Description
Jeep Jones Park Final Design Meeting April 6, 2021
A
A
We
had
a
community
request
for
interpretation
for
this
meeting
for
somali.
We
have
hassan
and
abdullahi
with
us
tonight
for
interpretation
hassan.
Would
you
please
describe
how
people
can
access
the
somali
interpretation.
B
A
Thank
you.
We
also
want
to
make
sure
that
everybody
knows
that
tonight's
meeting
is
being
recorded
and
is
going
to
be
available
on
the
project
website
within
about
a
week,
and
I
want
to
thank
everybody-
that's
here
tonight
for
your
time.
We
know
that
there
are
a
lot
of
meetings
and
they
can
be
challenging,
especially
with
as
many
zoom
meetings
as
there
are
these
days.
A
But
please,
if
you'd
like
to
share
this.
What
you
learned
tonight
with
your
neighbors
friends
and
family,
which
will
be
posted
on
our
website
for
those
who
may
not
be
able
to
join
tonight,
also
want
to
just
make
sure
that
tonight
feels
comfortable
for
conversation
for
everyone
and
that
each
of
you
feels
comfortable
sharing
your
questions
and
comments.
So
let's
please
be
respectful
and
mindful
of
others
time
so
that
everyone
has
the
opportunity
to
participate.
A
Hopefully
that
takes
care
of
all
of
the
housekeeping
information
now
on
to
the
project.
First
again,
thanks
again
for
tonight
for
those
of
you
who
may
have
joined
since
we
first
started,
we
will
do
a
quick
team
introduction
and
a
quick
project
overview
to
get
you
to
date.
Where
we
are
today,
then
we're
going
to
go
into
the
presentation.
A
We're
going
to
be
looking
to
the
community
to
let
us
know
if
we
heard
your
thoughts
and
comments
from
the
first
few
meetings
and
whether
we
got
the
final
design
right
and
then,
like
I
said,
we'll
have
time
for
discussion
at
the
end
of
the
presentation.
A
Again,
my
name
is
lauren
bryant
project
manager
for
boston
parks.
I'm
joined
tonight
from
the
city
with
by
christine
brandeo,
who
is
our
outreach
coordinator,
she's
a
really
great
contact
for
things
that
are
not
necessarily
project
related,
but
parks
related,
also
a
really
great
resource
for
friends
groups
and
then
from
the
design
team.
Ibi
group,
maybe
you
both
could
give
a
little
wave
when
I
say
your
name
and
then
introduce
yourself
as
you
speak
during
the
presentation.
A
So
here's
a
quick
overview
of
where
we
are
and
what
our
next
steps
are.
This
is
our
third
community
meeting
at
our
first
meeting
in
january.
We
talked
about
the
park
and
the
scope
of
the
project
got
a
sense
from
the
community
of
what
works
and
what
doesn't
what
the
community
feels
is
important
to
save
and
what
might
need
to
be
upgraded
or
changed.
A
We
took
that
feedback
and
requested
additional
funding
to
include
in
the
larger
park
scope
at
our
second
meeting
in
february,
we
shared
design
ideas
based
on
what
we
heard
at
first
meeting.
We
gathered
feedback
from
the
community
at
that
meeting
from
the
family
of
jeep
jones
in
a
separate
family
meeting
with
them,
and
then
also
through
our
online
survey,
which
was
available
in
both
english
and
somali.
A
Then
tonight
at
our
third
meeting,
we'll
be
sharing
our
proposed
final
design
with
you
guys
and
that's
based
on
all
the
input
that
we've
gathered
thus
far,
and
it's
going
to
be
an
opportunity
for
you
guys
to.
Let
us
know
like
I
said:
if
we
got
it
correct,
we
know
we'll
never
be
able
to
get
in
absolutely
everything
everyone
wants.
A
But
you
know
we
just
want
to
make
sure
that
we
got
pretty
close
and
that
this
is
a
park
that
you're
excited
to
be
going
to
whenever
it's
renovated
after
tonight,
we're
going
to
work
to
make
any
updates
to
the
design.
Based
on
the
comments
that
we
hear
and
then
we'll
plan
to
bid
the
project
with
the
final
design
this
summer
and
possibly
start
construction.
This
fall
for
an
anticipated
opening
of
spring
or
summer
of
2022.
A
Can
we
go
to
the
next
slide
and
what
I
want
to
talk
about
is
the
upper
and
the
lower
terraces
and
to
talk
about
the
budget
for
those
who
may
be
new
to
our
meetings.
