Boston
holds
up
as
a
National
Standard
and
how
we
support
cheer
on
and
participate
with,
alongside
our
teams
and
all
that
means
to
our
identity.
B
As
a
city,
the
city
of
Champions
I
want
to
recognize
some
of
my
colleagues
in
public
service
who
are
here
as
well,
so
give
a
shout
and
then
I.
If
I,
if
I
don't
see,
someone
raise
your
hand
and
I'll
I'll
try
to
make
sure
I
recognize.
I
was
I've
been
informed.
That
city
council
president
Ed
Flynn
is
here
City
councilor
at
large
Roots
illusion.
B
State
representative
Chris
Worrell,
is
in
the
house,
I
saw
she
was
passing
by
and
couldn't
stay
but
sent
all
of
her.
Her
cheers
and
excitement
as
well.
Our
attorney
general
Andrea
Campbell
was
here.
B
Okay,
who
am
I
missing,
is
rep
Holmes
here
state
representative,
Russell
Holmes
a
great
partner
as
well.
Thank
you
thank
you
and,
of
course,
with
the
equivalent
of
those
who
are
are
leading
our
city
and
and
really
holding
us
together.
Every
bit
of
our
heartstrings.
Many
of
the
the
leadership
of
our
other
sports
franchises
in
the
city
of
Boston
Rich
got
them
from
the
Celtics
Don
Sweeney
from
the
Bruins
Brian
vallello
from
the
Rev
revs,
as
well
as,
of
course
Brad
Stevens
and
Tracy
Stevens,
who
are
here.
B
And
we're
here
also
with
the
PowerHouse
women
who
made
this
happen
in
the
beginning,
the
ownership
group
represented
up
on
stage
by
this
all
women
team,
Jennifer,
Epstein,
Stephanie,
conaughton,
Amy,
danoff,
Anna
Palmer.
Thank
you
for
believing
in
our
city.
Thank
you
for
believing
what
in
what
is
possible
for
the
young
people
of
our
city
and
for
bringing
us
all
together
to
make
sure
that
we
could
go
after
this
opportunity
in
the
way
that
only
Boston
would
with
full
hearts
and
and
a
lot
of
excitement.
B
And
I
see
Linda
Henry
here
too.
Thank
you,
so
much
Linda
for
all
that
you
do
making
sure
that
our
city
is
informed
and
also
on
the
family
front,
making
sure
that
we
are
the
green
monster
in
every
way
for
Boston
and
just
give
it
give
a
wave
if
you're,
a
part
of
and
invested
in
and
help
make
this
effort
happen
through
being
part
of
Boston,
Unity
or
another
in
other
part
of
the
effort.
So
far.
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
B
This
moment
is
a
bit
of
history
for
all
of
us
here
in
Boston.
B
All
of
us
in
Boston
are
excited
to
bring
that
same
energy
and
love
and
passion
to
our
new
nwsl
team.
Thank
you
so
much,
commissioner
Berman
for
standing
up
and
coming
to
our
city
and
working
through
this
whole
process
with
us
to
make
sure
that
we
could
do
it
right
and
do
it
in
a
way.
That's
never
been
done
before.
B
Just
so
thankful
that
this
ownership
group
approached
the
city
to
make
sure
we
could
launch
this
in
a
way
that
would
make
history
in
a
way
that
would
bring
people
in
and
in
a
way
that
would
have
lasting
impact,
and
so
everything
that
we're
doing
we're
we're
doing
together
and
most
of
all,
we're
so
excited
that
Boston
will
have
a
new
set
of
role
models
and
a
new
set
of
Partners
in
making
sure
that
the
future
of
our
city
is
bright
and
as
strong.
Thank
you
so
much
for
everyone
for
being
here.
A
Thank
you
so
much
mayor
Wu
by
the
way,
I
see
a
group
of
young.
Ladies
in
the
back,
it
looks
like.
Are
you
guys
a?
Are
you
a
soccer
team?
Hey
just
a
reminder
right
of
why
we're
doing
this?
Why
we're
here
and
who
this
is
for
every
good
announcement?
Maybe
this
is
just
my
impartiality.
Being
in
television
comes
with
a
highlight
reel
right,
it's
Sports,
and
so
before
we
bring
up
the
controlling
partner
for
the
Boston
Unity
soccer.
Partners
I
would
like
to
share
with
you
just
a
little
video
to
get
you
ready.
