Welcome
to
Bloomington
today
I'm
Laurie
Schulte
thanks
for
joining
us.
First,
we
bring
you
the
buzz
for
the
week
of
September
16th
through
the
22nd.
Almost
200
people
are
now
US
citizens.
After
a
naturalization
ceremony
at
Civic
Plaza,
it
was
sponsored
by
the
Human
Rights
Commission,
in
partnership
with
the
US
District
Court
District
Court
of
Minnesota
and
US
Citizenship
and
Immigration
Services
Schneider
theater
was
packed
for
the
event
with
people
from
all
over
Hennepin
County
and
the
surrounding
area.
Attending
and
fifty
nine
different
countries
were
represented.

This
is
the
second
year
at
the
bloomington
Human
Rights
Commission
hosted
the
ceremony
and
celebration
of
the
National
Day
of
Peace
on
September
21st,
also
in
recognition
of
peace,
Minnesotans
shared
their
stories
on
the
topic
for
a
new
exhibit
at
Civic
Plaza.
It's
called
a
piece
of
my
mind
and
runs
through
October
fourth
Bloomington
resident
John
Milner
created
the
multimedia
art
project.
It
features
52
portraits
accompanied
by
personal
stories,
about
what
peace
means
to
different
people.
Several
Bloomington
residents
are
included
in
the
display.
B
If
you
want
to
learn
more
about
the
creator
of
this,
exhibit
you
can
come
by
civic
plaza
on
September
22nd
at
six.
Thirty
at
night,
nallur
will
share
stories
and
lessons
learned
while
conducting
interviews
on
peace
around
the
country.
While
the
city
and
residents
brainstorm
ideas
for
a
possible
new
community
center,
the
current
one
is
getting
repaired.
B
Creekside
is
getting
a
partial
new
roof
and
work
started
at
the
end
of
August.
There
was
water
leaking
into
the
building,
and
this
repair
will
fix
that
the
roof
replacement
includes
three
large
group
sections.
No
activities
have
been
canceled
because
of
the
work,
but
repairs
have
been
pretty
noisy
at
times.
The
work
costs
150
thousand
dollars
plus
22,500
for
contingency.
The
contractor
has
until
October
15th
to
complete
the
project,
but
it
should
get
done
before
that
and
while
a
bad
roof
can
cause
water
damage,
so
can
a
leaky
basement.
B
The
housing
and
redevelopment
authority
held
a
seminar
to
help
people
solve
their
basement
waterproofing
issues.
This
final
seminar
of
the
summer
hosted
Anthony
Reich
of
Triple,
A,
Reich's,
landscape
and
waterproofing.
He
talked
about
grading
gutter,
water
control,
window
wells,
waterproof
membranes
and
landscaping
that
can
keep
your
basement
dry.
Here's
what
he
had
to
say
about
rock
vs
mulch
over
Paulie
rock.
D
Is
like
a
glass
of
ice
cubes
if
you
get
a
glass
of
ice
cubes
and
you
go
over
to
the
faucet
and
turn
the
water
on
the
water
filters
quickly
to
the
bottom
of
the
glass
until
it
gets
to
the
top,
but
it
doesn't
splash
over
the
top.
So
rock
itself
doesn't
help
the
water
stay
out
of
your
basement,
but
it
helps
the
drainage
under
the
rock
for
the
water
to
flow
quickly
through
and
away
from
your
foundation
with
the
mulch.
D
B
The
final
seminar
of
the
summer,
but
the
2016
home
improvement,
fair,
will
take
place
in
February,
so
make
sure
to
check
that
out.
That
is
the
buzz
on
Bloomington
today
for
the
week
of
September
16th
through
the
22nd.
If
you
would
like
to
watch
other
stories
from
the
show
go
to
this
week's
playlist,
there
you'll
find
a
piece
explaining
the
new
mural
in
the
south
loop
that
merges
science
and
nature.
There's
also
a
story
on
the
poetry
classes
offered
at
Creekside
communities
check
them
out
and
thanks
for
watching.