The
original
park
scope
was
for
the
lower
terrace
only
and
the
budget
was
for
the
lower
terrace
only
as
well,
so
that
construction
budget
was
670
thousand
dollars
and,
as
I
said
earlier,
boston
parks
requested
additional
funding
to
add
renovations
to
the
upper
terrace.
A
A
A
So
once
the
city
council
vote
happens,
if
there
is
a
drastic
change
which
we're
not
anticipating
to
that
budget,
we
will
reach
back
out
to
the
community
to
talk
about
possible
prioritization.
But
as
of
right
now,
we
feel
really
comfortable
that
we're
not
going
to
need
to
do
that.
So
the
current
plan
for
the
park
we'll
have
everything
back
up
for
the
spring
or
summer
of
2022
and
utilizing
the
full
1
million
70
thousand
dollar
construction
budget.
A
So
what
we're
going
to
show
tonight
is
the
proposed
design
for
both
the
lower
terrace
with
an
opportunity.
Oh
sorry,
no!
This
is
the
next
slide
with
the
opportunity
to
comment
and
then
the
same
with
the
upper
terrace.
We
will
then
talk
a
little
bit
about
the
idea
of
honoring
jeep
jones
within
the
park
and
then
we'll
finish
off
the
meeting
by
sharing
our
next
steps
and
getting
additional
feedback
on
the
proposed
design.
C
C
C
A
Tyler
before
you
jump
into
the
lower
terrace,
sorry
to
jump
in
really
quickly
the
one
thing
I
forgot
to
say
earlier
that
I
just
wanted
to
note.
We
are
joined
tonight
by
several
members
of
jeep
jones's
family
and
I
just
want
to
acknowledge
that
and
say
thank
you
guys
for
joining
us
tonight.
Sorry
tyler
god.
C
C
C
And
then
play
equipment
for
ages
two
to
five.
Similarly,
a
play
structure
that
offers
a
variety
of
physical
and
kind
of
cognitive
play
and
then
also
a
traditional
post
and
platform
structure
which
has
slides
and
climbing
opportunities,
and
this
dynamic
play
structure
as
we're
calling
it
was.
The
favorite
of
the
majority
of
people.
C
And
we'll
take
a
closer
look
at
these
players
on
the
next
slide
around
we're
also
introducing
a
new
walkway
into
the
park
to
provide
more
direct
access
from
this
entrance
on
king
street
to
the
new
play
areas
that
we'll
keep
the
same
perimeter
walkway
and
just
replace
the
pavement
with
new
smooth
asphalt
pavement
and
we
had
requests
for
a
tricycle
track
to
be
painted
along
the
outer
perimeter.
C
C
The
central
area
will
remain
we'll
replace
the
pavement
which
is
currently
dirty
and
has
graffiti
with
some
new
pavement,
and
we
see
this
remaining
as
a
flexible
gathering
and
event
space
for
the
nearby
religious
organizations
and
other
community
organizations
and
just
families
who
want
to
have
gatherings
there.
It's
a
nice
open
space,
these
seat
walls
will
stay,
they'll
just
be
cleaned
up,
they're
a
little
bit
dirty,
but
they're
still
in
great
shape
overall,
and
we
think
they
provide
a
nice
amphitheater
seating
area
for
the
community.
C
We've
heard
reports
of
a
lot
of
broken
glass
up
there,
which
could
result
from
people
drinking
and
doing
undesirable,
behaviors
up
there.
So
we
think
planting
will
help
to
keep
people
down
in
the
seating
area
and
just
out
of
the
areas
where
they
shouldn't
be
up
here
in
the
last
presentation
and
the
one
before
that
we
looked
at
ideas
on
how
to
activate
this
overluck
space
and
we
explored
options
of
adding
some
tables
and
chairs
or
adding
telescopes.
C
C
C
C
So
anyone
in
a
wheelchair
could
join
the
table
seating
comfortably
and
still
keep
an
eye
on
both
play
areas
we'll
be
keeping
the
same
bench.
Seating.
That's
in
the
park,
there's
currently
two
of
these
black
benches
and
we'll
just
be
providing
new
bench
pad
locations
for
them.
This
one
overlooks
the
new
open
lawn
area,
and
this
one
overlooks
the
play
areas
and
is
kind
of
centrally
located
along
this
walkway
along
the
outer
edges
of
the
play
areas.