A
A
So
is
the
New
Boston
team
going
to
come
with
a
drum
line
too?
No
we'll
talk
about
it
all
right,
cool
and
with
that
just
to
help
you
fill
in
some
more
details,
timelines
why
it's
coming
the
excitement
behind
it?
I'd
love
to
bring
up
now
the
controlling
partner
for
Boston
Unity
soccer
Partners,
the
founding
team
investment
team.
Behind
this
new
franchise,
Jennifer
Epstein.
C
Okay,
hadn't
entirely
prepared
for
the
wind
so
and
I'm
fairly
new
at
something
like
this,
so
bear
with
me,
but
thank
you
so
much
Al
for
the
introduction
and
thank
you
mayor
Wu.
It's
truly
an
honor
to
be
here
with
you
today.
We
are
humbled
by
your
tireless
efforts
and
grateful
for
all
that
you
do
to
enhance
the
lives
of
all
bostonians.
C
C
C
Some
of
my
fondest
childhood
memories
when
I
wasn't
playing
sports
were
watching
our
teams
win
and,
of
course,
sometimes
lose.
I
was
an
enormous
Celtics
and
Bruins
fan
from
a
very
young
age
when
I
had
to
go
to
bed
before
a
game
ended
which
I
was
always
very
unhappy
about.
My
father
would
hand
draw
his
version
of
the
Boston
Globe
sports
page
and
leave
it
on
my
bedroom
floor.
C
We
feel
personally
connected
to
our
athletes,
because
what
happens
on
the
field
and
the
courts
and
the
ice
it
matters
to
all
of
us.
The
little
girl
who
had
to
go
to
bed
before
the
game
ended
and
the
dad
who
stayed
up.
So
he
would
recap
the
highlights
for
her.
The
LA.
This
lasting
camaraderie
camaraderie
is
one
of
the
things
that
makes
Boston
the
world-class
sports
city
that
it
is.
C
In
a
complex,
World,
Sports
can
really
be
a
connector
of
communities.
I
think
that's!
You
know
really
fundamentally
part
of
our.
Why,
as
an
ownership
group,
Sports
bring
people
together
and
unify
them
around
a
common
purpose,
Sports
create
meaningful
intergenerational
connections
and
transcend
gender
race
and
economics.
The
Bruins
Celtics
Red
Sox
Patriots,
the
revs.
These
are
our
teams
in
this
city.
Sports
are
like
family.
We
come
together
to
love
them
to
celebrate
them.
We
suffer
with
them.
We
commiserate
and
even
sometimes
critique
them.
C
B
C
C
C
You
really
truly
made
us
feel
like
we
are
all
on
the
same
team
heading
toward
the
same
goal,
and
thank
you,
commissioner,
Jessica
Berman
for
your
support,
your
guidance
and
your
faith
in
us
and
in
the
city
of
Boston.
We
look
forward
to
that.
Post-Game
celebration.
When
you
hand
us
the
trophy,
when
you
hand
it
to
Boston.
C
Most
of
all,
I
want
to
recognize
our
amazing
ownership
group,
who
has
come
together
as
one
to
pursue
this
shared
dream
for
our
city.
Please
join
me
in
acknowledging
these
daring,
tenacious
Innovative
women
standing
by
my
side,
Stephanie
connaughton,
Amy,
quandanov,
Anna
Palmer.
Each
of
you
has
been
instrumental
in
getting
us
to
this
moment
and
I
look
forward
to
working
together
as
we
continue
to
Define
our
path
forward.
C
I
also
want
to
thank
and
acknowledge
the
rest
of
our
investor
group,
many
of
whom
have
joined
us
here
today.
I
see
you
out
there
I.
Thank
you.
I
am
proud
to
be
part
of
an
ownership
group
where
95
of
the
invested
Capital
was
invested
by
women
and
40
percent
was
invested
by
investors
of
color.
This
is
a
unique
statistic
in
professional
sports.
C
The
collective
experience
and
expertise
amongst
this
group
gives
me
the
utmost
confidence
that
this
Venture
will
be
a
success
along
with
the
world
class
athletes
on
the
field.
We
strive
to
create
a
club
of
strong
women
who
will
be
role
models
for
our
youth
and
thank
you
to
our
players
here
in
the
back
road
I
think
it's
Boston,
Latin,
Academy,
suck
Varsity
soccer
team
here
and
I
know.
