A
Hi
I'm
Evan
city
manager,
lollipop
courts
and
welcome
to
this
edition
of
Evans
in
the
spotlight
where
we
talk
about
items
before
the
Evanston
City
Council
and
at
its
next
meeting
on
Monday
September
16th,
we're
talking
about
recreational
cannabis
and
with
me
is
Corporation
Counsel,
Michelle,
Mason
cup
Michelle.
So
there's
lots
of
issues
the
city
has
to
consider
regarding
a
recreational
cannabis
you're
going
to
be
presenting
to
the
council
Monday
night.
What
are
some
of
the
issues
you're
gonna
be
talking
about
so.
B
On
Monday
night
we
will
be
considering
the
first
issue
that
the
council
has
to
evaluate
is
whether
or
not
they
want
to
permit
the
sale
of
recreational
cannabis
in
the
community.
Many
other
communities
in
the
surrounding
area
are
recently
taking
up
this
issue
in
the
city
of
Evanston
has
to
do
that
as
well.
So
the
first
port
of
call
is:
do
they
want
to
permit
these
businesses?
And
if
the
answer
to
that
question
is
yes,
then
the
city
has
to
consider
what
zoning
regulations
are.

B
Well,
there's
a
lot
of
issues
that
come
out
of
permitting
recreational
cannabis
and
one
them
as
personnel
issues.
Right
now
we
are
gathering
information
on
the
ramifications
of
allowing
recreational
cannabis
and
we
are
going
to
recommend
to
the
City
Council
that
they
take
a
an
additional
analysis
in
this
issue.
Think
about
whether
or
not
they
want
to
do
testing
for
impairment.
What
types
of
employees
should
this
be
applicable
to,
such
as
some
of
our
employees
have
CDL
licenses,
police
and
fire
employees
so
probably
starting
January
1.
B
A
A
lot
of
issues
the
city
is
gonna
have
to
deal
with.
Them
will
start
talking
about
them
at
the
Monday
September
16th
council
meeting
correct.
So
if
you'd
like
more
information
about
this
or
anything
else,
that's
on
the
city
council
agenda.
You
can
go
to
our
city's
website.