C
We'll
have
these
seat
walls
to
both
provide
seating
for
parents
and
kids
and
also
try
to
keep
just
add
some
definition
to
the
play
area.
So
kids
stay
inside
the
play
area
and
don't
wander
off,
we
will
be
including
some
more
comfortable
wooden
seat
tops
with
backrests
in
certain
locations
along
the
wall,
to
just
provide
more
more
comfortable
seating
for
elderly
or
people
who
want
to
sit
there
for
a
longer
duration
of
time.
C
The
age
zero
to
two
play
area
will
be
located
on
the
northern
edge
of
the
park
here
and
we're
picturing.
This
central
play
element
would
be
a
playhouse
like
this,
which
would
just
encourage
kids
to
use
their
imagination,
and
there
will
be
some
fun
elements
along
all
sides
of
this
for
musical
play
opportunities
and
just
cognitive
development.
C
We
can
also
fit
a
musical
play
panel
over
here
along
the
edge
and
we
can
fit
some
of
these
fun.
Half
rubber
ball
steppers
along
the
park
for
kids
to
crawl
over
and
step
over,
and
maybe
even
use
as
an
informal
seating
element
ages.
Two
to
five
play
will
have
the
dynamic
play
structure
which
is
post
and
platform.
A
D
A
So
it's
a
playhouse
similar,
and
the
reason
that
we
looked
at
a
different
manufacturer
is
that
the
two
to
five
play
structure
is
the
same
manufacturer
as
this
yellow
one.
And
so
we
wanted
to
try
to
keep
the
play
equipment
on
the
lower
terrace
as
the
same
manufacturer,
but
it
has
a
lot
of
the
same
play
value
as
the
other
one.
Does
it's
just
a
different
style,
but
it's
still
a
playhouse.
A
D
E
I
just
wanted
to
see
to
say
that
I'm
I
like
everything
that
I'm
saying
so
far.
It's
just
matches
the
survey
and
what
we
hope
we
were
hoping
can
you
tyler
go
to
the
first
slide
that
you
were
talking
about
the
question
that
you
had
on
that
space
yeah
the
overlook
space.
E
Is
that
something
that
you
thought
about,
putting
the
telescopes
and
or
if
we
say
we
don't
have
we
don't
need
it?
There
is
nothing
else
that
can
be
replaced
in
that
area,
or
is
it
a
useful
I
mean
I
just
want
to
put
some
equipment,
so
we
don't
just
use
the
wasted
space.
A
Part
of
the
concern
with
the
overlook
jumping
back
is
the
negative
behavior
that
happens
there
now
right
in
terms
of
people
throwing
glass
bottles
over
onto
that
hillside
concerns
about
gambling
drugs.
Other
things
that
happen
there
so
part
of
what
we
talked
about
and
heard
from
folks
is
that
if
we
add
in
seating
or
other
things,
there's
the
concern
that
that
makes
that
activity
more
enjoyable
in
that
space
potentially,
so
we
wanted
to
come
back
to
the
community,
nobody
was
overwhelmingly
excited
about.
Yes,
let's
do
something
there.
A
This
is
going
to
solve
all
the
problems,
so
we
wanted
to
be
able
to
come
back
to
you
guys
to
say
you
know:
should
we
leave
it
the
way
it
is
and
spend
that
money
elsewhere?
If
there's
not,
this
overwhelming
excitement.
So
maybe
once
we
talk
about
the
upper
terrace
and
some
of
the
additional
items
that
we
thought
could
make
sense
there,
maybe
we
revisit
that
overlook
and
sort
of
try
to
figure
out.
A
Does
it
make
sense
to
put
something
there,
because
if
it's
really
important
to
the
community,
we
can
look
at
shifting
some
of
the
funds
around
and
just
reallocating
where
some
of
those
items
go.
E
I
think
that
makes
sense,
I
think,
just
let's
use
that
budget
somewhere
else.
That
makes
more
sense.
Okay,
I
understand
that
sounds
good
and
I'm
not
seeing
any
like
a
water,
fountains
or
war
sprinkles
in
this
area.
So
I'm
just
wondering:
is
there
intention
to
do
that
or
it's
going
to
be
allocated
somewhere
else.
A
Yes,
not
on
the
lower
terrace.
There
is
not
water
coming
to
the
lower
terrace.
