Description
Regular meeting of the City of Palm Springs Library Board of Trustees, held Wednesday, September 6th 2023
B
Call:
okay
welcome
back
everybody:
it's
September,
6,
2023.,
Craig
Barba,
president
Juanita
Garner,
here
Al
Jones
he's
here
he
went
to
the
car
David
norgaard
president
Deborah
Schwartz
here
at
the
present.
A
With
the
permission
of
the
trustees,
I'd
like
to
move
7A
to
be
the
next
item,
so
we
completely
vote
is
that
okay,
all
right
turning
it
over.
B
To
you,
hello,
everybody
I
appreciate
the
opportunity
to
come
before
you
to
swearing
in
and
provide
the
offices
forces
new
members.
B
We
want
to
say
we
do
appreciate
your
service
good
assigned
to
this
very
important
commission.
The
city
recognizes
that
you
do
volunteer
and
you
know
exist
without
paying
sometimes
without,
and
so
we
appreciate
her
serving
for
us
as
well.
So
if
I
could
get
Deborah
swords,
Juanita,
Escobar,
Gardner
and
Craig
to
stand
and
raise
your
right
hand,
you
know
if
he
was
wearing
it.
Schwartz.
B
Do
solemnly
swear
or
affirm
to
swallow
the
swear
or
a
firm
that
I
will
support
and
defend
and
defend
the
Constitution,
the
Constitution
of
the
United
States
and
the
United
States,
and
the
Constitution
and
the
constitutional
state
of
California,
of
the
State
of
California
against
all
enemies
against
all
enemies.
Foreign.
B
B
B
D
E
C
B
A
We'll
move
to
Roman
numeral
two
acceptance
of
the
agenda.
May
you
have
a
motion
please.
E
A
F
F
F
Let's
see
what
all
do
I
have
review
from
the
last
meeting.
That
I
was
at
where
I
tell
us
that
was
in
May,
so
some
little
updates
here
still
looking
for
employment
still
homeless,
so
still
got
that
going
for
hands
pretty
well,
let's
see
got
volunteers,
I,
don't
know
if
we've
done
anything
where
we
can
get
Volunteers
in
the
library.
Yet
it's
still
anything
on
the
no
and
all
we're
looking
for
is
just
fingerprints
right.
F
In
the
comments
so
still
looking
to
be
able
to
be
a
volunteer
at
the
library
at
some
point
after
myself,
there,
let's
see
oh
yeah,
the
the
plans
for
the
library
wanted
to
know.
You
know.
When
are
we
going
to
start
having
some
open
houses
and
start.
F
F
All
right
so
pull
up
some
reading.
Let's
see
currently
it
brought
into
a
border
in
case
there's
any
kind
of
questions
that
we
have
so
got.
This
I'll
reject
it
out,
there's
still
two
editions
of
the
11th
Edition.
For
some
reason,
one
of
those
can
go
in
the
book
sale
and
you
can
buy
another
12th
edition
or
there's
two
12
positions.
F
So
just
think
about
that
we
have
two
11s
I'm,
not
checking
one
out,
because
it's
an
old
Edition
only
one
under
12.,
all
right,
oh
I,
still
don't
think
we
donated
the
security
measures
only
Global
hot
spots,
so
that
might
be
something
we'll
look
at
as
well.
Okay,
so
book
I
came
across
this,
it
has
been
so
long
since
I
read
this
book.
F
This
book
came
out
in
2000
and
it
is
actually
going
to
be
one
of
the
book
called
books
and
it's
going
to
be
Thursday
September,
the
21st
at
2
pm
in
the
Learning
Center
is
one
of
the
discussion
is
going
to
be
I'm
super
stoked
about
this
20th
anniversary
edition
of
the
classic
bestseller
bowling
alone,
we're
gonna
collapse
and
Revival
of
American
community.
F
That's
great!
It's
great
so
updated
this
time.
It's
this
came
out
like
I
said
in
2000,
I,
remember,
reading
it
and
sometime
maybe
in
like
2006
the
2008
Range,
and
now
the
update's
got
social
media
in
here
as
well.
So
what
a
good
reading
I'd
encourage
some
of
you
guys
to
pick
this
one
out.
This
is
a
really
good
book
once
again
bowling
alone,
so
bookshelf
book,
all
right,
let's
see
last
little
bit
three
minutes.
F
B
Yeah
David
said
he's
online
I
think
he's
going
to
talk
about
the
foundation.
Okay,
okay,.
