meeting

going

a

we

city

our
thoughts
I
should

in
our

isn't
with

So
with
that,
I'd
like
to
recognize

for

I'm

hopefully
it
won't
take
too
long

Thank

about
that

I
try
to
keep
these
short
and
sweet,
but
it's
been
a
wild
year
to
say
the
least,
our
first
year
working
with
aiken,
we
literally
we
were
just
talking
about
this
jessica
and
I
were
in
the
lobby.
I
While
I
was
waiting-
and
we
were
here
on
actually
fat
tuesday,
because
I'm
from
new
orleans-
so
that's
how
we
we
look
at
the
year
right
and
flew
home
the
next
day,
and
that
was
the
day
they
announced
in
new
orleans
that
they
were
shutting
the
city
down
to
covid
and
we
literally
worked
and
of
all
the
client
on
boardings
I've
had
in
the
last
21
years.
I
will
say
this
has
been
one
of
the
most
challenging
ones,
because
we've
spent
the
majority
of
the
year.
I
I
I'm
happy
to
answer
any
questions.
So
do
feel
free

The
first
thing
that
I
want
to.
What
do
I
need
to
point
right
there.
It's
just
a
little
bit
about
the
scope
of
work
and
what
I
did
here
was
I
wanted
to
show
you
the
difference
in
the
comprehensive
approach
that
we're
taking
compared
to
your
previous
firm.
I
So
we
are
approaching
this
in
a
much
more
comprehensive
manner
than
what
was
being
done
previously,
and
I
think
that
you'll
see
here
in
a
minute
that
has
helped
you
really
well
throughout
covid
and
and
kept
you
within
the
threshold
that
we
wanted
to
keep
you
as
far
as
occupancy
and
some
things
like
that.
Knowing
that
the
the
literally
the
world
felt
like
it
was
stopping
in
the
fall,
we
did
do
a
quick
campaign
for
drive
markets,
because
obviously
we
knew
people
weren't
really
flying
for
vacation.
I
So
we
focused
that
and
we
shifted
early
on
in
our
preliminary
research.
We
realized
that
atlanta
wasn't
getting
the
attention
that
it
deserved
and
when
you
looked
at
any
of
the
analytics
from
previous
campaigns,
we
weren't
seeing
web
search
traffic
from
atlanta,
we
weren't,
seeing
that
we
were
seeing
it
a
little
bit
from
that
area,
a
little
bit
from
charleston
a
little
bit
from
north
carolina
a
little
bit
from
columbia,
but
there
wasn't
just
a
concentration
that
we
had
hoped
to
see.
So
this
campaign,
what
we
called
our
drive
campaign,
this
fall
was
focused.
I
I
You'll
see
here,
the
the
post
impression
travel
summary
of
this
campaign.
We
know
for
a
fact
that
218
people
were
able
to
travel
to
aitkin.
As
a
result
of
that
campaign,
they
spent
about
four
hundred
and
seventy
one
dollars
per
person.
So
the
total
investment
in
this
campaign
was
fifteen
thousand
dollars
and
the
return
on
that
was
six
dollars
and
85
cents
to
every
dollar
invested.
I
So
we
were
able
to
show
a
positive
growth
and
a
return
on
that
and
we
weren't
shooting
for
hotel
rooms,
but
we
did
get
98
hotel
rooms
confirmed
out
of
that
90-day
campaign,
so
about
a
hotel
room
a
day
which,
during
the
middle
of
a
pandemic,
is
we're.
Okay
with
and
we'll
talk
a
little
bit
more
we're
going
to
get
into
more
detail
on
the
analytics
and
where
we're
at
what
the
goals
were
and
what
we
hit,
and
one
thing
that
I
know
we
missed.
I
I
just
wanted
to
point
that
out,
because
that
was
one
of
the
things
we
did
specifically
to
target
drive
markets,
the
other
thing,
since
it
we
had
time.
You
know
we
had
lots
of
time
to
look
at
things.
Is
we
decided
to
do
a
brand
narrative
refresh
and
really
talk
differently
about
the
the
community
of
aiken
to
visitors
and
and
hit
on
the
highlights?
I
And
so
we
always
do
this,
because
it's
very
difficult
when
we
begin
working
with
the
client
so
many
times
the
brands
are
developed
locally
or
by
firms
that
are
you
know
from
that
area.
So
when
we
come
in
and
see
it
from
a
third
parties
perspective
an
outsider's
perspective,
we
begin
to
see
narratives
that
maybe
weren't
getting
the
love
and
attention
that
they
needed
to
or
could
motivate
visitors
to
book
hotel
rooms.
So
what
we
did
was
we
didn't
want
to
redo
the
logo.
We
didn't
want
to
redo
the
whole
brand
because
it
was
strong.
I
What
we
focused
on
here
was
what
I
want
to
say
is
the
orange
circle,
the
the
emotions,
the
stories,
the
behavior,
the
the
the
personality
of
the
brand,
the
identity
there's
so
many
visitor
map.
What
am
I
trying
to
say,
distribution
points
and
things
that
are
branded?
We
didn't
need
to
change
the
you
know.
I
Even
the
logo,
which
is
the
red
which
is
the
smallest
part
of
a
brand,
a
lot
of
people,
think
everything
centers
on
on
a
logo
or
on
an
image
or
on
a
tagline
and
our
taglines
for
for
our
campaigns,
tend
to
be
the
brand
narrative
at
its
most
simplest
form
and
how
we
arrive
at.
That
is,
if,
if
you're
into
academic
research,
which
our
in-house
research
firm
has
led
by
a
phd,
so
he
triangulates
everything
just
as
if
he
was
writing
a
paper
peer-reviewed
article
for
college.
I
I
What
we
realize
is
there
is
a
competitive
spirit
in
aitkin,
whether
it's
business
I
mean,
if
you
go
all
the
way
