fifth
through
the
11th
construction
continues
around
bloomington
and
if
you
travel
along
98
street
or
penn
avenue,
you
may
be
rerouted
due
to
a
closure
that
intersection
will
be
closed
for
most
of
august
cars
that
travel
through
the
98th
and
Penn
intersection
will
have
to
take
a
detour
on
West,
90th,
Street,
france,
avenue
and
west
old
shakopee
road.
The
intersection
is
closing
for
the
centerpoint
energy
Beltline
project.

The
company
is
replacing
and
rehabilitating
80
miles
of
steel.
Pipe
that
supplies
natural
gas
to
residents
in
the
metro
area.

again
for

on
August

but
there

work

The
candidates
running
for
the
City
Council
seat
are
Andrew,
Carlson,
Tom,
whole
ting
and
Susan
Hofmeister
Woodruff
district
2
covers
a
majority
of
West
Bloomington.
The
primary
election
is
on
August
eleventh,
and
the
top
two
candidates
will
move
on
to
the
general
election
on
November.

and

voting.

can

the

traveling
out

there's
a
new
way
to
get
your
passport
at
City
Hall,
you
can
sign
up
for
an
appointment
online.
This
is
video
of
what
the
page
looks

this
online
scheduling
program
will
eliminate
long
lines
manage
volume
and
make
the
process
more
efficient
starting
august.
First
residents
must
have
an
appointment
to
get
a
passport.
The
service
has
seen
huge
growth
since
2013
when
Hennepin
County
stopped
offering
passport
services.
For
example,
back
in
2011
about
920
passports
were
processed.

Last
year,
the
city
Clark's
office
saw
almost
3,000
people
come
through
for
passports.
The
new
online
appointment
program
and
front
counter
redesign
will
improve
customer
service
to
get
to
the
passport
page.
There's
a

the

of
the
city's
website,
community
members
and
leaders
gathered
to
celebrate
the
25th
anniversary
of
the
Americans
with
Disabilities
Act
last
month.
The
event
was
held
inside

theater.

panel
discussion,
the
event
wrapped
up
with
a
video
memorializing
longtime
advocate
Bob
Peters,
who
recently
passed
away.
His
wife
was
honored
with
a
plaque
and
history,
brick
for
outside
the
Bloomington
Historical
Society.

accepted
for
the
2015
amar
bondhu
Road
award,
it's
presented
by
the
Bloomington
Human
Rights
Commission
and
is
awarded
to
a
person
or
organization
that
has
made
a
big
contribution
to
ensure
human
rights.
These
are
pictures
of
last
year's
awards
that
went
to
Frank
white
and
cornerstone
advocacy
service
white
is
known
for
advocating
for
people
of
color
and
bringing
attention
to
slavery
in
Minnesota.
Cornerstone
was
recognized
for
its
programs
that
help
victims
of
human
trafficking.
If
you

to
make

nomination
for
this

award,
the
deadline
is
August
twenty-eighth.

award
will
be
given
out

December.
Another
blood
drive
is
coming
to
City
Hall
city
employees
and
community
members
are
welcome
in
just
one
hour.
You
can
give
enough
blood
to
save
three
lives.
Earlier.
This
summer,
36
pints
of
blood
were
collected
at
Civic
Plaza,
which
could
save
108
lives.

give

register

A
Hennepin
County
fix-it
clinic
is
coming
to
Bloomington.
The
free
event
will
help
folks
repair
their
old
broken
items
with
guided
assistance,
basic
repair
skills
and
troubleshooting
techniques
will
be
taught.
It
will
be
held
sunday
august
9th
from
noon
to
four
at
arcs
value
village
in
Bloomington.
That's
at
France,
an
old
shakopee
road.

Next
to
Cub
Foods,
no
oversized
items
are
allowed,
people
must
carry
them
in
examples
of
things
that
have
been
repaired
at
other
events
include
toasters,
blenders,
DVD
players,
flashlights
and
fans.

you
consider

handy,

can
volunteer
to
help
with
fix-it
clinics
around
the
Metro.
