From YouTube: Billings Field Design Meeting #2 02-01-2023
Description
Date: February 1, 2023
A
Foreign,
that
is
a
great
handy
notification.
We
are
going
to
be
recording
this
meeting
tonight,
we're
going
to
post
it
on
our
project
page
so
that
if
you
go
want
to
go
back.
B
A
Or
if
you
want
to
share
the
meeting
with
some
friends
who
weren't
able
to
make
it,
this
will
be
available
in
a
day
or
two
a
couple
days,
so
just
wanted
to
say
hello
and
welcome
everybody.
My
name
is
B
Chatfield
and
I
am
the
parks
department,
project
manager
for
the
improvements
to
Billings
field
project.
This
is
our
second
community
meeting
and
we
had
our
first
one.
A
couple
months
ago
we
had
a
great
turnout.
We
had
a
fantastic
response
to
our
follow-up
survey,
which
we
managed
to
literally
reach
hundreds
of
people.
A
So
it's
been,
it's
been
great
participation
and
we
are
forever
grateful
to
this
community
for
providing
all
of
this
wonderful
feedback,
because
I
think
it's
going
to
result
in
a
design
that
really
reflects
what
your
priority
these
are.
So
if
we
can
go
on
to
the
next
quick
page
right
here,
we've
got
some
Zoom
tips
for
those
of
you
who
are
not
accustomed
to
using
Zoom,
please
you
know
you
can
keep
your
camera
off.
A
If
you
want
to,
please
keep
your
mic
off
during
the
presentation
and
then
at
the
end
of
the
presentation,
we're
going
to
be
having
a
q
a
session,
so
our
designers
are
going
to
share
the
design
and
then
we'll
have
a
community
conversation
at
the
end.
Where
you
can
talk
about,
you
know
what
you
like,
what
you
didn't
like
any
questions
that
you've
had
at
that
point.
You
raise
your
hand.
Christine
will
allow
you
to
unmute
yourself
and
you
can
go
from
there.
So,
let's
go
on
to
the
next
side.
A
Here
is
our
agenda
for
tonight
we're
going
to
talk
about
the
project
team
and
the
project
goals.
What
we
heard
at
meet
in
one
and
we
get
to
look
at
the
Design
Concepts,
that
our
design
team
has
pulled
together,
have
some
listening
and
discussion
and
then
some
closing
remarks
and
next
steps
to
the
next
slide.
A
So
next
slide
project
team
and
goals-
I
am
B.
Chatfield
here
is
all
of
my
contact
information.
This
is
my
email
and
my
phone
number
please
get
in
touch.
If
you
have
any
questions,
any
comments,
anything
you
say
tonight
is
considered.
You
know
part
of
the
record,
but
also
anything
that
you
email
to
me
as
well
is
considered
participation
and
feedback.
So
if
you're
not
comfortable
speaking
up
tonight,
please
feel
free
to
just
get
in
touch
afterwards.
No
big
deal
Christine
brandeo
is
she
is
driving
our
Zoom
meeting
tonight.
She
is
our
Outreach
coordinator.
A
C
A
To
the
next
slide
here
we
are
our
project
schedule.
You
can
see.
We
had
our
first
meeting
back
in
October.
We
shared
our
site
analysis
and
listened
to
feedback
from
you
guys
to
hear
what
you
were
looking
for,
what
what
issues
you
saw
existing
with
the
field
that
we
could
perhaps
correct
in
our
new
in
our
new
design.
Here
we
are
in
February
with
community
meeting
two
and
we
are
hoping
that
in
April
we
can
share
the
final
design.
A
That
would
mean
that
we
go
into
permitting
in
September,
go
out
to
bid
in
November,
which
would
mean
we
could
technically
start
construction
in
the
spring.
But
we
understand
that
Billings
is
a
highly
used
active
Recreation
place,
and
so
we
would
want
to
make
room
for
the
spring
ball
games.
All
of
those
permits
that
happen.
So
we
probably
start
construction
in
the
summer
2024..
A
Our
current
design
budget
is
500
000,
but
we've
just
gone
through
the
most
recent
round
of
budgeting
with
the
city
and
we
have
applied
before
we.
We
have
potentially
four
million
and
we
we
are
looking
to
get
more
for
the
design
that
we're
proposing.
Here.
We
have
some
rough
ideas
just
from
our
first
meeting
of
what
that
could
cost,
so
we're
proceeding
with
a
flexible
budget,
but
I
think
we
are
putting
in
enough
that
we'll
be
able
to
handle
a
lot
of
various
requests.
So
next
slide.
Please.
A
So
here
is
the
diagram
of
our
priorities
that
we're
all
trying
to
balance
with
our
community
design
projects.
We've
got
the
city
of
Boston
priorities.
We
pay
attention
to
safety
and
Regulatory
guidelines.
We
have
Community
input,
we
take
the
Parks
and
Recreation
goals
into
account,
and
then
we
blend
it
all
together
and
come
up
with
a
great
Park
design
which
our
Park
designers
contribute
towards.
So
you
can
see
it's
a
balancing
act,
not
any
one
of
these
things
other
than
maybe
safety
and
Regulatory
guidelines.
A
We
have
to
follow
those,
but
all
of
these
things
are
considered
sort
of
pieces
of
input.
So
tonight
is
one
of
those
pieces,
and
you
know
we
balance
that
with
our
goals,
City
goals,
guidelines
Etc,
so
just
a
quick
diagram
to
explain
our
process
next
slide.
Please
all
right!
So
I
am
going
to
pass
the
presentation
off
to
the
design
team.
A
If
you
have
questions
as
we
go,
I
think
I
forgot
to
mention
this
before,
but
feel
free
to
just
put
them
in
the
chat
and
if
they're
technical
questions
we
can,
one
of
us
will
just
respond
to
them
as
we
go.
Otherwise,
we'll
save
it
for
the
conversation
at
the
end,
Okay
so
I
think
it's
going
to
be
in
that
soul
from
Western
Samson.
If
you
want
to
take
it
away.
D
Great,
thank
you
B,
thank
you
and
thanks
everybody
for
coming
tonight,
or
at
least
virtually
we're.
Gonna
show
two
slides
here
from
our
previous
presentation.
D
Just
to
recap
the
analysis
just
recapping
the
sort
of
existing
state
of
the
field
here,
so
we
have
the
the
the
three
ball
fields
in
the
center.
One
thing
to
notice
is
that
there's
a
lot
of
overlap
with
those
outfields,
and
so
that's
something
that
we're
looking
at
the
there's
the
perimeter
path
again
there's,
but
the
perimeter
path
doesn't
go
all
the
way
around
the
perimeter
there's
several
entries,
although
there's
only
one
accessible
entry
at
the
moment.
D
So
that's
also
something
that
we're
looking
at
the
the
fencing
around
the
fence
or
around
the
field
is
not
in
great
shape,
which
we'll
be
considering
that
and
then
three
of
the
feel
three
of
the
courts.
There
are
the
half
court
and
two
basketball
courts
were
recently
resurfaced
and
then
there's
the
three
existing
tennis
courts,
which
are
which
are
older,
and
we
have
this
behind
those
up
on
the
slope.
In
the
Woodland
area
we
have
a
series
of
informal
trails
and
which
we'll
talk
a
little
bit
about.
D
D
So,
where
you'll
see
we're
trying
to
preserve
that
sense
in
these,
in
the
concepts
that
we're
proposing
and
I
think,
that's
all
the
that's
all
the
comments
that
sort
of
all
the
existing
elements.
I
think
that
we
wanted
to
address
yeah.
Thank
you.
D
So
we
then
did
a
tree
Health
analysis.
After
the
community
meeting,
there
was
a
lot
of
expression
of
interest
in
the
Woodland
area
and
whether
there
was
anything
we
could
do
there.
So
we
did
have
an
arborist
come
and
Survey
the
whole
field
and
give
us
assessments
for
all
the
all
the
tree,
health,
and
so
what
you're
seeing
here
is
we're
just
highlighting
the
individual
trees
sort
of
around
the
perimeter
of
the
park
and
their
health.
D
We
have
a
separate
report
for
the
wooded
area,
there's
several
removals
that
will
be
needed
in
that
area
to
to
clean
it
up
for
the
health
of
the
Woodland
and
for
for
safety,
but
we'll
we're
considering
a
significant
tree
planting
program,
given
the
number
of
poor.
You
know,
trees
in
poor
health
around
the
edge
of
the
park,
so
I
think
that's
enough
about
the
sort
of
existing
conditions.
D
D
We
got
592
responses
to
the
online
survey,
which
was
fantastic.
That's
a
lot
more
than
than
we
often
get
so
we
got
sixty
percent
of
respondents
using
the
park
weekly
15
daily.
So
there's
a
essentially
everybody
who
is
responding
is
you
know,
pretty
familiar
with
the
park
and
then
what
are
the
current
activities
or
features
that
are
most
important
to
you
so
on
this
slide?
That
was.
D
That
was
a
series
of
options
that
you
were
then
ranked
and
so
out
of
those
rankings,
the
number
one
response
was
play
for
kids,
so,
kids
being
essentially,
you
know
Elementary
School,
teen
and
then
softball.
It
was
a
close
second
with
followed
by
baseball
play
for
toddlers
and
then
basketball,
rounded
out
the
top
five
there
and
then
tennis
was
a
was
a
close
six
and
then
so.
