Although
a
disaster
was
declared
for
north
minneapolis,
the
federal
emergency
management
agency
denied
individual
assistance
to
affected
homeowners,
renters
and
businesses.
This
comes
as
mayor
ryback
and
city
council
president
barbara
johnson
met
with
top
federal
officials
at
the
white
house
to
discuss
resources
available
for
folks
in
north
minneapolis.

The
cleanup
continues
in
north
minneapolis
neighborhoods
this
past
weekend's
clean
sweep
helped
get
more
storm
debris
out
of
the
area.
More
than
150
volunteers,
along
with
neighborhood
organizations
and
city
crews,
removed
more
than
300
000
pounds
of
construction
debris
and
solid
waste.
A
second
clean
sweep
is
scheduled
for
this
saturday
june
25th
volunteers
can
sign
up
for
one
of
two
cleanup
ships
by
calling
612-6.
A
You
must
be
at
least
18
years
old
to
volunteer
and
willing
to
commit
to
working
a
four-hour
shift.
Volunteers
also
need
to
be
able
to
lift
at
least
40
pounds.
Anyone
trying
to
repair
storm
damage
to
homes
and
buildings
can
still
stop
by
a
temporary
office
on
the
north
side
for
help
getting
construction
permits.

be
open
through
friday.
The
office
is
at
hamilton
school
at
4119
dupont
avenue
north
again,
it
will
be
open
from
now
until
friday,
from
8
am
to
4
30
pm
and
before
hiring
anyone
to
do
repairs
to
your
home
make
sure
they're
licensed
contractors
keep
track
of
all
the
latest
developments
on
the
tornado
recovery
by