A
A
Consent
agenda
may
have
a
motion
to
accept
motion
obsessed
and
in
a
second
I'll.
Second,
thank
you.
Any
discussion
on
the
consent
agenda.
Okay,
see
none
all
in
favor.
D
B
Is
Nancy
here
no
Julie's
going
to
access
the
friends,
hello.
D
Hello,
the
friends
had
a
summer
Hiatus
but
we'll
be
resuming
their
monthly
board
meetings
starting
next
week.
They
have
an
event
coming
up
on
Saturday
October
20th.
They
are
doing
an
architecture
and
design
book
sale,
special
Board
of
the
modernism
weekend
that
will
be
on
Saturday
from
10
to
4
at
the
main
library
they
will
have
a
well-known
modernism
lecturer
and
author
Alan
Hess
appearing
from
12
to
4..
D
He
will
talk
with
people
and
also
sign
books
that
will
be
for
sale
by
best
bookstore
and
then
Christopher
Kennedy.
The
interior
designer
here
locally
has
donated
some
of
his
books
to
the
Friends
autograph
and
they
have
gotten
so
many
wonderful
donations
of
architectural
books
and
design
books.
So
it's
going
to
be
a
fabulous
sale,
so
they
have
some
really
cool
things
for
sale.
So
again,
it's
part
of
modernism
weekend.
It's
a
free
event
on
Saturday
October
20th
from
10
to
4
at
the
main
library,
come
on
down
lots
of
things.
D
G
D
A
You
or
transparency
I
need
to
make
a
comment
here.
I've
been
asked
to
be
on
their
board.
A
friend's
board.
Do
I
need
to
try
to
have
an
issue
with
that
yeah.
Thank
you.
I'll
continue
with
that
application,
the
foundation.
G
Good
evening,
there's
David
I'm
over
here,
okay,
so
the
the
foundation
we
didn't
have
a
meeting
in
August,
but
we
have
been
working
very
hard.
G
We
did
send
out
a
request
for
proposals
for
our
awareness
Campaign,
which
is
the
next
step
on
our
strategic
plan,
which
is
to
create
awareness
for
the
foundation
and
point
out
the
differences
between
the
foundation
and
the
friends,
and
that
would
be
the
precursor
to
our
well
the
feasibility
study
and
then
the
capital
campaign,
and
the
point
is
to
get
our
name
out
in
the
community.
So
people
that
know
people
know
who
we
are.
We
got
four
really
good
proposals.
Our
deadline
to
you
know
the
community
was
September
1st.
G
We
did
get
four
of
them,
we're
going
to
review
them
at
our
next
meeting
and
that
will
kind
of
be
the
next
step
on
our
strategic
plan,
then
coming
up
in
October,
October,
13th
and
14th
is
our
second
Annual
Pride
on
the
page,
Book
Festival,
our
our
celebrity
author
is
going
to
be
Armistead.
Wait,
Julie!
Is
this
public?
Yes,.
G
G
A
David
for
the
marketing
issue
that
you're
going
to
be
addressing
and
you've
had
applicants.
Is
there
a
dollar
amount
you're
looking
at
there.
G
F
David,
do
you
have
a
process
for
choosing
the
firm
or
individual
who
will
lead
the
feasibility
study
or
have
already
made
that
decision?
Can
you
say
a
word
about
that.
G
Yeah
great
question
and
no
I
mean
we
don't
we.
We
haven't
gotten
that
far,
yet
we
haven't
even
we
want
to
either
we
want
to
either
hire
our
executive
director
or
meet
with
Library
strategies
before
we
do
that,
because
we
can't
screw
it
up
to
be
totally
honest
with
you,
so
we're
not
gonna
We're,
not
gonna,
go
that
one
alone.
A
Okay,
Library
staff.
B
Okay,
I'm
gonna
do
some
fancy
footwork
here
in
the
theater
to
tell
you
about
our
report.
So
I
wanted
to
give
a
report
because
we
haven't
met
since,
like
we
said
in
May
right,
so
we
didn't
or
June.
B
So
we
had
an
entire
summer
reading
program
happen
and
we
were
very
successful.
I
feel
it
was
very
successful.
It's
a
great
quality
program.
457
people
participated,
we
had
1160
check-ins
and
that
that
was
spent
weekly
check-ins
to
get
free
books,
and
we
gave
away
books
to.
B
Kids
and
teens,
and
then
adults
got
book
vouchers
that
they
could
use
at
the
book,
sale
or
bookbox.
So
I
had
a
great
program.