Now
so
adding
any
additional
water
in
terms
of
water
play
or
drinking
fountains
would
be
really
expensive
on
the
lower
terrace,
however,
with
water
already
coming
to
the
upper
terrace,
that's
where
the
water
play
and
drinking
fountains
would
be.
A
F
Terrace,
hello,
hi
hi,
my
name
is
carl
sadisco
I
joined
in
tonight.
I'm
sorry,
I
missed
the
other
meetings,
but
that's
okay.
I
was
really
interested
in
what
what
what
the
what
the
final
draft
was
going
to
be,
and
it
really
looks
nice.
I
have
to
say
my
hat
off
to
whoever
everybody
that
put
their
input
and
worked
on
this.
It
really
looks
good.
I've
been
a
resident
in
roxbury
for
45
years,
so
I'm
very
familiar
with
the
space.
F
I
don't
go
in
there
because
I'm
I'm
too
old
to
be
playing
it
with
like
young
young
kids,
but
I,
but
I
do
use
the
space
coming
and
going
for
access
to
ruxbury
crossing
t
station,
I'm
usually
earlier
in
the
morning
and
then
sometimes
more
later
at
night
and
as
you
said,
I
stopped
using
this
area
for
a
pass-through
because
it
was
sort
of
hairy
going
through
there
at
nighttime.
F
F
And
lighting
is
a
big
factor
for
safety,
of
course,
at
night
time,
because
I
think,
as
everybody
knows
across
the
street
the
old,
what
was
that
the
king
park,
or
whatever
it
was
in
the
back?
There
was
an
absolute
disgrace.
F
F
So
I
love
everything
that
you're
doing
the
over
look
space
is
is
a
magnet
for
I
I
don't
want
to
say
it's
magnet
for
teenagers,
because
you
know
they
have
a
great
sport
to
overlook
everything.
So
if
they
see
police
coming,
they
can
get
out
of
there
fast
enough,
because
you
know
it
gives
them
a
good,
a
good
vantage
point.
F
So
what
what
I'm
wondering
is
that,
because
this
is
right
at
the
entrance
more
or
less
of
roxbury
and
it's
such
a
visible,
you
know
like
welcome
to
roxbury
spot
for
everybody
coming
that
doesn't
they're
not
familiar
with
roxbury.
I
think
that
lighting
at
night
and
really
keeping
it
maintained
and
clean-
and
I
don't
know
what,
like
maybe
you
know
the
gates
and
in
the
lighting,
would
prevent
it
being
a
magnet
for
kids
at
night.
You
know
hanging
out
and
and
throwing
bottles
around
or
whatever
they
do
up
there.
F
I
don't
know
if
that's,
if
that's
anything
and
that's
in
the
plans
that
you
have,
but
I
think
so
far
what
I've
seen
is
great
and
one
other
question:
what
about
the
steers?
Are
they
going
to
be
repaved
or
we
done
anything
to
them?.
A
The
stairs
aren't
part
of
the
current
scope.
They
actually
are
in
pretty
good
condition
other
than
some
lighting
that
tyler
and
I
looked
at
over
there
and
to
answer
the
question
about
the
gates.
So
what
we're
looking
at
right
now
is
gates
along
king
street.
There's
a
lot
of
traffic
that
comes
down
there
and
with
the
introduction
of
children's
play
to
the
lower
terrace.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
it's
not
easy
for
kids
to
run
out
into
that
street,
so
we're
looking
at
putting
the
gates
there.
A
However,
boston
parks
does
not
lock
those
gates
at
night,
so
it's
not
a
matter
of
them
being
locked,
it's
just
there
so
that
kids
can't
run
out
into
the
street
and
in
terms
of
lighting,
I
think
tyler
will
be
able
to
talk
a
little
bit
more
about
the
lighting
and
things
that
we're
looking
at,
especially
as
it
relates
to
the
upper
terrace
as
we
get
to
that
portion
too.
F
F
A
Absolutely
and-
and
you
know,
lighting
was
brought
up
at
our
first
community
meeting
and
when
we
talked
about
adding
in
the
upper
terrace
and
tyler,
and
I
went
out
and
did
specifically
a
nighttime
site
visit,
so
that
we
really
could
see
what
it
looks
like
and
what
the
park
feels
like
and-
and
I
will
say,
going
from
the
upper
terrace.
I
had
parked
down
off
of
malcolm
x
and
walking
down
the
stairs
and
out
to
my
car.
