Description
Reunión virtual sobre el proyecto colaborativo entre la Ciudad de Boston y la MBTA en Columbus Avenue entre Walnut Avenue y Centre Street. Este proyecto implementará carriles del bus en el centro de la calle, nuevas plataformas para abordar los buses y mejoras para la seguridad peatonal.
A
A
My
name
is
williams.
I
am
a
transportation
planner
from
the
city
of
boston
and
several
colleagues
are
accompanying
me
today
as
a
married
couple,
who
is
the
director
of
public
transportation
from
the
city
of
boston
to
our
interns
from
northeastern
am
university
and
my
colleague
andrés
formento
from
the
nba.
A
So
thank
you
very
much
for
being
here
today.
We
are
going
to
talk
about
some
transportation
improvements
in
colombes
avenue
and
agustín
square,
and
before
we
start
I
I
would
like
to
make
a
few
things
quick
first,
so
you
know
this
meeting
will
be
recorded
and
uploaded
to
the
project
website
later,
and
there
will
be
time
for
questions
and
comments
after
the
presentation,
please
put
a
microphone
on
youtube
when
you
are
not
speaking
but
feel
free
to
write,
questions
or
comments
in
the
chat,
and
please
treat
the
other
participants
with
respect
and
finally
mu.
A
And
the
other
project,
that
is,
a
collaboration
between
the
city
of
boston
and
the
nba,
are
bus
lanes
on
colombia,
avenue
and
some
better
ones
for
pedestrian
safety
on
this
street.
We
are
talking
about
a
corridor
of
300
like
8
miles
or
a
little
more
of
a
kilometer
that
extends
from
this
womad
and
serves
street
next
to
frank
in
park
in
the
south,
passing
through
boston
square
and
arriving
at
the
intersection
of
the
center
street
and
richie
stick
and
next
to
jackson
square.
A
Within
this
plan,
we
set
some
very
clear.
Modal
split
goals
is
say
to
the
proportion
of
trips
made
all
the
different
modes
of
transport,
and
one
of
those
goals
is
to
reduce
driving
by
only
50%
to
go
down
and
reduce
it
with
this
type
of
traction
to
fight
against
climate
change
and
at
the
same
time
we
want
to
increase
the
use
of
means
of
transport
to
healthy
and
sustainable
assets,
such
as
public
transport,
to
travel
on
foot,
and
we
want
to
quadruple
the
use
of
the
bicycle
within
these
years.
A
A
That
wants
to
say
that
nowadays,
it
is
a
street
dominated
by
cars,
that
there
are
four
lanes
or
more
of
barak
for
cars
and
parking
on
our
sides
that
it
is
a
bit
of
an
environment
hostile
to
other
modes
of
transport,
and
we
want
to
change
to
this
and
make
the
street
works
much
better
for
nine
other
modes
of
transportation.
We
also
have
the
dog
plan,
which
was
an
initiative
of
another
public
agency.
A
And
this
plan
deals
with
land
use
issues
of
affordable
housing
issues,
but
also
made
some
recommendations
on
transportation
and
that
are
aligned
with
what
we
want
to
do
in
colombia.
You
know
yum
and
finally,
the
city
box,
transportation
action
plan
was
an
initiative
of
the
boston
department
of
transportation
department
and
arose
from
a
public
process.
A
So
we
are
seeing
the
route
or
stretch
of
this
project,.
A
good
part
of
this
project
coincides
with
the
project
in
Colombia,.
We
know
that
we
are
discussing
it
now,
and
a
few
words
about
the
public
agencies
involved
in
this
process.
On
the
one
hand,
we
have
the
boston
department
of
transportation,
we
manage
the
traffic
lights,
the
width
of
the
streets
to
the
regulations
of
parking
stations
and
the
use
of
the
lanes,
and
on
the
other
hand,
we
have
our
colleagues
from
the
nba
and
they
maintain
the
operations
and
facilities
of
the
public
transport
system.
A
We
had
some
public
conversations
with
the
community
that
culminated
in
late
January
in
two
public
meetings,
one
at
the
boston,
wine
school
and
another
at
the
web,
tints
public
library-
and
we
also
made
visits
to
small
businesses
talking
to
the
owners.