It
was
six
weeks
long
and
wonderful
performers
good
time
the
staff
did
a
grand
finale
and
gave
away
cookies
at
the
end
and
had
big
grand
prize
drawings
and
the
kids
who
won
the
prizes
are
always
adorable
and
the
family
was
actually
there
who
won
the
the
Power
Wheels
Jeep
and
they
I
think
every
kid
in
that
family
piled
in
and
they
drove
out
together.
B
So
it
was
a
lot
of
fun
and
we
had
we
had
the
mayor,
who
knows:
city,
council,
city
manager,
city
manager,
so
some
good
good,
Community,
Grand
Finale,
so
lots
of
fun
on
that
one.
We
also
did
in
August
our
very
first
passport,
fair
and
the
the
passport.
Fair
is
nothing
really
for
us.
Nothing,
there's
nothing
unique
about
attending
a
passport,
fair
or
just
having
a
passport
appointment.
The
only
difference
is.
We
took
109
people
at
once.
C
B
Lasted
for
six
hours,
we
sadly
had
to
turn
away
a
lot
of
people.
There
were
hundreds
of
people
there.
We
helped
a
lot
of
people
and
gave
a
lot
of
people
guidance
on
what
they
actually
needed
to
have
to
get
their
passport.
68
photos
109
applications,
our
passport
appointments
increased
after
that,
because
then
people
made
a
voice.
We
had
people
from
everywhere,
San
Francisco,
L.A
tons
of
people
from
L.A,
San
Diego.
E
B
Yeah
Arizona,
yes,
that
that's
true
so
in
wow,
just
insane
number
of
people,
so
we
do
passports
all
the
time.
B
So
this
is
really
part
of
an
awareness
campaign
to
let
people
know
that
Palm
Springs
public
library
is
a
passport
acceptance
agency
and
you
can
come
and
we
will
help
first-time
applicants
submit
their
passport
and
we
have
a
lot
of
great
information
on
our
website
and
we
have
I
think
13
agents
who
are
licensed
and
who
can
answer
questions
about
getting
a
passport
or
whatever
you
might
need
so
check
in
with
us
on
that.
Do.
A
B
Or
we
had
a
lot
of
people
rebook
in
the
afternoon.
A
B
Had
people
who
waited
and
were
able
to,
we
were
able
to
help
them
in
the
end,
so
yeah,
and
then
there
were
a
lot
of
people
who
didn't
have
the
right
things
that
they
needed.
They
ended
up.
Somebody
forgot
their
driver's
license
in
L.A
and
then
family
member
got
to
drive
it
up
here.
We
had
some
stories
today,
so
it
was
a
really
great
event.
We
are
going
to
do
it
again.
E
B
January
10th,
so
it's
only
for
a
few
hours.
D
B
B
There
are
a
lot
of
people,
maybe
not
necessarily
in
Palm
Springs,
but
there
are
a
lot
of
people
in
Southern
California
who
can't
even
get
an
appointment
to
get
their
first
time
application
for
a
passport.
So
we
are
a
great
resource
because
we
have
appointments
available
almost
every
day.
E
B
Initial
passport
or
if
you've
lost
your
passport.
Basically,
if
you
have
to
do
the
form,
that's
called
ds11,
you
get
to
come,
see
us
get
to
see
an
agent
either
us
or
the
post
office
or
wherever
passports
are
accepted.
So.
E
E
B
You
that's
awesome,
so
I
want
to
show
you
a
picture.
A
few
pictures.
We
got
new
public
computers
at
the
library,
so
our
I.T
Department.
Let
me
get
this
loaded.
E
B
B
Let's
see,
you
know
it's
kind
of
squirrely
here's
another
angle
we
had.
We
had
old
tables
lots
of
wiring
I.
Don't
really
have
a
close-up
of
the
wiring.
You
can.
E
B
Now
I
think
we
got
24
something
like
that,
and
then
they
can
write
new
grants
every
year,
I
think
for
15
more
so
the
next
grants
that
the
city
will
be
doing
is
for
the
community
center,
so
James,
o
Jesse
desert
island
Unity
center,
the
community
center
they're
going
to
write
grants
to
get
computers
because
it's
good
for
community
centers
senior
centers,
just
basically
the
the
goal
is
to
get
computers
for
people.
E
B
These
have
you
know
one
plug
and
one
plug
instead
of
six
four,
whatever
eight
so
that
it
looks
so
much
better
sure
does
I
think.
C
B
Little
farther,
you
know,
got
a
little
bit
more
room
a
little
bit.