A
I
subconsciously
felt
more
comfortable,
walking
out
to
king
street
and
walking
down
king
street
to
malcolm
x,
as
opposed
to
walking
through
the
park,
and
I
work
for
the
parks
department.
I
love
parks
like
I
would
normally
purposely
choose
to
walk
through
a
park
instead
of
on
a
street.
So
I
I
100
agree
and
that's
something
that
tyler
and
I
are
looking
at
and
we're
working
with
boston
street
lighting
on
for
the
project.
F
Yeah
and-
and
you
know
what
it's
it's-
a
problem
in
a
lot
of
parks-
I
mean
it's
just
it's
just
it's
a
fact
that
we
have
to
accept.
I
guess
you
know,
because
you
know
what,
where,
where
do
kids
want
to
go
at
night,
where
they're
not
going
to
be,
you
know
rented,
so
they
right
like
an
outdoor
space.
You
know-
and
this
is
pretty-
why
not
hang
out.
A
Right-
and
it
is
this
fine
balance
of
lighting
for
safety
and
people
walking
through,
but
not
lighting,
so
much
that
you're
lighting
it
for
use
right
in
the
evenings,
because
you
don't
want
it
to
become
a
magnet
for
people
to
come
to
use
because
it's
the
lit
place
to
come
hang
out.
So
there
is
that
fine
balance,
and
we
we
work
with
the
boston,
police
and
also
street
lighting,
to
make
sure
that
we
can
try
to
achieve
that.
That
right
balance.
F
And
one
quick
other
question
since
I
don't
know
if
this
is
in
the
budget
or
not,
but
is
there
any
type
of
like,
like
a
safety
call
box
in
mind
to
be
put
in
there
like
not
I'm
not
talking
for
like
a
night
issue
or
something
but
say
like
if
a
kid
has
an
accident
during
the
day
falls
off
something.
Is
there
some
type
of
do?
You
know
what
I
mean
like
some
kind
of
innovation.
A
G
Lauren
are
there
with
the
lighting?
Will
they
be
going?
Will
the
lights
go
off
at
a
certain
time
at
night,
like
most
of
the
other
parks.
A
So
the
lights
inside
the
park
are
actually
run
by
boston
street
lighting,
so
I
would
have
to
double
check
with
them
to
see
what
whether
they
have
timers
on
them,
because
my
guess
is,
it
would
be
the
same
as
what
the
street
lights
are,
which
I
think
are
set
on
timers,
but
I
don't
they
may
be
on
all
evening
again.
That's
part
of
why
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we're
balancing
for
safety
versus
usability.
A
C
C
Absolutely
so
here's
an
image
of
the
existing
upper
terrace
and
we'll
be
talking
about
some
of
the
improvements
we're
proposing
to
make
so
the
goals
for
the
upper
terrace
primarily
improve
the
play
area
for
ages.
Five
to
twelve
repair,
ideally
replace
the
water
play
elements
that
are
up
there
if
the
budget
allows
it,
but
at
the
very
minimum,
we'll
be
repairing
them
back
to
working
order.
C
C
C
C
This
is
a
toddler
swing
which
is
no
longer
appropriate
for
this
5
to
12
play
area.
So
we'll
remove
this
arm
with
the
toddler
swing,
to
allow
more
room
for
new
play
equipment
and
we'll
keep
these
two
traditional
swings
we'll
keep
the
splash
pad
and
either
replace
or
repair
the
water
play
equipment.
Hopefully
we
can
replace
it
if
the
budget
allows
it.
C
C
We
would
like
to
replace
that
water
play
equipment
with
something
more
like
this
bubbler
fountain
water
play
style,
which
is
just
a
softer,
more
gentler
water
play
type
and
then
down
here
we're
including
a
blocks
climbing
structure
which
is
kind
of
like
a
geometric
rock
wall
that
kids
can
climb
up
and
they
can
hang
out
on
top
of
the
blocks
with
their
friends,
we'll
be
keeping
this
existing
tree
as
well,
and
both
benches
that
are
currently
in
the
playground.
C
So
we
heard
requests
for
table
tennis
for
the
older
kids,
not
everyone
likes
to
play
basketball.
So
we
thought
that
a
ping
pong
table
would
be
great
here
in
this
open
area
next
to
the
seating
area
and
it
fits
comfortably
and
there's
room
for
running
around
on
all
sides
to
play
ping
pong
and
here's
an
example
of
the
table
that
we
would
install
it's
a
really
heavy
duty,
durable,
concrete
ping
pong
table
with
a
metal
net.