D
Community
Gathering
space
coming
in
seven
was
the
first
item
that
was
not
essentially,
it
was
not
clearly
account
accommodated
in
the
existing
Park.
In
terms
of
you
know,
there's
no
real.
You
know
formal
Gathering
space
in
the
in
the
park
as
it
exists
now,
so
that
was
one
of
the
first
things
that
we
were
looking
at
to
to
include
and
then
soccer.
So
we're
we're
going
to
maintain
that
sort
of
multi-use
field
in
some
configuration
walking
so
we're.
D
We
looked
as
I
mentioned
before
we're
looking
at
closing
that
Loop
and
creating
a
real
Walking
Loop
within
the
park,
and
then
football
Fitness,
dog
walking
and
then
Quiet
Retreat.
So
you
know
you
can't
you
can't
make
a
park,
that's
everything
to
everybody,
but
you
know
we.
We
think
we
can
address
most
of
these
comments,
so
what
other
activities
or
facilities
would
you
like
to
see
in
the
park?
This
was
a.
This
was
not
multiple
choice.
D
Folks
entered
in
their
answers
here,
so
existing
Field
improvements
came
into
number
one
and
then
bathrooms
came
in
as
number
two.
It's
I
think
it's
worth
noting
here
that
the
bathroom
the
fish,
the
building,
is
actually
not
run
by
parks,
and
so
we
can.
We
can't
do
anything
with
the
building
itself
as
part
of
this
project,
but
I
think
we
are
talking
with
B.
Do
you
wanna
yeah.
A
A
We're
it's
it's
one
of
our
facilities,
but
other
other
folks
are
using
this
space
for
various
purposes,
and
you
know
we're
trying
to
understand
that
a
little
bit
better
and
figure
out
a
way
that
we
can
have
the
bathrooms
be
more
utilized
and
more
open
to
the
public,
because
right
now
we
understand
that
yeah,
it's
not
particularly
functional
people
in
the
park,
want
to
use
the
bathrooms
and,
like
maybe
sometimes
they're
open,
but
most
of
the
time
they're.
Not
so
we
are
working
on
that.
A
I
also
wanted
to
talk
a
little
bit.
You
guys
can
see.
We've
got
street
hockey,
rinklisted
walking,
Loop,
enclosed
dog
park,
ball
fields
picnicking
these
wonderful
variety
of
different
contributions
that
people
thought
up
and
wrote
in
and
at
our
first
meeting
the
idea
of
a
dog
use
was,
you
know
it
was
pretty
clearly
supported
and
not
supported
right.
A
That
was
Apparent
at
the
beginning,
and
so
I
just
wanted
to
say
that
the
parks
department
recognizes
that
there
are
very
few
spaces
for
your
dog
to
run
around
within
the
city
of
Boston.
A
That
are,
you
know,
Community
spaces.
Our
Parks
really
in
the
past
have
not
accommodated
that
we
are
not
able,
at
this
point,
to
accommodate
the
shared
use
model
that,
like
example,
Brookline
has
where
you
know.
For
the
morning
hours
the
dogs
get
the
space
for
the
afternoon
hours.
The
sports
teams
get
the
space
that
requires
some
monitoring
and
some
enforcement
that
we
don't
have
from
a
staffing
perspective.
So
the
only
thing
that
we
are
able
and
willing
to
offer
as
far
as
dog
use
is
an
enclosed
dog
run.
A
So
that's
like
a
space
within
the
park
with
fencing,
and
you
know
we're
trying
right
now
to
put
these
spaces
into
Parks
into
communities
that
want
them
and
Billings
field
would
be
an
ideal
location
for
the
neighborhood
of
West
Roxbury.
The
idea
is
that
we
would
be
putting
in
one
dog
park
per
neighborhood
I'm
working
on
another
project
where
we
have
one
in
JP,
that's
going
in
and
West
Roxbury.
If
you
know,
if
you
guys
support
this
idea,
we
can
do
it.
A
So
one
of
the
designs
tonight
shows
where,
where
that
might
fit
in
so
I
just
wanted
to
say
you
know,
heads
up.
This
is
going
to
be
a
topic
that
we're
going
to
continue
to
discuss
and-
and
so
anyway,
that
was
those
are
my
contributions
for
the
survey
responses
I'm
going
to
pass
it
back
to
Matt.
D
And
it
might
also
be
worth
noting
that
be
the
question
about
artificial
turf.
A
Thank
you
yes,
so
there
was
a
lot
of
support
for
the
use
of
artificial
turf
for
the
survey
responses
and
as
of
now,
the
city
of
Boston
is
pretty
opposed
to
the
use
of
Synthetic
Turf,
and
so
you
know,
luckily
it's
not
a
design
element
that
is
really
difficult
to
like
add
in
and
if
you
know
we
get
word
as
this
design
proceeds
that
it's
something
that
we
can
do.
You
know
we've
heard
specifically
about
Synthetic
Turf
in
fields
that
would
extend
playing
time
for
softball
whoever's
using
it
right.
A
If
that
turns
out
to
be
little
league,
you
know,
but
at
this
point
we're
going
to
be
proceeding
with
no
Synthetic
Turf
and
if
that
changes
then
then
we
can
be
flexible
and
we
can
try
and
save
money
in
the
budget
for
that
kind
of
alternative.
But
for
now
that's
that's
not
a
direction
that
we're
going
to
be
going
in.
So
thanks
for
the
reminder
on
that.
D
No
problem
yeah
and
thanks
be
for
for
covering
all
that,
so
so
street
so
you'll
see
in
the
in
the
concepts
we
we
are.
D
D
D
Pickleball
is
an
easy
one
to
accommodate
by
re-striping
the
tennis
courts
or
adding
striping,
not
pre-striping,
but
just
adding
striping
we're
also
number
10.
There's
a
splash
pad
came
in
10th
and
so
we're
looking
at
adding
some
sort
of
water
element
for
kids
and
you'll.
See
that
in
the
concepts
excuse
me
and
then
you
know,
Community
Gathering
space,
so
creating
some
more
formal
Gathering
areas
and
then
playground
updates.
D
Finally,
and
so
we're
also
we,
we
will
be
looking
at
updating
the
playground
and
we
we
did
want
to
throw
in
just
a
some
of
the
comments
that
we
received
about
why
people
love
Billings,
because
it
was
just
nice
to
see
that
and
we
wanted
to
put
that
up
there
for
everyone
to
see
I
mean
we
feel
like
these
comments
are,
were
pretty
reflective
of
the
general
sentiment
Melissa.
You
can
go
to
the
next
one,
so
design
considerations
go
ahead.
So
these
are.
D
This
is
what
we're
trying
to
do
with
the
design,
and
we
wanted
to
list
these
out
for
everybody
at
the
start,
because
not
all
of
these
are
apparent
in
the
plants.
D
You
know
improved
drainage,
so
that's
number
one.
We
heard
that
loud
and
clear
that
the
the
fields
are,
you
know,
get
wet
too
often
you'll
see
in
one
version
that
we've
we're
creating
space
for
so
infiltration.
D
But
it's
not
that,
regardless
of
which
scheme
we
go
with
that,
you
know,
improved
drainage
will
be,
will
underlie
everything.
We
do
there
improve
accessibility
throughout
the
park.
D
That's
absolutely
something
we're
working
on
the
current
entrances,
repairing
the
stairs
at
Bellevue
Street,
adding
The
Continuous,
walking,
Loop
General
Ballfield
improvements,
we're
looking
at
improving
the
orientation
of
the
fields,
and
we
will
cover
what
that
means
in
a
minute,
as
well
as
improving
some
of
the
amenities
we
are
looking
at
in
both
versions
in
both
Concepts
we're
replacing
the
Little
League
field
with
a
softball
field.
D
That
was.
This
decision
was
vetted
through
discussion
with
the
little
league
and
softball
organizers.
D
That's
so
that
we
we
feel,
like
that's,
has
a
lot
of
support,
let's
say
providing
Gathering
spaces,
adding
accessible,
Play
Elements
as
part
of
the
the
playground
improvements
that
that'll
be
something
we're
doing.
Lighting
improvements.
D
Woodland
improvements
take
a
minute
just
to
talk
about
the
Woodland,
so
we
took
a
walk
through
the
Woodland
with
B.
After
the
we
had
the
arborists
survey,
all
the
trees,
so
each
tree
I,
don't
know
if
you
walk.
D
If
you
walk
around
you'll
see
that
each
tree
now
has
a
tag,
and
so
we
have
an
ID
tag
on
every
single
tree,
including
in
the
Woodland,
where
we
know
we
have
species
in
size
and
health
for
each
of
those
trees
in
the
Woodland
there's
a
significant
amount
of
trees
that
actually
need
to
be
removed.
D
We
took
a
walk
up
there
with
B
to
to
see
a
state
of
things,
and
it's
too
steep
to
improve
the
trails
through
there
it.
We
would
be
disturbing
too
much
too
many
existing
tree
routes
to
to
make
anything
to
make
it
Ada
accessible,
so
we're
what
instead,
what
we're
proposing
would
be
well
because
the
other,
the
other
thing
that
we
noticed
was
that
there's
barely
any
ground
cover.
