Description
City of San Bruno's What's Happening Around Town
for June 2018
A
B
C
C
You
want
to
have
a
bucket
ready
and
a
hose
ready,
because
you
want
to
dispose
of
those
fireworks
in
that
bucket
and
you
want
to
have
the
hose
there.
In
case
you
know
anything
happens,
a
firework
falls
down
and
whatnot.
It's
always
important
to
have
adult
supervision
as
well,
because,
even
though
these
are
safe
and
sane
fireworks,
they
do
pose
a
risk,
for
instance
a
sparkler
burns
at
1,200
degrees,
and
so
there's
inherent
risks
with
that,
the.
B
San
Bruno
Police
Department
will
be
out
in
force
this
holiday.
All
police
officers
will
be
working
seeking
those
folks
who
are
using
illegal
fireworks
or
misusing
safe
and
sane
fireworks.
The
penalty
for
either
is
an
administrative
citation,
that's
accompanied
by
a
thousand
dollar
fine
in
years
past
that
fine
is
sometimes
been
reduced.
After
the
fact,
the
city
will
not
be
reducing
any
fines
this
year.
So
if
you
are
cited
for
misusing
statements
and
fireworks
or
using
illegal
fireworks,
you
can
anticipate
to
pay
the
full
$1000.
B
It's
important
to
remember
that,
if
you're
having
people
over
for
the
4th
of
July
holiday,
we
want
you
to
have
a
good
time,
but
if
you're
allowing
individuals
to
use
your
home
to
either
misuse
safe
and
sane
fireworks
or
to
use
the
illegal
fireworks,
you
are
also
subject
to
that
citation
and
that
$1000
time.
So
we
encourage
everybody
to
have
a
great
holiday.
We
want
you
to
have
a
lot
of
fun.

A
Volunteer
drivers
are
needed
each
weekday
to
provide
meals
to
a
growing
number
of
seniors.

At
the
address
below
last
month,
Recology
San
Bruno
initiated
a
new
program
with
the
goal
of
reducing
the
contaminated
items
being
introduced
into
residents.
Recycling
bins,
Kirsten
panocha,
the
general
manager
of
Recology
San
Bruno,
is
here
with
more
information.
A
D
Recent
problem
is
that
China
has
put
strict
standards
on
the
inbound
recycling
that
they
are
now
taking
from
us
as
of
January.
First,
we
had
to
start
examining
the
recycling
carts
and
if
there
are
contaminated,
we're
having
to
dump
the
entire
cart
as
garbage.
What
we're
finding
is
happening
is
that
people
with
the
small,
maybe
32
gallon
size
of
garbage,
run
out
of
room
in
their
gray,
cart
and
they're,
taking
that
extra
bag
and
they're
placing
it
into
their
blue
cart.
Most
of
our
residents
in
the
city
of
San
Bruno
are
wonderful
recyclers.
D
They
do
a
great
job
in
their
recycling
is
95%
clean.
This
program
is
really
targeted
towards
the
people
that
are
using
their
blue
as
an
overflow
for
their
garbage
and
we're
seeing
highly
contaminated
these
recycling
carts
and
those
are
the
carts
that
are
going
to
get
tagged
and
eventually,
then
time
we
spoke
with
all
of
our
residential
drivers
to
ask
them.
What
are
the
big
contaminants
in
a
recycling
cart
and
their
answer
was
clothing,
diapers,
styrofoam,
electronic
waste
and
food.
D
So
right
now,
when
a
driver
comes
up
to
a
home
and
they
notices
that
the
recycling
is
contaminated
today
he
takes
the
contamination
you
take
to
recycling
and
dump
it
as
garbage
moving
forward
effective,
May
7th.
We
are
going
to
start
placing
door.
Hangers
such
as
this
on
the
blue
recycling.
Cart
we're
going
to
tell
the
customer
that
the
recycling
that
they
put
out
was
contaminated
and
we
dumped
it
as
garbage.
D
And
then,
if
it's
contaminated
upon
our
next
service
day
again,
there
will
be
a
charge
if
it
resident
ignores
our
door
hanger
and
our
letter
there
and
they
continue
to
contaminate
their
recycling.
It
will
continue
to
get
dumped
weekly
as
garbage
and
they
will
continue
to
incur
a
fee
each
and
every
time.
So
if
a
resident
is
unsure,
if
an
item
that
in
their
hand,
is
recyclable-
or
if
it's
garbage
there's
several
options,
they
have,
they
can
call
our
office
at
the
six
five.
D
Oh
five,
eight
three,
eight
five
three
six
and
ask
a
customer
service
representative.
They
can
also
go
onto
the
website
and
there's
a
link
called
what
Finn
and
they
can
type
in
the
item,
and
it
will
tell
you
which
cart
to
put
it
down.
Recycling
is
really
the
basics.
It's
plastic,
aluminum,
glass
and
paper.
That's
strictly
the
things
that
go
into
the
blue
cart,
there's
also
reuse,
which
we
would
love
everybody
to
still
utilize.
And
that's.
D
If
you
have
an
item,
that's
reusable
definitely
get
it
donated
or
call
our
office,
and
we
can
give
you
some
options
on
how
to
we
use
that
item.
But
reuse
items
do
not
go
into
the
blue
bin.
So
Recology
really
wants
the
residents
of
San
Bruno
to
continue
on
their
very
strong
recycling
path.
We
also
want
them
to
remember
they
can
utilize
the
organics
program
that
we
put
into
place
years
ago.
