From YouTube: Kubernetes SIG Usability Regular Meeting 20210406
Description
Topics:
- Gaby gives an overview of JTBD study and how new contributors can get started helping out
A
Cool
welcome
to
our
regularly
scheduled
stig
usability
meeting.
Today
we
have
a
bunch
of
new
attendees,
so
gabby's
going
to
go
over
the
work,
the
projects
that
we
have
in
process
with
our
jobs
to
be
done,
study
and
talk
about
ways
that
new
people
can
get
involved
in
helping
out.
B
Cool
yeah,
so
for
for
the
people
that
may
or
may
not
be
familiar
with
jobs
to
be
done.
We've
actually
spoken
about
it
at
some
of
our
coupe
contacts
and
just
like
really
deep,
like
deep
overview
and
so
I'll
kind
of
give
like
a
little
like
one
minute
or
like
two
minute
overview.
But
it's
just
like
a
pulse
check
for
the
people
in
the
call
like
have
any
of
you
have
any
of
y'all
done
like
a
jobs
to
be
done.
Study
before,
especially
like
the
new
people.
C
Oh
no,
I
mentioned
I'm
familiar
with
it.
I've
never
really
completed
a
study
on
it,
but
I've
seen
reports
around
like
job
students.
B
Cool
cool,
yeah,
so
jobs
to
be
done,
I
think,
is
really
the
the
best
way
I
have
describing
it
is
that
it's
kind
of
like
a
qualitative
plus
quantitative,
just
like
mixed
method.
Research
study,
it's
generative,
but
also
evaluative.
Interestingly,
as
like
there's,
this
kind
of
like
published,
published
industry
method
of
you
know
like
how
you
interview
people
to
try
and
discover
kind
of
like
what
they
what
what
job
they're
trying
to
achieve
with
your
product.
B
So
you
know
like
in
the
case
of
kubernetes,
it's
like
not
just
about
kubernetes
but,
like
we
interview
people
on
like
their
day-to-day
jobs,
kind
of
like
a
pretty
typical.
Like
just
user
interview,
you
know,
but
there's
a
huge
emphasis
on
behaviors.
B
So,
like
you
know,
maybe
like
someone
has
an
opinion
about
kubernetes,
but
we're
trying
to
get
into
the
root
of
life,
but
tell
us
how
you
what
you
do
like
as
part
of
your
day-to-day
job
and
so
really
trying
to
get
at
the
root
of
the
behaviors
we're
midway
through
this
study.
B
So
like
we're
at
the
point
where
we're
like
extracting
behaviors
from
the
user
interviews
that
we've
done
and
the
idea
is
to
put
those
into
a
survey
with
this
kind
of
like
format
and
send
it
out-
and
you
have
users
kind
of
like
go
through
each
behavior
and
rate
it
on
a
scale
of
how
important
it
is
to
them
and
how
easy
it
is
to
do
today
like
with
their
current
tools.
And
so
then
you
get
back
this
kind
of
like
opportunity.
Matrix
almost,
which
is
like
you
know.
B
The
jobs
that
are
most
important
but
like
most
difficult
or
like
people
are
at
least
satisfied
with
them.
That's
kind
of
like
your
area
of
opportunity,
and
so
that's
kind
of
like
what
jobs
to
be
done
is
about
is,
like
you
know
what
are
those
like,
underserved
or
like
most
opportunistic
jobs
that
you
could
be
kind
of
like
working
around
and
trying
to
make
better
and
yeah.
So
that's
kind
of
like
what
jobs
to
be
done
is
about
I'm
just
trying
to
like
surface
those
opportunities.
B
So
what
we're
doing
is
basically
we've
recruited
a
ton
of
people
both
like
from
all
around
the
world.
We
sent
out
a
survey
through
cncf,
twitter
and
so
we're
working
through
the
list,
and
just
you.
B
Organizing
ourselves
in
we
have
a
interview
guide
that
we
have
we
we
interview
people.
I
think
we've
mainly
interviewed
people
from
north
america
right
now
and
we're
actively
trying
to
recruit
people
from
from
europe.
That's
been
a
challenge
so
far.
I
don't
think
we've
actually
been
able
to
speak
to
any
european
folks
as
far
as
contribution
opportunities.
B
I
think
that,
just
because,
in
the
last
couple
of
months,
we've
tried
and
reached
out
to
the
european
people
on
the
on
the
list
and
just
like
the
response
rate
has
been
much
lower
than
north
america.