D
It's
mostly
bare
soil
in
a
lot
of
places,
and
so
we
think
this
is
contributing
perhaps
to
the
drainage
problems
on
the
field,
because
that
water
is
hitting
that
slope
and
then
just
moving
down
down
over
the
wall
and
onto
the
fields,
so
removing
the
trees,
removing
unhealthy
trees
using
that
Lumber
to
create
horizontal.
D
What
you
sort
of
level
spreaders,
where
you
slow
the
water
down
and
also
reseeding
that
area
with
a
woodland
mix
so
that
it's
not
bare
soil
anymore.
So
that's
this.
These
improvements
would
be
more
about
Woodland,
Health
and
erosion,
control
and
drainage
control,
and
we
feel
like
that
is
the
best
option
that
we
can
in
order
to
improve
the
Woodland,
given
the
accessibility
issues
and
finally,
potential
new
elements.
D
So
we
already
talked
about
these
but
you'll,
see.
There's
several
Splash
Pad
locations
proposed
in
each
one,
a
street
hockey
rank
and
potentially
an
enclosed
dog
park.
D
You
can
go
to
the
next
one.
Thank
you
so
just
a
quick
word
about
sports
field
orientation,
so
we're
showing
here
a
compass
for
optimal
tolerable,
less
tolerable
orientations
for
a
ball
field,
and
so
the
above,
the
diamond
in
green.
That's
the
outline
of
the
of
Billings
field,
and
so
the
the
baseball
diamond
is
oriented
in
the
optimal
Direction
for
for
Billings
field.
So,
if
you're
familiar
with
the
park,
you'll
know
that
none
of
the
diamonds
actually
face
that
direction.
D
Right
they're
they're
facing
this
way
and
in
this
way,
and
this
and
this
way
so
we're
given
the
less
than
optimal
orientation
of
the
fields
and
the
amount
of
overlap
we
we're
trying
to.
We
took
a
pass
at
rearranging
the
fields
to
improve
some
of
the
orientation
and
to
lessen
that
overlap.
Foreign
thanks.
D
So
this
is
concept.
A
I
will
say
at
the
outset
that
this
is
not
an
A
or
B
question
that
when
we,
when
you
give
us
feedback
on
these
designs,
if
you
like
pieces
of
each
that's
fine-
and
you
know
the
the
final
version
can
be
a
mix-up
of
the
two
of
these.
D
This
is
not
an
A
or
B
choice,
so
in
concept
A,
which
we're
calling
the
Gathering
loops,
there's
we're
enhancing
the
two
entries
the
entry
on
the
left
hand,
side
off
of
LaGrange,
creating
a
formal
Plaza
and
there's
two
options
there
that
we're
considering
one
is
a
wooded
Plaza,
a
wooded
sort
of
paved
Plaza
and
the
other
could
be
just
entry,
an
event
lawn
that
could
be
ringed
by
trees
and
then,
at
the
opposite,
end
coming
off
of
down
the
stairs
from
Bellevue
and
by
the
YMCA
there's
a
similar,
smaller
paved
entry,
Plaza,
so
creating
more
formal
entries
for
the
park,
and
then
those
are
connected
by
two
Loops.
D
So
we're
continuing
the
walking
path
around
the
perimeter
and
then
we're
also
creating
an
interior
loop
around
the
the
ball
fields
and
so
that
that
loop
around
the
ball
fields,
you
would
utilize
the
existing
slope
to
move
through
these
two
terraced
seating
areas
that
would
be
concrete
seat
walls,
sort
of
going
down
that
soft
gentle
slope.
That
would
create
informal
seating
areas
for
those
two
softball
fields,
we're
also
above
those
between
the
the
terrorist
seating
and
the
wooded
Plaza.
D
There's
a
splash
pad
proposed
and
one
reason
for
that
location
would
be
the
proximity
to
the
Y
so
that
the
programs
there
don't
have
to
go
all
the
way
across
the
field
to
access
the
playground.
There's
a
place.
There's
a
summer
play
facility
for
them
closer
to
YMCA.
D
Yes,
thank
you
street
hockey
and
then
at
the
opposite,
just
to
stay
on
the
the
the
play
facilities
for
a
moment,
the
opposite
corner.
Both
both
options,
keep
the
existing
playground,
footprint
and
expand.
It
somewhat
we're
not
proposing
moving
the
playground,
but
we
would
upgrade
some
of
the
equipment
and
extend
it.
D
The
splash
pad
I
can
answer
that
question
right
now
about
the
splash
pad
the
splash
pad
flooding
the
fields
this
Splash
Pad
is,
would
essentially
be
a
bowl,
that's
sort
of
enclosed
and
there's
significant
group
there's
it
would
be
up
above
those
softball
fields,
and
so
all
of
the
all
of
the
sort
of
water
from
there
is
will
be
recycled
and
sort
of
recirculated
within
the
splash
pad,
and
so
all
that
water
is
captured,
it's
not
running
off
of
the
splash
pad
running
downhill,
and
then
we-
and
so
we're
we
did
not
hear
in
terms
of
what's
in
purple.
D
I
should
have
noted
so
what's
in
purple
is
existing
to
remain
so.
We
we
didn't
hear
from
folks
that
you
know
that
the
basketball
fields
or
the
basketball
courts
excuse
me
were
in
the
wrong
place
or
the
tennis
courts
were
in
the
wrong
place.
So
we
didn't
feel
that
it
was
worth
the
investment
in
moving
them
or
reorganizing
them,
so
we're
leaving
the
basketball
courts
and
tennis
courts
in
place
and
resurfacing
as
necessary
and
then
finally,
the
hockey
rink
the
street
hockey
rink
would
be
located
where
the
turnaround
currently
is
located.
D
So
it
would
be
at
the
same
elevation
as
that
last
tennis
court,
with
the
one
One
path
behind
it
at
the
same
level
and
then
the
other
path
on
the
slope
below
it,
and
so
what
we're?
Keeping
all
of
the
we're?
D
Keeping
the
spine
of
active
uses,
adding
the
hockey
rink
to
this
spine
of
active
uses,
putting
a
Splat
putting
a
splash
pad
over
by
the
YMCA
expanding
the
playground
on
the
other
end
and
then
creating
these
formal
entries
the
corners
and
then
the
the
formal
entries
we
think
is
part
of
the
the
tree
planting
scheme.
We
would
introduce
more
trees
at
those
corners
to
bring
the
Woodland
down
into
the
park
more
so
that
and
enhance
the
feeling
of
this
of
the
fields.
Being
this
large
open
space
with
shaded
shaded
Corners.
D
One
thing
we
did
notice
when
we
were
there
in
July.
Is
that
there's
not
a
lot
of
shade
in
the
you
know
in
the
field
overall,
and
so
we
think
that's
something
that's
something
we
want
to
bring
in
so
I
think
we
can
move
on
to
opt
to
concept,
B,
so
concept.
B
is
the
working
backwards
talking
about
the
the
tree
planting
scheme.
D
So
here
the
trees
ring
the
entire
perimeter
of
the
the
fields
the
and
then
there
because
of
the
Orient
where
so
here
we're
keeping
the
The
Babe
Ruth
field
in
its
current
location,
whereas
before
actually,
if
you
flip
back
Melissa,
yeah
I
should
have
I
should
have
spoken
about
the
the
fields.
So
the
remove
the
Babe
Ruth
field,
both
versions
propose
demoing,
removing
the
old
bleachers
that
are
currently
behind
the
Babe
Ruth.
D
They
they're,
really
sort
of
I
have
outlived
their
usefulness
and
they
take
up
a
lot
of
room.
At
this
point,
and
if
we
remove,
if
we
move
the
Babe
Ruth
field
and
remove
the
stands,
we
can
reduce
the
amount
of
overlap
between
the
ball
fields
and
improve
the
orientation
of
the
of
the
fields
and
so
you'll
see
it
when
we
go
to
the
other
thing
that
this
allows
is
for
this
interior
path
between
the
fields
and
the
tennis
and
basketball
courts.
D
If
we
go
to
the
next
slide,
you'll
see
that
keeping
the
Babe
Ruth
field
in
place
really
creates
a
pinch
point
along
those
along
the
existing
courts
and
doesn't
really
allow
for
a
path
to
move
through
there,
because
that's
a
sort
of
that's
our
clear
Zone
for
the
for
foul
balls
and
it
any
path,
sort
of
runs
into
the
the
the
far
ends
of
the
the
foul
line
at
the
end
of
The
Outfield
as
well.
D
So
with
that
said,
in
this
version
to
take
a
step
back,
we
are
creating
this
ring
of
trees
around
the
edge
we're
using
we're
using
the
Outer
Perimeter
path.
In
this
case,
to
string
along
a
series
of
of
picnic
areas.
The
street
hockey
rink
and
an
enclosed
dog
run.
D
So
the
enclosed
dog
run
would
be
10
000
square
feet,
which
is
what
the
or
what
the
city
would
would
propose
and
then
so
that
would,
and
that
would
be
up
against
in
where
that
turnaround
is
or
that
Plateau
there.
D
So
when
we
try
and
fit
in
the
enclosed
dog
run
and
the
hockey
rink
we,
we
realized
that
it's
best
to
reorganize
the
entry
off
of
LaGrange
Street,
so
the
entry
off
of
LaGrange
Street
would
shift
to
be
between
the
building
and
the
hockey
rink,
and
that
would
enter
into
a
small
picnic,
slash
Gathering
space
and
then
we're
stringing
a
series
of
picnic,
spaces
and
Gathering
spaces
around
that
Loop.