G
E
E
The
spinner
is
really
a
good
equipment,
but
it's
very
stiff
and
it
doesn't
move
that
much
so
I
use
that
space
a
lot
with
my
kids,
so
whenever
the
kids
go
in
they're
just
very
hard
to
spin
it,
so
it's
just
equipment
is
there,
but
no
one
uses
it
that
much
the
kids,
because
it's
very
hard
to
move
it
around.
So
that's
the
only
thing
I
might
point
out
just
to
fix
it.
If
we,
if
it's
you
know,
instead
of
removing
it,
you
can
just
fix.
A
It
thank
you
very
soon.
I
hadn't
heard
that
feedback
yet
so
we'll
take
a
look
at
that
and
see
if
it's
something
that
can
be
repaired,
but
if,
if
it's
something
that
can't
be
we'll,
definitely
take
a
look
at
making
sure
something
is
there
that
works?
So
thank
you.
A
No,
the
seesaw
would
be
removed,
and
that
would
be
switched
out
with
the
blocks
climber
and
part
of
what
we
were
really
looking
at,
especially
with
the
addition
of
the
younger
kids
at
the
lower
terrace
and
this
being
next
to
the
middle
school.
Making
sure
that
this
playground
really
geared
toward
those
older
kids
and
the
seesaws
just
really
aren't,
aren't
going
to
hold
their
attention.
A
And
fear
dosa.
Can
I
ask
a
quick
question
on
the
on
the
spinner?
A
Is
it
just
that
it's
slow
or
is
it
that
it
doesn't
work
like
it
doesn't,
because
I
know
that
sometimes
those
those
spinners
are
limited
in
speed
based
on
how
they're
built
so
does
it
seem
to
be
that
it's
slow
or
does
it
seem
that
it's
it's
like
jammed
out.
A
Okay,
perfect,
I'm
actually
going
to
be
out
on
the
site
on
friday
and
then
I'll
take
a
look
at
it.
When
I'm
out
there.
E
E
Of
course,
is
there
going
to
be
any
landscape
available
in
the
area
just
like
the
trees
or
the
grass
are
very
dead
and
if
the
park
gets
fixed,
so
we
want
a
whole
place
to
look
beautiful.
A
Well,
should
we
talk
about
one
of
the
one
of
the
other
things
and
we
don't
have
any
definites
yet
and
we
can
share
with
the
community
once
it
is
decided.
One
of
the
things
that
we
talked
to
jeep
jones's
family
about
is
putting
some
interpretive
signage
in
the
park,
and
it's
something
that
we
talked
about
in
the
survey
of
you
know.
A
Just
making
sure
you
know,
git
will
actually
getting
an
idea
from
the
community
is
if
they,
if
they
knew
who
jeep
jones
was
and
what
his
contribution
was
and
what
his
connection
to
the
park
was,
and
we
were
really
pleased
to
see
that
many
people
did
know
that
connection
and
wanted
to
see
more
about
who
he
was
so
we're
going
to
be
putting
an
interpretive
sign
in
the
park
about
him
and
we'll
be
working
with
the
community
with
sorry
with
the
family
and
we've
already
started
talking
with
them
and
they're
going
to
help
us
with
the
narrative.
A
That's
going
to
go
there
and
some
pictures
so
that
we'll
be
able
to
honor
him
in
a
way
that
when
people
come
to
the
park,
they'll
know
more
than
just
his
name.
On
the
sign,
so
that's
something
that
we'll
be
doing
and
parks
and
the
design
team
are
going
to
be
working
with
his
family.
On
that.
C
And
for
those
of
you
who
may
not
know
jeep
jones's
legacy,
he
lived
in
roxbury
for
a
very
long
time.
He
was
born
in
1933
and
sadly
passed
away.
Last
year.
This
park
was
dedicated
to
him
in.
A
There
was
a
comment
in
the
chat
about
adding
shade
to
the
play
areas
and
I'm
wondering
tyler,
if
it's
possible
to
jump
back
to
the
lower
terrace
and
to
show
some
of
the
shade
trees
that
we're
talking
about
proposing
there
and
andrew
in
terms
of
shade
one
of
the
things
that
we
balance
in
the
parks
department
is
shade
structures,
the
ones
that
are
you
see
some
places
that
have
like
the
fabric,
shade
sales,
those
have
to
be
taken
down
and
put
up
every
year
and
because
of
snow
loading.
