consortium

libraries
of
massachusetts,
and
so
I

belong
to
the
access
services
working
group
for
that
for
helm,
and
so
I
thought
it'd

great

get
involved
in
kohai
us
user
services
too.

I'm

sure

I
thought
we
would
just
kind

started.
I
have
a
couple
of
things
on
the
agenda
and
if
anyone
else
has
anything
they
want
to
add
in,
I
guess
my
first
thing
just
with
everything
going
on.
I
just
wanted
to
see
how
everyone's
kind
of
managing
with
covid
and
what
what
the
status
of
your
your
libraries
are
and
just
kind
of
how
you're
using
cohort
to
manage.
You
know
anything.

we
were
planning
to
start
phase
four
next
monday
with
more
people
in
the
building
and
our
meeting
rooms
being
reopened,
but
colorado's
one
of
the
41
states
that
are
seeing
the
increase
in
cases.
So
I
think
we're
we're
going
to
push
that
back
a
couple
of
weeks,
but
I
was
curious
with
coha
when
we
went
to
the
curbside
pickups,
we
switched
all
of
our
current
pickup
locations
to
say
curbside
pickup
and
then
that
kind
of
created
a
lot
of
issues
for
staff
just
with
having
to
transit
items
back
and
forth
between
locations.

we
didn't
necess,
we
didn't
have
to
turn
off
anything,
we
don't
circulate
well,
we
circulate,
but
nothing
leaves
our
building.
Everything
is
check
out
and
you
return
before
you
leave
at
the
end
of
the
day.
So
when
we
shut
down,
we
didn't
have
to
do
any
changes
because
we
just
was
closed
and
we
didn't
have
any
patrons
or
anything
coming
in.

reopened
on
july
7th
and
we're
going
appointments
only
so
everything
has
been
running
smooth.
We
just
we
were
in
that
last
upgrade
to
1911,
and
so
we
have.
We
maybe
hit
like
one
quirk,
but
it
was
dealing
with
the
limitations
of
how
many
you
can
place
items
you
can
place
hold
on,
but
other
than
that
we
haven't
run
into
any
problems.

yeah,
we
we
kind
of
we
changed
some
of
our
loan
rules
and
holds.
I
think
it
was
kind
of
a
free-for-all
there
for
a
month
or
two.
We
I
feel
like
we
were
kind
of
letting
our
users
have
anything
they
wanted,

I
mean
we
were
eliminating
some
fines
and
we
stopped
our
collections
activity.
It
was
just
it
kind
of
felt
like
there
were
no
rules
for
a
while.

theory
we
could,
you
know,
capture
holds
for
our
own
patrons,
but
the
problem
that
we
run
into
is:
we
have
two
campuses
and
if
the
student
is
associated
with
one
campus
and
not
the
other
one,
we
can't
capture
holds
like

holds.

We
can't
place
a
hold
on
an
item
that
belongs
on
the
other
campus,
so
we
were
so
we're
going
to
be
doing
those
manually
and
we're
going
to
start
up
really
soon
with
the
curbside
and
make
appointments
for
the
pickup.

think
on
wednesdays,
like
a
limited
time
frame
on
wednesdays,
so
I
think
that
all
the
staff
will
be
placing
the
holds,
we're
asking
the
patrons
to
get
in
touch
with
us
and
fill
out
a
form
and
everything
like
that
and
that's
how
we're
going
to
handle
it.
In
the
beginning,
most
of
our
classes
for
the
fall
have
switched
I'd
say
about
98
have
switched
to
online,
so
we'll
still
be
doing
a
lot
of
virtual
services
for
them,
and
we've
already
walked
through
both
of
our
campus
libraries
and
set
it
up
with
the
facilities.

Folks,
you
know
like
blocked
off
certain
computers,
taking
away
all
sorts
of
chairs
and
we're
going
to
have
people.
You
know
I
believe,
check
in
at
the
desk
with
us,
and
I
don't
know
whether
we're
going
to
be
escorting
them
to
certain
workstations
or
not,
I'm
not
quite
sure
how
that's
going
to
work
yet,
but
that's
we've
certainly
been
discussing
it.
So
that's,
basically
what
we're
doing
right
now.

we're
we're
doing
something
similar
we're.
We
have
security,
they're
running
our
contact
tracing
that
we
have
to
do
and
then
they
they
just
kind
of
escort
our
patrons
up
to
the
computers
and
then
many
of
our
staff
gather
around
and
watch
the
watch,
the
page
from
the
computer
and
it's
really
awkward
and
then
about
three
of
staff.
Members
clean
the
computer
station
when
they
leave
it's
very
strange.