back
to
the
winter
colony
days,
it
was
a
competition
to
see
who
had
the
nicest
newest
grandest
winter
college,
cottage
right
from
the
horses
to
the
to
the
youth
sports
that
you
and
the
tournaments
that
you
recruit.
Everything
in
aitkin
has
this
sense
of
healthy
competition,
and
it's
an
amazing
sense,
and
we
wanted
to
share
that,
whether
it's
arts
and
culture,
no
matter
what
it
is.
I
It
falls
into
this
because
when
you
look
at
communities
in
rural
parts
of
of
the
country
that
are
similar
size
to
aiken
you're,
going
to
realize
that
you
guys
are
much
more
competitive
in
things
like
art,
whether
it's
art
shows
or
competitions
or
theater
and
music.
So
we
really
had
to
find
a
way
to
pull
all
this
together.
I
Just
to
give
you
a
few
brief
things
of
what
this
looks
like,
and
this
is
this
one
raised
a
lot
of
eyes
when
we
sent
it
out
first
because
they're
like
wait
a
minute
this
headless,
horseman,
absolutely,
and-
and
we
like
that,
because
what
we're
doing
here
is
we
wanted
to
crop
the
photos
in
a
way
that
provided
a
portal.
We
wanted
people
to
see
an
experience
but
be
able
to
imagine
themselves
there.
I
Having
that
experience,
we
didn't
want
them
to
see
somebody
else
having
that
and
it's
something
that
we
haven't,
you
know
it
leaves
it
leaves
room
to
discover.
We
also
wanted
to
talk
about
the
the
beauty
and
the
southern
charm,
and
this
is
a
digital
ad
that
just
shows
that
and
then
we
realized
through
the
process,
as
we
were
kind
of
shopping
this
through.
We
couldn't
do
formal
focus
groups,
obviously
because
of
covid,
so
we
did
do
some
some
digital
testing
and
we
realized
that
everybody
kept
saying.
I
You
know
what
there's
something
about
this
saying:
I'm
aching
for
aiken
and
I'm
like
I,
I
I
didn't
like
it
right.
I
thought
it
was
a
little
corny,
but
what
we
did
realize
was
people
were
and
there's
so
many
different
brand
narratives,
so
whether
you're
aiken
for
horse
riding
aiken
for
adventure
aiken
for
beauty,
experiences,
thrills
relaxation,
southern
charm,
whatever
it
is
you're
going
to
find
that
here
in
the
sporting
south.
So
I
just
want
to
give
you
guys
an
update
of
that.
I
What
I'm
going
to
jump
into
now
is
when
we
first
contracted
with
the
city
we
put
together
a
12-month
plan
and
that
12-month
plan
was
to
run
with
the
fiscal
year,
but
obviously
there's
been
15
months,
where
there
will
be
from
the
day
we
were
hired.
So
we
what
I'm
going
to
hit
on
today
is
where
we're
at.
As
of
when
I
pulled
these
numbers
last
week,
so
technically,
the
annual
report
should
come
to
you
in
june,
but
we're
a
year
into
it.
We've
been
through
a
pandemic.
I
I
wanted
to
give
you
guys
some
numbers
now
I'll
send
over
some
numbers
again
in
june
to
show
you
there's
only
one
goal
in
the
plan
that
we
provided
and
presented
to
you
back.
I
believe
it's
probably
I'm
going
to
have
to
guess
march
april
of
last
year
that
we
haven't
accomplished
yet
and
that's
your
overall
occupancy,
and
so
what
you're
going
to
see
here
are
some
very
favorable
numbers,
and
I
don't
want
you
to
think
I'm
trying
to
sugarcoat
anything
because,
let's
be
real
occupancy
is
down.
I
So
our
goal
was
to
keep
aiken
within
10
percent
of
2019's
occupancy.
As
of
last
week,
we
pulled
the
10-year
historic
occupancy
report.
As
of
last
week,
you're
23
percent
off,
but
since
january,
you've
been
coming
back
very,
very
strong
in
90
days,
you're
likely
going
to
be
back
within
that
10
percent
range
of
where
you
were.
We
hope
in
2019,
and
I'm
going
to
show
you
here
in
just
a
minute
over
since
2016
a
little
chart
where
we're
at.
I
I
You
are
one
of
only
two
clients
we
have
in
the
entire
country
that
outpace
the
national
average
and
that's
a
really
amazing
place
to
be
in
at
this
juncture
of
the
pandemic
and
but
even
more
important
is
that
average
daily
rate,
because,
obviously
you
don't
want
to
be
giving
the
hotel
rooms
a
way
to
make
your
occupancy
look
good
right.
So
your
average
daily
rate
unfortunately
did
fall.
I
16.8
percent
in
2020
the
states
fell
16.5,
so
you
guys
are
pretty
much
in
alignment
with
where,
where
the
region
and
where
the
state
is
so,
I'm
not
concerned
about
that.
I
did
have
a
look
at
augusta's
numbers
yesterday.
You
guys
are
tracking
higher
than
augusta,
but
since
that's
not
technically
in
south
carolina.
Obviously
we
don't
include
that,
but
I
did
check
that
as
far
as
hotel
revenue
in
2020,
your
hotel
revenues
were
down
33.9,
it's
just
say:
34.
I
The
dropped
statewide
was
38
49
across
the
country,
so
you
guys
are
trending
better
than
the
national
average
as
far
as
revenue
of
your
hotel.
So
we're
pretty
excited
about
that
because,
like
I
said,
a
lot
of
a
lot
of
people
that
are
having
high
occupancy
they're
having
it
because
they
drop
the
rates
so
low
that
at
that
point,
it's
you
know
what
what's
that
accomplishing
other
than
having
high
occupancy,
which
doesn't
really
translate
into
much
hospitality
tax.

