From YouTube: Public Improvement Commission Hearing 5-24-18
Description
The Boston Public Improvement Commission (PIC) is the owner and regulator of the City's rights of way. The PIC plays an integral role in the City's development and permitting process. From the restaurant that wants to add a seasonal cafe on the public sidewalk, to the developer who wants to construct an underground parking garage for a new housing development, or the homeowner who wants to add an architectural feature to a house that juts into the public space, each must seek approval from the PIC to have its private venture occupy public space, either permanently or on a licensed basis

to
fund
the

improvements
for
this
tactile
intervention
at
Franklin
Street.
It
involves
a
paint
and
ballads,
as
well
as
a
creation
of
a
bike
lane.
The
idea
is
to
do
this
work
this
summer
and
millennium,
we'll
take
care
of
it
for
approximately
two
years
as
a
temporary
installation
take
feedback.
During
that
time,
the
ultimate
goal
will
be
to
possibly
do
a
permanent
installation.

We
met
with
both
of
them
are
the
fire
department
and
Homeland
Security
Homeland
Security.
They
are
fine
with
the
layout
and
everything.
Their
biggest
concern
was
to
know
the
crash
rating
on
the
planters
which
we
are
getting
to
them
and
the
fire
department.
We
have
met
with,
they
provided
comments
and
we
have
responded
to
all
of
the
dimensional
changes
and
requirements
and
the
only
thing
outstanding
is
we
are
going
to
have
a
test
with
a
ladder
truck.
F
I'm
wondering
if
we
can
shorten
it
or
we
can
watch
the
situation,
see
how
it
works
so
that
a
car
things
are
going
straight
and
all
of
a
sudden
wants
to
go
right.
They
get
cross
the
bike
lane
for
that
whole
block
demo
China
an
arch
that
they
cross
the
bike
lane
at
any
point,
so
I'm
wondering
if
we
need
to
force
them
to
make
a
decision
of
earlier
so
that
planks
don't
have
to
be
watching
at
what
point?
Is
the
car
gonna
cross
the
bike
lane
and
make
a
right?
Okay.

We
didn't
you
just
met
with
them
yesterday
and
went
through
it
all
and
they
asked
to
keep
the
plans
and
they
asked
for
the
crash
rating
on
the
planters
fire
has
we,
you
know
we
gave
them
plans
and
we
received
written
comments
and
their
requirements
for
dimensions.
They've
asked
for
a
couple
of
places
where
we
had
18
feet
to
become
20
feet
and
we've
accommodated
that
and
we're
waiting
to
if
the
driver
is
a
success.
That
I
think
that
that
will
be
the
extent
of
their
comments.
B
A
Thing
we
just
because
it's
snow
emergency
route
in
a
major
snowstorm
there
will
be
no
cars.
Three
parking
against
this,
it's
highly
possible
that
some
of
these
are
gonna,
get
nicked
hit
its
eliminated.
So
if
you
have
additional
on
hand,
it
would
actually
be
very
valuable
s.
So
after
the
winter
we
can
actually
make
sure
that
we've
repaired.
This
particular.

Of
this
that
we
want
to
think
about,
as
that's
common
across
signs
are
things
we
can
steal
from
them
again,
not
to
sort
of
produce
neighbourhood,
specific
Brandon,
but
to
actually
create
some
sort
of
accountability
across
the
entire
city
and
the
same
thing.
Obviously,
these
do
look
a
lot
like
the
signs
that
have
been
the
way
the
pedestrian
wayfinding
one.