D
The
in
this
version
we're
including
two
water
elements.
So
the
we're,
including
a
water
play
element
as
part
of
the
expansion
of
the
playground
in
the
lower
left
and
then
we're
potentially
adding
a
smaller
splash
pad
in
the
upper
right
lighting,
will
be
part
of
the
I,
see
the
comment
about
lights.
Lighting
will
be
part
of
the
lighting.
Improvements
will
come
in
the
next
phase
when
we
sort
of
dig
into
the
the
design
a
bit
more.
D
That
at
this
point,
we're
assuming
that
we're
that
the
design
and
the
project
will
improve
the
lighting
in
the
park,
and
we
we
just
haven't
drawn
out
what
those
improvements
will
be,
but
we're
holding
money
in
the
budget.
For
that.
D
D
That
would
accept
that
would
accept
storm
water
flow,
and
so
the
the
first
scheme
would
rely
on
drains
and
pipes
to
drain
the
fields,
and
so
this
version
would
also
include
drains.
But
we
would
add
these
larger
areas
to
absorb
some
of
the
rain
and
give
it
time
to
infiltrate
and
give
it
time
to
get
into
the
drains
before
before
it
enters
the
system
and
so
we're
using
those
to
define
the
end
of
the
multi-use
field.
D
We-
and
we
think,
that's
you
know,
because
the
field,
because
there's
a
lot
of
water
on
the
field
and
that
drainage
is
an
issue
one
way
of
solving
that
is
to
just
give
the
water
space
rather
than
fight
fight
it.
You
can
give
it
give
it
space
to
collect
and
allow
it
to
infiltrate.
D
We
can
certainly
manage
it
with
drains
with
drains
and
pipes,
and
we
will
take
a
look
at
what
that
will
take,
but
it's
also
nice
to
have
a
larger
grass
space
without
without
drains,
because
we
do
need
to
obviously
keep
the
drains
out
of
the
the
playing
spaces.
E
D
Then
the
last
the
last
element
here
would
be
oh
we're,
including
this
hammock
area.
D
Now
we
included
this
in
one
of
our
parks
in
Somerville,
and
we
were
pleasantly
surprised
that
it
got
a
lot
of
use
and
we
we
thought
that
it
was
worth
showing
us
an
option
here
where
you
erect
a
series
of
poles
and
folks
can
bring
their
own
hammocks
and
it's
a
your
own
own
sort
of
create
your
own
space
and
so
that
sort
of
adds
another
component
to
the
social
Gathering
mix
in
both
versions.
We're
introducing
shade
structures
that
would
have
picnic
tables.
D
In
this
case,
the
shade
structure
is
is
up
by
the
the
Bellevue
stairs.
In
the
other
version,
it
was
down
adjacent
to
the
playground
along
the
Sturgis
side
of
the
park,
foreign.
D
I
think
that's
that's
a
general
summary
of
the
two
versions.
This
you
know
this
version
keeps
the
the
side,
the
Babe
Ruth
in
place
and
it
scoots
the
two.
It
scoots
the
two
other
fields
around
to
create
better
orientations.
D
The
downside
of
that
is
that
they
they
take
up
more
space.
But
it's
it's.
You
know
every
each
of
these
choices
has
a
pro
and
a
con
and
the
other.
The
other
version
has
a
bit
more
overlap,
but
it
allows
for
that
internal
Loop,
around
the
paths
and
in
both
versions
We
would
be
improving
the
Woodland.
We
would
be
improving
lighting,
improving
drainage,
improving
accessibility,
and
that
includes
at
the
at
the
playground,
I
think
Melissa.
We
have
the.
D
D
D
That's
about
that's
about
20
feet
off
the
ground
that
that
structure
in
the
center
there
with
the
Rope
walk
it's
totally
enclosed
so
that
when
kids
can't
fall
out,
I
mean
you
know
we
would
not
be
bringing
in
equipment,
that's
not
safe,
but-
and
it
has
these
slides
that
really
you
get
up
a
lot
of
speed.
D
You
know
coming
down,
so
it's
a
bit
more
adventurous
right,
so
there's
a
bit
more
sense
of
risk,
even
though
there's
not
an
actual
increase
in
Risk,
but
there's
an
increase
in
the
sense
of
risk
and
a
bit
more
exciting
and
there's
also
a
nature
inspired
option
which
is
much
more
like
wood
or
wood
and
wood
similar
materials.
D
D
D
And
then
a
couple
ideas
about
the
water
elements
that
could
be
introduced,
there's
more
traditional
splash
pad
with
the
Water
the
spray
equipment,
where
there's
Hoops
to
Hoops
to
run
through
and
there's
jets
that
in
the
installed
in
the
ground
and
the
the
buckets
that
tip
over
periodically.
Then
there's
something
more.
D
That
feels
more,
maybe
like
a
a
fountain
where
it's
like
it's
more
Jets,
perhaps
more
formal,
slightly
more
urban
feeling
and
the
the
the
Jets
are
just
vertical
and
then
there's
the
other
option
that
we
can
we're
looking
at
is
water
play
so
having
water
tables
some
sort
of
water
table
for
kids
to
play
at
and
I
know.
There's
excuse
me,
I
know
there's
one
currently
in
the
playground,
but
we
would
look
to
where
we
would
remove
that
and
replace
it
with
something
new
and.
D
We're
giving
space
outside
the
playground
for
this,
because
you
know
when
we,
you
know
I,
think
when
we
we
don't
need
to
replace
it
in
its
own.
In
its
current
location,
foreign.
D
And
I
think
that
brings
us
to
the
end
of
our
yeah
I
know.
D
E
May
be
mad
if
I
could
offer
just
a
few
closing
comments
and
thank
you
for
walking
through
and
again
folks,
it's
great
to
be
here
tonight.
We
are
truly
excited
to
hear
the
comments
and
the
feedback,
but
I
guess
just
keep
in
mind.
These
ideas
that
we
presented
tonight
are
no
way
shape
or
form
final.
They
were
really
developed
through
spur
conversation.
That's
the
biggest
thing
that
we
want
to
get
out
of
this
tonight,
get
some
reactions
to
what
you
know.
E
What
are
the
feelings
about
whether
or
not
it's
a
more
whistle
Splash
Pad
is
was
shown
in
one
option,
with
hoops
and
loops
and
spray
features
versus
a
more
perhaps
Brown,
based
Plaza
style
fountain.
That
could
be
a
multi-use
space
when
the
the
splash
pad's
not
in
operation,
and
you
want
to
have
a
neighborhood
event.
That's
in
a
Hardscape
space
that
that
could
function
in
that
manner.
E
Obviously,
the
dog
park
is
a
big
conversation.
The
fields
are
a
big
conversation
and
just
overall
I
think
there
was
a
couple
of
comments
about
the
circulation
and
the
loops
walking
past
distances
that
all
has
yet
to
be
determined.
We're
trying
to
really
nail
down
this
evening
is
sort
of
the
program
elements
of
what
people
want
to
see,
not
necessarily
if
it
works
or
not
from
a
spatial
perspective.
E
That'll
be
our
next
task,
but
we're
just
really
trying
to
get
tonight
is:
do
people
really
feel
that
strong
about
a
dog
park
or
a
street
hockey
ring
you
know
and
sort
of
the
spatial
sizes?
Now
we
can
start
to
visualize
it
on
paper?
Well,
maybe
that's
that
hockey
rink,
you
know
when
it
gets
compared
to
a
dog
run,
maybe
it's
not
worth
having
both
and
which
one's
the
more
important
one.
So
I'll
leave
it
at
that.
E
We
look
forward
to
having
the
conversations
I
know
probably
embarrassed
Matt
here,
but
he
is
feeling
under
the
weather,
so
I'm
actually
gonna
ask
him
he's
more
than
obviously
welcome
to
stay,
but
if
he
does
disappear,
please
don't
be
offended.
It
just
means
he's
not
feeling
all
that
great
with.
C
A
Yeah
I
wanted
to
just
quickly
quick
points
that
were
made,
so
thank
you
guys
for
contributing
that
the
the
chat
is
also
saved
as
part
of
this
meeting.
So
any
comments
that
you've
made
are
documented.
I
wanted
to
note.
There
was
a
lot
of
concern
about
drainage
and
things
flowing
from
one
space
into
another.
A
We
have
civil
engineers
that
are
going
to
be
working
on
this
project
and
Consulting,
and
so
I
don't
want
you
to
be
concerned
about
that.
I
realize
that
that
is
an
issue
right
now
with
the
park.
Part
of
this
project
is
to
address
that,
so
anything
that
we
install
if
there
is
a
playground,
that's
adjacent
to
a
softball
field
and
I
think
that
was
one
of
the
concerns
we
are
going
to
be
providing
adequate
drainage,
sloping
it
in
a
way,
so
that
one
program
does
not
impact
another.
A
So
anyway,
let's
open
it
up
to
people.
If
you
want
to
raise
your
hand
share
us,
your
thoughts
share
us.
Your
thoughts
share
your
thoughts
with
us.
Let's,
let's
hear
some
thoughts.