I
know
you
guys
monitor
this
august
november
and
january,
which
were
three
of
the
months
that
that
campaign
that
I
showed
you
while
ago,
the
coveted
driving
campaign
was
running.
It
kicked
off
in
august
and
it
ran
all
the
way
through
into
december.
The
billboards
came
down
december
january
three
of
those
months.
You
guys
had
record
setting
hospitality
tax
numbers
now
when
I
say
record
setting,
I
don't
mean
just
in
the
last
18
months
or
something
let's
look
at
this
here
since
2016.
I
Just
since,
just
since
november,
you
go,
I
mean
august,
I'm
sorry,
you
guys
have
had
three
record-setting
months
and
and
all
the
numbers
we
have
go
back
to
2016.
you'll
see
the
three
circles
there.
Those
indicate
where
you
had
the
record
tax
collections.
The
box
is
showing
you
where
we're
at
right
now,
the
this
kind
of
quarter.
I
If
you
will
q1
you'll,
see
and-
and
I
don't
know-
I
probably
won't-
walk
over
there
and
point,
but
you
know
what
what
I
want
you
to
see
on
this
is
your
occupancy
is
going
down
as
of
the
january
spike.
It
has
started
dropping,
but
it
drops
every
year
in
february
it
starts
tracking
back
up
in
march.
We
do
not
have
march's
numbers
yet
at
least
I
didn't
as
of
when
this
was
created,
so
I
will
be
able
to
review
those
this
this
week.