One
other
thing
we
did,
I
forgot
to
mention:
we
actually
had
facilities,
build
these
big,
we
got,
they
got
plexiglas
and
we
built
these
big
shields
that
we
put
all
around
the
circulation
desk
and
the
reference
desk
so
we'll
see
so
as
an
added
protection.

guess,
and
we
have
to
wear
masks,
of
course,.

what
you
you
mentioned:
changing
settings
for
pickup
locations
and
stuff,
and
we
had
to
do
a
lot
of
changes
and
co-op
for
that.
When
it
first
started,
we
we
saw
courier
going,
so
we
were
still
encouraging
people
to
fill,
holds
and
send
holds
and
stuff
we're
we're
across
the
15
county
area.
So
so
we
we
have.

that's
one

those
big
cleanup
jobs
that
I'm
still
kind
of
just
holding
out
on
because
I'm,
like

sure
how
we're
going

of
those

That's
our
litmus
test.
So
if
the
courier
stops
running
again,
then
we
shut
down.

and

whatnot

automated

sorter
and
gets
checked

if

hold,
we
print

slip,
but
the
notice
doesn't

pickup
location
yet

then
it
goes
and
sits

quarantine

72
hours

when
it
comes
out
of
quarantine.
We
check
it
in
at
a
station
specifically
with
the
pickup
window
location
and
then
they
get
their
notice
and
that
took
a
lot
of
figuring
out
because
we
never
did
transfers
because
we're
a
single
site
so
just
the
whole
concept.

know
you
realize
what
it
is,
but
still
just
the
ins
and
outs
of
making
it
work,
and
I
I
think
we've
got
it
down
now
and
staff
is
you
know
remembering
that
they've
got
to
do
two
things
in
order
to
make
sure
that
patron
gets
notified?

then,
during
all
of
that,
our
text
messages
stopped
working
and
we
had
to
get
that
figured
out.
We
got
on
some
kind
of
block
list
or
something-
and
so
you
know
it's
even
just
the
main
things
you're
trying
to
figure
out.

it
sounds
like

guys
did
it
in
a
really
smart
way.
We
actually

we've

looking

doing

trying

get
more
records
in
for
digital
resources
on,
say
things
we

available

the
internet
archive
because
being

history
collection,
our
collection

older

there's
a
lot.
That's
out
there
available
for
free,
so
get
a
lot
of
that
on
and
then
let
me
put
a
link

the

been
starting

list
and
I'm
going

be

to

only
two
items
on
it:
right
now

online
sea
shanties
and
we're
my
park
we're
going
to
try
to
do
a
virtual
shanty
thing,

so
we
thought
that
using
the
list
feature
for
some
online
resources
could
make
sort

you

kind
of
a
playlist
for
people.

have
to
kind
of
go
into
the
record
to
get
the
click
to
the
online
resource,
but
we
thought
this
could
be
a
fun
way
of
trying
to
feature
some
digital
items
to
support
the
virtual
experience.

support
company

work

talking
about
reopening.

I
was
curious
as
to
what
people
are
doing
for
reopening
the
libraries
you
know
with
the
quarantine
and
the
disinfecting
and
everything
so
yeah.
I
was
just
listening.

We're
we're
actually
looking
at
a
more
extended,
perhaps
even
seven
days,
but
again
we're
research.
Only
on-site
research
appointments
are
necessary
when
we
do
reopen.
We
have
no
reopening
date
also
because
of
our
materials
being
special
collections
and
researchers
usually
always
are
working
with
a
mixed
group
of
library,
materials,
all
kinds
of
library,
materials,
archival
materials,
they're,
not
completely,
usually
plain
paper
based.

So
there's
going
to
be
no
hand
sanitizers,
but
it's
going
to
be
required
that
people
must
wash
their
hands
thoroughly
before
using
materials
and
we're
still
working
out
procedures
for
how
the
staff
are
going
to
be
using
the
materials

things
like
when
the
staff
researches
with
materials
at
their
desk.

materials
are
going
to
have
to
be
quarantined
before
going
back
on
the
shelf
and
working
those
procedures
out
too
right

do
have
it
set
up

koha,
where
it'll
change
the
shelf
location
to
quarantined,
and
then
it
falls
off
after
72
hours,
the
ones
that
wait.
It's
still
going
to
put

on

it'll

So
that
was
one
of
those
messy
battles
that
I
had
to
fight,
but
it
works
okay.

find
a
bug
with
it
where,
like
you,
have
to
check
in
the
item
twice
if
a

it
does,
but
then
it
takes
it

really
changed

claims
return
process

you

we're
fairly
new
to
quahog.

only

it

a
half,
and
we
were
on
cersei
symphony
before
where
the
claims
return
process
was
really
really
easy.
So
when
we
made
the
switch,
I
think
staff
had
a
difficult
time
with
claims
returned,
but
I
feel
like
it's
a
lot
easier
with
the
upgrade.