We
have
some
players,
part
of
soccer
Unity
project
who
are
here
with
us
today
too.
C
C
C
C
C
C
C
A
A
Thank
you
so
much
when
I
tell
you.
This
ownership
group
is
so
incredibly
passionate
about
this
team.
I
had
the
pleasure
of
spending
time
with
Amy
over
the
summer,
and
she
just
couldn't
be
more
excited
for
this.
For
this
franchise
to
come
here
to
the
great
city
of
Boston,
I
couldn't
be
more
excited
to
bring
up
someone
who
is
certainly
incredibly
busy,
as
she
is
spearheading
Monumental
change
in
the
National
Women's
Soccer
League.
Please
give
a
round
of
applause
for
nwsl.
Commissioner
Jessica
Berman.
D
Thank
you
so
much,
and
what
an
incredible
honor
to
be
here
and
many
of
you
may
have
been
following
the
national
women's
soccer
league
and
the
transformative
growth
that
we've
experienced
in
the
last
18
months
since
I.
Had
the
great
privilege
of
stepping
into
the
commissioner
role
has
been
nothing
short
of
amazing
and
I
have
also
had
the
privilege
of
awarding
not
one,
not
two,
but
three
expansion
teams
in
18
months.
D
I,
don't
know
that
that
will
ever
happen
in
the
future
and
I'm
not
sure
I'd
wish
it
on
us
for
the
future,
because
we're
trying
to
keep
up
with
all
the
demands
around
us
because
we're
clearly
making
up
for
lost
time.
The
demand
for
women's
sports
is
here.
It
is
knocking
down
our
doors
and
we
couldn't
be
more
excited
about
the
future.
D
Sports
teams
are
Community
assets
and
when
done
right,
they
reflect
the
values
of
their
community.
In
every
step
of
the
journey
which
began
in
summer
of
2022,
this
ownership
group
led
by
Jennifer
Epstein
Stephanie
connaughton,
Amy,
danoff
and
Anna
Palmer
brought
their
values
to
the
Forefront
of
this
bed.
D
They
have
been
gritty,
passionate
and
Relentless
in
their
Pursuit
on
behalf
of
this
city,
to
bring
a
women's
professional
soccer
team
to
Boston
and
I
think
we
can
all
agree
that
those
are
the
values
that
reflect
the
values
of
this
community
and
we
know,
will
continue
to
be
on
display
in
all
the
ways
in
which
this
team
is
brought
to
life
between
now
and
2026.
And
when
we
launch
the
season
for
your
inaugural
debut,
it
will
be
those
values
that
ignite
the
fandom
and
support
from
this
great
City.
D
That
being
said,
it
is
not
only
the
values
of
an
ownership
group
and
the
community
that
create
the
ingredients
for
a
successful
franchise.
It
is
the
history
and
connection
to
the
sport
as
we
know,
and
it's
been
referenced.
There
have
been
two
prior
iterations
of
professional
women's
soccer
in
this
city.
D
Those
teams,
inability
to
be
successful
was
not
because
of
the
players
and
not
because
of
the
opportunity,
their
iconic
talent
and
greatness
was
unable
to
shine
because
the
world
wasn't
ready
for
it.
The
state
of
the
league
today
is
ready
for
it
and
we
can't
wait
to
embrace
their
greatness
in
this
great
City.
D
D
Choosing
cities
and
owners
who
join
our
league
is
one
of
the
responsibilities
as
commissioner
that
I
cherish
most
greatly.
This
city
has
set
a
new
standard
of
what
it
means
to
demonstrate
partnership
on
behalf
of
a
community
and
I
look
forward
to
celebrating
this
here
and
in
other
places,
not
just
around
our
country,
but
globally.
It
is
my
absolute
privilege
and
honor
to
award
the
15th
team
to
of
the
national
women's
soccer
league
to
the
city
of
Boston
Welcome
to
the
nwsl.
A
A
All
right
to
join
us
now,
I
thought
one
more
apropos
to
welcome
in
a
new
franchise
to
the
great
city
of
Boston
than
the
man
that
spearheads
the
most
winningest
NBA
franchise
of
all
time,
and
he
is
also
along
with
his
wife
Tracy,
an
investor
in
the
brand
new
Boston
Unity
soccer
team.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
president
of
basketball,
operations
for
the
Boston
Celtics
Brad
Stevens.