So
that's
good
news
for
hospitality,
tax
pr
coverage,
this
one
kind
of
blew
our
minds
at
a
time
when
people
were
not
writing
destination
features,
travel
and
leisure
decided
to
cover
south
carolina
included
aitkin.
I
believe
we've
had
coverage
in
readers
digest,
there's
been
some
other
bigger
ones.
Our
goal
was
to
get
a
hundred
thousand
dollars
worth
of
coverage.
For
you
guys,
we
hit
133
000
your
pr
budget,
because
we
were
so
comprehensive
within
that
that
larger
scope
of
work
was
very,
very,
very,
very,
very
small.
I
We
have
only
invested
about
ten
thousand
dollars
in
public
relations
over
the
course
of
the
year,
normally
for
a
destination
this
size
to
get
this
level
of
return
on
investment.
We're
normally
looking
at
about
the
fifty
to
seventy
thousand
dollar
range,
for
whatever
reason,
aiken
is
very,
very
hot,
with
travel
media
and
we're
riding
that
as
long
as
we
can.
In
fact,
a
journalist
from
the
the
christian
monitor
the
epoch
times
will
be
in
town
in
the
next
week
or
two
he's,
probably
he
well,
he
does
it.
Probably.
I
He
does
have
the
largest
audience
of
a
global
audience
of
any
journalist
that
we
work
with
and
he's
very,
very
interested
in
aiken
and
everything
that
there
is
to
do
here.
We
also
have
a
journalist
coming
from
the
philadelphia
sun,
renee
gordon,
who
wants
to
cover
the
center
for
american
african-american
history,
art
and
culture.
I
She
wants
to
cover
the
exhibit
that's
at
the
top
of
the
stairs
at
the
racing,
the
thoroughbred
hall
of
fame,
which
talks
about
the
impact
that
the
black
community
has
had
on
horse
racing
from
this
origins
and
aiken
through
to
today,
and
so
she's
very
excited
about
that.
We
have
about
five
other
ones
lined
up
who
are
going
to
be
coming
in
the
next
six
months.
So
there'll
be
a
lot
of
travel
journalists
in
and
out
eating
shopping,
doing
different
things
we
have
some
coming.

This
fall
for
the
polo
experience
which
we'll
talk
a
little
bit
here
in
a
moment
about
and
then
just
a
few
more
things,
google,
my
business
just
keeps
going
up.
This
is
working.
The
team
has
been
keeping
it
very
updated
through
kovitz,
so
numbers
are
going
up.
We
worked,
we
did
a
social
media.
Audit
of
your
pretty
comprehensive
is
probably
150,
160
page
report
on
on
your
social
media
channels
for
tourism.
What
are
those
next
steps
that
could
make
it
better?