G
Can
you
all
hear
me
yep?
Yes,
yes,
so
first
I
would
just
like
to
thank
all
of
you
for
hosting
this
tonight.
I
was
fortunate
to
be
at
the
first
meeting
and
it's
clear
that
you've
listened
to
the
community,
so
I
just
wanted
to
say
how
much
I
appreciate
the
opportunity
and
the
continued
discussion.
G
Special
thanks
be
to
you
and
also
Matt.
Thank
you
for
the
presentation
tonight.
It
was
definitely
helpful.
Brandon
also
just
said
sort
of
that
sort
of
level.
Setting
context
was
definitely
helpful
to
be
like
it's
not
like
this
and
so
bye.
Everybody
right.
So
I
really
do
appreciate
your
sort
of
helping
us
understand
where
we
are
in
the
process.
I
think
that's
really
helpful.
You
know
there's
a
lot
of
good
stuff
here
and
it's
it's
impressive.
G
How
you
were
all
able
to
sort
of
fit
in
different
kinds
of
things
that
folks
brought
to
the
table.
I
will
just
say
and
and
I
appreciate
the
thoughtfulness
around,
particularly
the
softball
fields,
of
which
you
know
that's
of
a
particular
interest.
To
me.
You
know
one
of
the
things
I
and
I.
Think
I
saw
somebody
from
one
of
the
men's
leagues
talk
about
size
of
field
at
300
and
I'd
say
even
for
the
older
girls.
G
You
know,
200
is
probably
really
a
little
bit
more
realistic,
so
I
think
we
just
need
to
look
at
some
of
the
measurements
there
and
some
of
the
opportunities
a
couple
of
other
things
that
you
know
we
talked
about
the
the
the
turf
and
you
know
wherever
Boston
is
leading
fair
enough.
One
of
the
challenges
we've
had
in
the
past
is
really
around
that
field:
maintenance
and
getting
the
dirt
and
the
support.
G
I
I
understand
the
bathroom
situation,
so
I
won't
even
go
there
per
se
and
I
appreciate
the
drainage
and
the
light
pieces
of
that
too.
I
just
wanted
to
raise
some
of
those
concerns.
Just
with
that
usage
I
want
to
make
sure
we're
not
making
the
fields
less
usable
by
the
ultimate
layouts.
A
G
And
I
appreciate
that
I'll
probably
point
you
to
people
with
more
expertise
in
that
than
me,
but
I
appreciate
it.
Thank
you.
Cool.
H
Was
great
I
just
want
to
thank
you.
I've
lived
in
West
Roxbury
long
enough
that
this
is
the
third
time
the
playground's
been
talked
about
being
updated
and
back
in
the
day.
We
we
all
volunteered
to
like
build
some
play
structure,
sort
of
like
Habitat
for
Humanity,
so
I
just
want
to
say,
based
on
my
observations.
H
I
would
love
it
if
you
could
work
on
fixing
the
stairs
that
connect
Bellevue
down
to
the
Y
and
think
about
what
you
do
when
in
the
winter,
when
there
are
snow
Banks
there
and
I
would
I
notice
people
love
to
run
up
that
hill
as
part
of
the
fitness
routine.
So
maybe
there's
a
way
to
think
about
that
side.
Entry
people
carry
their
bikes
up
and
down
the
slope.
H
Maybe
you
could
do
I,
don't
know
Landscaping
with
pollinator
Gardens
or
some
kind
of
interesting
Woodland
area.
I
would
just
say
that
it
doesn't
always
happen,
but
occasionally
young
people
are
drinking
and
that's
one
of
the
places
that
trash
has
collected,
but
so
there
is
sort
of
an
informal
entrance
on
Bellevue
as
well,
but
but
I
think
it's
great
to
have
so
many
trees
and
to
have
so
much
open
space.
And
it's
really
a
jam
of
our
neighborhood
and
I
just
wondered.
H
If
there's
anything
else,
we
can
help
in
terms
of
collecting
information
for
the
for
the
parks
about
you
know,
demographs
or
other
uses.
Besides,
the
fixed
Sports
I
think
there's
a
lot
of
informal
Fitness
walking
that
happens
so.
A
Any
any
input
that
you
have
would
be
great
anything
that
you
sort
of
witnessed
going
on
that.
You
think
that
our
project
could
sort
of
help.
I,
don't
know
formalize
someone
else
brought
up
in
the
chat
that
like
whether
we
had
inquired
about
like
the
specific
ages
of
kids
in
the
playground-
and
we
did
not.
You
know
we
just
sort
of.
A
Do
you
use
for
so
if
people
have
experience
with
the
playground
and
it's
like
well,
it's
mostly
five-year-olds,
or
it's
mostly.
H
H
That
and
I
think
too
that
you
I
just
wanted
to
really
encourage
Partnerships
with
the
Y
and
the
sort
of
walkability
you've
got
blue
bikes
on
Center
Street,
if
they're
a
way
to
add
more
bike
parking,
but
I
I
also
wanna,
just
Echo
that
in
climate
change.
Thus
there
is
very
little
shade,
and
can
we
like
think
consciously
that
these
are
sports,
there's
Sports
activity
for
kids
during
the
summer
and
do
they
have
places
for
water?
Do
they
have
places
for
shade.
E
Thank
you
for
that.
Sarah.
If
you
don't
mind,
if
I
I
have
some
questions
for
you,
could
you
expand
a
little
bit
on
you
made
the
comment
of
people
running
up
the
slope
is
that
the
area
like
directly
adjacent
to
the
stairs
or
yeah
yeah,
and
it's
eroding
out
right?
It's
it's.
H
Well,
I
think
I'm
not
so
again,
this
is
unofficial,
but
in
an
in
an
age
strong
way
right
people
are
there's
a
running
club.
There's
people
doing
their
exercises,
they're
running
up
and
down
the
stairs,
they're
they're
getting
more
and
more
fit
so
informally
they
run
up
and
down
the
stairs
next
to
it,
but
maybe
maybe
legally
you
could
figure
out
a
sort
of
Trail,
that's
more
that
it.
H
That
is
a
kind
of
a
loop
or
would
tell
you
how
many
stairs
there
are
or
something
but
I
do
notice
that
it.
That
has
to
be
balanced
with.
However,
the
snow
removal's
done
for
those
stairs
because
sometimes
we're
all
volunteering.
A
We
also
have
to
be
aware
of
our
property
lines
too
I'm,
not
sure
exactly
where
the
Park's
limit
is
I
know
it's
like
near
those
stairs.
So
if
it
is
the
wise
property,
we
wouldn't
legally
be
able
to
use
our
funds
to
do
anything
even
if
they
were
friendly
about
it,
and
we
are
working
with
the
why
I've
had
a
couple
of
conversations
with
them
to
sort
of
see.
A
You
know
how
how
our
Park
can
kind
of
help
their
program.
So
that's
a
great
point,
foreign.
A
Structures
are
being
brought
up
as
well
in
the
use
of
shade
and
just
looking
at
the
chat,
so
we're
definitely
going
to
be
one
of
one
of
my
experiences
in
our
Parks
as
a
user.
I
have
a
daughter,
who's,
seven
and
there's
a
shade
structure
by
a
playground
over
at
Parkman.
That
is
heavily
used.
A
So
you
know
I
think
that
that
would
be
a
really
great
idea
to
bring
here
like.
Not
only
is
it
shade
where
you
can
use
outside,
but
it's
also
a
nice
place
to
have
like
outdoor
birthday
parties.
J
I'm
doing
it
now
how
you
doing
I'm
Dennis,
roach,
I'm
I'm
on
the
board
of
the
parkway
little
league,
so
I
don't
want
to
go
into
the
same
detail
that
Lisa
went
into,
but
the
dimensions
of
softball
and
baseball
probably
need
to
be
looked
at,
but
I
do.
Thank
all
you
guys
because
you
guys
did
a
great
job,
bringing
a
lot
of
the
context
of
the
last
meeting
and
bring
it
into
two
kind
of
design
starts.
J
One
of
the
questions
I
did
have,
though,
is
the
soccer
field
in
the
where
the
advocacy
for
the
soccer
field
is
coming
from
and
if
that's,
if
that's
just
a
multi-purpose
field,
if
that's
a
soccer
field,
I
know
we
have
20
plus
soccer
fields
in
our
neighborhood
up
at
Millennium,
Park
and
I
do
see
an
issue
there
with
girls.
Softball
that
likes
to
that
plays.
J
This
season
is
basically
spring
summer
and
fall,
and
some
kind
of
you
know
something
combating
there
when
there's
20,
plus
soccer
fields
up
there
and
I
do
want
to
reiterate
the
advocacy
I
know
a
lot
of
the
hockey
people
on
on
online
today,
but
there
is
definitely
still
strong
interest
in
the
neighborhood
for
street
hockey.
A
Thanks
Dennis
I'm,
not
sure
there
was
no
specific
group
correct
me
if
I'm
wrong,
Weston
Samson,
but
I,
there's
no
specific
group.
That
said
we
are
interested
in.
You
know
the
soccer
situation
here.
I
think
it
was
just
it
showed
up
in
the
survey
and
I
think
we
can
stripe
it
and
we
can
permit
it,
but
it's
also
just
Green
Space.
You
know
it's
one
of
those
things
where
like.