B
It's
beautiful
and
then
I'm
going
to
go
back
to
turning
off
this
because
I
gotta
read
my
notes,
one
second:
okay,
the
grant
is
called
the
California
Public
Utilities
Commission
casf,
which
stands
for
California
Advanced
Services
fund
Broadband
access
Grant.
So
it's
the
California
Public
Utilities
Commission
Broadband
access
Grant,
so
we
got
80
500
there.
So
that's
really
awesome.
We've
got
some
new
programs
that
are
happening.
B
One
thing
that
is
new
is
baby
story
time,
so
we're
going
to
start
baby
story
time
on
Thursdays
at
11,
so
we'll
have
preschool
story
time
at
10
and
then
baby
story
time
at
11.
Babies
on
the
lab.
B
Mentioned
that
so
we
do
we're
working
with
an
organization
non-profit
organization
out
of
Los
Angeles
called
baby
to
baby,
and
we
have.
We
just
got
a
new
shipment.
We
have
sizes
newborn
to
six
available.
B
We
asked
parents
to
come
just
once
a
week
and
get
diapers,
there's
no,
no
obligation,
no
paperwork
to
fill
out,
no
library
card
requirement.
You
just
come
in
and
ask
and
we
give
out
diapers
and
wipes
while
they
last
and
if
it's
your
first
time
visiting,
we
give
you
a
born
to
read
kit.
Although
I
heard
we're
getting
very
low
again
on
those,
we
only
have
about
16.
left.
B
So
that's
something
there
wonderful
program:
they
they
send
them
by
the
pallet
mode.
So
we
got
two
pallets
of
diapers
the
other
day.
We
also
are
bringing
drag
Story
Hour,
so
drag.
Story
Hour
is
going
to
return
in
October
and
it's
going
to
be
we're
going
to
do
I
think.
Are
we
doing
sort
of
quarterly
programs,
so
Bella
to
fall
will
be
our
host
and
our
meeting
our
event
meeting
our
event
will
be
October
24th
at
6
PM
everybody's
invited
to
attend
it's
so
much
fun.
B
We
read
stories,
we
do
a
little
craft
and
then
at
the
end
we
have
a
dance
party
because
you
have
to
have
a
dance
party,
because
it's
just
fun.
I
also
wanted
to
highlight
an
author.
That's
coming
next
Saturday
Julie
can
talk
about
it
too,
but
author
Melanie
Benjamin,
if
you've
never
heard
of
her
she's
a
great
writer.
B
She
has
a
book
called
California
golden
it's
set
in
the
60s
and
it's
a
about
surfer,
girls,
and
so
a
mom
and
two
young
daughters
are
our
Surfers.
But
it's
the
60s
and
you
know
it's
a
man's
world,
and
so
it's
just
a
you
know,
but
also
it's
the
Gidget
world,
so
all
right,
the
whole
Beach
Blanket
Bingo
kind
of
era.
So
this
book
is
really
great.
B
It's
called
California
golden
and
it
started.
The
event
is
at
4
30
and
the
room
is
small,
so
you
should
get
there
early
if
you're
gonna
come.
Let's
see
if
there's
anything
else,
I
wanted
to
mention
Julie.
Oh
I
will
talk
about
the
architect,
but
that's
later
in
the
agenda
and
Julie
can
pick
up
where
I
left
off
on
anything
that
I
missed.
D
Sure
so
I
do
want
to
highlight
too
that
we're
going
to
get
new
computers
at
the
Wellwood
Library
here
for
the
public,
because
of
this
lovely
grant
that
the
library
got
so
that
that
will
be
happening
before
the
end
of
the
year.
I
don't
have
an
exact
date
yet,
but
I
do
know
it's
supposed
to
happen
before
the
end
of
the
year.
Just
for
you
to
know
also
I
wanted
to
highlight
that.
D
Yes,
we
have
resume
programming
and
our
first
speaker
is
actually
next
Wednesday
evening
the
13th
at
six
o'clock,
we're
gonna
have
somebody
cutting
Dominique
Rickman,
who
is
going
to
be
talking
about
artificial
intelligence
and
chat
GPT?
So
you
know,
that's
all
the
rage
and
talk
right
now
so
come
learn
about
it,
because
she's
going
to
demo
thing
she's
going
to
show
how
these
tools
can
actually
be
useful
for
your
everyday
life
and
maybe
not
so
scary,
to
take
over
everything,
but
they
actually
could
be
useful.