E
Oh
thanks
I,
we're
really
excited
to
be
here
today
and
obviously
when
we
got
the
call
that
this
was
even
in
the
works
or
being
considered
for
Jennifer,
it
was
something
that
Tracy
and
I
jumped
on.
E
You
know
in
anything
we're
doing
to
give
our
kids
something
to
really
aspire
to
and
to
look
to
and
this
no
no
better
feeling
than
to
be
a
part
of
a
group
where
our
14
year
old
daughter,
can
go
and
watch
her
idols
on.
Is
it
on
the
pitch
right?
I
got
the
pitch
part
right
and
also
see
and
have
exposure
to
opportunities
to
continually
increase
opportunities
for
women
and
also
coaching
training,
the
different
things
that
go
on
in
managing
and
orchestrating
and
running
a
team.
All
of
that's
really
important
to
us.
E
A
You
mentioned
Brad,
just
you
know,
watching
people
grow
up
in
the
next
generation
of
soccer
players.
We've
got
them
here
in
attendance
and
being
able
to
watch
their
Heroes
and
I
was
fangirling
a
little
bit
as
I
bring
up
our
our
next
speaker,
because
she
was
one
of
those
people
for
me
growing
up
in
sports
Who
Loved
Sports.
She
spent
23
years
on
the
U.S
women's
national
team,
and
she
is
still
the
most
capped
player
in
the
history
of
the
sport.
F
This
would
be
amazing,
but
it
is
amazing
and
on
so
many
fronts,
I
first
moved
to
Boston
in
2001
to
play
in
the
women's
professional
League,
the
wsa
when
we
had
the
first
League
that
started
and
I
can
tell
you
that
being
born
in
New,
York
and
then
moving
to
Boston
was
a
little
bit
of
a
shocker,
but
the
fans
and
the
support
that
we
got
back
then
was
amazing
and
to
be
a
professional
athlete
in
the
Boston
was
something
I
always
dreamed
about.
F
F
But
this
is
amazing
and
I
just
want
to
thank
this
group
of
women
over
here,
for
this
I've
been
a
part
of
the
early
years
of
growing
the
game
and
to
see
where
the
game
is
at
right.
Now
is
unbelievable,
going
from
the
2015
World
Cup
to
the
2019,
World
Cup
and
then
2023
World
Cup,
the
change
in
the
game
and
the
growth
of
the
game
has
been
phenomenal
and
that's
due
to
the
players,
it's
doing
it
to
the
investment
behind
the
women's
game,
it's
doing
to
the
media
and
the
fans.
F
That's
what
makes
the
Game
grow
and
that's
what
we're
going
to
need
here
in
Boston
in
2026
we're
going
to
need
the
the
ownership
to
put
a
team
out
there,
but
then
we're
gonna
need
you
guys
to
come
out
to
support
it
and
that's
when
that's
what's
going
to
make
the
difference
here
and
I
know
you
can
do
it
because
we've
done
it
for
all
the
teams
here.
So
thank
you
again
for
letting
me
be
a
part
of
this
and
let's
go
Boston.
A
All
right,
so,
how
are
we
feeling
we
feeling
ready?
Are
we
feeling
good?
You
know
it's
not
official
until
you
do
a
ceremonial
something
right.
Sometimes
it's
ribbon
cutting
or
it's
a
ceremonial
first
pitch,
but
it
is
soccer,
so
it
would
be
the
ceremonial
Christine.
What
would
it
be?
A
ceremonial
kick
so
what
we're
going
to
do
now
is
welcome
everybody
to
where's
the
pitch
over
here.
So
wave
your
hand
over
here.
A
A
Fantastic
guys,
that's
gonna,
do
it
for
the
on
stage
portion
of
the
event.
Thank
you
all
so
much
for
coming
and
for
your
time
there
will
be
a
skills
demonstration
from
the
great
Christine
Lily,
so
I'm,
hoping
that
all
of
our
amazing
soccer
clubs
will
come
over
and,
of
course,
there
will
be
media
opportunities
and
interviews
as
well
at
the
step
and
repeat
so
we're
not
going
anywhere
we're
just
not
going
to
be
on
the
stage
anymore
and
I'm.
Gonna
go
run
to
SportsCenter
and
tell
everyone
what
I
saw
here
today.