A
If
there
isn't
any
interest,
people
can
show
up
with
cones
and
just
use
it
as
a
soccer
field,
assuming
no
one
else
has
permitted
it
for
for
baseball
or
for
softball,
so
I
think
we're
sort
of
showing
that
there's
the
possibility
of
striping
it.
If
there's,
if
there's
interested
in
that
and
I
guess,
if
there's
interest
in
not
having
that,
that's
that's
good
to
hear
and
I'm
curious.
A
If
there
are
supporters
out
there
of
soccer,
who
would
who
would
like
it
to
be
striped,
just
you
know
put
it
in
the
chat
if
you
are
or
if
you
just
be
interested
in
having
open,
flexible,
Green
Space,
where
you
can
bring
a
couple,
cones
and
and
Play
Soccer
when
you
feel
like
it.
E
Melissa,
if
you
I'm
gonna,
ask
my
colleague
Melissa:
could
you
just
to
sort
of
refresh
my
own
memory
flip
back
to
the
sort
of
top
15
feedback,
amenities
that
were
in
the
survey,
because
soccer
does
show
up
at
number
eight
I
I
thought
I
was
like
I'm.
Pretty
sure
I
saw
that
as
a
top
request,
so
Dennis
I,
guess
that's
where
it's
coming
from
specifically
I.
Don't
know
if
that's
more
of
a
convenience
thing
or
if
it's
a
need
thing,
we
would
love
to
learn
more
about
that.
E
But
there's
definitely
enough.
You
know
responses
within
the
592
that
it
ticked
up
towards
the
top
10,
showing
that
a
soccer,
an
additional
soccer
field
or
soccer
field
would
would
be
nice,
foreign.
A
How
do
people
feel
about,
let's
just
say,
like
the
location
of
the
proposed
hockey
spaces?
You
know,
we've
got
one
design
where
it
would
be
in
this
one.
You
know
it's
it's
off
of
Sturgis
and
then
and
the
other
one
it
would
be
off
of
LaGrange.
It
would
be
sort
of
a
similar
relationship
to
Fallon
field
in
Roslindale,
where
they've
got
the
hockey
rink
sort
of
adjacent
to
the
road.
A
Walworth
I
think
what
is
that
anyway?
So
I
don't
know
if
there
are
any
thoughts
about
that.
If
any
strong
feelings
about
dog
runs
hockey
near
other
courts
is
advantageous,
that's
a
good
thought.
Okay,
Lisa!
You
have
any
thoughts.
G
G
Just
it
just
we're
trying
to
squeeze
an
awful
lot
into
the
park
and
I
totally
see,
there's
a
lot
of
different
use
cases
and
there's
a
lot
of
goodness
here,
but
it
it
just
seems
like
it's
going
to
be
extremely
challenging
to
meet
all
of
those
needs
in
this
one.
Park
foreign.
G
A
Now
we
understand
that
we
wouldn't
want
to
by
renovating
it
ruin
it.
So
that's,
that's
not
the
goal
and
it's
a
a
good
point
to
bring
up,
but.
A
So
what
about
I
don't
know
if
anyone's
on
the
line
tonight
about
like
if
there
are
any
playground
users
of
the
you
know
the
children's
playground,
if
there's
an
appetite
for
challenging
scary
equipment
or
if
it's
like.
I
A
Sort
of
ground-based
kind
of
Adventure,
if
anybody
has
any
opinions
on
what
type
of
play
equipment,
because
that
can
be
something
where
you
know.
A
C
Hi
this
is
Lindsay
I'm
sharing
my
husband
Brian's
account.
Can
you
hear
me
yep
thanks?
We
we're
at
the
playground
a
lot
with
our
daughter,
who's
almost
two,
and
it
does
seem
like
a
lot
of
the
other
families
who
use
the
playground,
have
really
young
kids.
So
I
think
that
you
know
equipment
that
is
good
for
little.
Kids
would
be
really
beneficial
like
I'm
looking
at
this
adventurous
one,
and
that
just
seems
really
targeted
for
much
bigger,
kids
and
I
do
think.
C
Some
of
just
like
the
classic
equipment
is
really
useful,
like
there's
a
set
of
swings
and
there's
always
a
line
for
them
like
kids.
Just
love
swings
and
I
would
want
to
make
sure
that
oh
nope
there's
the
two-year-old
crying
now
sorry
I
would
want
to
make
sure
that
we
maintain
some
of
those
sort
of
like
classic
elements
and
just
things
that
can
really
absorb
a
lot
of
children.
It's
like
a
very,
very
heavily
used
playground.
One
last
thing
I'll
say
about
the
playground
too.
C
I
think
having
a
splash
pad
in
addition
to
playground
would
be
really
awesome,
but
I
would
prefer
the
design
with
a
splash
pad.
Is
sort
of
like
separate
from
the
playground
just
because
I'd
love
to
be
able
to
go
to
the
playground
and
not
necessarily
get
my
kids
soaking
wet,
depending
on
the
type
of
outing
that
we're
like
in
the
mood
for
so
that's
my
feedback
on
the
playground.
Thank
you.
E
Thank
you
very
helpful
and
I
guess
I
want
to
know-
and
this
is
definitely
a
an
initiative
by
the
city
of
Boston
in
general,
whenever
they
renovate
their
playgrounds
to
the
greatest
extent
possible,
given
numerous
factors:
square
footage,
topography,
adjacencies,
we
and
here
at
Wesson
and
Samson.
We
always
really
truly
push
a
universal
access
style,
playground
for
all
abilities
disabilities
capabilities,
whether
or
not
they're
physical
disabilities
or
mental
disabilities.
E
We
want
to
make
sure
that
they
are
always
inclusive
and
accessible.
So
you
know
thank
you
for
the
feedback
on
the
age
group
very
helpful
and
also
just
the
the
number
of
users.
It
seems
like
it's
a
very
loved
playground.
We've
observed
that
as
well
as
ourselves,
when
we've
been
out
on
site,
so
really
truly
appreciate
that
and
also
great
comment
about
a
splash
pad.
I
know
it
can
be
challenging
as
a
parent
I
have
young
children
as
well,
there's
pros
and
cons.
E
If
you
have
multiple
children
with
you
one's
going
to
want
to
go
to
the
splash
pad
one's
going
to
want
to
go
to
the
playground.
So
it's
hard
to
be
able
to
monitor
both
if
they
are
too
far
separated,
but
I
I
also
understand
trying
to
keep
a
child
dry.
It's
almost
like
a
fly
to
a
light,
it's
hard
to
keep
them
not
out
of
the
splash
pad.
If
it's
active,
so
great
comment,
thank
you.
F
K
Okay,
hello,
can
you
hear
me
yep
I,
wanted
to
say
thank
you.
This
was
clearly
very
well
thought
out,
so
you
guys
took
a
lot
of
time
heard
what
we
had
to
say
from
the
feedback
and
tried
to
incorporate
it
all
in
here
and
yeah.
I
come
representing
two
groups
today,
the
parkway
girls
softball
and
the
YMCA
and
I
I
definitely
want
to
stress
the
importance
of
getting
the
girl,
softball
fields
correct,
because
this
is
the
largest
girls
softball
recreational
instructional
league
in
the
state
of
Massachusetts.
K
Excuse
me,
state
of
Massachusetts,
so
I
think
it's
really
important
that
we
continue
to
celebrate
our
success
and
give
the
girls
some
Quality
fields
with
regards
to
the
playground.
I
think
you
know
both
my
kids
grew
up
here.
K
I
grew
up
here,
so
I
have
experience
with
you
know,
I
played
on
the
fields
and
the
structures
when
I
was
a
kid
too,
the
ones
that
we
have
now
seem
to
be
working
really
well,
because
we
have
a
variety
of
kids
from
babies
all
the
way
up
to
12
years
old,
and
you
know
they're,
you,
you
bring
your
kids
to
watch
the
softball
game
and
or
to
play
the
softball
game
and
the
younger
siblings
are
at
the
park
playing.
K
So
it's
a
real
nice
combination
to
have
but
I'd
say
that's
the
age
group
that
I
see
over
it's
just
the
time
of
day.
What
time
do
you
show
up
and
you're
going
to
see
the
babies
in
the
you
know
before
noon?
K
You're
gonna
see
the
school
age
kids
around
three
o'clock,
so
it
was
really
about
when
you
show
up
and
I
I,
absolutely
love
the
thoughtfulness
around
putting
some
shaded
area
in
because
the
YMCA
does
host
over
a
thousand
kids
in
camps
throughout
the
summer,
and
it
is
a
challenge
to
keep
them
cool
to
keep
them
hydrated.
K
So
that
would
be
a
huge
Improvement
to
Billings
field
and
that's
it
I.
Thank
you
for
hearing
me.
F
M
Yeah,
just
a
couple
of
things:
I've
been
at
Billings
field
for
over
20
years,
I
helped
the
parks
department
with
managing
their
facility
and
running
a
lot
of
operations
out
of
that
complex
I'm.
Also,
a
member
of
the
corps
of
charitable
trust.
Where
we
run
our
annual
road
race
I
made
a
lot
of
observations
at
the
park
and
the
playground
over
the
years
that
I've
been
there
anything
that
has
to
do
with
water.
The
human
factor
has
to
be
brought
into
play.