B
B
How
can
we,
like
you
know,
do
we
need
to
send
out
like
the
survey
again
and
just
get
like
a
new
set
of
people
to
to
sign
up
or
just
kind
of
like
looking
for
those
types
of
ideas,
if,
if
any
of
y'all
kind
of
have
them,
because
I
think
we
have
a
pretty
good
pipeline
for
you
know
how
we,
how
we
interview
people
once
they
sign
up,
and
then
you
know
how
the
interviews
are
transcribed,
how
we're
going
about
analyzing.
B
The
interviews
like
all
of
that
is
going
like
very
well,
but
it's
just
like
getting
the
people
to
sign
up
that
we're
kind
of
running
into
that
we're
currently
struggling
with
so
so
yeah.
So
that's
the
update
and
just
kind
of
like
if
anybody
wants
to
contribute.
In
that
sense,
I
think
that
that's
our
biggest
need
right
now.
D
Are
there
any
like
meetup
groups
connected
with
cncf
that
are
outside
of
the
us,
where
you
could
like
send
a
link
to
a
meetup
group?
Yes,.
A
Yeah
I
mean
kubecon,
europe
is
the
one
that's
coming
in
may
so
that
might
be
our
best
opportunity
to
recruit
in
the
past
with
other
sigs
and
working
groups.
You
do
often
get
like
one
or
two
new
contributors
per
for
coupon
and
then
the
good
thing
is
that
the
content
is
then
online.
So
people
can
check
it
out
async
if
they're,
not
at
the
conference.
A
There
are
a
bunch
of
kubernetes,
meetups
and
actually
kimbo
is
a
pretty
good
partner
as
far
as
kind
of
community
driven
big
german
office
with
lots
of
european
employees
that
we
might
want
to
reach
out
to
I've
been
to
a
bunch
of
meetups
at
their
office
in
the
before
times.
But
they're
like
the
thing
about
like
kind
of
the
kubernetes
community,
is
that
it's
so
low
level
that,
like
you'll,
get
a
lot
of
like
linux,
core
devs.
A
You
want
to
talk
about
ebpf
and
then
you're
like
how
do
we
get
them
yeah,
and
so
it's
kind
of
fun
about
this
group
is
we're
trying
to
make
a
space
where
user
researchers
pms
designers
can
kind
of
come
and
like
contribute
their
skills
and
talents
as
well.
To
the
project,
but
we're
very
new,
as
you
can
probably
tell
so,
we're
kind
of
trying
to
you
know
be
like
hey,
come
here,
work
with
us
and
kind
of
reach
out
to
the
people
who
might
be
interested.
D
Cool
I
have
the
company
I
work,
for.
We
have
a
really
big
footprint
in
tel
aviv,
israel
and
I'm
wondering
if,
if
I
reach
out
to
some
of
our
developers
and
if
they
have
a
con,
a
place
where
we
could
share
that
survey
link
at
the
top
of
my
head,
I
wouldn't
know
what
it
was.
But
maybe
I
can
connect
with
some
of
the
people
that
on
my
team
and
see
if
they
have
anything
so
I'll,
do
a
little
digging
and
see
if
I
can
come
up
with
anything
for
you.
B
That'd
be
amazing
because
we
have
like
everything
is
templatized.
Like
you
know,
we
have
documented
like
that
twitter,
like
kind
of
like
outreach
that
cncf
sent
out
on
our
behalf.
So,
like
you
know,
there's
the
content
for
that.
B
I
think
the
survey
that
people
filled
out
we
could
just
kind
of
like
turn
it
back
on,
like
that.
That's
in
the
cncf
survey
monkey.
So
it's
just
like
there's.
We
have
a
lot
of
material
so
definitely
like
if
you
reach
out
and
you're
like
okay.
How
do
I
like
go
about
this?
It's
like
we,
like
you
know
it's
all.
There
awesome
if.
E
You
have
areas
that
you
need
more
research
on
versus,
like
other
themes
that
we're
looking
at.
Maybe
that's
how
we
can
help,
because
we
have
a
lot
of
data.
I
know
evangeline
on
the
team.
That's
why
she's
here
like
she,
we
have
a
way
of
grouping
information
around.
You
know
research
that
we've
done
around
modern
applications,
so
maybe
one
we
can.
