Thought
is
that
with
so
few
smokers,
it
said
you
haven't,
got
a
problem,
but
you
can
make
one
because
in
the
enforcement
area
you
can
get
some
fanatic
that'll
walk
up
to
a
smoker
and
say:
hey
lady
you're
not
supposed
to
smoke
here
tonight
and
her
husband
steps
in
between
you
and
says:
hey
buddy.
What
right
have
you
got
to
talk
to
my
wife
about
that?
I'll?
Leave
it
to
your
imaginations
at
the
end
of
that
particular
scenario.
Thank
you.
A
A
E
Afternoon,
thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
speak
with
you.
My
name
is
Patricia
Breslin
and
I
agree
with
everything
the
prior
speaker,
you
just
said
I
just
want
to
know.
How
did
we
get
even
to
this
point?
You
know
I
have
to
ask
why
it's
there,
an
overwhelming
problem.
Are
there
reports
or
complaints
from
the
Chamber
of
Commerce,
the
police
department,
the
Bureau
of
tourism,
the
convention
bureau?
E
Do
they
say
there
is
any
problem
on
the
contrary,
but
there
are
a
number
of
unanswered
questions.
You
know
defending
smoking,
it's
a
thankless
task
in
today's
politically
correct
environment,
but
what
about
their
rights
to
today's
suggested
bans
go
far
beyond
a
reasonable
public
policy
and
will
create
more
problems
than
a
workable
solution.
There
are
also
different
opinions
regarding
secondhand
smoke.
According
to
the
Environmental
Protection
Agency,
the
risk
ratio
for
40
years
of
exposure
to
a
pack-a-day
smoker
is
just
one
point.
E
19
epidemiologists,
as
a
rule,
are
skeptical
of
any
relative
risk
lower
than
three
and
dismiss
a
random
ratio
less
than
one
20.
That's
from
the
Heartland
Institute
publication.
Now,
from
the
issue
of
the
British
Medical
Journal
in
a
secondhand
smoke
report
to
epidemiologists
at
the
state
university
of
new
york,
analyzed
data
collected
by
the
American
Cancer
Society
for
more
than
a
hundred
thousand
Californians
from
1959
through
1997.
They
found
the
results
do
not
support
a
casual
relation
between
environmental
tobacco
smoke
and
tobacco
related
mortality.
They
also
found
the
association
between
tobacco
smoke
and
coronary
heart.
E
Disease
and
lung
cancer
may
be
considerably
weaker
than
generally
believed.
They
also
found
exposure
is
roughly
equivalent
to
smoking
one
cigarette
a
day.
The
purported
cause
of
almost
all
the
deaths
attributed
to
secondhand
smoke
is
highly
implausible.
That's
just
another
opinion,
and
we
don't
even
hear
that
that
much
smokers
also
have
rights.
Another
reason
to
oppose
the
campaign
against
smokers
is
because
it
violates
legitimate
rights
of
smokers.
Smokers
are
adults,
not
children,
and
they
deserve
to
have
their
informed
choices
respected
by
others.