Instagram
you'll
already
see
your
engagements
up

percent
this
year,
which
is
great
the
on
facebook
up

the
ones
that
you
were
utilizing
the
social
media
channels,
the
one
that
had
the
strongest
use
already
in
engagement.
So
it
doesn't
surprise
me
that
was
a
little
bit.
Lower
youtube
is
going
up
we're
up

percent
of
the
time
watched
over
last
year
over
20,
not
last
year
when
I
say
it
we're
talking
2019
compared
to
2020.,
and
then
this
one
is
really
interesting
to
me.
The
downtown
visitation.

This
goes
back
to
may
20
of
2016..
If
you
look
at
september
16,
I
don't
know
there
must
have
been
an
event
or
something
there.
You'll
see
is
the
all-time
record
about
may
of

It
dropped
off
and
it
stayed
down
until
january
of
2020.,
the

green

that
you

That's
the
time
span
that
we
ran
the
campaign,
the
billboard
and
digital
campaign
for
the
drive
market,
so
that
would
have
been
your
august
into

Early
february
and
you'll
see
right
now,
the
just
up
until
february
the
amount
of
traffic
that
you
guys
are
having
in
your
downtown
area,
and
this
is
pulled
from
mobile
device,
check-ins
and
data.
So
it's
done
through
gps
location.
When
we
do
this,
it's
the
same
technology
that
we
use
for
billboard
attribution
if
we
want
to
say
okay,
300
000
people
drove
by
your
billboard
thousand
of
them
ended
up
in
downtown
aitkin.
What
we
did
we
just
pulled,
who
was
in
downtown
naked
and
how
many
so
this
will.

All
cylinders
is
actually
working
between
the
work
that
tourism
is
doing
and
downtown
adda
is
doing,
and
everybody
else
is
helping
promote
commerce
and
business
in
in
aitkin
it's
working
and
then,
as
you
probably
already
know,
if
you
haven't
already
seen,
veri
vera
show
just
did
a
30
minute
episode
on
aiken,
and
so
when
I
talked
about
the
polo
experience,
that's
exactly
what
we're
doing
this
fall.
We're
going
to
be
having
the
show
is
on
an
elevated
tailgating
fee.
I
So
if
you
want
to
do
something
more
than
what
you
might
do
at
a
say,
a
college
football
game-
it's
polo's,
approachable
here,
it's
it's
affordable!
You
can
come
do
that.
We
will
be
offering,
through
the
local
pallet
that
media
outlet
is
partnering
with
us
to
offer
a
incentive.
This
fall,
and
so
one
lucky
subscriber
from
their
magazine
will
get
to
come
to
aiken
and
have
an
elevated
tailgating
experience
during
one
of
the
finals
matches.

is
also
doing
a
trip
giveaway
right
now
that
will
that
will
happen
at
that
same
event,
and
so
we'll
have
a
group
of
people
here
to
celebrate.
Hopefully
everything
being
very
normal.
This
fall
at
an
aiken
polo
match
and
the
one
thing
that
I
didn't
mention
is
in
october
small
market
meetings.
I
We
partnered
with
that
media
outlet
and
we'll
be
bringing
in
five
to
ten
meeting
and
event
and
incentive
trip
planners
who
will
be
spending
time
getting
to
know
all
your
hotels
facilities
and
looking
at
what
groups
they
work
with,
that
they
could
book
and
bring
back
to
aitkin,
and
so
the
work
continues.
I'm
happy

progress
updates.
We
did
one
in
november
and
we
did
another
one
where
we
discussed

couple

specific
issues

this

our
next

was
just
going
to
give
you
a
status
of
the
the
building.

already
knew
that
that
work
was
going
on
inside
because
we
had
talked
about
it
before
as
far
as
demolition
in
the
existing
building,
so
that
continues
that
demolition
is
complete.
We've
completed
the
demolition
on
the
outside
bill
and
we're
going
up
with
the
steel
on
the
new
edition
and
most
of
that
steel
work
is
now
complete,
we're
putting
in
the
metal
deck
for
the
third
floor.