E
You
know,
build
teams
and
we
can
say:
okay,
there
is
some
existing
data
from
all
of
us
that
we've
done
research
on,
and
these
are
the
areas
that
we
really
need
to
focus
on,
and
then
we
can
expand
a
little
bit
more
in
those
areas
and-
and
we
are
doing
jobs
to
be
done,
but
maybe
there's
also
another
approach
on
the
research
where
we
now
kind
of
have
a
trend
or
a
theme
going
on
with
what
we
understand
around
the
market
and
we
can
really
fill
in
our
thoughts
as
designers.
E
All
in
this
room
that
you
know
this
is
what
we've
learned.
These
are
big
findings
across
these
areas,
and
that
would
be
a
really
good
report
to
kind
of
start
sharing
around,
like
you
know,
quarterly
themes
that
we've
kind
of
seen
in
the
kubernetes
space
so.
B
E
B
Yeah
I
mean
maybe
like
so,
if
we're
talking
about
like
leveraging
existing
research
that
yeah
we
could
kind
of
like
set
up.
B
I
wonder
if
we
could
set
up
like
some
time
because,
like
right
now,
like
from
the
interviews
that
we
have
done,
yeah,
there's
like
the
analysis
going
on
right
now,
like
the
tagging
like
yeah
yeah
and
all
that
good
stuff,
so
it's
kind
of
like
that's.
It's
also
very
timely
to
just
to
be
like.
Can
we
leverage
this
so
that
for
the
rest
of
our
interviews,
we're
making
sure
that
we're
not
we're
trying
to
like
explore
areas
that
aren't
like
a
direct
overlap
with
like
the
existing
research
yeah.
E
Like
what
his
thoughts
are
and
how
we
can
do
something
like
that,
and
then,
if
we
have
themes,
then
we
can
actually
reach
out
to
the
designers.
We
have
like
one
sec,
so
many
people
on
the
same
usability,
maybe
like
having
actionable
items
like
we
are
really
trying
to
learn
about
this
area.
What
have
you
learned
in
your
you
know
in
in
your
company?
E
Let's
pull
it
into
this,
so
I
feel
like
oftentimes
people
might
be
a
little
bit
more
apprehensive
and
sending
out
surveys
just
to
their
customers,
because
it's
also
sharing
their
data.
You
know,
might
be
difficult.
So
just
what
the
policies
are
around
that,
but
sharing
key
findings
would
be
easier,
that
this
is
what
you
would.
B
E
B
The
the
hard
part
around
just
sharing
key
findings
is
that
you
know
they're
kind
of
like
you
can't
really
see
like
like
the.
E
B
B
Maybe
pop
a
few
things
into
we're
going
to
do
tetra
insights
so
that
that's
kind
of
what
we're
thinking
right
now
and
so
we've
just
been
uploading
just
like
the
recording
boom
to
touch
our
insights
and
it'll
transcribe
everything,
and
then
it
lets
you
like
label,
and
so
you
can
like
read
through
it
and
be
like
okay
behavior.
B
B
E
F
So
the
reason
I
ask
is
you
know,
thinking
through
insights
that
I've
pulled
out
and
whether
you
know
it's
something.
You
know
that
I
could
just
grab
a
handful
and
put
into
some
existing.
You
know
database.
You
know
because
I've
already
done
the
work
of
anonymizing
a
lot
of
this
stuff
yeah.
You
know
I
could
in
in
part
of
part
of
what
I
do
is
I
do
take
the
context
around.
Whatever
the
insight
is
and
that's
part
of
what
I'm
putting
in
the
database-
and
you
know
like
I
said-
that's
already
been
anonymized
so.
F
B
That'd,
be
amazing,
yeah,
okay,
I'll
take
that
I
can
probably
take
that
as
in
like
definitely
like
an
action
item
for
me
just
to
figure
out,
like
you
know
like
if
people
have
existing
things
that
they're
willing
to
contribute
just
making
sure
that
that's
an
option,
the
plug
and
play
yeah
right.
D
I
haven't
another
questions
is,
and
this
might
be
like
known
by
everyone
here
already
do
we
have
personas
that
you're
sort
of
mapping
those
two
or
certain
job
titles,
or
are
you
just
kind
of
keeping
those
results
like
non-specific
to
like
a
persona
or
a
title
role
so.
B
When
we
were
putting
together
a
screening
survey,
we
were
using.