Employees
are
leaving
pamphlets
with
information
about
the
project
we
have
presented
several
times
to
the
neighborhood
association
of
295,
venevalores
sociais
and
the
public
service
committee
of
them
also
capture
me
with
important
actors
such
as
festivals
and
appendix
that
develop
and
maintain
affordable
housing
and
in
the
neighborhood.
A
We
also
have
the
main
streets
school
and
the
business
leaders
of
gusto
the
council
of
tenants
of
carme
homes,
the
boston
housing
authority
that
maintains
the
220
apartments.
There
are
in
boston
square,
which
are
important
homes
for
the
elderly,
and
we
also
had
several
meetings
with
state
representatives
and
municipal
councilors.
It's
about
the
project
and
what
we've
come
up
with
from
this
process
and
from
these
conversations
are
a
number
of
concerns
with
current
conditions.
A
A
Boston
in
the
case
of
the
nba
and
while
bus
lanes
such
as
those
implemented
in
brain,
a
washington
string,
respond
that
go
next
to
a
curbside
parking
lane
have
been
successful
in
moving
buses
more
quickly
and
efficiently
have
some
difficulties
because
there
are
people
parking
or
double
parking
in
the
bus
lane,
while
other
drivers
use
the
bus
lane
as
if
it
were
a
general
traffic
lane.
And
here
what
we
want
to
do
is
eliminate
these
problems,
with
a
good
design
and
in
the
center
of
the
street.
A
A
A
A
And
this
is
the
view
from
the
general
traffic
lane.
You
can
see
that
we
have
a
wall
to
protect
passengers
while
they
wait
and
also
a
fence
on
top
of
that
wall,
to
provide
even
more
safety
and
comfort
for
passengers.
While
they
wait
the
Doge
and
now
we
are
going
to
talk
a
little
more
about
the
facilities
of
these
new
bus
stops,.
As
I
already
mentioned,.
A
A
There
was
a
pedestrian
fatality
in
2016
in
es
at
our
location,
and
we
want,
with
this
project,
to
improve
safety
before
this
important
crossing,
and
we
are
going
to
implement
these
extensions
of
the
to
do
so.
I
commented
before
and
also
these
lines
so
that
drivers
make
the
crossing
more
in
advance,
and
we
are
also
going
to
implement
one
of
those
signs
that
have
the
lights
to
be
changing.
To
make
this
intersection
much
more
visible
and
safer
and
continuing
towards
234.
A
We
are
going
to
paint
some
new
zebra
crossings
to
rebuild
some
from
grass
ramps
on
the
corners
to
make
those
ramps
accessible
accessible
to
people
in
wheelchairs,
and
we
arrive
here
next
to
the
double
point
apartments
and
we
go
to
the
second
stop
of
bus.
That
is
also
very
close
to
the
current
location
of
that
bus
stop
and
we
keep
it
stop
here,
because
we
recognize
that
e.
A
A
A
And
following
along
the
corridor,
we
can
see
that
the
next
pair
ada
is
here
in
break
street.
We
are
going
to
introduce
new
zebra
crossings
and
also
in
these
two
streets
respond
because
and
they
walk
with
respect
to,
we
are
going
to
introduce
other
extensions
of
the
sidewalks,
because
this
is
crossing
to
these
crossings.
Today
they
are
quite
long
and
the
Visibility
is
poor
to
take
for
fools.
A
The
mac
center
is
around
here
and
in
addition
to
all
the
dense
housing
that
exists
around
here
and
finally
arriving
at
sento
street
and
as
a
joke,
you
can
also
see
that
we
are
going
to
introduce
a
couple
of
additional
zebra
crossings
in
the
flesh
and
meryl
streep
and
coming
to
this
intersection.
Another
benefit
of
having
them
in
the
center
of
the
street
is
that,
as
surely
you
You
already
know,
the
bus
has
to
turn
left
here
to
enter
the
jackson
square
station
and
having
the
bus
here
in
the
center.