D
So
it's
going
to
be
a
fascinating
discussion
and
she's
going
to
kind
of
highlight
on
you
know
all
the
different
points
of
view
and
things
that
are
being
discussed
right
now,
because
I
know
it's
a
Hot
Topic.
So
that
should
be
very
interesting.
They're
excited
to
have
her,
and
then
we
have
a
representative
from
the
historic
preservation
office
from
the
tribe
coming
later
in
the
month
and
then
someone
from
dogs
of
the
desert,
so
lots
of
great
things.
D
We're
also
having
displays
exhibits
in
the
library
again,
so
we're
having
one
that
will
be
installed.
D
D
So
I
just
encourage
you
to
come
in
grab
a
flyer
that
tells
you
about
when
our
programs
are
happening
or
go
online
to
our
calendar,
add
things
to
your
calendar
and
make
sure
you
come.
We
have
lots
of
great
things
coming
up
a
meditation
thing.
Of
course
we
have
Mahjong
open
play,
but
lots
of
great
speakers
and
things
happening.
D
So
please
come
on
down
just
a
little
bit
back
to
the
library
and
we're
excited
to
have
events
at
the
Wellwood
again
too,
and
then
I
did
want
to
just
add
one
more
thing
about
Pride
on
the
page
again
that
is
October
13th
with
Armistead
muffin
and
October.
14Th
I
am
happy
to
report
that,
but
some
people
are
sad.
D
The
VIP
tickets
are
sold
out
for
Armistead
I,
but
we
do
still
have
general
admission
tickets
available
for
him
and
then
the
Book
Festival
that's
all
day
on
Saturday
October
14th
from
10
a.m,
to
5
30..
It's
free,
wonderful,
wonderful,
authors
coming
to
to
talk
just
so
many
things
to
choose
from
and
a
great
event
things
happening
during
the
event.
So
please
come
on
down
free
we're
just
asking
people
to
register
so
that
we
know
how
many
people
are
coming
and
can
plan
for
that.
D
So
definitely
please
go
online
and
print
on
the
page.org.
If
you
want
more
information
about
the
schedule
and
the
offers
that
will
be
appearing,
okay,
thank
you
and
I
thought
of
one
more.
B
Thing
our
teen
librarian
Stephanie
land
got
a
grant
from
the
Anderson
Children's
Foundation
for
twenty
five
thousand
dollars
and
we
are
using
that
to
create
a
teen
maker
space.
So
we've
got
some
Sphero
robots,
they're
super
they're.
Just
these
little
spheres
and
you
can
control
it
with
a
Chromebook
or
an
iPad
or
iPads
are
on
order
and
they
you
could
just
roll
it
across
the
floor.
You
can
program
it
to
go
up
two
inches
and
over
one
inch
and
do
like
go
through
a
maze,
so
she's
developed
some
new
programs.
B
We've,
you
all
might
have
commented.
I
saw
Pringles
chips,
engineering
challenge,
the
Sphero
robot
balloon
challenge.
So
there's
a
lot
of
fun
steam,
oriented
programming
that
we're
starting
with
the
teens
and
also
the
tweens.
So
tweens
are
the
in-betweens
they're
they're,
not
babies
and
they're,
not
early
Learners
they're,
more,
like
third
grade
they're
they're,
too
cool
to
go
to
the
baby
program.
So.
E
B
Well,
fourth
grade
and
yeah
four
through
eight
yeah
I
can't
read
we're
not
talking
about
so
we're
very
excited
about
our
programs,
lots
of
fun
things
happening,
we're
even
going
to
have
where's
the
September
program.
We
have.
We
have
September
a
special
program,
a
big
one
for
the
kids,
especially
yeah.
E
E
B
A
C
A
Okay,
all
right
any
other
comments:
okay,
that
we'll
move
on
to
rule
number
six
doctors
report;
yes,.
C
The
remarkably,
since
our
meeting
in
June,
there's
been
very
little
activity:
I'm,
sorry,
okay,
since
our
meeting
in
June
very
little
activity.
If
you
look
at
the
summary
page,
the
balance
sheet,
the
total
liabilities
and
fund
balance
is
one
million,
seven
hundred
and
seventy
five
thousand
a
few
months
earlier.
In
June
it
was
one
million.
Seven
hundred
and
eighty
thousand
been
changed,
so
the
difference
is
about
5
000.
C
At
most,
there
was
also
we
had
a
question
about
the
unrealized
Investments
and
Genie
actually
did
follow
up
on
that
and
sent
us
interesting
to
everybody
on
June
26th.