M
E
Great
points
totally
appreciate
the
comment
regarding
operations.
That
is
definitely
something
we
don't
take
lightly
on
behalf
of
parks.
We
don't
want
to
create
something
design,
something
construct,
something
that
ultimately
cannot
be
maintained
at
a
high
level
for
you,
folks,
you
were
the
ones
that
are
gonna
have
to
embrace
the
new
park
at
the
end,
you
you're
the
users,
and
we
want
to
make
sure
you
guys
are
extremely
happy
with
the
result.
E
E
We
don't
know
yet
because
we're
still
Gathering
the
data,
but
there's
definitely
some
engineered
methods
that
we
can
most
likely
will
be
employing,
such
as
providing
an
under
drain
system
underneath
the
fields
improving
the
the
infiltration
capacity
of
the
soils
so
that
they're
more
porous,
they
accept
more
water,
they
would
go
into
an
underdrained
system.
We've
done
layers
of
drainage,
Stone
below
the
playing
field.
Anything
you
know,
we've
we've
gotten.
E
You
know
certain
Fields
designed
to
accept
up
to
six
inches
an
hour
which
is
pretty
good
for
a
grass
field.
Typically,
you
don't
actually
want
to
accept
that
amount
of
water
or
because
your
Fields
will
dry
out,
but
that
being
said,
there
are
several
techniques,
several
improvements
that
could
be
made
that
we
plan
on,
including
that
will
increase
the
ability
to
have
those
fields
more
playable
after
a
storm
event.
So
there
is
not
standing
water.
E
M
You
that
sounds
good
I
watched
him
do
the
last
design
and
the
the
company
that
did
it,
that
they
put
an
underground
drain
and
that
doesn't
seem
to
be
working
at
all.
A
I
spoke
to
the
I'm,
forgetting
his
name
and
I
feel
bad.
We
had
a
nice
conversation,
the
guy
who
maintains
it
for
Parks
he's
been
there
for
a
long
time,
really
nice
guy
and
he
said
that.
A
There's
a
lot
of
kids
loved
the
water
table,
and
so
they
love
to
interact
with
it
in
many
ways
and
one
of
those
ways
is
dumping
the
mulch
from
the
sort
of
pine
tree
area
into
the
water
day,
which
I
think
grain,
so
interaction
with
water
is
great
and
maybe
we
could
put
it
in
a
place
that
is
a
little
bit
less
tempting
and
and
maybe
less
mulch
attracting
I'm,
not
sure.
But
that's
definitely
we're
aware
that
that
is
an
issue.
A
I
also
just
wanted
to
bring
up
in
the
chat
here.
There
are
a
lot
of
people
who
are
supporting
the
idea
of
maintaining
the
current
play
equipment
or
like
much
of
it.
So
that's
really
cool
I
love
to
hear
that
my
daughters
played
there
quite
a
bit
and
like
there's
certain
pieces
that
she
loves
so
I'm
you
know
like
if
you
guys
are
interested
in
keeping
them.
There
are
certainly
ones
I.
A
Think
we
would
probably
go
through
and
just
do
a
quick
check
to
make
sure
that,
like
everything
has
working
parts
and
it's
up
to
current
code,
you
know
sometimes
codes
change
so,
but
we
we
could
definitely
put
in
like
a
strong
effort
for
maintaining
all
the
ones
that
we
can.
So
that's
that's
great
feedback.
I
I
wasn't
expecting
that
and
that's
that's
great
to
hear
and.
F
F
F
A
E
I
guess
maybe,
while
he's
typing
in
the
chat
I
understand,
this
is
a
lot
to
sort
of
throw
at
you
all
tonight
and
we're
all
staring
at
a
small
computer
screen
squinting
our
eyes,
I
guess
what
I
might
recommend
you
know
take
take
the
time
to
go
back
onto
the
website.
Download
our
presentation
this
evening.
E
B
E
I
think
B
mentioned
at
the
beginning.
You
know
she's
more
than
willing
to
connect
with
you
all
related
to
conversation.
So
if
you
come
up
with
a
comment
in
the
next
couple
of
days,
don't
feel
like
you,
you've
lost
your
opportunity.
There's
there's
plenty
of
opportunity
to
still
be
heard.
E
We
want
to
make
sure
that
we
get
as
much
input
and
feedback
over
the
next
month
or
so
because
and
I
think
we
talked
about
the
schedule
a
little
bit,
but
we'll
be
back
in
front
of
you
folks
again
in
April
with
what
we
hope
to
be
sort
of
a
distilled
down
version
of
a
preferred
plan.
E
It
might
not
be
perfect,
but
we
hope
we're
getting
close
based
on
tonight's
meeting,
based
on
conversations
that
we'll
all
have
over
the
next
couple
of
weeks,
as
well
as
any
feedback
that
b
provides
to
us
via
feedback.
She
gets
from
you
folks.
A
Yeah,
we'll
we'll
sort
of
keep
the
lines
open,
and
you
know
at
a
certain
point,
we
sort
of
say
all
right,
communication's
kind
of
dwindling
and
so
we'll
put
pen
to
paper,
and
you
know:
try
and
pull
together
a
final
plan.
A
I
I
do
know
that,
like
I've
heard
from
some
constituents
and
other
neighborhoods
when
we're
talking
about
dog
parks
that
sometimes
people
are
uncomfortable
expressing
either
support
or
opposition
because
they
feel
like
I,
don't
want
my
neighbors
to
know
that
I
actually
am
terrified
of
dogs
and
I,
don't
like
them
and
I
don't
want
a
dog
park
or
like
I.
Don't
want
my
softball
friends
to
know
that
I
love
dogs
and
I
want
a
dog
park
or
whatever
it
may
be.
A
So
if
you
have,
you
know,
concerns,
and
you
just
want
to
email
me
offline,
like
that's
or
email
me
offline,
just
get
in
touch
outside
the
meeting.
I!
Think
that's
great
and
you
know
we
can.
Our
our
final
design
will
will
reflect
all
of
this
feedback.
So
you
know
tonight's
meeting
the
chat,
any
emails
that
I
get
any
phone
calls
that
I
get
Etc
Robert
brockelman
asks.
A
Will
there
be
another
survey
we
have
not
pulled
together,
another
survey
and
I
think
that's
one
of
those
things
where,
if
you
guys
think
that
it's
a
good
idea
like
we,
we
got
a
lot
of
feedback
on
the
first
survey,
and
so
we
sort
of
took
that
as
our
sort
of
main
Direction.
A
Do
you
guys
think
that
it's
a
good
idea
to
create
a
second
survey
for
this
group
for
the
for
this
group
of
designs
or
sort
of
go
with
the
feedback
that
we
hear
from
this
meeting
in
the
next
couple
weeks?
Any
emails
I,
don't
know
if
you
want
to
put
in
the
chat
what
you
think
we
should
do,
because
surveys
are
sometimes
good,
but
they
also
sometimes
they
could
be
a
little
too
reductive
you
can
find
out.
Oh,
we
should
have
asked
that
question.
A
You
know
like
it's
they're,
not
like
Magic
Bullets,
necessarily
so
all
right
people
are
saying
we
can
email
you.
You
know
if
we're
starting
to
get
the
sense
that
we
need
more
feedback
before
finalizing
the
design.
We
can
perhaps
issue.
Another
survey
or
I
can
send
out
an
e-blast
and
ask
you
guys
your
thoughts,
but
this
is
all.
This
is
all
good
to
hear
many.
B
Hi
yeah
there's
a
lot
of
comments
about
Millennium
talk
and
how
it
was
closed
for
so
long,
and
my
understanding
was
that
was
because
there
were,
you,
know,
supply
chain
issues
and
they
couldn't
get
mint
and
blah
blah
is
it?
Is
it
possible
to
given
that
people
don't
want
to
have
a
long
time
without
the
playground?
Is
it
possible
to
not
tear
down
the
old
one
until
you
have
the
stuff
for
the
new
one,
so
that
you
you
sort
of
eliminate
the
possibility
of
that
delay?.
A
That's
a
good
question.
Usually
if
you
have
phasing
requirements
for
the
contractor,
it
can
tend
to
boost
the
price.
So
we
tend
not
to
do
that.
There
definitely
were
supply
chain
issues.
I
sit
next
to
the
manager,
the
project
manager
for
that
Park,
and
that
was
a
huge
headache
that
was
a
real,
a
real
pain
for
her
and
obviously
for
the
park
users.
She
heard
a
lot
about
it,
so
you
know
it's
I.
I
would
have
a
hard
time
saying
honestly
that,
like
yeah
no
prob,
we
can
put
that
over.
A
You
know
because
then
the
question
is
they
get
the
play
equipment
and
where
is
it
stored,
while
you're
prepping
the
playground?
It's
really
hard
to
do
so.
My
honest
answer
is
that
it's
unlikely
we'd
be
able
to
do
that,
but
supply
chain
issues
have
loosened
up
a
lot.
We're
not
seeing
the
delays
and
the
shipping
problems
like
ports
are
no
longer
Frozen
the
way
they
were
last
year,
so
we're
pretty
confident
that
it
would
be
a
smoother
process.
F
L
Hi
everyone
I
just
wanted
to
say
thank
you
very
much
for
putting
this
together,
I
think
it's
absolutely
great.