We
were
kind
of
like
getting
a
lot
of
guidance
from
the
survey
that
cncf
kind
of
publishes
every
year
about,
like
the
state
state
of
the,
I
guess,
it's
the
kubernetes
community
or
or
the
cncf
community,
but
they
have
a
ton
of
job
titles
there
and
they
have
a
lot
of
like
questions
that
we
repurpose
just
to
kind
of
like
do.
A
gut
check,
like
you
know,
are
we
speaking
to
like
a
representative
sample
of
like
the
people
that
cncf
like?
B
Are
we
in
agreement
in
agreement
with
what
cncf,
who
cncf
says,
uses
their
tools?
So
that's
kind
of
like
how
we
went
about
it
and
I
think,
at
the
end
of
the
day,
it's
just
like
the
admin
to
developer
spectrum.
B
That's
kind
of
what
I
was
thinking
of
nice
yeah
for
data.
I
remember
that
was
one
of
like
the
job
titles
that
that
we
listed
and
then
we
also
had
like
what
kind
of
activities
do
you
perform
at
your
work,
and
I
I
remember
like
data
was
one
of
those
that
people
could
kind
of
like
check
off
the
box.
B
B
Cool
yeah,
I
think,
if,
if
that's
everything
yeah
so
like
I'll,
try
and
like
maybe
like
send,
send
out
an
email
after
this
to,
like
our
google
group,
just
kind
of
like
recapping,
like
you
know,
like
here's,
the
materials
that
we
have
available
if
anybody's
able
to
either
help
think
of
any
places
to
recruit
or
if
y'all
have
existing
research.
Again.
B
That
is
willing
to
be
open
sourced.
Here's
kind
of
like
the
the
method
that
we're
able
to
like
receive.
B
A
B
Mm-Hmm
yeah,
just
I'll
just
need
a
second
to
pull
it
up.
C
D
B
Just
for
the
for
the
t-shirt
codes,
I'm
just
hiding
hiding
those
so
that
no
one
takes
their
t-shirts.
You'll
see
what
I
mean.
B
Okay,
so
I
can
send
this
link
out,
but
this
is
when
someone
signs
up
through
our
calendly,
so
they'll
just
book
a
slide
I'll,
send
out
a
message
to
our
lead,
interviewers
and,
and
usually
someone
will
sign
up.
We
also
have
opportunities,
just
especially
like
later
on.
Our
goal
is
to
do
15
15
of
these
interviews,
but
just
like
for
people
to
shadow
and
to
just
kind
of
like
either
learn
from
the
method
or
or
like
take
notes
and
but
yeah.
B
So
those
are
kind
of
like
the
the
shadowing
opportunities
that
we
have
and
I'll
just
update.
What,
whenever
someone
books
time
on
calendly,
I
usually
just
come
in
here
and
update
like
what
the
date
is
and
what
the
time
is
and
then
you'll
get
added
to
the
calendar,
to
the
google
calendar
that
that
comes
from
the
calendly
and
so
you'll
have
it
on
your
calendar
and
all
that
good
stuff.
E
B
Yeah,
so
we
a
interview
guide-
and
you
know
this
is
like
it's
kind
of
like
a
yeah.
I
mean
like
yeah.
We
have
it
here
and
it's.
E
Guys,
how
is
somebody
supposed
to
know
that
something
we
just
have
to
go
and
check
like
there's
something
available,
and
you
sign
up
for
it
to
shadow.
B
Yeah
I
mean
you
so
we've
we've
had
usually
I'll
send
out
a
slack
message.
Okay,
I've
sent
out
slacks
in
the
past,
just
like
asking
for
note,
takers
and
shadowers.
So,
like
you
know,
we've
gotten
these
people
to
sign
up,
but
because
of
the
low
response
rate
with
our
european
audience,
like
it's
yeah,
we're
still
kind
of
like
yeah,
usually
like
you
would
just
get
like
a
slack
like.
Are
you
available
at
this
time?
A
Yeah
one
thing
I
would
call
out
is
that
we've
sort
of
shied
away
from
making
this
completely
open
to
like
anyone,
any
random
person
from
the
internet
participating
just
because
the
people
that
we're
interviewing
are
professionals
who
are
giving
us
their
time,
and
we
don't
want
to
open
up
to
like
zoom,
trolling
or
anything.
So
we
kind
of
want
to
know
who
you
before
we
invite
you
to
participate
in
our
research
process.