She
did
tell
us
the
answer
to
that.
We
asked
her
to
look
into
that.
606
869,
an
unrealized
Investments
if
you
check
with
the
finance
department
just
as
a
reminder
here
in
response,
they
explained
that
the
unrealized
Investments
are
basically
not
a
true
number.
It
is
Investments
that
have
increased
or
decreased,
but
haven't
yet
been
sold.
C
It's
what
would
happen
if
we
sold
the
Investments
right
now.
In
our
case,
there
might
be
a
loss
of
about
sixty
eight
hundred
dollars.
She
also
asked
about
the
actual
interest
in
him
and
earned
and
wondered
how
we
could
see
a
lost
in
the
unrealized
Investments,
which
is
a
category
while
still
earning
interest
income,
each
quarter,
which
was
a
very
recent
question.
C
The
finance
person
individual
said
that
we
should
see
the
number
correct
by
itself
at
the
end
of
the
fiscal
year,
he's
predicting
that
we
will
see
that
the
number
turned
into
a
gain
and
not
a
loss
before
our
City's
Investments
are
doing
better
than
last
year.
You
may
recall
we
tried
to
find
out
if
we
could
do
the
Investments
on
our
own
and
have
a
better
return
than
the
city
only
to
learn
that
we
could
not
so
we're
tied
to
that.
Unfortunately,
because
we
did
not
want
to
do
a
better
job.
C
B
B
A
A
Successfully,
the
next
one
is
seven
b
and
I
will
turn
that
over
to
David
and
Juanita.
F
Juanita
and
I
served
as
an
ad
hoc
nominating
committee
for
officers
for
this
year
and
we
would
like
to
nominate
Craig
borda
Forma.
Excuse
me
as
chair.
Do
you
want
this
one
at
a
time
or
separately.
F
B
Whatever
just
so
Craig
you
just
say
you
start
with
the
chair
right.
A
A
Okay,
go
ahead,
you
did
make
it
smaller.
Thank
you.
Sorry,
nominations
are
now
in
order
for
the
office
of
Vice,
chair.
B
Yeah,
if
only
one
person
is
nominated,
the
presiding
officer
simply
declares
the
nominees
elected
by
unanimous
consent.
There
you
go.
C
A
I'm
declaring
it
the
nominations
committee,
his
choices
have
been
approved
by
the
trustees.
C
F
Before
you
do
that,
yes,
if
I
may
have
just
a
word,
thank
you
I'm
a
little
confused
by
this
item,
just
as
a
formality,
our
article
3
section,
one
of
the
bylaws
States.
The
officer
shall
be
the
chair,
Vice
chair
and
Treasurer
elected
from
a
monthly
appointed
trustees.
F
Okay,
if,
if,
if.
E
B
A
A
B
Committees
one
yeah
I
think
that's
I
just
erased
Ed
McBride
and
left
everything
else
as
it.
A
But
I
thought
Al
was
liaison
to
the
foundation.
I
am.
B
C
G
Excuse
me,
and
they
have
been
hybrid,
you
could
join
via
Zoom.
If
you
wanted
to.
C
A
A
Advocacy
group
I'm,
assuming
we
go
through
the
different
committees
itself.
Yes,
would
you
recommend
it?
Yes,
okay
advocacy
is
really
and
mostly
the
trustees,
all
trustees.
There
I
think
the
last
couple
times
we
haven't
had
any
specific
person
doing.
B
It
well
advocacy
well
yeah
sure
anybody
can
jump
in
and
docus
advocacy
if
you
need
to
speak
about
city
council
for
public
comment
or
whatever,
but
if
somebody
wants
to
be
in
charge
of
advocacy,
you
can
have
someone
volunteer
to
do
that,
and
these
are
all
volunteers.
E
A
B
A
On
the
bylaws
committee-
yes,
okay,
so
policies
and
fly
laws.
Do
you
both
want
to
remain
on
that
yeah.
A
Let's
see
friends
liaison
I'm
doing
that
presently
and
if
anybody
else
wants
to
join
me,
then
I
use
it.
I'll
join
you
to
the
board
I'm
going
to
be
on
their
board
member.
E
A
Great
room,
it's
good,
it's
comedians
are
wonderful,
yeah,
that's
a
great
girl
and
then
measure
J
out.
C
That
was
bright
version
of
the
treasury
City,
with
that,
okay,
it
hasn't
been
over
yeah
I've
been
meeting
yeah,
they
tend
to
meet,
they
don't
meet
regularly
every
month
and
Jeopardy
did
it
a
little
bit
differently
before
we
did
city
council.
