A
Hi
I'm
Evan
city
manager,
Wally,
Bob
Boyd,
so
welcome
to
this
edition
of
Evanston
spotlight,
where
we
talk
about
items
on
the
upcoming
City
Council
meeting
agenda
here
in
the
city
of
Evanston
and
coming
up
at
our
next
meeting
on
Monday
April
22nd,
we'll
be
celebrating
drinking
water
week
and
with
me
today
is
Darrell
King,
our
water
production
bureau,
chief
from
our
Public
Works
Agency
Darrell,
welcome.
Thank
you.
A
B
We've
been
producing
water
since
1874
been
doing
it
quite
a
while,
and
our
process
is
known
as
conventional
multistage.
We,
our
source
water,
is
Lake
Michigan,
of
course,
and
we
filter
the
water.
It
goes
through
our
treatment
process
and
once
it's
been
treated,
it's
pumped
out
to
the
city
of
Evanston,
as
well
as
our
wholesale
customer
base,
which
is
comprised
of
the
Northwest
Water
Commission
Morgan
Grove
Niles,
Water
Commission,
as
well
as
the
village
of
Skokie
and
later
this
year.
The
village
of
linking
wood
will
also
come
on
board.
So.
A
B
We
have
three
three
main
intakes
that
go
out
into
Lake
Michigan,
that's
how
the
water
gets
from
the
lake
into
the
treatment
plant
and
then
we
just
have
a
network
of
transmission
mains.
Once
the
waters
been
treated
that
delivers
the
water
to
the
various
locations
throughout
Evanston,
as
well
as
to
our
wholesale
customers.
So.
A
You
talk
about
wholesale
customers.
The
Northwest
Water
Commission
memory
serves
correct,
is
as
Palatine
Wheeling,
Arlington,
Heights
and
Buffalo
Grove
so
about
you,
think
about
Wheeling
and
Buffalo
Grove.
That's
a
pretty
far
away
as
a
way.
How
do
they
get?
How
do
we
get
the
water
to
them
all
that
far
west?
So.
B
There's
a
60
inch
transmission
main
that
the
Northwest
Water
Commission
actually
owns
and
that
pipe
is
located
at
the
water
plant
and
it
extends
out
throughout
the
distribution
system,
to
the
location
and
DesPlaines
where
the
Northwest
water,
Commission's
treatment
facility
or
their
facility
is
located.
So.
A
Drinking
water
week,
I
know
we're
celebrating
their
Haggerty
is
having
a
contest
for
four
posters,
so
we'll
be
awarding
the
winners
of
that
during
our
administration
of
Public
Works
Committee
meeting
on
Monday
night,
one
sentence
about
the
safety
of
our
drinking
water.
How
safe
is
Evanston
drinking
water,
Elvis's.