that's
going
well,
we
got
through
our
hiccups
and
our
foundations
because
we
found
a
whole
bunch
of
stuff
in
the
dirt
over
there,
but
we've
solved
all
those
problems
that
came
up
and
then
inside
in
the
existing
building,
we're
going
up
with
some
metal
studs
and
the
mechanical
and
plumbing
and
the
electrical.
So
that
part
seems
to
be
going
pretty
well,
I
want
to
give
you
a
quick
update
on
the
ff
e,
the
furniture,
fixtures
and
equipment
we
talked
about
this
before
our
design
package
is
now
complete
and
cheatham.

helped
us
with
that,
and
they've
done
a
great
job
with
that.
We've
also
brought
some
interior
renderings
to
get
a
little
a
little
taste
of
how
those
colors
and
picks
have
turned
out.

we'll
have
three

share
with
you
and
so
they're,
really
pretty
cool.
Looking

nice
to
see
when
the
building
and
the
furniture
and
all
the
colors
come

sense

really
unchanged.

we

some
hiccups
on
the
foundations
we're
still
targeting
early
summer
of
2022.,

happened.

impacts
for
the
foundations,

risk

factored
in,
so
our
completion
date
is
still
on
track,
so
that
part
is
good.

one
thing

with

this
balcony
update.

in
december
22nd
we
talked
about
the
balcony
and
we
essentially
got
guidance
from
council
to
with
the
290
thousand
dollar
scope
of
work.
We
were
moving
forward
with
the
design,
so
basically,
the
general
contractor
gave
us
some
parameters
on
what
they
thought,
that
scope
would
cost
prior
to
us
spending
the
money
on
the
full
design.
So
we've
got
council's
direction
and
we've
moved
forward
on
that
full
design
on
this
balcony
and
but
since
then,
and
the
engineer
and
the
architect's
been
steady
working
on
that.

right
now,
where
we're
at
with
that.
So
this
is
basically
an
update.
So
our
plan
was
still
finish.
The
design
then
go
and
get
the
pricing
back
from
the
general
contractor,
but
they're
thinking
that
it's
a
complete
redesign
all

way
down
to
the
footings,
and
this
is
what
they've
coming
back
as
they've
studied
the
structure
some
more.

have
open
ceiling

anything

hoping
that

approach

open

then
up
above

historic
buildings.

dark
paint,
a
light
paint
we're
thinking
like
a
gray

something

where
it

kind

blends

but
gives
us

little
bit
of

biggest
challenge

this
historic,
but
it's
also
one
of
the
neat
things
about
the
character
of
it.

mean
we'll

to
see
some

it
was
constructed
and
that
open
ceiling

the
second
and
third
floor
and
that's
some
pretty
cool
character
too.

been
a
very
interesting
building,

because,

mark

saying
it
has
so
much
character
to
it,
so
we're
trying
to
just
preserve
as
much
of
that
as
we
can
and
showcase
it,
and
I
think
our
finishes

chose

help
with
that.
So
this
is
a
rendering
of
the
first
floor
lobby,
so
you
can
see
that
they
preserved
the
original
dental
molding
that
was
in
the
ceiling
and
the
coffers
and
the
column
wraps.
So
we
tried
to
work
with
that
and
with
the
way
that
the
architects
laid
it
out.

then
we
have
the
accent
wall
in
the
back,
which
will
serve
as
a
logo
wall,
and
then
we
have
utilities
all
the
teller
station
back
there
that's
going
to
be
backed
with
an
accent
wall
that
you'll
be
able
to
see
behind
behind
the
glass,
so
that
kind
of
gives
the
space
a
little
bit
of
depth
as
well
as
with
planning
and
zoning.
So
we
have
clear
way:
finding
and
labeling
through
the
space
for
all
the
different
counters.

coming

you
don't
know
where
you're
going
you'll
very
easily
be
able
to
identify
where
you
need

The
flooring
is
lvt
and
we
do
have
all
the
finishes

they're
labeled

is
a
vinyl
flooring.
That's
incredibly
durable
and
we
use
it

can
use
it
in
airports.

we
can
get
any
kind
of
digital
print
onto
it

they're
so
good
with
their
printing
techniques,

we're
trying
to
go
for
that.

keep
that
durability
that
we
need
in
this
area.