He
was
a
chair
at
the
time,
but
they,
the
city,
kind
of
directed
them
in
terms
of
their
schedule,
so
I
think
they're
going
to
be
a
little
bit
more
regular.
Okay
anyway,.
C
A
E
C
B
In
September
September
14th
at
the
city
council
meeting
on
consent,
so
unless
they
pull
it
for
discussion,
it'll
just
be
blanket
approval
for
this.
We
are
pushing
through
our
architect
to
begin
the
design
phase.
B
Yes
and
the
architect's
name
is
group
four
group,
four
architecture
and
research.
They
are
out
of
South
San
Francisco
and
you
might
recognize
their
name
because
they
were
the
ones
who
did
the
2013
renovation
proposal
when
we,
when
we
were
working
on
a
renovation
before
so
they
have
intimate
knowledge
of
the
building.
It's
engineering
status,
all
the
things
that
it
needs
and
it
was
highly
competitive.
B
We
had
and
David
Sudley
was
one
of
the
committee
members
too,
and
can
try
and
we
had
14
actual
firms
turn
in
bids
or
proposals
that
we
had
to
review
and
a
committee
of
five
people
scored
them.
Then
we
narrowed
it
down
to
five
firms
and
did
interviews
with
those
and
then
did
the
scores
again,
and
so
they
were
the
Top
Choice
I
wanted
to
mention
to
you.
I
wrote
it
in
my
notes,
so
they
also
renovated
the.
E
B
They
did
the
renovation
there
right
now.
A
large-scale
project
of
interest
is
the
Yorba
Linda
library
and
Cultural
Arts
Center
60
000
total
square
feet
for
that
facility.
They're
also
working
on
two
other
infrastructure,
Grant
funded
libraries
in
the
state
right
now
so
they've
got
three,
and
that
means
that
I
think
that
means
they'll
be
very
comfortable
with
this
grant
funded
non-grant
funded
renovation
model,
because
all
three
of
us
are
of
the
libraries
are
doing
this.
E
B
F
C
C
Four
we've
never
heard
of
them
before,
but
I
would
like
more
information
just
to
know
who
they
are
so
I,
don't
know
what
maybe
maybe
what's
going
into
the
city
council
agenda
I,
don't
know
if
there's
any
written
material,
some
kind
of
a
summary
but
I'd
like
to
find
that
very
helpful
I.
B
C
B
Are
majority
women
owned
firm?
They
have
been
in
business
for
quite
a
while
I
mean.
Obviously
we
we
worked
with
them
in
2013.,
so
they've
been
in
business
at
least
10
years.
They
they
do
a
lot
of
libraries.
So
that's
one
of
the
highest
qualifications
we
were
really
looking
for
is
an
Architecture
Firm
that
understands
libraries,
because
you
know
if
we
yeah.
B
If
we
just
had
a
firm
that
does
everything
else,
they
will
understand
the
role
heavy
books
play
into
a
process
or
the
traffic
patterns
or
or
whatnot
there's
just
a
lot
all
of
the
stuff.
The
children's
librarian
has
that's
Universal
every
Library.
B
We
need
storage,
so
they're
I'll
share
some
more
information
with
you
in
the
future.
About
them
I'm
sure
we
could
they're
qualification
packet
can
be
shared.
We'll
look
at
you
that
information,
but
right
now
for
group
four,
you
can
go,
look
up
the
go
to
their
website.
B
G
Yeah
I
would
just
say
that
it
it
was
super
competitive
and
the
the
firms
that
submitted
proposals
were
amazing
and
it
was
not
an
easy
decision,
but
you
know
we
used
a
really
technical
way
of
scoring
them
and
group
four
architecture
came
out
on
top
and
I'm
super
excited.
Their
work
is
really
beautiful
and
we're
gonna
have
an
amazing
Library
when
this
is
done.
A
The
only
concern
I
have
is
they've
got
three
and
we
have
a
type
deadline.
They.
A
B
Know,
I
don't
think
it's
going
to
be
design
build
I
think
we
talked
about
that
at
the
beginning,
but
I
think
they're
moving
away
from
that
and
I'm
not
sure
exactly
what
I
don't
know,
I
think
I
don't
know.
I
can't
speak
to
it
exactly
how
it's
going
to
play
out.
A
A
B
Did
that's
one
project
and
so,
if,
if
the
two
projects
start
to
stray
from
each
other,
it
becomes
a
problem
because
we're
doing
scale,
you
know
economies
of
scale
bringing
in
electricians
and
plumbers
and
all
these
things.
