A town hall forum focused on this year’s State of the City address will be Tuesday, April 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Schneider Theater. More info at: blm.mn/townhall

This holiday season join blue-ribbon baker Marjorie Johnson and Bloomington City Manager Jamie Verbrugge for cookies and conversation. Marjorie will share her love of baking while demonstrating how to make one of her favorite recipes

In October, the City Council hosted town hall forums to discuss topics of interest to the community. Council has a strategic plan that includes maintaining high-quality services and community amenities.

To ensure the City continues to meet resident expectations, staff has been working with Council to plan for the replacement of fire stations, park buildings, playgrounds and aging City buildings as well as improvements at the Bloomington Ice Garden, Dwan and Hyland Golf Courses and the Bloomington Family Aquatic Center. Planning for a new community center to replace Creekside is also underway. This meeting was held October 30, 2018, at Bloomington Civic Plaza.

Judith Meisel is a holocaust survivor and a witness in an investigation into two Nazi guards. Her documentary will be shown at Civic Plaza on March 14. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion about the investigation.

A community event program hosted by Northwestern Health Sciences University and the City of Bloomington. The program opens with a video of interviews and stories from local Vietnam veterans and family. As you watch the video, think about how the Vietnam experience may compare, or differ, from current events and veteran experiences.

A panel discussion follows with Vietnam veterans and veterans recently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan as they discuss their experiences and respond to audience questions.

The City of Bloomington and Northwestern Health Sciences University honor Veterans by sharing their stories.

A documentary featuring local people will play at a Veterans appreciation event on November 9 at Northwestern.

A Vietnam veteran’s picnic is coming up July 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Moir Park. It’s part of a commemorative partnership between the City and other organizations.

Public Works Open House and Kite Day on May 20 both offer a day full of family fun. The open house is from 9 a.m. to noon and Kite Day is from noon – 3 p.m.

Healthy Families America gives parents the tools they need for healthy child development. Bloomington public health nurses share their strategies for reaching out to clients.

Urban Land Institute Minnesota hosted a workshop to help City officials plan for future development in a changing community.