A
It
is
already
positioned
to
make
this
transition,
and
we
are
also
going
to
have
a
traffic
light
specifically
for
the
sweets
that
go
here
to
give
like
a
few
seconds
of
green
light
for
the
bus
before
general
traffic.
Why
can
you
skip
the
traffic
not
to
get
here
efficiently
and
if
we
continue
going
south,
we
see
that
it
is
basically
the
same
northbound
generally
we
have
one
lane
of
traffic
in
general,
except
at
some
major
intersections,
although
we
have
room
to
introduce
lanes
for
left
or
right
turn
like
driven
suites
in
august.
I.
A
Returning
to
the
presentation,
I
would
like
to
comment
quickly
in
a
little
more
detail:
the
redesign
of
the
school
and
the
transportation
improvements
for
the
neighborhood
that
we
are
contemplating
as
part
of
this
project
to
the
boundaries
of
the
project
again
with
this
kind
of
strange
shape
with
red
line,
and
it
extends
and
extended.
Next
to
about
this
district
in
the
north,
to
the
5th
arrondissement
in
the
south
to
water
house,
I
was
in
spirit
to
the
west
and
to
the
software
with
to
the
west.
A
Then
we
are
basically
talking
about
the
intersection
of
the
young
teens
and
the
network
of
streets
of
the
neighboring
neighborhood
and
the
objectives
of
this
design
are
prioritizing
the
safety
and
comfort
of
cyclists,
prioritizing
walking
pedestrian
safety
and
the
ccit
to
accessibility.
We
also
want
to
manage
the
flow
of
traffic
understanding
that
colombia
has
come.
A
A
We
want
to
connect
franklin
park
and
mock
racers
and
cyber
street.
The
software
is
cordon
and
these
arrows
a
don't,
really
indicate
to
exact
routes,
because
that
is
what
we
want
to
define
with
the
community
and
idea
ntify,
which
are
the
appropriate
measures
for
each
street
to
handle
the
number
of
vehicles
that
are
using
the
streets
of
the
neighborhood
at
the
speed
of
the
vehicles
that
are
using
the
residential
streets.
A
And
we
want
to
make
connections
to
the
north
of
Colombia
and
Agustín
is
web
to
do
safe
crossings
on
the
larger
streets
like
washington
and
colombia,
know,
and
also
to
offer
safe
options,
south
of
boston
square
and
as
later
then,
the
schedule
of
this
work
for
the
five
name
avenue
lanes.
We
are
going
to
do
a
design
review
at
the
end
in
in
august,
a
construction
will
start
in
late
summer,
2020
or
spring
2021,
and
the
redesign
of
august
square
and
the
connections
of
the
bicycle
network
and
measure
this
traffic
calm
associated
with.
A
We
will
do
the
planning
process,
design
and
community
process
from
summer
to
winter
of
this
year.
Measures
to
improve
conditions
for
cyclists
will
be
prioritized
is
one
of
the
things
we
had
a
lot
of
in
community
conversations
and
public
meetings
is
while
there
is
a
general
rush,
a
lot
of
support
for
bus
lanes.
A
lot
of
people
were
disappointed
by
the
lack
of
dedicated
bike
infrastructure
on
avenue
colors.
A
So
we
want
to
move
forward
to
work,
to
create
safe
and
comfortable
conditions
for
bicycles
as
quickly
as
possible
to
accompany
the
introduction
or
implementation
of
these
lanes.
Of
woods,
and
also
as
I
have
already
discussed,
we
are
going
to
look
for
opportunities
to
do
best
practices
in
the
short
term
and
implemented
according
to
an
accelerated
schedule,
and
the
permanent
implementation
on
this
project
would
probably
be
in
2021.
A
So
I've
talked
more
than
enough
and
then
I'm
going
to
shut
up
and
say:
do
you
have
questions
comments,
concerns
whatever
and
we
can
attend
to
you
now,
and
here
is
also
the
information
and
contact
information
at
my
email
and
a
link
to
the
project
web
page
here
on
this
web
page.
If
you
haven't
done
it
yet,
you
can
also
sign
up
for
the
e
-mail
list
for
news
about
the
project.