A
So
in
new
england,
it's
not
it's
not
very
practical,
with
as
many
parks
as
we
have
to
be
taking
those
up
and
down
so
a
lot
of
times,
we'll
look
to
make
sure
that
we
can
get
roofs
on
some
of
the
play
structures.
So
the
two
to
five
play
structure.
Although
it
is
not
shown
here,
we
can
actually
have
some
roofs
that
are
added
to
that
to
provide
shade
within
the
play
surface
itself
and
also
the
younger
one.
A
The
younger
little
playhouse
does
have
that
roof
for
shade
and
then
tyler
can
you
talk
through
some
of
the
planting?
You
were
suggesting,
adding
to
add
eventual
shade
when
those
trees
grow.
A
Tyler
you're
sorry
you're
you're
crackling
a
little
bit
with
your
voice.
I
don't
know
if
there's
something
that
can
be
adjusted.
C
C
G
C
Okay,
so
we
are
placing
some
shade
trees
along
the
outer
edges
of
the
play
areas,
and
these
trees
will
provide
shade
for
the
play
areas,
the
seating
around
the
play
areas
and
then
also
the
seating
and
gathering
area,
and
eventually
these
trees
will
grow
out
and,
for
example,
this
tree
will
cover
all
around
here.
So
a
lot
of
this
play
area
will
be
covered
in
under
these
big
shade
trees,
and
we've
also
got
some
smaller
trees
along
the
outer
edges.
A
Plan
there
was
another
question
about
coming
in
from
carl.
You
were
asking
about
attracting
dog
walkers.
Is
there?
Is
there
a
concern
with
you?
It
says
me
about
receptacles,
so
there
definitely
will
be
trash
receptacles
in
the
park.
That's
standard
with
boston
parks
to
have
trash
receptacles.
A
We
don't
typically
have
the
dog
waste
bags
unless
it
is
a
dog
area.
Is
that
what
the
question
is
carl
is?
Could
we
add
those
in.
F
Yeah,
where
I
live,
is
I'm
next
to
house
park.
A
F
And
you
know
that's
a
big
attraction
for
dog
walkers
there
right
and
the
city
did
install
like
you
know.
You
know
special
trash
well,
not
really
special
trash
belt,
but
but
more
trash
barrels,
and
they
do
have
a
receptacle
like
on
a
pole.
That
is,
somebody
in
the
neighborhood
has
a
key
and
they
refill
it
with
the
doggy
bags
that
you
know
they
can
put
the
waste
in.
F
A
Thanks
we
can
yeah,
we
can.
We
can
take
a
look
at
that.
G
I
kind
of
I
think,
with
dogs
in
that
area.
I
don't
think
the
area
is
big
enough.
That
dogs
should
be
running
around
with
children
in
the
park.
That
is,
and
I
honestly
would
not
prefer
to
see
dogs
running
around
when
when
kids
start
running
dogs
stop
running,
and
then
that
creates
other
problems.
G
I
think
it's
a
safety
issue
and
I
also
feel
like
they're
everybody's,
not
going
to
pick
up
their
dog's
poop
and
you've
got
kids
that
are
going
to
run
around
and
they're
going
to
step
in
it,
and
I
just
think
if
we
could
deter
that
if
there
were
scientists,
saying
no
dogs
or
you
know,
but
I
just
don't.
I
don't
advocate
for
dogs
being
in
a
park
with
kids.
A
Thank
you,
melissa.
I
am
glad
you
said
that,
because
one
of
the
things
that
does
go-
and
I'm
in
my
brain-
I'm
still
not
thinking
about
this
with
fully
with
the
playground
being
added
like
we
were
with
the
gates,
but
when
we
do
have
playgrounds,
we
do
put
signage
about
no
dogs
because
of
that
exact
concern.
So
I
didn't
think
about
that
in
regards
to
carl's
question,
but
there
would
be
signage
added
to
the
lower
terrace
like
it
is
at
other
playgrounds
for
no
dogs
and
the
upper
terrace
as
well
for
the
playground.
A
Yes,
it
would.
It
would
be
in
there
because
it's
a
fenced
playground
right
in
that
contained
area,
that
the
sign
would
only
be
on
that
playground,
fencing.