had
in
our
old
system,
we
were
on
millennium
before
and
we
used,
we
used
to
use
it.
Some
of
the
other
libraries
in
our
new
group.
We
all
came
from
different
library
consortiums,
so
everybody
has
is
coming
from
a
different
place,

some
libraries
didn't
use
it
at
all
before
so
we'll
just
have
to
see
how
it
plays
out.

can't

get

freebie
and
we'll

write
that

can't

coming

claiming

know

there
attending

user
groups

things

we
tried
it,
they

were
just
like
this
is
too
confusing

so
for
for
them.

didn't
like
it.

we're
not
currently
using

just
saw
earlier
today
that
the
so
the
way
we
wanted
to
use
it
was
you
have
a
club
for
every
author
right,
so
we
have
a
james,
patterson
club
and
then
anybody
in
our
consortium
can
sign
up
for
the
james
patterson
club
when
a
new
james
patterson
book
comes
in,
we
put
a
hold
on
for
all
those
patrons
since
we're
in
a
consortium.
We
want
those
holes
to
be
picked
up
at
the
patrons
home
libraries,
but
currently
it
sets
the
pickup
location
to
the
staff
members
library.

So
if
there's
like
200
patrons
on
that
list,
all
those
holes
are
going
to
come
to
me
if
I
place
the
whole,
so
I
had
a
bug
out
and
it
just
got
pushed
to
2011.
I
think
that
allows
it
to
default
to
the
patrons
home
library,
so
next
upgrade
we'll
be
able
to
finally
use
that,
but
we
were
excited
about
it,
and
I
can
talk
about
it
more
if
you
want,
since
we
wrote
up
the
spec
and
stuff.

envision,

doing

club

are

that

need

we
kind

been
grappling

what's
the
best
way
to
do

stacks

and
the
scan

stations

comes
in

everybody's

different
phases
right

kind

interesting

hear
everyone's
experiences
because
we're
all
scattered
throughout
the
country-

you

state-

in
a
different
boat.
At
this
point
I
know
we
just
had
our
governor
mandate
masks
a
couple
days
ago.
You
know
in
all
public
buildings,
so
yeah,
I
kind
of
feel
like
colorado's,
going
a
little
bit
backwards
now,
and
I
know
that
texas-
and
I
think
california
might
be
even
more
so.

we're
we're
feeling
good
about
our
caution
and
our
slowness
and
janiece
reminded
me
that
we're
also
trying
to
think
of
ways
to
increase
our
digitization
for
people
so
that
they
wouldn't
even
have
to
come
in
and
trying
to
figure
out
how
to
perhaps
offer
more
of
those
services
given
the
staffing
level
and
and
then
access
to
the
equipment
and
the
timing
of
staff
going
in
and
then,
of
course,
sanitizing.
The
equipment
between
uses.

We're
open
at
a
25
level,
and
I
think
that
equates
to
about
32
people
in
the
building,
so
we've
got
a
staff
member,
sometimes
a
volunteer
out
front.
That's
you
know,
counting
the
ins
and
outs
and
we
really
haven't
had
too
many
problems
with
masks.
We
were
envisioning
people,
you
know
getting
really
put
put
out,
but
most
everybody
has
come
with
one.
We
do
have
them,
and
you
know
the
few
that
have
been
you
know
really.
You
can
tell
from
their
reaction.
They
really
don't
want
to
take
a
mask.

were
like

sometimes
see
them

stacks

they've

people

coming

have

people
that
are

just
really
appreciative
that
we're

open
partially
we've
got

socially
distanced

computers
and
we
cut
them
down

we've
got
nine
computers
available

90
minute
time
slots.
One
time
a
day

then
we're
doing
thing,

doing
all
the
virtual
story
times
and

the
different
things
like
that
we
do
have
a
a
weekly
craft
that

children's
librarian
puts
together
and
they
put
some
supplies
in
a
like
a
paper,
lunch
sack
and
patrons
register
for
the
crap,
it's
family
craft
night,
and
we
post
the
instructions
on
whatever
the
craft
is,
and
then
they
can
pick
up
their
bag
at
the
pickup
window.

so
I
think
this
week
she
was
doing
chia
pets,
and
so
she
it's
like
they're
doing
a
bit
a
blob.
It's
not
really
a
pet,
it's
just
kind
of
a
round
blob
and
they're,
using
pantyhose
and
soil
and
grass
seeds
and
that's
their
craft.

know
so
that
people
are
being
really
really
creative
to
try
and
still
make
us.

relevant
and
fun

libraries

searching
all

is
normal,
because
we've
got
like
700
000
items
and
if
you
put
a

it

times
out.

it's

proxy

recently
I've
been
getting
more
like
I
took
taking
forever
to
save
my
record

taking

click

load