All
the
conversations
that
we're
having
I
just
wanted
to
also
chime
in
just
to
say,
I,
haven't
heard
that
many
people
for
the
the
Dog
Run
Dog
Park,
so
I
just
wanted
to
chime
in
for
my
two
cents
about
how
much
I
think
that
ideas
are
great.
We
should
have
all
of
these
fields
for
all
of
the
the
youth,
the
girls,
the
men's
softball
everybody.
L
The
hockey
rink
specifically,
is
a
great
idea
and
I
am
in
big
favor
of
the
Dog
Run
Dog
Park
between
Heinz
and
Billings,
having
five
baseball
fields
between
them
and
Millennium
Park,
supporting
a
lot
of
soccer.
I
think
the
one
thing
that
two
things
that
we
really
are
missing
right
now
is
the
hockey
rink
and
the
the
dog
run
for
the
the
community.
L
There
is
just
so
many
people,
I
know
that
aren't
here
right
now
that
would
speak
to
the
dog
park
in
favor
of,
and
hopefully
some
of
them
that
are
here
will
reach
out
and
say
the
same.
But
again,
thank
you
guys
very
much.
All
the
feedback
and
everything
is
really
good
to
hear
the
community
involved
and
I
appreciate
it.
A
All
right:
well,
it
is
7
23.
and
we
had
sort
of
scheduled
this
to
be
wrapping
up
around
7
30.
So
if
anyone
has
any
final
thoughts,
raise
your
hand
shout
them
out
there,
we
go
Ryan.
N
Hi
there
Brian
this
time,
I
was
I
was
one
I
guess
wanted
to
prevent
present
a
an
alternative
view
on
the
dog
run
situation
like
we,
my
family
has
a
dog.
N
We
use
the
park
every
day
for
our
dog
to
run
around
and
obviously
when
there's
a
softball
game
or
something
we
are
respectful
and
we're
not
bringing
our
dog
through
the
game,
but
I
don't
quite
see
the
value
in
having
a
small
dog
park
like
a
small
dog
run,
because
it's
as
as
shown
in
option
A
or
whichever
one
had
had
an
option
b,
I
think
it's.
It's
so
small
that
I
think
you
wouldn't
end
up
having
any
of
the
larger
dogs.
Like
people
wouldn't
be
using
it.
N
People
would
still
be
out
running
in
the
main
field
and
I
feel
like
using
that
corner
for
a
street
hockey
rink
or
something
would
be
a
a
better
use
of
it,
and
you
still
have
open
space
for
dogs
to
run
around
in
the
field.
So
I
guess
I'm,
not
fully
understanding.
What's
driving
the
dog
running
specifically.
A
Well
in
the
survey
who
said
they
wanted
an
enclosed
dog
area
and
I'm,
not
sure
if
I
explained
this
clearly
before
I,
probably
didn't,
because
it's
it's
like
a
moving
Target
as
far
as
the
parks
department
is
concerned
and
we're
trying
to
develop
and
trying
to
get
out
ahead
of
this,
but
off
leash
hours,
off-leash
dog
use
in
a
park
is
technically
not
legal
right,
and
so
the
legal
option
that
we
can
offer
is
an
enclosed
dog
area
and
I've
heard
from
a
lot
of
people.
A
After
the
first
meeting
from
emails,
basically
saying
what
you've
just
said,
which
is
we
have
a
dog,
we
love
Billings,
we
use
Billings,
we
don't
want
an
enclosed
dog
area,
we
want.
You
know
our
dog
is
gonna,
run
free
and,
interestingly,
at
Fallon
field.
I,
don't
know
five
eight
years
ago,
something
like
that.
There
was
a
dog
run
that
was
sort
of
being
proposed
and
the
dog
owners
were
like.
A
We
don't
actually
want
that
like
we're,
going
to
be
using
the
field
next
to
so,
that's
that's
totally
a
fair
point
and
it's
legitimate,
and
you
know
I
I,
do
think
that,
given
you
know,
they're,
probably
smaller
dogs
that
would
use
it,
I
mean
10.
A
000
square
feet
is
actually
like
a
decent
size
at
sort
of
a
recommended
size
for
a
dog
area
that
we've
you
know
just
based
on
our
experience
of
looking
at
different
dog
runs
and
what's
successful
and
what
isn't
so
anyway,
we
wanted
to
show
it
in
the
design
to
show
that,
like
spatially,
we
could
accommodate
it,
but
if
it's
not
something,
that's
very
supported
and
people
would
prefer
to
use
the
park
in
other
ways
with
their
dogs
and
we're
aware
that
that
happens
and
it
shouldn't
happen,
but
we
acknowledge
life,
isn't
always
as
you
want
it.
A
You
know
that
can
happen
too.
So
I
think
Regina
has
her
hand
up.
I
Majority
of
the
dog
walkers
will
probably
just
let
the
dogs
run
free
the
way
they
they
they
do.
If
that's
what
they
do,
but
it
would
be
nice
to
have
fruit
bags.
I
So
one
thing
I
put
in
the
chat
was
that
you
know
and
I
agreed
with
Brian,
who
said
having
the
hockey
rink
and
having
the
dog
park.
Could
all
you
know
it
would
be
nice
to
include
this
for
everybody,
but
the
I
think
the
what
really
needs
to
happen
is
identifying
the
size
of
the
fields
to
assess
the
space
surrounding
it
after
and
I.
I
Just
wonder
if
the
size
of
the
fields
weren't
downplayed
a
little
bit,
and
you
know
what
that
might
change
and
how
it
might
affect
the
rest
of
these
elements,
such
as
the
splash
pad
and
the
dog
park,
the
hockey
rinks.
That
sort
of
thing.
E
That's
those
are
fair
points.
Regina
and
I
appreciate
them.
We
understand
that
you
know
the
sports
fields
are
a
key
component
and
very
important
to
the
community,
and
at
least
that's
what
I'm
hearing
tonight
and
we
will
be
going
back
and
evaluating
the
sizes
and
the
dimensions
making
sure
that
we
are
getting
that
right
and
then
we
will
have
to.
Obviously
you
know
reevaluate
some
of
the
spaces
around
the
perimeter,
and
you
know
we'll
see
where
we
land
I,
do
believe
and
I'm
fairly.
Confident.
E
E
Neighborhood
meetings,
people.
E
We
totally
understand
that,
and
we
appreciate
that
you
know
I
guess
if
we
can
all
understand
at
the
end
of
this,
we
may
have
to
give
up
a
little
bit
of
something
get
the
best
park.
We
might
not
all
get
everything
that
we
want.
I
think
we
can
all
agree
on
that,
whether
or
not
it's
a
financial
barrier
or
a
base
barrier
or
a
need
or
want
barrier,
but
we
do
I
will
say
you
know:
I've
worked
with
Boston
Parks
many
years
now.
E
They
have
always
gone
above
and
beyond,
to
try
and
make
sure
they
truly
get
as
many
of
the
amenities
that
the
neighborhood
is
asking
and
requesting
so
we'll
get
there
for
you
folks,
we
have
obviously
a
long
ways
to
go.
We
understand
that
it
was
really
just
about
getting
the
conversation
started
tonight
and
it's
it's
been
great
for
me.
I
appreciate
that.
A
Joanne
Halpert
just
joined
to
think
and
asked
about
the
steps
at
the
Y.
So
yes
that
would
that
would
be
something
that's
addressed
as
part
of
this
project.
We
are
aware
that
they're
in
pretty
poor
condition.
A
Someone
else
also
asked
me
previously
if
they
could
be
renovated
with
bikes
in
mind
sort
of
perhaps
like
a
route
up
the
middle.
That
would
could
you
like
we're
looking
at
those
types
of
options,
potentially
lighting
them
I'm,
not
sure
there
was
a
question
also
in
the
chat
about
lighting
the
park.
We
don't.
A
Our
rule
of
thumb
is
not
to
light
our
parks
at
night
because
we're
not
trying
to
encourage
people
hanging
out
in
the
Parks
at
night,
like
they're,
technically
closed
From
Dusk
to
Dawn,
but
we
do
have
field
usage
and
gains
during
that
time.
So
we
light
our
Fields,
but
we
wouldn't
be
like
lighting
a
path
unless
a
path
is
used
to
cut
through,
in
like
specific
reasons
like
oh
there's,
a
t-stop
over
there
and
a
school
over
there.
A
So
we
light
the
path
so
lighting
the
steps,
I'm,
not
sure
I
I-
think
we
could
do
something
like
that
and
I'll
run
it
up
to
Jane
and
see
if
I,
if
I
get
any
pushback.
But
it
sounds
like
it's
a
well-used
entrance
and
it's
relating
to
the
YMCA.
I
A
There
may
be
a
real
need
for
that.
It
sounds
like
there
is,
so
I'll
be
looking
into
that
as
well.
So
thank
you
guys
for
all
the
great
feedback.
It's
7
31.,
we'll.
Let
you
all
go
again.
Thank
you.
This
has
been.
This
has
been
a
wonderful
time
and
I
really
appreciate
all
of
you
guys
being
respectful
of
each
other
and
and
giving
each
other
the
space
to
say
your
piece
and
to
listen.
A
I
hope
you
have
a
wonderful
evening
and
we
will
see
you
at
our
third
meeting.
I
will
share
the
date
for
that
once
we
have
that
set
okay,
take
care.