So
the
project
has
to
stay
together
and
they're
very
understanding
of
the
timeline,
because
they
they
do
they're
doing
these
grants
and
they
they've
got
two
other
big
projects.
B
I
think
Santa
Anna
is
the
other
one
Santa
Ana
and
then
some
County
up
in
Northern
California
that
they're
working
on
so
it's
gonna,
it's
gonna
be
great.
It's
gonna
be
fine.
Well,.
B
So
I
I
wanted
to
say
this.
The
the
package
that's
going
before
city
council
is
for
phase
one
of
their
architecture
work,
so
they
they
are
going
to
do
the
design
for
the
fry
building.
They're
going
to
do
all
the
design
work
for
the
grant
funded
portion
of
the
main
library,
and
then
they
are
going
to
do
cost
estimating
and
come
up
with
a
menu
of
choices
for
the
non-grant
funded
items,
and
then
that
information
will
come
back
to
the
city.
B
E
B
B
This
is
phase
one
for
their
costs
and
then
they
will
get
to
the
cost
estimates
and
then
we'll
be
able
to
decide
what
we
can
do
and
what
we,
if
we,
if
we
can
do
it
all
David
Simmons
gonna,
raise
all
the
money
yeah
and
then
we'll
just
do
it
all
right
all
right.
Thank
you.
Any
questions,
oh
and
the
timeline
on
that
this
first
base,
probably
12
months,
12,
yeah,
12
14
months
on
the
first
part.
B
B
A
Okay,
any
other
comments:
trustees,
okay,
we
move
now
to
item
f,
David,
one
history,
save
the
library
Foundation
annual
report.
A
G
Okay,
so
you
know,
obviously
this
was
submitted
in
August
as
part
of
our
mou
with
the
city.
Oh
God,
some
of
the
highlights
are
obviously
the
recruiting
efforts.
We
we
are
now
up
to
22
people.
The
goal
for
the
foundation
is
24.
People
and
I'll
be
honest
with
you,
I
thought
when,
when
we
met
with
our
the
library
strategies-
and
they
said
24
people
I
thought,
you
know
what
are
24
people
gonna
do
and
I'm
thinking
it's
not
enough.
G
G
Obviously,
we're
really
excited
about
oh
I'm,
trying
to
scroll
down.
That's
not
my
screen.
We're
we're,
obviously
really
excited
about
the
Grant
and
the
the
selection
of
the
architect
and
I.
Think
our
our
the
I'm
gonna
look
at
my
screen.
E
B
G
5872,
our
net
assets
are
175
000
310..
We
we
the
our
annual
giving
letter,
which
is
a
solicitation
for
unsolicited
funds
or
on
unrestricted
funds
that
is
in
process.
We're
gonna
get
that
out
ahead
of
time
this
year
and
the
last
page
is
our.
G
C
A
Report
the
event
you
had
last
year
was
that
basically
your
income
up
thirty
five
thousand.
G
G
A
A
Any
questions,
okay,
do
we
have
to
have
a
motion
to
accept
us
and.
B
A
I
have
a
motion
from
Al
Jones
to
accept
this
can
I
have
a
second
thank
you
Ted
any
further
discussion.
Okay,
all
in
favor.
F
A
Okay,
that
moves
us
to
item
eight
and
that
would
be
comments
from
board
members
or
staff
at
this
time.
B
Know
I
was
thinking,
is
there
anything
well
once
this
contract
gets
approved,
we'll
have
to
work
with
The
Arc
desk
to
set
up
some
Community
input
sessions
and
working
with
community
members
on
things
like
that,
so
more
to.
A
A
Going
back
to
the
foundation
item
I.
G
Just
have
a
really
simple
comment,
so
I
want
you
to
know
that
when
we
interviewed
the
finalists
for
the
Architects
that
we
selected
I
I,
we
did
ask
them
or
I
asked
them
if
they
had
done
fundraising
before
and
if
they
were
willing
to
participate
and
partner
with
us
with
with
renderings
and
graphics
and
stuff,
and
to
come
to
groups
to
discuss
it
and
they
they're
willing
to
do
that.
And
I
I
was
reminded
of
when
Jeannie
said.
We're
gonna
have
to
have
Community
groups
that
they're
also
willing
to
help
us
fundraise.
A
Okay,
our
next
board
meeting
is
scheduled
for
October
4th
at
5
30.
Will
it
be
in
this
room
yeah.