G
Yeah
I
mean
that
was
also
one
of
the
things
that
I
was
asking
you
for
the
older
kids,
if
there's
some
flat
grass
area
where
it
is
now,
that's
more
space
for
them
to
be
able
to
run,
or
even
my
son
loves
playing
tag.
So
that
would
be
great
for
him
and
10
and
11
year
olds,
who
like
to
play
tag.
They
can
run
around
in
that
area
so
again
that
it
just
creates
a
problem
to.
A
A
That's:
okay,
sorry,
the
somali
interpretation
ended
and
jumped
back
into
the
main
meeting,
so
just
to
let
everybody
know
that
this
will
be
the
last
community
meeting.
But
throughout
the
process
I
do
like
to
send
out
emails
to
everybody.
That's
been
involved
just
to
keep
people
up
to
date
as
to
what's
going
on.
So
if
you
aren't
getting
my
emails
about
this
meeting,
please
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
me
and
I'll
put
my
email
address
in
the
chat
to
make
sure
that
you
guys
can.
A
Let
me
know
if
you
want
to
keep
up
to
date
on
things.
As
I
was
saying,
the
draft
city
budget
announcement
is
supposed
to
be
coming
out
in
the
next
few
weeks,
which
will
be
publishing
what
I
was
talking
about
earlier
with
the
increased
proposed
budget
for
this
park.
We're
going
to
be
working
this
spring
on
interpretive
signage,
with
jeep
jones's
family.
A
We
will
we
being
the
design
team.
Not
necessarily
me
will
be
working
on
the
design,
development
and
construction
documents,
based
on
the
comments
that
we
heard
today
and
finalizing
getting
ready
to
bid
the
project,
and
then
this
summer
we'll
have
the
city
council
vote
on
the
budget,
which
will
finalize
the
budget
for
the
project
and,
like
I
said
earlier,
we're
optimistic
that
that's
not
going
to
change
and
then
we
will
get
the
full
value
for
that.
But
again,
if
anything
changes
we'll
reach
back
out
to
the
community
to
talk
about
prioritization
if
it's
needed.
A
So
then
this
fall
we're
hoping
that
construction
will
start,
and
by
next
spring
summer
we
will
have
a
brand
new
jeep
jones
renovated
park
for
everybody
to
enjoy.
Does
anybody
else
have
any
other
questions
for
us.
E
E
If
there's
a
any
the
statements
and
the
this
history
about
jeep
jones,
if
there
is
a
possibility
to
have
a
little
sign
in
in
somali
language,
few
words
of
about
him
in
somali
language,
so
moms
and
people
that
use
there,
they
will
understand
his
legacy
as
well
in
their
own
language.
So
that's
something
I'm
hoping
that
you
can
include
it
so
that
we
can
appreciate
his
legacy
more
and
the
other
thing
I
was
going
to
mention
is:
there
is
a
the
connection
between
the
lower
terrace
and
the
upper
terrace.
E
There
is
this
steep
long
stairs?
So
I
was
just
wondering:
is
there
anything
on
the
project
saying
that
for
the
wheelchair
users
and
for
maybe
moms
with
the
strollers,
if
there's
a
ramp
or
something
to
connect
between
the
lower
end
and
the
upper
terrace?
Is
there
any
plan
for
that?
As
well
all
right.
A
So
I
can
address
both
of
those
so
yeah.
I
think
that's
a
really
great
suggestion
about
the
signage
in
somali.
I
think
that's,
that's
really
a
great
suggestion
and
we
can
work
on
that
as
we
get
the
text
and
finalize
that
with
the
community
or
sorry
with
the
family
and
in
terms
of
the
ramps.
Unfortunately,
there
isn't
part
of
this
project.
Part
of
the
issue
is
it's
such
a
great
change
that
we
would.
We
literally
would
use
the
entire
park
as
a
switchback
ramp
to
make
up
that
distance.
A
H
Justin
side,
I
don't
know
if
this
makes
a
difference
but
hi
I'm
nadine,
hi.
A
H
A
G
A
Well,
thank
you,
everyone
and
if
anybody
thinks
of
anything
else
or
any
other
comments,
let
me
make
sure
that
I
put
my
email
address
in
the
chat
like
I
promised
that
I
would
so
make
sure
that
if
you
have
any
other
comments
or
any
other
thoughts
after
tonight,
please
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
me
and
then
also
if
you
are
not
getting
my
emails.
Please
also
feel
free
to
reach
out
to
me
because
I'm
happy
to
add
you
to
my
email
list
as
well.
